Favorite Flavorless Protein Powder?
Slimming Down Steve replied to PlanetHopper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Genepro just loss a law suit. They are comparing the products30 grams a serving to others 33.3 gram scoops. 1 tbsp has 14.3 grams in a tablespoon. Couldn't prove with science how 30 grams gets squeezed into 14.3 grams. So each scoop max would be 14.3 grams at the most. The products 14.3 grams may be as absorbing as well as 30 grams, I think not. That's why they got sued. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using BariatricPal mobile app -

Bread cheese, string cheese, grilled seafood, sashimi, raw oysters, edamame, occasionally pork clouds (pork rinds made with olive oil and low processing) for a snack, unflavored Protein GENEPRO in my coffee are some of my favorites... I don't like turkey, chicken very much. I wish I did. I don't like any Protein shakes or Protein Bars but it's mainly because I've always had an anti-sweet tooth. Diet During First 2 weeks
BajanSleeve replied to California joe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@California joe There is tons of information on the internet to help guide you. It seems that each doctor recommends slightly different to the next but its generally the same. Mine was liquids only for 2 weeks and then by 3 weeks I could add more things like milk, yogurt, blended vegetables in my soups, a teaspoon of peanut butter etc. I am still eating pureed only foods at 5 weeks post surgery. I cant tolerate whole meats yet only blended in soups and I can eat very little solids like pasta or rice, only about 4 spoon fulls. From what I gather you just test yourself as the weeks go on as to what your body likes and can tolerate. I can't tolerate eggs at all and they really hurt when I try to eat them. You will learn what you can eat by what your body will tell you within the guidelines of each week. Some people tend to stay in one phase for longer than others because that is what is working for them By week 2 you should be adding protein powders to your drinks. I use the unflavoured protein which mixes into any liquids - your tea, drink, soup, etc. The protein makes you feel more satisfied and gives you more energy. I posted the link to the protein powder I use. It does not change the flavor of your food or drink https://store.bariatricpal.com/products/genepro-medical-grade-protein-powder-2nd-generation -

msspiceybaby replied to Bronxmerci's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Joy59 Our day is coming up rapidly. Lucky you only had 2 days. I had 2 weeks but,I wasn't 100% compliant. I was having problems with my blood sugars 59,62,92 (after eating 4 grapes)and 72. So I had to eat bites but I'm still losing. I hope I can get to 269-270 by the 8th. I do ok with Water I usually try to drink 4 16.9 bottles that will give me almost 68oz. plus any other liquids. With the Protein Idrink a cup of ta when I get up. I put 1 spoonful of Splenda/sugar and 1 spoonful of GENEPRO in the tea. Genepro is 30 grams of protein. Then I drink 1 Premier chocolate shake that's 30 grams. and a Equate Shake before bed 10 gram. I don't get my 800 cal. I will be glad when surgery day is here and over. Let the healing begin. -
Hi! I take the Bariatric Advantage calcium citrate chewables and the ProHealth Bariatric multivitamin chewable. I bought both from the hospital pharmacy initially, but they were almost $60 together. So, I went online and price matched, each brand’s website was the cheapest VS all other retailers I could find, so I ordered thru each of them. I didn’t even think of using other brands... that is now my today’s “DUH” moment. They offer a slight discount if you auto-ship, so I’ve done that for both. For the multivitamin chewable, I H.A.T.E the citrus flavor; but since I’m past one month post-op, my NP says I can switch to the pill. Honestly, anything would have sufficed as long as I don’t ever have to taste, smell or see the citrus flavor chewable ever again! I like that the pill form comes in a 90-day supply, so that will be helpful in cost per month. I think the Calcium Citrate chewies are $35 if you autoship. I’ve tried the ISO-PURE protein waters, they are fantastic! I’ve also had the protein shakes, I don’t really drink them anymore, my tummy does not agree post-op. I struggle with getting protein in, but I use the GenePro protein powder, it’s the only one my program suggested that isn’t flavored. I figured that would be best because I can add it to anything or any temp of food. It is a little more expensive than the others but it’s great and I have no complaints. Hope that helps! I know it can totally be overwhelming at first. Please reach out if you ever need a support!

