    Daily Menus for Maintenance

Yesterday Monday, Feb 3 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1.25 yr PO Sleeve / 117.7 lbs ---------------------------------------- Another day, another lack-luster effort to reign it in...I am now in "HEYYYY!!!" weight territory again. Didn't I just work myself down form this a couple weeks ago?!?!?...and now I'm back. I can't even console myself with inches measurements as I am bloated and especially swollen these days. Anyway. I am giving it the all-star effort to get back on track and get the good feels again: I dragged my lazy butt outside for an almost 2-hour, 10km+ walk earlier and I have to say I do feel better. I would feel alot better if I could have run it, but I'll take what I can get. I even did 20 squats and 2 x 1min planks. #smallVictories ---------------------------------------- 9:00am - black coffee w/ stevia 12:00pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + carrots + cucumber + 3 oz roasted brussel sprouts + 4 shrimp wontons 2:00pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + carrots + cucumber + 2 fl oz tuna salad (tuna, celery, mayo) + 1 soft boiled egg 5:00pm - 2 gin and sodas 7:30pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + carrots + cucumber + 2.5 oz avocado + 2 fl oz tuna salad + 2 oz roasted sweet potato + 2 tbsp garlic & herb cream cheese 10:30pm - 1 cup greek yogurt + 1 oz blueberries + 1/2 fl oz pumpkin seeds + 1 tsp honey +1 oz beef jerky + 1/2 chocolate crinkle cookie ---------------------------------------- Totals: 1915 cals - 110g Protein 98g NET carbs - 94g fat

    Daily Menus for Maintenance

Monday 2/3/20 I usually don't eat much fruit, but the past two days I have been loving these strawberries that a co-worker gave me. So sweet and delicious with the vanilla yogurt. The effect on my glycemic load for the day is huge though. I like to keep that under 6. 7 am- coffee/ cream 10 am- coffee/cream 12 pm- Alfredo chicken/ cauliflower rice 4 pm- 2 cheese sticks 6 pm- coffee/cream 7 pm- dannon light & fit yogurt with 5 strawberries 8 pm- handful of nuts- almonds, walnuts, pecans Calories-1019 Net Carbs- 28g Fiber- 5.2g Protein- 48g Fat- 70g Glycemic Load-9.1
  4. Hey Girl Hey!!!! Sorry for all your current limitations. You will get better! I have Lupus and Mixed Connective Tissue Disease (Fibromyalgia), and was banded in April 2019. To include being a massage therapist for 14 years, to say that I have the highs and lows! 1. First thing, try to get moving more. Ease your way into it of course... Swimming then when you're ready, lift light weights. (Made a huge difference for me and my Fibromyalgia clients) 2. Find a massage therapist that you can trust and that will listen to you and your body. For example, when you ask for a massage, say I want light to medium pressure, please dont use your elbow, thumbs to remove knots just your palm. 3. TRUST the process, I know pain is horrible and no one knows like us how it feels to hurt when someone hugs us. Best on your journey! I hope this can help a little. Uncontrollable binge eating PO

it can happen, yes. You need to get a handle on that ASAP or you're going to end up gaining most or all of your weight back. It's much easier to lose 10 lbs than it is 50. Do you have access to a therapist and/or dietitian? It might not be a bad idea to find some help...

    TOO SKINNY!!!

I looked pretty scrawny when I got to my lowest weight, but things kind of re-distribute after awhile and most people eventually look way better. Like you, my low weight was in a normal BMI range for me, though. as for trying to gain weight, don't forget that most of us gain 10-20 lbs during year 2 or 3 (some, unfortunately, gain more than that - some WAY more). I've put on 24 lbs since I hit my lowest weight, which I'm sick about and trying to re-lose. I don't want to be at my thinnest again as it was too light for me, but I would LOVE to lose 10-15 lbs, and it's a real bear. I personally wouldn't try to gain weight because you're likely to do so on your own without much effort once you're in year 2 or 3. In the mean time, things will shift around and you'll likely look much better in about six months, even at your current weight.

