I'm throwing away my granny panties! (and other panty victories)
MichiganChic replied to Vidalia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations, those are great NSV! I noticed yesterday I can run up and down the steps to the basement with no problems, and it made me realize the same thing. It's wonderful to be able to move so much easier, and it is life changing and liberating! -
I got on the scale today at the gym after a week in Vegas where I threw caution to the wind. A 3 pound gain. I'm surprised I didn't gain more than that, actually, what with 2 trips to the Cheesecake factory, a Bellagio Eclaire and Caramel Brownie, and every meal being some sort of restaurant food. I was honestly terrible. I TRIED to work out, but the gym cost $25/day and I'd take a 3 pound gain over a $150 gym bill. In addition to that, it was the temperature of the sun outside so walking around was kept at a minimum. So today I was supposed to present the new website redesign to the directors. I was NOWHERE near ready to do it and I wasn't able to work in Vegas like I'd hoped. So I called in sick!!! I still can't believe I did that. I just wanted to escape reality for ONE MORE day. But then I got 2 more calls today that we're doing a shoot early tomorrow and I've got to be there with all my gear to film the thing. I was REALLY hoping to pass this off to my intern, but I can tell he's not quite ready for that yet. I do think he'll be able to handle overseeing the special effects, though. He's good at that. And my other intern, Traci, I'm sure will have everything organized for tomorrow's shoot. She's the most organized person I've ever met. I'm just trying to take life one day at a time at this point. I feel so incredibly overwhelmed during my day job, my personal business, and my life! I need to make some goals and set a schedule for myself. If I don't pencil in "read your scriptures" at this point it doesn't happen. You'd think I'd be burning more calories with all the worrying I do! SCALE: 237 at gym (gained 3 pounds on vacation!) (233 at Doctor's office) EXERCISE: Length: 20 minutes Time: 12:30 (entered gym) to 1:00 (left gym) Intensity: HIIT (level 12 on machine at 10 intensity) Activity: Elliptical Calories burned start to finish: ~160 Calories burned 1 hour after activity: 145 (but I made lunch & did laundry) FOOD: BF: None (woke up at noon) L: 1 homemade stuffed pepper CALORIES BURNED: 2,346 CALORIES CONSUMED: 980 CALORIE DEFECIT: 1,366 NSV: Resisted a Wendy's fix 'n mix frosty that I SOOO craved

Congrats!!!! Great NSV

I call that a major NSV! I feel great when I can just slide into a booth, no worry about if the table is bolted to the floor and can't be pushed far enough away from my gut! No longer living in fear of dreaded booth seat! :-P

What will I look like?
LilMissDiva Irene replied to Susanne's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@Susanne - what an amazing NSV!!! LOL I bet you were just like... - at least that's how I do when I realize I'm doing something for the first time in a long time. Whoohooo!!!! Continue to rock that sleeve lady!!! @ Jane - that's so funny you mention a booty that you can rest a plate on. I was talking to a lady this weekend that mentioned a butt and called it a "shelf". OMG -- I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!! LOL!! Now, she's the nicest lady so I know she meant no harm, in fact she said it that way to avoid just saying "fat butt"... haaa!!! -
I still don't know what I will look like at goal weight, but I am pretty sure I'll have a bangin' ass in a few months, LOL! How funny is that... I love it... can't wait to see some booty photos Suzanne! This sort of NSV really keep me going... I LOVE IT!!

Yesterday I bumped into a friend who I haven't seen since before surgery when I was at my heaviest. WWhen she saw me she looked at me in disbelief and said "Where's the rest of you??!!" She said i look fantastic and I could tell that she was genuinely happy with me!!

In need of a little encouragement or wisdom.
Ms skinniness replied to Imjustmee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I looked at your profile page and you have started out at a higher BMI. So it might take a little longer to be absolutely apparent....But it will happen. All of a sudden you are going to be standing there and if you don't have a belt on, your pants will just fall off.....You will be losing inches really soon and none of your cloths are going to fit. This is called and NSV! Yet, you better get that pocket book ready! It will happen...... CONGRATS on losing 89 lb that is nothing to sneeze at! Heck, that's a lot more than I have lost totally.....So proud of you..... -
Even years out, still discovering changes
ProudGrammy replied to lsereno's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
@@lsereno you are such a silly head doahhhh back at ya like some/.many/most of us...... your tummy was probably near the steering wheel (like me) you needed plenty of room now that you are miss "cute, hot, sexy, mini ) you don't need all that extra room NSV's for newbies et al are great, normal/frequent but when you are 2.5 years old!!! you/me/we really appreciate them!!! keep up the good job (i know you will!!) kathy congrats -
why is this a bad day? It sounds like an NSV to me! I don't know how much you've lost, your sig doesn't state it. But if you've lost a significant amount of weight really fast, you will probably have dramatic results in your face. This is one of the first things that many people notice in many of the RNY people. and yes, 12 hour day when you first get back to work is a little much.

