I didn't have the liquid diet pre-op, my surgeon had a different practice of reducing calories to < 1500/day. Post-surgery, I was on liquid diet 2 1/2 weeks but started soft foods about 10 days in.

Jane Fonda was/is smokin' hot. Barbarella, anyone? ...as is J.Lo...the 2019 update version of her iconic grammy dress was like jaw to the floor. ...as is every single person with the confidence to show em what they got (real or enhanced, lol)
  3. Hello! I'm 10 months post gastric bypass and chose that at my doctor's suggestion since I already had GERD, and the sleeve can make it worse. My diabetes is gone! Hope the same for you post surgery. My insurance doesn't cover mini GB, so it was bypass for me. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

lol I am such a dunce. That photo was probably a couple of years after the other. So still about 10 years ago. I really need to update my photos. Maybe tonight I will find a few recent ones and update my profile.

  6. I waited until I was 19 months post to have anything done. I still have weight to lose and I'm not completely happy with the results, I definitely needed the excess skin removed and it's helped me be able to move more. I know I'll never be 100% happy as body dysmorphia is a real thing. I'm just happy I'm not where I was 2.5 yrs ago. If you're interested start looking at realself and asking around. Hugs

    What were your pregnancy signs??

My breasts were actually MORE sore with my pregnancy after weight loss. My first son I had at 19 and didn't notice much breast tenderness or soreness or even sensitivity but THIS time it happened early and very noticeable.
  8. most surgeons want you at your goal weight for 6-12 months before they do body contouring surgery. Or I guess I should say your desired weight, which may or may not be a normal BMI. Most will advise you not to gain or lose more than 10 lbs or so after plastic surgery, since it'll affect your results. So....weight-wise you need to be where you plan to stay for the rest of your life. if you did it now but hope to lose 70 more pounds (and succeed at that), you'll probably need it done again. I personally would use the time to save up money, as you said, and also start researching surgeons. It took me quite awhile to whittle it down to a short list of about 10 - and then further whittle it down to the four I had consults with. Spend some time searching on here and other internet forums for names - and also, realself (it's a Web site that has reviews of doctors - most of them (not all - but most) are plastic surgeons, and lots of people post before & after pictures, which are helpful - since if you go to the surgeons' Web sites, they usually only post photos of their best work. You can often see more "normal" results on a site like realself).

    February 2019 weight loss buds

  11. Hi all, everyone seems to be doing really well! I'm down about 6kg or 13lb since I decided to tackle my regain as a New Year resolution. I have to take a lot of medications with breakfast and with dinner, so I was struggling a bit with IF. I get nauseated and sick if pills aren't accompanied by some food. I had to adjust everything so I'm now doing 14 hour fasting window, with a 10 hour eating window. Unfortunately, due to my long working hours, sometimes it's 12:12 by the time I get around to eating dinner. Hopefully, I'm still getting some benefits from this IF approach. It's early days. My long term goal is to find an approach I can use for the rest of my life. It would be great to lose some more weight and then finally figure out this maintenance business!

    Daily Menus for Maintenance

2/5/20 I think I will eat the 8pm snack as planned so I am posting this now. The strawberries will be gone tonight and now I am craving them. This is what happens when I decide to eat a little fruit. It may very well be worth it as long as my blood sugars stay on target and I keep up my running. Today was my granddaughters 19th birthday so I went to lunch with her and a bunch of co-workers at TGIF. I went over my carb goal today, but it is what it is.... 7 am- coffee/cream 10 am- coffee/cream 12:30 pm- grilled chicken breast with bacon, pepper jack cheese, avocado, and ranch type dressing. A handful of fries and 2 mozzarella sticks. 4:30 pm- 3 turkey sticks with 3 squares of cheddar cheese 6 pm- coffee/cream 8 pm- vanilla yogurt with 4 strawberries Calories- 1079 Net Carbs- 32g Fiber- 7.7g Protein- 79g Fat- 54g Glycemic Load- 3.4

    Safe meds for arthritis?

I too have horrible arthritis in my knees. The only think that can be used is a topical ointment. I have to think on the name. i think it is called voltaren. Do yourself a favor and try some turmeric! It must contain at least 10 mg of bioperine and 95% curcuminoids. You will be amazed at how well a simple spice works for inflammation. I literally went from not being able to walk without severe pain to no pain at all. My sister had surgery for torn miniscus and it works well for her too.

    I need a fill !!

