pink dahlia replied to pollywogg's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I cant wait to be you ! 100 lbs is amazing !!!!!!!!! good for you for sticking with it ! some people think 1 lb a week is too little, but i think its perfect because it gives your body time to adjust and keep the weight off. Love those NSV's! too ! Good luck ! You're doing great ! -
Congrats! thats wonderful! I have had a few NSVs. My bras are too big, I need a belt to keep all my Ashley Stewart jeans up. I have more room while I drive between me and the steering wheel. Im excited to see what size I wear (was wearing a 24) and to see how much more weight I have lost since surgery Im so happy for everyone.

My First Week On Self-Imposed Liquid Protein Diet. (Start: 667, Current: 557)
Patrick Curl posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is the week, I feel like my journey REALLY began. I began a self-imposed liquid diet(mostly liquid anyhow). I got my surgery date! (July 2nd Yay!) I lost 10 pounds. I have been really pushing myself to workout. I just got back from krogers where I parked at the back of the parking lot, and walked as long as I could inside before getting a shopping cart to lean on - and then I couldn't find what I was looking for so literally spent like 25-30 minutes walking today.. Now last week I couldn't walk around the block. I've also been doing Ultimate Fighting Challenge on Xbox Kinect almost nightly, and am trying to start up turbo-jam. After I get through w/ turbo-jam I'm going to begin doing P90X - that'll be um...interesting. Each night before bed I do stair pushups as well and squats in front of the stairs(so I can fall back and sit down when I need to lol). I started w/ 5 stair pushups and am now at 20 on the 6th stair up. When I get to 50 I'm moving down a stair. My diet has been really good and I just feel really on track and motivated...though could always use more SVs and NSVs lol to keep me motivated - I just hope I'm building a lot of muscle which will weigh more but in the end help me lose more too. I'm attaching my weekly food/exercise journal - I think I did pretty good...except for Friday and Saturday. Each day is a new day, and I'm finding this forum to be a HUGE wealth of information and motivation. I think the forum is almost as good as the surgery itself! - -well not the forum, but the people in it, and the community here. Thanks for welcoming me! Well if you see re-shaping happens then you get the stalls probably because you're doing everything right - ie - - say you lose 5 pounds of fat but and maybe 3 or 4 inches, but you also gained 8 pounds of muscles .. see you got healthier but gained 3 pounds.. I wouldn't worry - the other NSVs are more important than the scale. Keep it up, you're an inspiration I can't wait to be where you are right now!
-
Yeah.. I think I'm throwing the scale away lol.. I need a lot more NSVs so I can start really seeing the change..like I personally notice some small things that seem different about my body like 'rolls' in the wrong place or moved or smaller lmao.. but would be nice if the scale could just confirm, give me a thumbs up or something that I'm doing good...is that too much to ask for? lol

WTG Lissa! Those fitness NSV's are the ones that are really helping us. So much more than just the weight loss. Keep up the great work!!

So, I did 35 minutes on the elliptical this morning!! A month ago I couldn't do 3 minutes without feeling like I was going to die! Go Me!!! I've been working my way up to this, 5 minutes to start, then adding 30 seconds a day. Today I decided to push it and I was amazed by the results!!

So my girls and I went to LB tonight to check out some new clothes and I could not believe that I was fitting into 18/20 and 22 clothes. I started this journey in size 34. I have lost over 60 pounds so far and boy what a difference. I came home and tried on some of the new pants for my husband and his reaction was priceless. "wow, now there's the butt I remember". Thought I was going to pee my pants from laughing so hard. Best day ever!

Better Eye Sight After Wls?
Pennie replied to lash44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a woman in my support group who no longer needs to wear glasses. At first she thought something was wrong with her eyes because her vision seemed worse with the glasses, unless she realized she didn't need them anymore! What a cool NSV! -
Way to go! I feel this NSV is at the heart of the invention of the sleeve. This post literally made me smile. I am so happy for you! Keep up the great work!

favoredone, that is fantastic! I can't wait til I have NSV's to share.

Hey Guys... So, I started a new PT job several months ago as a Karaoke Host/DJ... the company that I work for hosts an annual DJ Olympics where we have games, prizes, food and lots of DRINKS!!!... So, I participated in ALL of the games, that included a Hot Potato Relay (assembling Mr. Potatohead while racing another team back and forth across the lawn), Dart Poker, Dance Off, and musical chai to name a few.... Well, I didn't when any of them.. HOWEVER, I ran around the yard, picked up little bitty nuts and bolts, ran around the chairs (I came in second, cause I was CHEATED!!! LOL) and walked, walked, WALKED!!! Guess what?? I wasn't overly tired, my back didn't hurt and I fit in ALL of the lawn chairs w/ ease!!! I wasn't touching the sides!! I stood for hours at a time and felt really good (save a sinus headache from hanging out w/ 10 smokers for 8 hours!)... I've been a little up and down lately because of the scale... I've decided to dedicate myself to following the rules for MY SLEEVE and to enjoy this process... No, I haven't fallen in love w/ working out yet, but I love the sense of accomplishment that I get when I complete my workouts... no, I don't ALWAYS eat on schedule or the best thing every time... BUT, I try not to make the same mistake twice... if I do.. I get over it quickly and try my best to find out why I did it, ate it or bought it!!! We can do this!!! You can and WILL achieve your goals.. just stay positive and work your sleeve!!! And if you aren't dropping tons of weight, but you are gaining tons of energy, confidence and physical freedom to enjoy life, consider it a VICTORY!!! The pounds and inches will come off!! Enjoy your journey!!! Tina