New idea for protein...and it tastes GOOD!
CanyonBaby replied to CanyonBaby's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@purrfctangel Also look at GENEPRO, it has 30 grams per VERY small scoop (a little bigger than a tablespoon, I think), and is unflavored. There seems to be little info out there on it, but if it indeed is what they say it is, we may have found gold! I have been using it a while now, and I intend to ask my dietician on the 16th what her opinion is of it. Found it on Amazon.com. It mixes really well, compared to the other whey powders I've used. But I still use the other powder just in case the Genepro isn't what it claims to be and do. Have a good evening.... -
Struggling with my 3 meals
CheleLynn45 replied to Crystal88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Crstal88.......I was sleeved on 10/27/14. I had my 2 week post op appointment yesterday with my surgeon. Everything is going really well. At my two week mark I could start mushy type foods so I did. Everything I have tried so far has gone down well. Thank God! I have always ate three meals a day and usually a snack at night so I did have to cut that out because my surgeons practice says NO SNACKING. I am still off of work so it's a little easier with my meal planning. I am suppose to be doing two shakes a day and one small meal. I was doing two meals and one shake but doc wants me doing two shakes and 1 meal so that is what I will do most days, but some days I am doing two meals and one shake. I was able to get my Protein on the days I was doing 2 shakes and 1 meal by adding unflavored GENEPRO to my drinks. I try to get my Breakfast in pretty soon after I wake up, shakes go down just fine for me in about 20 minutes. then I wait my 30-40 mins and I start with my liquids and try to get at least 24oz in before I have to stop drinking to be able to eat/drink my lunch. Then I wait again and start my liquids to get them in before dinner. And then sometime between 5-7 depending when my husband gets home I do dinner. then more liquids. This really seems to work for me and I think even when I go back to work it will continue to work. The only issue I have right now is if I have an appt or something around lunchtime I have to figure out how to get my lunch in in between. But it really boils down to planning planning planning!! I'm not really hungry at all much during the day so I think that helps me to stick to my plan. I have to really make sure to plan since in my family there is me, my husband and my daughter. My daughter has decided to not eat meat anymore so at dinnertime I am basically making three different dinners. So far it has been working, but again not without planning. When I wasn't watching what I ate it was easy to get lazy and then just eat whatever, this makes us plan ahead. I hope any of this helps. Good luck, I always hate when I read on here that people are struggling with things, you know you just want to reach thru the computer and fix it!!! Good luck and I hope it gets easier for you!! -
100% whey protein isolate
RoadToMe replied to RoadToMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for that info! I've only tried isopure's zero carb clear drinks, I'll have to try the powders. I looked into genepro when I heard people talking about it but it's a blend of Proteins and I don't seem to handle blends very well. At least that's what I think it is that I'm not handling. -
Help, please! Premier Protein shakes taste awful to me.. Need recommendations!
TEXASLADY52 replied to blissfulbeing's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Your taste does change. Right after surgery I could not stand Premier....could not gag them down....too thick...too chalky. Tried one the other day and decided it wasn't too bad after all and ended up buying three cases (because they were on sale for $19.99..LOL). Since my surgery up to this time...I used GENEPRO...it is oderless and tasteless...I mix it with Crystal Light....30 grams of Protein....I get it from Amazon. -

Never used any ready to drink shakes I didn't find any I liked. Purchased unjury chocolate flavor. Mix it with coconut almond milk in a shaker Took it on the go wherever I went. Heated up for hot cocoa. I went to IKEA and bought several metal tumbler cups with lids and they keep my drinks cold or hot first long as I take to drink them. And I use a thermos to take extra milk to work if I need it. I carry Genepro flavorless protein powder add to my water or oatmeal or crystal light. -
I think I figured it out

I couldn’t tolerate shakes after surgery and still can’t. I went to gnc and bought genepro. I mix it in with my water and some crystal light flavoring and that’s what I use instead of shakes. -
How many calories do you eat per day?
Missy161 replied to dreamingsmall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Coffee with half and half and real sugar in the morning (my splurge ) Protein shake around 9am Small lunch like a couple of cheese sticks or a laughing cow wedge a little fruit at lunch- I also like chicken salad with a couple of crackers ( rice or pita crackers) Maybe a protein bar late afternoon. Dinner I might have some grilled chicken, zucchinni noodles, cheese or tuna. I don't plan well enough so sometimes I'll just grab another laughing cow wedge and roll it up in turkey. Yesterday I wanted another cup of coffee so I added genepro to it- 30 grams of protein in my coffee. I also had a Powerade zero. I do r hold a great routine so I at least try to keep cheese sticks, protein shakes and cottage cheese around for a quick meal. I'm not a great example of how to do it, but it's working for me. What did you wish you knew pre-surgery/sleeve life?
Autumn Fury replied to Ashley Wright's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The things I wish I knew before surgery are: 1. Get the Vitamin Patches. 2. Avoid the Protein shakes as much as possible - try to get as much protein from real food as you can.Your taste buds will change. 3. Fluids are a constant struggle, have a variety of options available. 4. An ice pack was my best friend while recovering. 5. You will have several incisions and they do take time to heal. 6. It's difficult to lay on your right side. (I'm 6 weeks out & still can't lay on my right side). 7. unjury Protein powder taste great in chicken Soup. 8. GENEPRO is a good protein powder but be careful what you mix it with. 9. Any local support groups you can attend are very beneficial. 10. Every day it will get a little bit better. Genepro!!! Genepro!!! Genepro!!! Genepro!!! Genepro!!! -
I use Musclegen Research GENEPRO Molecular Tri Protein Peptide. I put one scoop in 3/4 cup of 2% Braum's milk, along with half a packet of Carnation Breakfast Essentials No Sugar. The Genepro dissolves completely with very little taste and the Carnation Breakfast Essential favors the milk nicely. You get 30 grams of protein with each tablespoon scoop. You can also mix the Genepro with anything...yogurt, oatmeal, milk poured over Cereal, etc. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

Can hardly eat or drink - UGI x-ray scheduled
tarotcardreader replied to LAJ23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi. i was pretty il in the hospital and had that nasty test done. lol. Including pic for exact wording of test i had. you drink really putrid cup of yuck. They have you standing against this thing which turns out that it lifts you in air and goes in different laying positions etc. then when its done it returns you to standing, It was very unpleasant. Very. On mine it said i had an ileus which meant something was still sleeping or something like that. I had my surgery on aug 28. I was in hospital for 4 days and the nurse wanted to stay longer because of ileus. but the surgeon said it was cool to go home so i went with that and am sleeping in my own bed. I did alot of regurging shakes and weird noises were coming from my pouch while trying shakes. once on puree this got so much better mainly because right now i am not drinking shakes. i know i am below all my protein and water goal but i try everyday as a new day. i plan to try to get my protein mostly from foods. i am hoping my pouch will get up to 3 oz so i can eat 3 eggs which is 21g protein and that would help. i thought about getting some unflavored protein (genepro etc) and using it. If it is a shake allergy of whey try premier protein its milk protein. There are other options out there. good luck at the test it made me so much more nauseas. just try to hang in there and dont give up 👯♂️ -
2nd week post op smoothie ideas?
A New KK replied to melk86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said not to use a straw because it adds air to your intestinal tract causing bloating and gas pain. I found an unflavored Protein powder GENEPRO that I've been using to add to broth because I was bored with Protein shakes. I didn't find a cinnamon bun flavored one on amazon that wasn't too bad and to up the protein I added greek yogurt to my shakes. -
Protein Shakes Preop
laceemouse replied to southernmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pre-surgery I liked most of the powders, Quest has some good flavors. I mixed them with almond milk and ice and whizzed them in the Ninja. It was like an ice milk shake. Post surgery I am struggling with all of them. I have tried 10 different kinds, pre-made and powders. They are all so sweet and fake tasting and have a terrible aftertaste. And they are upsetting my stomach. I ordered GENEPRO today, they is some controversy around it but I have got to find something I can handle. -
Every six hours would be a lot! I have not tried isopure, but if it is a clear, maybe you could mix it with some crystal light. I just started using genepro and it is nice to be able to mix it in my crystal light..that way I am getting protein and liquid at the same time:)

Hi all I am in the week 3 stall but hanging in there. I am really tired, but that may partly be from not being able to do much because of my ankle. I can now put a little weight on it, so I will be going back to work part- time Wednesday. I hope my energy will improve as I get out more. Working hard to get my protein in. I ordered the Genepro, thanks for the suggestion BellaLuce4.

Question for people who use Genepro protein powder
carolk36 replied to Amyly2n's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
@@Okiebon I wanted to let you know what my friend just texted me about her labs. She uses only GENEPRO as her suppliment. Our surgeon checked her CBC, B12, Folic Acid, Potassium, Magnesium, Serum Protein (total), Vitamin D, Calcium, Iron, HQ AIC, Lipid Panel, and PTH, and ALL of her labs came back great! I have the order for my labs and will get blood work done in December. As soon as I get the results back I will let you know. Genepro did the job. I sent the website to my NUT and surgeon's office before I started taking it and both approved it. I was concerned about it not being whey isolate since we were told that was the best protein and what we should be using. This is her email response: "Hey Carol, Whey peptide is completely appropriate. It's basically just the isolate form broken down one step further so if you like it, keep drinking it!" Hope this helps. Carol
