  1. I am about six weeks post op. I've lost a total of 30 pounds since I began the process in March of this year. I have lost 19 pounds in six weeks and was told by my surgeon that I have not lost enough weight. I am 48 years old, post hysterectomy, and struggle to do my very best, but the scales don't move. I have resorted to putting up the scales, because at this point I have lost any motivation. I will keep doing my best to eat right but I am over it. My doctor told me that when I come back, 09/24, I should be down at least 20 more pounds. How in the world? I drink protein shakes, I put protein powder in my drinks, I drink water.....I am even exercising. What more can I do? I am at my wits end.

2nd Dilated Pouch within one year

I've been banded since 2005 also. I went through this once and have realised that there's really only so much a band can do. No restriction is ever going to be able to stop you eating when you're not evem really hungry and no restriction is ever going to make good food choices for you. You cant just keep getting tighter forever and at four years out, I decided that the band has really dont what it can for me weight loss wise and any further tightening would be really silly. I find I no longer have that initial enthusiasm, I'm not motived by or excited by constant weight loss as I hit goal a good 2 years ago now and I just dont really have much left to lose. So I find its harder to make good choices. I'm much much more likely to eat junk these days because I can - i dont gain, I exercise a lot, I'm fit and healthy so there's just a lot less reason to avoid it. This worried me and I went and got more fill. But I dont think it works that way, lol. I just got too tight and had to take it out again. that was a year ago now and I havent gained an ounce, so I really didnt need it. I'd really like to see another 10 or even 15lb gone but I really know deep down, that only I can do it and going tighter is not going to help. Its all down to my choices.

    Diet V8 Splash

Diet V8 Splash berry Blend Wanted to pass on that I think this is delicious. Cheap = $1.38 for 2 quart bottle. Lots of Vitamin A and C and some Vitamin E. Only 3 carbs and 10 calories a serving. I'm starting the 10-day pre-op diet and found this at WalMart. By the coloring, looks like it will taste like regular V8 but it has a nice berry flavor.
  5. I got filled 3.7cc also in my 10cc band Dec 4th. I felt restriction for @ 10 days and then was back to none! My doctor told me that it rarely takes just one fill to find the "sweet spot". I have to go and be evalutated again before I can get adjusted. It feels like such a teaser to have restriction and then lose it so quickly! It does give me the confidence, though, that I will be able to succeed this time with my weight loss journey once I hit the "sweet spot"!

    Scars?

I had surgery on my foot when I was 19 and you can't see the scar. I had my sleeve at 40 and I got keloid scars. . I guess maybe you're more prone to them as you age? I don't know. I was originally thinking of maybe someday getting plastic surgery, but what's the point if I'm going to get scars like these?

  8. Hello, everyone! Just wanted to post my first thread on here and introduce myself. I finally got a surgery date of 2/9/10 after 18 months of pre-op requirements and 2 appeals to the insurance. Grrrr! I am so excited and can't wait to utilize this site for the much needed support that I am going to need. Wish me luck! Thanks, Lynn P.S. I created a weight loss ticker, but how do you put it on your thread? Help, please.

    Newbie

I am new to bandland as well. I did liquids for 2 weeks after the surgery and have to do another 2 weeks of liquids. My doctor will not do a fill for 10 weeks from my surgery date. I am soooooo sick of liquids but my 2 weeks did go by fast and I am hoping the next 2 weeks are even faster. I am ready for some pureed foods. Good luck on your weight lost journey. Get plenty of Protein, rest, Water and excercise. SW-240 CW-225 GW-150

Anyone had splotchy rash after surgery?

I'm 3 days post opt and my left leg was red. I did notice it in the hospital but kept forgetting to pint it out to anyone. I don't have a fever and it looks like today it's back to normal. Did anyone else have that? Eating is a slow process but going reasonably well. I too am having a hard getting water in my body. I'm down almost 10 pounds to date.
  13. I guess one way to look at it is, are you putting the relationship in just as much danger by not having the surgery? That is how my wife and i looked at it, I may not be around in 10 years if i continue on the road i am right now. Are the health dangers of being over weight just as dangerous to your relationship in the long run as it might be if you get healthy. It is certainly tough for those around you to think that what they have come to know in you might change, and inevitably change scares people.
  14. I finally got a surgery date, after extreme stress for the past few years. My mom passed away on Mother's Day and I flew in from out of state just in time to be with her. We had a very rough past few years losing both of my brothers, one to cancer and one quite suddenly. This threw my mom into a deep depression and dementia that got progressively worse. Trying to deal with it from another state was very hard and she didn't want any help. I got through losing my younger brother but my older brother really crushed me. I have no other siblings. Now, my husband has prostate cancer that spread to his pelvic bone. Our lives have changed forever. As long as the meds they put him on work, he can live for another 10 or more years. He has started hormone pills as that is the best treatment to keep the Testosterone down. I pray it works as my entire immediate family is gone and I'm terrified of being alone and living without him. His moods are up and down and everyone tells me I have to be strong for him, but I'm not sure I have much strength left! He wants me to go through with the surgery and of course I am, but I have so many other things on my mind. Sorry for venting so much. I am really lonely and scared, but need to do this for myself. I'm hoping it will turn my life around. My husband is trying to prepare me for a life without him and after 33 years of marriage and working so hard toward our retirement plans, I wonder what our future is. My pre-op is Oct. 10 and my surgery is Oct. 23rd. We should know by then if the hormone pills are helping. I hope all the stress I'm under doesn't effect my recovery.

Still seeing bariatric for annual appointment?

I am going on my 4 year anniversary this Oct. I have gone twice a year, every year. The last couple of weeks I've been toying with the idea of NOT going this year, (out of embarrassment). I've gained 20 pounds and even though my surgeon told me at my last visit that it's very common for sleeve patients to regain 10-20 a few years out, it's still difficult to accept. Nothing I do seems to work and if I'm honest, I am not working out as hard as I did the first two years. I will eventually get it together. I will probably have my general practitioner run the test this year. We'll see.....