    Daily Menus for Maintenance

Sunday 2/2/20 I was planning to eat just dinner Sunday, but I ended up having a snack around 10 pm before heading to bed. I did keep my calories down and I went about 23.5 hours between dinner Saturday and Sunday. 9 am- coffee/half-half 2 pm-coffee/half-half 6:30 pm- keto alfredo chicken bake, riced cauliflower 7 pm- coffee/half-half 10 pm- Dannon light & fit vanilla yogurt with 5 small strawberries Calories- 774 Net Carbs- 22.6g Fiber- 6.7g Protein-32.4g Fat- 41.8g Glycemic Load 9.1
  8. Yesterday I planned to eat just one meal. I ate dinner at about 6:30 which was just about 30 minutes shy of 24 hours since my last meal. I did drink 2 large cups of coffee and plenty of water. I ended up having a snack after the group meeting about 10 pm,so I am not sure it was really one meal, but I ended the day with only 774 calories consumed. I went for a run yesterday morning!!! This was my first time since knee surgery 2 months ago to repair a torn meniscus. It went pretty good. I only ran 2 miles and I definitely did not push myself. I am a little sore but the knee feels ok. I ran then walked, then ran. I felt the pull to keep running like I used to and it felt so dang good. I am praying I can keep going with no pain.

    Test

Finally got my psychology appointment for 3/10. Medicaid makes doing stuff so difficult. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. If you’re someone who is patient you will not be able to relate! I just needed to vent because this sucks! I have every single thing done for surgery. Every piece of paper has been turned in, every procedure for testing done. I was submitted for insurance and approved. My clinic does not require any further testing. I have not one more appointment. I got a message today being told I was approved and that they are sending my file for clinical review, and to allow 10-14 business days. I would understand if there was more things to complete. But I am 100% ready! And then after I get the call for consultation, I will have to wait two more weeks to get into the consultation. And then who knows how long out my surgery date will be. This process has already taken 6 months. Has anyone else had this happen? Please tell me it didn’t take the full two weeks to get a consultation date!
  12. Trying not to feel defeated but it’s hard! I’ve lost slowly right out of the gate. HW was 285 in August , currently 218. surgery was 8/14. I have had zero complications, have felt pretty darn good from the start. Always met my protein and water goals. My dietician wants me to up my calories to 1200 a day, which I have been able to do sporadically. I was on a 3 week stall but just lost 1.6 lbs. She also does not care about carbs. She’s like... eat them. Wants me to reach around 90g of protein and 125 g carbs. I started at orange theory fitness (high intensity interval training) and have been going 3x a week. They are hour long classes and my average calorie burn is 450 per class. They are very difficult. When I started this I wanted to be 180 lbs. that is still 30 lbs higher then “normal” BMI. Now I just want to get below 200. Will it happen for me??? It’s just so frustrating bc it seems like for some people the weight just melts off. I guess this shouldn’t be a surprise bc by the time I decided on surgery, and after a lifetime of yo yo dieting I had a hard time losing even 10 lbs.
  13. i started crossfit 10 days post op......once my doc cleared me i knew its what i wanted to do. My results speak for themselves and not only have i lost the weight but ive toned up big time. which is what i wanted. I love it and highly recommend it.
  14. This has been a source of heart ache ever since my gastric bypass surgery on August 14, 2019. Right out of the gate I was losing at a slower rate then average And definitely slower than a lot of the folks here or in other Facebook communities. My starting weight was 285 and this morning I weighed in at 2:18.4 pounds. I am 5’6” and 41 years old. Since the beginning I have met all protein goals and on fluid goals and I have had zero complications from the surgery. All in all I live a pretty normal life considering I had my insides rerouted. Starting in January I added Orangetheory fitness to my regimen which is an hour long HIIT class. I go three times a week and It’s hard. Like very hard. I burn on average about 450 cal per class. My dietitian wants me to be around 1200 cal right now especially since I added the workouts. I have had starches and grains and that makes me nervous because I’m a lifelong dieter but my dietitian has zero concerns about carbs. Obviously she wants me to to be making healthy choices around carbs like fruits and vegetables, whole grains, etc. which I do. When I asked her point blank about carbohydrate goals for the day she said 125 g. I’m just feeling a little defeated this morning. I am almost 6 months out from surgery and was definitely hoping to be below 200 pounds right now and now I’m wondering if I’ll ever get below 200 pounds. I guess I just am looking for support or stories of people have gone through similar rate of loss and have continued and meet their goals. My doctor told me at six months it becomes much more difficult to lose weight. But for me it’s Felt hard since the beginning.I used voice text to write this so I apologize if anything sounds crazy.
  15. I was wondering this same thing. I had surgery on 1/10 and had very little pain afterwards. Suddenly over the last 2 days I've had a hot burning pain below and to the right of my belly button. It hurts worse when I'm sitting vs standing and walking. Feels like I've torn something or a hernia but I don't feel anything protruding.
  16. My surgery was on 12/23/19 and its been slow going, just plugging away at getting enough protein and water. Winter here is perfect for going nuts with lots of soups though, so that's fun.

