Jan. 16 2012- The Day My Life Will Changed

i was just banded dec 13th and its been very easy . i was in and out of the hospital in about 5 hrs ! i wish i had a roll of lifesavers with me for right after surgery, as the water and nonstop ice chips couldnt get rid of the horrible cottonmouth i had all day. im down 13 lbs, and 1 pant size ! wait until you have your 1st nsv (non scale victory ), you'll be so glad you did this ! good luck to you !

    1st NSV

Congrats, I think clothing NSV's are truly the best!
  4. For me, this has been the greatest NSV! Before surgery, I was on 4 different BP meds, at really high dosages. I've been working with my cardiologist to wean off of them. As of today, 2.5 months after surgery and 40 lbs down from my highest (consultation) weight, I completely dropped one med (norvasc). Dosage for Metoprolol down to 50mg from 150mg. Diovan is down to 80mg from 360mg, hoping to lose that one at my next check in. Diazide unchanged. This is amazing to me since I still have over 150 lbs to lose! I most likely will never be completely free of meds due to non-obesity related heart issues, but I am ecstatic over how even a relatively small amount of weightloss has caused such amazing improvement! Oh yeah, my swollen ankles are gone too! I have had a couple of low readings, i.e. 100/58. I'm averaging 110s/65-75, and I have noticed that I get dizzy easier when getting up too fast or bending over. Re cuffs: I have a wrist cuff and my doc is OK with it. I bring it in with me to test it against theirs every so often, and its never more than a couple points off.

    Who knew!!!!

Karen, Thanks for the tuna fish idea! I'm still anxious about starting real food today - I've tried yogurt and baby food, but I'm trying tuna tonight. I'm also curious if you added mayo or other fixin's to it? And again - our stories are matching up! I took off most of my steri's today in a long glorious finally allowed bath. Congrats on the NSV - I've told my hubby about what an NSV is and he's being a doll about pointing mine out for me. I just took a pair of size 22 jeans (my skinny jeans unfortunately) out of the dryer and put them right on without even unbuttoning them. Yay for that!

    Who knew!!!!

Hi everyone, I'm a Pre-Bandster... and thank you soooo much for your thoughts and ideas, you guy's have taken a lot of the 'Scary unknown' feeling I had and changed my perspective, now I'm excited and trying to imagine what it will be like when I'm in your stage. Jax your husband sounds like mine with the pants story lol. and what on earth is a NSV? I've heard it a few times on this site and have no clue what it means!lol sorry I was wondering, how long was it before you started seeing the weight come off? I don't want to set too high of expectations... I'm trying to find out as much as posible! thanks!
  7. Congratulations! I had an interview last week and found a skirt in my closet (Talbot's) that I forgot I had; though it would not have fit before. So a similar NSV. When I moved 3 years ago I gave away all my skinny clothes from the last time I lost weight. I did not want to pay to move/store them. This skirt and several other items were with clean Dry Cleaning clothes in the coat closet and thus got moved.

    Your little joys..

Do you have little things (NSV) that have occured that make you giggle with joy? I was showering this morning when I came up with some of my own.. I can't wait to: Be able to "fit" into one of those skinny "apartment" showers you find when traveling, at hotels. Not sticking to the shower curtain anymore. Not having to buy giant beach towels just to have that all wapped up feeling after a shower. What are some of your "goal" joys (like me), or some that have already happened to you that you would like to share with us?:clap2:

    NSVs!

I'm so excited! Today is the first day I've put my jeans on since my surgery a week and a half ago and they were much looser! I could pull them away almost 2 inches from my belly and they used to be skin tight and cut into me! I'm so exicted!!! I can't believe I'm comfy in my jeans! Also, I put on a ring I haven't wore in a while and it was loose on my hand! I can't believe 26.5 pounds would make that much of a difference!!! Especially since I'm not even two weeks out from surgery! Has anyone else had any NSVs yet?!
  11. November 11, you are just beginning to see how differently the men are going to behave. Women as well, enjoy your journey lady and don't start any riots, lol. This is a NSV.
  12. This is one of the hardest any of us will ever do. However, this has been the most rewarding for myself. There are times when I find myself worried that I'm in a stall, but after reading stuff from other members of our BIG LOSER's ClUB, I have decided to just go through the process and enjoy each new day. Today and the past few days I have had some NSV's (non surgery victories) like being able to bend down and tie my shoes and a tremendous burst of energy. Loving it. Even if I'm thinking about being in a stall, I get so into trying to trigger weight loss that I wasn't enjoying today. So, today I am choosing to trust that my weight will come off. Love it.....

Nsv: I dont have to wear bra extended anymore. My shoes are too big and I can see my own feet when I look down.

    Myspace question....

Ok, this is not a rant. But a myspace.com question. How do you become the #1 person in a group?? Not the leader but the #1 person in the group member photos?? This has happened to me and I am just curious..lol...is this a NSV for me????

    "Personal" NSV! TMI!

So I am literally giggling to myself while typing this up, but I couldn't help it. I had to share this. So I've always like to be clean shaven "down there", but it was always a struggle to reach cause of my big tummy and ended up being a LONG process. Last night I decided to give it a whirl and about 3 minutes later I was done! Woo hoo!!! I was so excited that it was so easy! Hahaha no more hairy scary monster!!!
  18. Oh I had a great NSV this past weekend. I was thinking about it this morning. While in Memphis we decided to ride a horse and carriage from Beale Street back to our hotel. When we went to board he looked at me and my SIL and said okay the smaller people need to get in first and sit on the outside. Me? Smaller? Now SIL is thin...but I looked around me and I was the second smallest of six other adults. Six months ago I would have been the second largest.
  19. Wow Leslie, I bet that felt GREAT!! I am no longer the biggest person in our social circle of friends either, even though I do not see it that way still. I have this horrible habit of asking my husband when we see overweight people if I am bigger than they are because I have no real perception of my size. I look in the mirror and see HUGE but I have no real perception of my actual size. Now that I am getting smaller I am no longer the biggest person anymore. I am still very much overweight but at one time I was the *largest* and its a nice NSV in itself to be smaller than someone, lol. Also today I was looking in the mirror and I actually noticed that my shoulders are smaller framed than before- I used to look in the mirror and see a linebacker- now I definately noticed a difference this morning.
  20. Allykat, What a great NSV!!! actually NSV's. I didn't mail the clothes as I'd hoped. I cleaned out my closet too this weekend. I ended up with more clothes to send - thought I'd ship everything at the same time. Sizes are from 16-18 on most everything. I ordered a box from the post office - I should have it today. I'll pack it up tonight and ship it tomorrow. Sorry for the delay!
  21. Why Am I The Only One Posting NSVs??? I know ya'll have got to have some great things going on...I feel so isolated and alone... I'll post another - hehehehe! My mom has been smaller than me for YEARS. Since I graduated from college and the pounds started packing on. She had on a pair of pants this weekend that were baggy on her. She wore them Saturday and mentioned she'd give them to me. I told her when I get small enough I'll wear them. She told me I was and to try them on - she'd move the button over a little if I needed it. I went into the bedroom and held them up and said to myself, "There's no way in hell my butt is small enough to fit into these". I put in one leg and then the other pulled up and thought not bad. I was prepared to lay down - but I didn't have to. They buttoned and zipped - I didn't even have to suck and hold my breath. I danced the jig right there. I know I looked like an idiot! I ran into the living room and had to show everyone they fit. Mom asked if she needed to move the button - I said NO, they fit. I took them off an put on my PJ's. I casually looked at the tag in the back - wondering 16/18? Nope - 14!!! A Size 14!!! I couldn't believe it.

    10 weeks post op pics

Stalls happen. Usually they say around week 3. I've had several. Some lasted days, and then boom. You won't be the "only one" the surgery doesn't work for. I promise. We ALL think that. Instead of the scale, try putting your jeans on. Are they looser where they weren't before? Can you pull up a pair of pants, not necessarily button them, that you couldn't before? Those are the NSV's we talk about. You don't mention other forms of Protein. Are you getting enough? THAT will cause a stall. Don't mess with protein requirements. Get it all in. Use your shakes. Walk walk walk. Good luck!!!

    Small Nsv's

I have to say.. This is NOT a SMALL NSV!!! This is HUGE. Congrats. You look incredible. Give yourself some credit. You have worked hard. Take ownership of it and enjoy it.
  24. Great NSV's ya'll!! Okay, I didn't get the email newsletter. Did all of you get it? I want to see it...
  25. I had an NSV today - I got into a pair of pants I haven't worn in at least six years! They're still 24s, but still, they haven't fit since school. Also - they, along with a navy pair and a kakhi pair I have, are the smallest 24s I have ever known of. All my other 24s are loose, but these three pair range from just being comfortable to skin tight. We need truth in sizing legislation!
