So Many Nsv..and A Few Sv Also :)
Stephanie Kelley posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on March 8th. I am down a little over 70 pounds which is actually not really hitting me yet. Here is what I have jumped for joy over. My scale will never hit the dreaded 300 mark again. It will also not hit 250. I have not been under 250 since my early 20's Bigger victories? I am no longer on ANY medication. supplements are the only thing I NEED. No more arthritis pain. NONE...EVER No more CPAP machine....and my kids are not afraid I am going to die in my sleep! No more antacids. No more blood pressure meds NONE!!! All erased from my life. YAY! Silly things to many that make me smile I ran 2 miles...and lived to tell about it...I did not even FEEL like I was going to die. My dog LOVES her 3 walks a day! (she has dropped a few pounds herself I am saving a TON of money...just the amount I was spending on soda and Snacks for my home was ridiculous! My kids are eating a better diet...hopefully they will not get my "fat" gene! and the #1 Victory Today my 1st pretty bra and pantie set was delivered and I can wear it proudly COMFORTABLY I have not had a pretty bra since I was 13 YEARS OLD !!!!! I feel FANTASTIC! -
20 min on treadmill and 10 min on bike. No back pain. Felt great! Also my stall is broken and I'm losing again. Was sleeved 4-24-12 and I'm down 51 lbs!

Hi gang! I've missed you! Something's up with my account settings and I'm not getting the email alerts anymore. Also when I try to use the App on my iPad or phone it says I'm not authorized for this forum. I hate I'm behind on lots of progress! I missed my 5/25 goal of 50 pounds, but that's okay it was my stretch goal. My initial goal was to be at 50 pounds by 6/21 and I'm at 49 pounds now (202.5) YAY! I think I'll do a mini stretch goal and try to be in onederland by 6/21. My 18 pants are getting loose, so I guess in another 5 pounds I'll need to go shopping again! I did have an AWESOME NSV yesterday. I went to the Starbucks near work (haven't been to that one in probably 9 months); the guy behind the counter said, "Did you used to come in here a lot?" "Wow! You've lost a lot of weight! You looked familiar but there was something different!" I do have to confess I've been avoiding my exercise like the plague though. Shame on me!!!

Great NSV, smaller clothes and doing physical activity that you couldn't do before are much more rewarding than eating that extra serving of food!

It's funny that getting your period is a NSV....but I agree it would be. Having irregular periods since my mid twenties, a little regularity in that department would be good. Thanks for the post. It's all the little things that make it worthwhile.

NSV is a "Non scale Victory". So anything you enjoy about your weightloss that doesnt have to do with the pounds on the scale. For example, I have ready that people are finally able to buckle a beat on a plane without an extension or able to run for the first time, or no longer have to buy stuff at plus size stores. Those cool things about getting smaller....

A little out of the loop... NSV? What is that??

I had surgery 5/8/12 so it is a few days short of one month. I lost 10 lb prior and 10 the week after, then stalled. I decided to put the scale up b/c I was obsessing. I plan to only weigh on fill appt days in the beginning. However, I had my third NSV. I am usually a size 20. I went to Target to look for swim suit tops b/c in 6 weeks we have a big trip planned. I was going to buy one a size smaller. However, as I began to try the plus size tops on, none fit. I went to the regular sizes and picked up a few tops. The one suite that I liked the most was only in a size LARGE. I tried it on and it FIT! Not plus size, not XXL, not XL, but LARGE! WOW, only one month out and I got to see LARGE on a reciept. Holy cow, that is truely what I needed. I also ran for the first time last night in over 3 years. I walked a mile and thought I would try to jog some of the next. I ended up jogging MOST of the second mile. I stopped 4 times for 30 seconds. I was very excited in the difference in my ability. I dont know if I have lost more than the 20 b/c I have not weighed but I sure love the NSV. Thanks for listening. Katy

Before surgery, I would sweat like a pig a the drop of a hat. People would often ask me if I was feeling OK. I was always fighting the thermostat wars with my wife. Now, at 7 weeks post op, the only time I sweat is when I go to the gym and even then, not nearly as heavy as pre-op. This is a NSV you can look forward to.

