Biddy zz 🏳️🌈 replied to Ladycop2070's topic in Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Forum
Hi there. I am 5’7 and 230 lbs so pretty close. I am having lab band revision to gastric bypass, on 14 December. Bit nervous but looking forward to getting back to the healthier, no knee-pain, clothes off the rack position I was before band failed, 5 years ago. -

SIPS in Seattle replied to Ladycop2070's topic in Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Forum
I am 5’6 (and a 1/2) my surgery weight was 226. So I’m very close to you. My revision surgery was 8/8/17. Good luck on your journey. Just remember this is about you and your health. Whatever anyone else thinks just doesn’t matter. You got this. [emoji1360] -
Sleeve Revision to Bypass due to GERD?
KristieAtkinson posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had very mild heartburn prior to my gastric sleeve. I wanted a bypass based on my high BMI but my surgeon was really pushy about the sleeve being a perfectly viable option even with my heartburn. He fixed a hiatal hernia when he did the sleeve. Heartburn was controlled for a year and a half, however it got so bad I was strangling on acid every night and 3-4 days a week I would wake up with acid coming out of my nose. I was taking two to three acid blockers and sleeping almost sitting up on 5 pillows. My surgeon did a bunch of tests including an EGD and gallbladder tests. Stated there was no hiatal hernia and no signs of abnormal gallbladder-function. He insisted it was a gall bladder issue though and removed my gall bladder. The heartburn did not get better. It got worse and my surgeon wouldn’t consider any other options. 6 months later I transferred all of my records to a new surgeon who looked at my old EGD and said I had a huge hiatal hernia and he operated and fixed it. Instead of nighttime heartburn, I had all day GERD. That was a year and a half ago. Now my new surgeon has done another EGD and a colonoscopy. He says the hiatal hernia has not recurred so he is in the process of getting an approval for revision to bypass. My understanding is the sleeve in some patients causes pressure that causes horrendous GERD & the bypass does not have this problem. It is my utmost prayer that that is the case. Highest weight was 358 and lowest was 179. I am 5’7. I’m now bouncing around 230. My questions to all of you. 1. Have you had a revision to bypass due to GERD? 2. Did it get better? 3. How much weight did you lose afterwards? I know it won’t be as substantial because it is a revision. -
How many people have GERD and get a sleeve anyway?

Revision surgery anyone?
tankheadmommy replied to breprih's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Yes, I will be having revision surgery to gastric bypass if all goes well with the insurance co. My lapband was removed due to pain and reflux. My band was placed in 2009, so I had it for a while. It was great until I started getting adjustments in order to lose weight. Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Hi my surgery is on Friday November 10. Just wondering if anyone was told to be on a liquid diet? My Dr said only 2 days... have you all heard anything different!?! Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app

May I ask what led to getting the revision? I'm scheduled for to get sleeved on Wednesday.
-
How is your protein intake? Are you getting enough fluids? Are you following your Dr's guidelines? Also, I have heard people say that they changed up their exercise regiment, increased their protein. Are you eating more carbs now? Just a few things to check out. Good Luck. And KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!

Had Sleeve 3 yrs ago and now being offered DS - What to do?
nytx57 replied to peijeremy's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I had the sleeve in 2015 only lost about 60 pounds. My surgeon wanted me to have the DS originally but I didn't want to. I had the revised DS that allows less malabsorption in March 2017. I am now down a total of 120 pounds. I loose about 15-20 pounds and then I stall for at least a month or more and them I start losing again. I have no regrets. i have gone from a size 4x to 1X so far. Be patient with your weight loss it will happen. Sent from my SM-G892A using BariatricPal mobile app -
I am going to have to get my lab band removed or revised. I am going to choose removed, as they are no longer performing the procedures around here and no one wants to mess with it if I have problems, which I have had tons. I have had mine for almost 10 years and was down to 115lbs. I have since gained 50lbs. While my insurance will pay for the removal, they may not pay for a revision to a sleeve. I have IU health plans for an insurance, and I can add my husbands insurance, which is ANthem premium, if needed. Does anyone know what the rough cost is for a revision to sleeve? What about just the sleeve portion? Anyone had any luck with IU health plans on appeal, as I am sure it will have to be appealed. I feel like I have worked so hard and put up with so much in the past ten years.