They were supposed t be permanent although removable if a better solution came along. They are now saying they have a maximum 10- 15 year life span.
  16. Or stays off. Me neither. Fine, if they can cope with that even 3, 5, 10 or more years out of surgery. However, it's not for everyone. People are different.
  17. Jake - Just went thru the same thing 3 weeks ago and my answer is NO. I have tried but fall short almost every day, Plus I am cheating, For example this morning after Crossfit i took two pieces of toast. Butter and Homemade peanut butter (Honey Roasted) - That is about 500 calories but it took me nearly two hours at my desk to get it down. No its 11 and lunch is coming and not hugry at all. My Nutra girl have me hitting a few hershey kisses thru the day to get calories and energy. The meal powders add some calories but nothing for energy. It is hard to get the calories in without the carbs and sugar. Not sure how much you can eat but i can not eat that much at all. Unless its junk food for calories it is very hard to do. I stopped and stalled at 850 Calories so as long as i hit that I do not loose any more. By the way you Rocked this weight lose, we both had surgerys within 10 days - I actually am finding this to be harder then losing weight- Quick question you skin getting tighter from Working out? Mine is not or very little

Yes, it will be on the site--if I can ever figure out how to configure it. LOL! I'm working on it. So you can use any size waffle maker. You just center the chaffle in the middle of your machine. You can get them used at GoodWill or Thrift Stores for about $10. You can order this from Amazon for $9.99 https://amzn.to/2GVCDU7 The batter/dough is very thick and sticky. They need to be pressed out and thinned to crisp up. So I don't think they would work as pancakes. But here is a recipe for my silver dollar pancakes that works well. Here's the biscuit mix recipe that you make ahead and store: https://fluffychixcook.com/mile-high-keto-biscuit-mix-low-carb/ Then here's the pancake recipe: https://fluffychixcook.com/mile-high-silver-dollar-pancakes-low-carb-gluten-free-options/ And here's another one: https://fluffychixcook.com/psylli-pumpkin-spice-pancakes-low-carb-induction-inspired-gluten-free/

I just finished watching the new Terminator movie and Linda Hamilton looks incredible in it! I lost 35 pounds before my surgery on 8/21/19. As of this morning, I am down a total of 107 pounds from my highest weight so even if I never lose another pound, I would not have a thing to complain about. This was still the best decision of my life but I am hoping to keep on losing to get closer to my goal weight. I look at your pics and cannot even imagine myself being as successful as all of you. You give me the drive to keep going.

    The Maintenance Thread

Okay, so I’m home and have had a bit of time to process. One thing I realized is that in my entire adult life, I have never been at a weight that was one I wanted to stay it. It was always about losing the next 10 lbs, or whatever. Even when I was gaining I knew I needed to lose weight, so I was in that mindset. I was just beating myself up for what I weighed and for still gaining. This feels very very odd. Here is what I’m hoping for: building up my endurance so that I can go on 12 mile trail runs again. Last time I was up to that I weighed 230 lbs, so I’m interested to see the difference. Already hills are a VERY different experience. Right now when I run for more than 30 minutes, my body is trashed the next day. Not surprising, as I’ve been very low carb and low calorie. So my first priority is to get that in better shape. My dietician said to add in complex carbs and 2 snacks a day and see where that lands me. We are moving my powerlifting equipment out of the garage and into the house. My blood pressure is pretty low, and I get dizzy if I bend over too far, get up from laying down, etc. So it being in the garage was a safety issue (nobody was around). I’m looking forward to making headway in that area, too. In addition to being a longer distance runner, I was also a decent powerlifter a few years ago. My body composition will change as a result of my increased activity. I’m looking forward to feeling strong and fit again. i almost forgot! They printed out my intake photo. I’m including an after/current.

    High DEDUCTIBLE

Here are some basics that I hope will help you - there are two basic kinds of plans. 1. You have a straight copay ( there may be different amounts for your pcp and specialists) and 2. A deductible and then a percentage (for a few lucky people that is 0, but usually it’s between 10-30%). When you have a deductible, that means that every year when it turns over, that’s usually in January but for a few companies it can be in the fall, do you have to begin again and meeting your deductible. Remember that you aren’t paying the full price of a provider service but I instead you pay a discounted rate based on your individual insurance carrier (providers contract with each insurance company for a set rate and those usually very across states and whether it’s in a metropolitan or rural area), how much ”usual and customary” price/rate. You pay the usual and customary rate until you meet your deductible, but once you meet that you only pay a percentage of the rate (this is called co-insurance). Once you meet your out-of-pocket maximum, then you pay zero. But all of that starts over when you get to the turnaround time each year. An example. Let’s say your deductible is 300 (wouldn’t that be nice, mine is 6,000!) then a 25% co-insurance. Then you visit your doctor and the usual and customary rate for each visit is $100. So, once you go 3 times you will have met your deductible and the 4th visit and those after for the year would only be $25 each. Don’t worry that you don’t understand all this, lots of people don’t. And there’s no reason you would without a lot of experience with either doctors offices or medical billing. Good luck!

    The Maintenance Thread

Hi guys! I met with my surgeon and my dietician today. After we discussed my athletic goals, where I am now, where I started, we’ve decided to go ahead and shift into maintenance mode. Realistically, I will probably still lose the 10 more pounds that I had in my head, but weight loss will no longer be my focus. I’m going to start working on my endurance and building up some muscle 💪 I’m fortunate that my surgeon’s background is in sports nutrition. Later tonight I will start really perusing this thread!