Huge Nsv!! Wearing My Engagement Ring For The First Time In 4 Years!!!
SashaWLS posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so excited!!!!!! I haven't been able to wear my engagement ring since I had my daughter 4 years ago. Yesterday I got my second fill and found I was down another 5 pounds and have officially dropped to below my pre-baby weight... So I decided to try it, and sure enough, it fits!!! While it was very tight at first this morning, my finger seems to have adapted around it and I can now twist it and slide it around on my finger just fine. It's not strangling me!!! I am so so happy!!! -

I cant wait to be you ! 100 lbs is amazing !!!!!!!!! good for you for sticking with it ! some people think 1 lb a week is too little, but i think its perfect because it gives your body time to adjust and keep the weight off. Love those NSV's! too ! Good luck ! You're doing great ! -
Congrats! thats wonderful! I have had a few NSVs. My bras are too big, I need a belt to keep all my Ashley Stewart jeans up. I have more room while I drive between me and the steering wheel. Im excited to see what size I wear (was wearing a 24) and to see how much more weight I have lost since surgery Im so happy for everyone.

My First Week On Self-Imposed Liquid Protein Diet. (Start: 667, Current: 557)
Patrick Curl posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is the week, I feel like my journey REALLY began. I began a self-imposed liquid diet(mostly liquid anyhow). I got my surgery date! (July 2nd Yay!) I lost 10 pounds. I have been really pushing myself to workout. I just got back from krogers where I parked at the back of the parking lot, and walked as long as I could inside before getting a shopping cart to lean on - and then I couldn't find what I was looking for so literally spent like 25-30 minutes walking today.. Now last week I couldn't walk around the block. I've also been doing Ultimate Fighting Challenge on Xbox Kinect almost nightly, and am trying to start up turbo-jam. After I get through w/ turbo-jam I'm going to begin doing P90X - that'll be um...interesting. Each night before bed I do stair pushups as well and squats in front of the stairs(so I can fall back and sit down when I need to lol). I started w/ 5 stair pushups and am now at 20 on the 6th stair up. When I get to 50 I'm moving down a stair. My diet has been really good and I just feel really on track and motivated...though could always use more SVs and NSVs lol to keep me motivated - I just hope I'm building a lot of muscle which will weigh more but in the end help me lose more too. I'm attaching my weekly food/exercise journal - I think I did pretty good...except for Friday and Saturday. Each day is a new day, and I'm finding this forum to be a HUGE wealth of information and motivation. I think the forum is almost as good as the surgery itself! - -well not the forum, but the people in it, and the community here. Thanks for welcoming me! Well if you see re-shaping happens then you get the stalls probably because you're doing everything right - ie - - say you lose 5 pounds of fat but and maybe 3 or 4 inches, but you also gained 8 pounds of muscles .. see you got healthier but gained 3 pounds.. I wouldn't worry - the other NSVs are more important than the scale. Keep it up, you're an inspiration I can't wait to be where you are right now!
-
Yeah.. I think I'm throwing the scale away lol.. I need a lot more NSVs so I can start really seeing the change..like I personally notice some small things that seem different about my body like 'rolls' in the wrong place or moved or smaller lmao.. but would be nice if the scale could just confirm, give me a thumbs up or something that I'm doing good...is that too much to ask for? lol

WTG Lissa! Those fitness NSV's are the ones that are really helping us. So much more than just the weight loss. Keep up the great work!!

So, I did 35 minutes on the elliptical this morning!! A month ago I couldn't do 3 minutes without feeling like I was going to die! Go Me!!! I've been working my way up to this, 5 minutes to start, then adding 30 seconds a day. Today I decided to push it and I was amazed by the results!!

So my girls and I went to LB tonight to check out some new clothes and I could not believe that I was fitting into 18/20 and 22 clothes. I started this journey in size 34. I have lost over 60 pounds so far and boy what a difference. I came home and tried on some of the new pants for my husband and his reaction was priceless. "wow, now there's the butt I remember". Thought I was going to pee my pants from laughing so hard. Best day ever!

NSV = Non-Scale Victory... and don't apologize for questions... that's so why we are here.