November sleevers
Mary Stokley Gromer replied to BabyFat23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry, think about your new life, new health! I had my band out in January and I wanted a revision but that wasn't going to happen. The pain will last only a short time compared to how much more you will love your new life. You got this!! You made it through the band and this will be so much better. Hang in there and ever time you get nervous, give yourself a big pat on the back for making this decision. -
I’m doing a revision/conversation from band to sleeve on the 10th. I’m starting to get anxious thinking of anesthesia and pain and worst to me is having to stay overnight. Anyone else feeling nervous???

Labs done outside of your surgeon?
shedo82773 replied to NJ2004BPD/DS's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
That is so strange. I have never had any trouble having my PCP order tests. They even fax my results to my Bariatric Center. I know that people always say that DR.'s don't or won't take on another Dr's patients. I guess we live in an awesome area because I fired my Surgeon and went thru another Bariatric center. In fact, my hubby had a failed revision from Lap-Band to RNY and our PCP ask a fellow Dr to do the surgery to put in his Wound Vac. Great DR too. How much trouble can it be? Just check the darn box!! LOL -
Surgery in one week, freaking out
Neens replied to Kikidi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wanted the sleeve but i had GERD and my doctor adviced me against it because in the future you might need a revision, so I decided to get the RNY instead. -
Happy Friday!!! Just checking in to see how y'all are doing. Any updates??? I just started the process of trying to get approval from Tricare for my revision to the sleeve. I was banded 10/25/2004 and did great until 2009 when I had my first unfill. Now my band is virtually useless and only causes problems, not to mention that I am 20 lbs away from my pre-banded weight. Tricare did pay for my lapband surgery with no issues so I have my fingers crossed that they will approve my revision. Either way, this band has to come out. Best wishes to all!

I was 226 on day of surgery (HW was 242 at first revision consult) only have asthma and back pain. This was a revision for me. Started with a lapband 7 or so years ago at a hw of 239. So glad I had the revision. -
Is this thread for DS and others, e.g., loop?
twotoo replied to BabettesFeast's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
HI Everyone, I am having the loop ds on 11/20/17 I would love to connect with people that are going through this. Is this your first WLS or a revision? This is my second. I had RNY back in 1999 kept off the weight through two babies two years ago,(16 years later) i started to gain weight and it just kept going. I find it hard to find people who have or is going to have the loop DS. most have had the traditional and most are very protective over it. -
I did! I am working on band to sleeve revision now but back when I was banded I started out at 252lbs and I don't think I felt a huge difference visually until I was in the 180s. Hang in there!

What Post-Sleeve Rules Do You Break?
TheNewMrsR replied to SassyScienceNerd's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I lost almost 100 pounds with lap band almost 10 years ago. Once the band broke I sabatoged all my progress by going back to the same old habits and gained 65% of my lost weight back. Hence the need for revision to sleeve. This time I have promised myself I will follow doctor's orders to a T. I will eat a better selection of food. Not saying I won't have a cheat BITE or TASTE now and then but it won't be my main way of eating. Two surgeries. I can't let them be for naught. I'm getting to old for this. I need to take care of me. Sent from my XT1635-01 using BariatricPal mobile app -
VSG conversion to DS or SADI/Loop
ASwinton replied to globaljuju's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
I had my sleeve Dec. 2012. Lost 120ish LBS, gained about 60 LBS of that back. I am now almost 2 mons out from conversion/revision to SIPS/SADI/LOOP. So far I'm doing good. I'm not sure how much I actually weigh at the moment or how much I lost. This time I'm only getting on the scale at any of my drs/nut appointments, I can say I went from a 4x/5x to a 2x.