    January 2020 Surgery Date

If Steri-Strips are used to close or support an incision then they should fall off in about a week or so. If they are still in place after 10 days, usually it is safe to be removed by the patient, unless the healthcare provider has said not to, as some wounds might need more time to heal properly.

    Pacemaker/Defib woman considering sleeve?

I don’t have a pacemaker but I do have a heart valve defect and had my sleeve done in December 2019. If you have questions definitely talk to the surgeon you want doing it as they’ll have you more than likely be cleared by your cardiologist for surgery anyway. I know it’s not exactly what you were looking for but I hope it helps.

    Lifting toddler after VSG

I think that you should give your dr a call in the morning. I wasn’t allowed to lift over 10 pounds until 2 months out. Hopefully you will be fine since you are so close. Since you felt some pulling and pain you should call dr to be sure.
  20. I also have BCBS of TN. You can have a BMI of 35 as long as there are comorbidities. For me, it was sleep apnea. Go on their web site and look up the requirements, There are 3 pages. One for the psych to fill out, one for the surgeon, and one for the PCP. There is a 6 month supervised weight loss requirement with the PCP. My PCP was wonderful. SHe documented everything that was required - previous attempts at weight loss, current plan - like using smaller plates and all other efforts. She documented everything for 6 months, (you cannot miss a month or you start all over), and even though I did not lose a lot during that time, there was no problem getting me qualified. I dont thing BCBS even cares if you actually lose much - you have to lose a little bit, but if the documentation shows that you are making a good effort and still cannot lose 10% of your body weight, you quality. The wording is tricky. That is why you must print it out and read it over and over until you understand all the ins and outs of it. Now, here is something to remember. BCBS will indeed pay for the surgery, pre op labs, and all that is associated with the surgery. HOWEVER< after the surgery, they don't pay for anything. So follow up appts, lab work, etc are not covered......... IF they are coded as "bariatric, obesity, overweight", etc. Labs need to be coded as "malabsorption, iron deficiency, chronic inflammation, etc - anything EXCEPT something that refers to the surgery or obesity. I got a bill for almost $1000 for my 6 month labs! I am having the office recode and resubmit. Just read everything carefully and make sure your PCP is on your side and has experience in getting these surgeries approved.

    January 2020 Surgery Date

I’m from the south- we never know what we will get in winter! The saying is- don’t like the weather then wait 10 min!
  22. I recently decided to start the process of getting weight loss surgery. I have an appointment for an initial consultation with a surgeon later this month. I’ve been trying to figure out the insurance requirements (BCBS of Tennessee) for covering my surgery, and I know the standard requirements of having a BMI over 40 and maybe having to do a 6-month supervised diet program, but I’m having a hard time finding any information on some of the other details. My biggest concern is that I’ve seen some people here mention a requirement for documentation of weight history. I have been morbidly obese all my adult life, but I rarely go to doctors. I went to get a checkup and bloodwork a couple of months ago, but before that, I hadn’t been to a doctor in 7 or 8 years, so I basically have no documentation of my weight history. I don’t even have many pictures of myself because I am careful to avoid being in pictures due to embarrassment about my weight. What is typically required for weight history documentation? Also, I’ve been on all kind of diets (Atkins, South Beach, Weight Watchers, Slimfast, Cabbage Soup, calorie counting, etc.), some of which were given by a registered dietitian, but they were a long time ago, in my teens/early 20s. I stopped doing fad diets over 10 years ago because I realized that yo-yo dieting always resulted in regaining everything I lost and more. So, I’m also worried that I won’t have sufficient documentation of my previous dieting efforts. It took me a long time to get to the point that I feel not only that I need weight loss surgery, but that I am ready to put in the work and make the changes that I will need to make, but I’m afraid that I’m going to have to wait years for my insurance to approve the surgery just because I don’t have official records of my weight and diet history. I know my surgeon’s office will have to get the details from my insurance company, but I’d really appreciate any info anyone can give me so I know what to expect. Thanks!

    Yesterday Saturday, Feb 1 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1.25 yr PO Sleeve / 116.9 lbs ---------------------------------------- Was a total lump on a log yesterday.