6 Months Post Op Question..
Lissa replied to msaprildawn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aprildawn, I'm 9 months out and still losing. Like others have said, it's not at the same pace, but I'm now seeing the results of my workouts more than I did before. I weigh now what you weighed at surgery day, so my BMI was quite a bit higher than yours...which means I've lost weight very quickly. I too stalled/slowed down for all of months 7 and 8, but I've added more exercise to my routine and the NSV's just keep on coming. I lost 3 pants sizes during that stall, lol. Good luck. Just keep exercising and following your plan and you'll get to goal much more quickly than you could possibly dream you will!! -
Two Nsv's - One Work-Related And Signifigant!
emily_0192010 replied to Pookeyism's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats!!! I think those are the best type of NSV's because they show how our day-to-day lives change after the weight loss. It's the little things that we deal with that were so challenging before. Its wonderful to realize you accomplished something that you couldn't before. As for the shoes... my shoe size dropped! I lost in width and technically length. I don't think my feet are actually shorter, but rather I was wearing them too long before instead of going up in width. I think many people who have "wide" feet actually have double or triple wide feet, and instead of going through the process of getting fitted properly and trying on dozens of shoes in the "correct" size and none of them ever fitting... we just go up a size in length to make up the difference. At least that's what I think happened with me. -
Two Nsv's - One Work-Related And Signifigant!
Pennie replied to Pookeyism's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow - you have an amazingly physical job. That would be extremely tough for anyone in the BEST of shape. Congratulations on your huge NSV with work!! I've heard other people say they lost shoe sizes. I only lost width, not length. You might be right that there is something about the arch. If your arch is higher now (due to less weight pressing it down) it would make sense that it would draw the foot up and in a bit, which would result in less length. Very interesting! Congrats on the foot front too! -
Two Nsv's - One Work-Related And Signifigant!

Two separate NSV's... 1) I work in an office but I also have to go out ito our warehouse area where we hold our materials and stage our packing, receiving and shiping. We produce in our Indiana facility high-end specialty metal alloys - lots of molly, titatnium, colbalt, nickel alloys, etc. These things are heavy (Imagine 60 lbs in an 8"x8"x8" box) and can be 30' pipe or 1" fittings. It was inventory this weekend and every ounce of this material had to be accounted for. I am the Export Supervisor as well as Logistics Coordinator and inventory control, so I wear alot of hats. Inventory is a very crazy time for me. Normally this process KILLS me, it is too hot (It got to 99 here Saturday, which had the warehouse at about 106-110 depending on where you were. I used to not be able to tolerate the heat like that, and the warehouse is huge and DUSTY - the materials ca have 2-3 mm or better of crud on them - I mean crud, not dust - Houston creates moist crud, not dust! lol. ACED IT! I had stamina, the allergies were there and bad but tolerateable, and I was able to get into nooks and crannies and in and out of tight spots - OMG! I bet I contributed to us being done in at least 2 hours or better than we would have, simply by being able to get in there an dlook around better. 2) I have apparently dropped at least a width and a whole shoe size. This happened when I went to get a new pair of work boots, and again with a pair of summer hiking sandals...Hubby was shocked....he was like - your feet are tiny! Well, size 8 normal width, which I guess is tiny for me. I did not know it was possible for your foot to get shorter! Will have to look that up! Maybe it has something to do with the arch, or the weight bearing on the foot. -

That is awesome!! So funny how they have that way of making you light up inside with their words! Congrats to you on your wonderful NSV! -
I am sure many of you that are further along on our journey have had a friend or family member call you "skinny" as a sweet compliment to your weight loss. It has happened to me a couple of times over the past year. Well, I knew I was far from it still but I just smiled and said "Thank you". Well, yesterday morning on the way to church, I was riding in the back seat with my 4 yr old (not normal) and commented how much room there was back there now. My son, as with most kids at this age, is brutally honest. He stated that I fit so well because I was SKINNY. Skinny? Me? Really? Wow, it is so awesome that my son sees me like that way. I am not the fat mom any more. Yay!!

Nsv! New Bra Size!!!!!!
Rebecca Cain Salpacka posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, after the first 15 lbs or so that I lost, I felt my bra getting to big...but i just didnt feel i lost enough inches to drop a size. Last tuesday when I weighed myself i was at 29lbs gone (16 of it since surgery 4/26). I had gone to the store with a friend, and as we passed the "intimate apparel" area, i thought..hmmm, maybe? Then i got gutsy lol. I was wearing a 50C, normally you would just try one size down..but i said what the heck and grabbed a 46C...it fit..and it fit great...didnt roll on the sides, straps didnt slip, and mega support! It is a Just My Size brand...but this means that I am not far from a 44, which means I can go into any store, and select from many more styles off the pegs, rather than just the JMS ones in the boxes...i swear i have worn the same 3 styles of bras for as long as I can remember lol. I dont track my measurements..one because in past years when I have...after losing a few inches I would assume that i should change size and then go try it on, and it just didnt work and id be disappointed...so this way, i dont assume anything, and if i try something on and it dont fit..i dont feel so bad. Now, if the lower body can drop as easily as the upper body, id be set lol...but ill take a drop...ANYWHERE on my body lol. -
Wonderful! . I remember the first time I realized that the towel went all the way around me. Something so simple--and "normal" is very exciting! Congrats on your NSV!!! You're on your way! Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk
