    Late June Sleeve Buddies?

I lost 20lbs. I been in the 3 week stall for 2 weeks now. Hopefully this is the week Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Sent from my iPhone Well done on losing those 12Ibs.. Loss is a loss no matter how much, have you been losing weight every week? Or have you perhaps been in the dreaded 3 week stall still??? I luckily only had a stall for 4 days and then the weight loss continued but a LOT of people hit a stall after 3 weeks, lasting up To 6 weeks.. But after that period the weight rapidly comes off apparently! I just focus on Protein protein protein, I have 6 little tiny meals per day and a protein shake! I don't excersize, I honestly don't have the energy. Keep your head up and make sure you're following your doctors meal recommendations. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

No wonder I always gave up

So here I am in the midst of a 3 week stall. I eat much less than I used to, and certainly at enough of a deficit that the weight should be falling off week after week. I know this is normal, and I know it will pass. But it has got me thinking about how I felt in the past. In the past, when I ate like this (bird-like, half portions, healthy choices) it was sheer misery. I'd count the minutes to my next meal or snack and fixate on the empty gnawing of my stomach. Then I would see the scale just SIT. STILL. No changes, no loss, nothing different, and then I would completely give up. Get in the car, drive to McDonalds, and get a 2 cheeseburger meal supersized with a coke and a chocolate shake for dessert. I am ever so grateful for my lap band because not only is that type of binge absolutely out of the question, I don't feel miserable It's quite peaceful, really. Even though my loss is stalled it doesn't mean it's the end. It doesn't mean I've failed and it doesn't mean I have to go back to my old ways because it's useless living a life a deprivation with no results. As much as I'd love to see the numbers fall on my scale, at least I know it will pass and I'll get through it, and I don't have to suffer from the white-knuckled denial I used to experience. Just an observation. WLS is truly a game-changer.

Day 13- no weight loss in 3 days

I had a 3 weeks stall at 2 weeks! I was so bummed but boy did the inches fall off at that time. The scale may not be moving but your still losing. Hang in there. I'm almost 3 months out and I've stalled 3x!!! I had RNY in April and have lost 44 pounds. Slow loser but that's perfectly fine with me. Take measurements. You'll be surprised

@@albare1978 You are in the typical 3 week stall. How much Protein are your getting? Are you getting enough fluids? Just keep to the plan and you will start to lose again.
  12. 169.2. After starting the challenge with a 3 week stall & that big loss last week, I'm ok with not hitting my challenge goal. Thank you so much for doing this!! Can't wait for the next one!

    Late June Sleeve Buddies?

I think my 3 week stall has begun...I was losing 1lb/day, then lost 3 Friday and the scale hasn't budged since. I'm writing down everything that goes in my mouth, so I know it's not something I'm doing but it was fun watching the weight go down vs seeing the same number. I'm betting on 5 days then I'm back being a loser! Happy Sunday, everyone! And Maggie, are you ok? I've been wondering...
  15. I had my vsg June 23rd. 349 starting weight, 319 at surgery, currently 299. Boy it's great not looking at that 3 at the front of the scale... never again! I have been stuck at 299 for about 6 days but I understand the "3 week stall" is quite common... Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App
  16. I've been stuck on the 3-week stall I didn't know it was a thing but for the last week I have not lost any weight and was getting very discouraged. Couldn't understand how I could be taking in so few calories and not losing but I do feel it's going to start dropping again looking forward to it. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App

    My work here is done

Some "vets" may leave due to: People giving arrogant replies to their posts, because they didn't want to hear the truth and wanted someone to coddle them or condone bad or potentially harmful behaviors. Reading for the umpteenth time about "drinking through straws", "3 week stalls" etc.. But out of fairness, for a newbie, it is a new question to them (even though there are numerous posts that could be searched here for the same answers). They are comfortable in their journey and no longer find much value for them here (although, there are always informative posts/replies constantly being made, helpful hints, recipes, websites referenced for info and even posts just for laughs). People whether a "newbie" or a "vet" can give helpful information at any stage of their journey. Granted someone who just had bariatric surgery (or is awaiting) can not tell you their first hand experience at the 1 year post surgery mark, but they may have an interesting question to ponder or relay information they researched or learned regarding that. But in any case, information should be researched and verified and possibly discussed with a person's surgeon and/or nutritionist before acting on the advice. Not all advice, even when accurate, can be applied to everyone due to different medical, nutritional, psychological and physical requirements. Sometimes people (at any stage of this journey) are misinformed or misunderstood advice and relay that incorrect information with good intent. Sometimes people give medical advice with no medical background when someone really should contact a healthcare professional. Along the lines of information received over the internet from strangers that are not verified, I need to go to the bank and wire over $10,000 to a prince in a 3rd world country who won the lottery that he can't cash, so I can buy his ticket.
  19. Help!!! I converted from Lapband to bypass 3wks ago and at my 2wk appt my doc ok'd me to have Wendy's chili and chicken and ground turkey etc as long as I chewed it well. I'm assuming she transitioned me because I had a previous surgery. However, preop included I lost 39lbs but since real food I'm back up 4lbs. I know about the 3 week stall but wouldn't I had lost more staying on liquids/ purée/soft food stage longer. I feel like my doc sabotaged me. Anyone else transitioned early per doc and gained? Day 13- no weight loss in 3 days

Is it possible to have a 3 week stall in your 10th month post op? I am not losing weight anymore, its been a week, I think.
  22. So when I had my sleeve done 6/8, I recall asking the nutritionist if I'd be able to eat regular food for our family's annual 4th of July trip to Vegas. She assured me I would. So flash forward to last Wednesday, my 3 week surgiversary and the day before our trip. I'd heard about 3-week stalls and I was a little apprehensive, but I was 39 pounds down and feeling confident. This weekend I had only one Protein drink. I ate pretty much what I wanted to, including a frozen lemonade and a slice of key lime pie. I had oysters and fish and ribs and chicken and even a little potato puree and some grits with my redfish at Emeril's. I had a Philly cheesesteak slider, but I did not eat at Craftsteak, which didn't disappoint me anywhere near as much as I'd expected. I even had a pretzel dog in the airport when our flight was delayed. No other way to say it...I overate and I was waaay off my diet plan. A couple of times to the point of feeling uncomfortably full, and once to the point of throwing up. Also, since I know it's a topic here, I should mention alcohol. I tried two adult beverages, and neither of them sat well. Both were, in fact, unfinished. I'm not normally a drinker, but when it's 106 degrees outside and you're at the pool paying $15 for a frozen lemonade, virgin or not, you figure you want your money's worth. I definitely got more bang for the buck from the virgin drinks. After all that I came home and I'd gained 0.6 pounds. I'm about to go to the deli across the street from my office and get a scrambled egg with cheese. Time to get back on track and over my totally self-induced 3-week stall. Truth is, I'm looking forward to it, but I also know I've got to learn to eat healthy even in social and vacation settings or I'm not going to feel my best. That's going to be a struggle for me, because I've always linked so many happy memories to food. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. I've read about the 3 week stall and even a 6 month stall. Anyone stuck/been stuck on a 3 month stall? I'm going into the 4th week of this stall with my weight fluctuating up and down 2-4 ounces. No changes in body measurements either. Protein goals and water goals met. Not sure what else I can do other than ride this out. All suggestions welcome!