WHHooohoooooo! I am down 7 lbs, I only have 4 more to go to be under 300 lbs. Can I get a Whot Whot!!! Hell Yes. I have worked out everyday and I feel great. It gets so much easier when you do it everyday. My dd is doing so good and working out with me. "Small nsv" we went to the store today to get the last few things I needed for surgery. We went past the cookies, and my ds said "mom lets get cookies", Before I could say anything My dd piped up and said "Kaleb, thats not very healthy". All I did was smile. We then went and got yogurt instead.. I went and had my "last supper" today. I went to cici's for cinn rolls. I did good and had a big salad with low fat dressing and 3 cinn rolls. That will be the last time I ever have a cinn roll from cici's. I will never go back... I tried on a pair of shorts today and could not get them buttoned but I did get them over my hips.. LOL they are safe in my dresser and waiting till the day I can put them on, button them, and have lots of room to move... I have 7 days left... Yeahhhhh This waiting is KILLING me. While I wait: 1 1/2 hours on cross trainer 300 crunches 100 leg lifts 3 sets 15 curls 3 sets 15 press DD 20 mins cross trainer 100 crunches 50 jumpin jacks 28 leg lifts

I can cross my legs with comfort

what a fab NSV... funnily enough, my hubby mentioned this to me the other day... I too didn't realise I was doing it! Ain't it great! =] -
So Ive been browsing the site and replied to many others with well wishes and finally my day is here on Wednesday, July 26th! I am just sooo excited that I can't contain it internally. I am literally salivating at the thought of the losers bench; the extra energy; the lighter body to finally hold a plank for 2+ minutes; easier push ups; easier stair climbing the treacherous NYC subway stairs. Just can't wait for life to finally be grand! And one NSV - I will finally since the age of 12 not have to go to the "Plus Sized" department!!! My pre-op diet with my surgeon is only required for 2 days but I will start it on Sunday instead. All clear liquids only - no protein shakes nor meals. May be tough but it will surely be worth it. Are their any potential sleeves for July 26th as well. Would be great to encourage one another. [emoji3][emoji1437]

I took a friend to the hospital today for tests. After they told me I could go get my car and pick her up outside the front entrance. So I was walking a long and there was a mom and a little girl behind me.... The little girl was chattering away about everything and nothing. Then she stops and says, 'mommy why is that lady's leg so little?' I knew she was talking about me because we were the only ones around. Her mother did not miss a beat! She said,' honey I think she was born with them like that.' I looked around and the mother smiled faintly at me hoping I did not hear. I smiled back. I thought, " you should have seen me two years ago, they would have been hidden from view." Is that a NSV or just an observation by a little girl with big blue eyes!

Got Surgery Date And Great Feedback! :d
lml32937 replied to amwr6582's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats! if there is 1 peice of advice I can offer (taking with a grain of salt of course) don't get yourself worked up or obsess on fixating on a specific weight you want to be at this time. From personal experience- Your surgeon knows what's best for you and your body type- You cannot go by the charts in doctor's offices.. Take 1 day at a time and take into consideration all of the inches, healthier choices you are making, smaller clothes, NSV's (non scale victories) etc. I did not set out with a certain poundage in mind- NEVER owned a scale until after my procedure and am very happy with my results. I have surpassed my surgeon's goal for 1st year out and am continuing to loose and feel so much better about it, my other goals and where I want to be in a year, 2, 3 etc... Good luck! you wont regret it!! -
Small Goals Make It Seem Achievable...
emily_0192010 replied to jhansen71's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I never set official goals, but I did not look at the long-term either. I suppose my next goal was also the next pound. I celebrated every pound down and I still do! It is most definitely the small victories and our NSV's that make this journey not only possible but enjoyable as well. -
Scared/second thoughts
Healthy_life2 replied to shanshan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Being scared and nervous can make you question your decision. Normal pre surgery jitters. I’m sure your surgeon gave you the statistics and risk/complication facts. Your team is going to take good care of you and manage your pain with medication. The pain is temporary, your results will be amazing. As for all the horror stories, I think its human nature to gravitate toward the negative posts. It will fuel your pre surgery aniety. Try to balance things out by reading the positives. Surgery before and after’s https://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/297668-i-want-to-see-before-after-pics-contd/ Success stories https://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/1298-weight-loss-surgery-success-stories/ NSV's https://www.bariatricpal.com/search/?q=NSV I think many of usthat have bounced back from surgery quickly and had no complications don’t get represented. People that are maintaining no longer need support leave the site. Most people posting are in weight loss mode, a few with complications and people that have gained weight. -
For Anyone Wondering If The Lap Band Is Worth It.......
kll724 replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on one great NSV, Floridays! You deserve all the compliments you get! (Go Seminoles )!!Karen -
This was a surprise. I used to go every 4 months for a teeth cleaning as I had the early signs of peridontal disease. I guess I got so focused on plastics that I sorta got off track and haven't been in a year. i went yesterday, and they declared my gums much improved, I am now on a normal 2X a year cleaning. I thought that was so strange given the situation - I was expecting bad, not good news. The hygenist mentioned that overall health improvements often bring about improved gum health. Anyone else experience this unexpected NSV?

It's the little things
ProudGrammy replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
gamegirl i don't think there is such a thing like "little things"/NSV's anything new you accomplish, big or small, WooHoo!!!! the airport has so many vending machines/junk/danish/temptations!!! hard to resist but you did great!!!! applause, applause!!! dinner with client - soft food???? not sure what to suggest even though you are done with liquids - have a nice hot bowl of soup say you just are "getting over the stomach flu" no reason to say more then/and in the future in similar situations they should MYOB - but you better not tell them that!!!!! 24 lbs down you are doing great keep up the good job kathy congrats
