I am 4 weeks out and I will have between 1/2 & 1 cup of food per sitting depending on what it is. Do you have a calorie mark that you have to hit? I was given a list of appropriate mushie food and these goals. Calories 800, Fat 22 grams, protien 68 grams. I haven't been able to meet them with what I am eating (I run out of time during the day) but am getting real close. This is my normal day 8oz protien shake 8am 4 oz carb countdown yogurt 10:30ish 1/2 cup tuna w/mayo and 2 saltines 1pm 4 oz applesauce or Jello 4pm 8 oz Soup or 2 oz meat and some vegtables 7pm I sneak in 1 cup of coffee some days and lots of Water everyday (except weekends - I am not on schedule then and do rather poorly at getting half of what I need) I should throw in another protien shake after dinner but I don't usually get hungry before bed (WOW, isn't that a change) Hope this helps,

Okay, so had my 2nd fill today. The nurse poked me 4-5 times with no luck; she couldn't "get it". It was getting quite painful. Fortunately, one of the docs was on his way in...so I waited for him for about 20-30 mins and then he gave it a go. He even had to try 2 or 3 times. He finally got it but only after I stood up (instead of lying down). It was much more unpleasant this time due to all the poking/prodding. Anyways, they put in 2 more ccs...for a total of 7 now. So hopefully THAT will do the trick. Mind you...once again I was able to swallow my whole bottle in about 10 mins and I felt nothing! Doc said if I still don't feel anything after a few days that they will check and see if all 7 is in there. He said there is a small chance that perhaps the first 5 didn't go in???!!! (I hope it did!). Anyways...alls well that ends well (knocks on wood).

That is awesome Shelley. Keep up the good work. With numbers improving like they are not only do you look 10 years younger, but you probably added to years to your life. I love NSV's like this. I am also 3 months out and was thinking this morning how funny it is that I no longer even unbutton/unzip my pants. They are big enough that I just slip them on and put on a belt to keep them up. These are pants that came out of storage because they were too small to wear for the past several years.

How often do you get your food stuck?
Wheetsin replied to Oregondaisy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The band is very random. Yesterday I ate 1 bite of food because the one time I tried to eat, I ended up sliming over it. Of course, I also drank 1 drink of Protein shake because later in the day when I tried to drink one, I slimed over it too. Today I had some lobster bisque, white chicken meat with buffalo sauce, and chicken salad pan fried (faux melt) with a bit of cheddar on top, and pepperoni chips with cottage cheese. Oh, and 8 out of 10 days I have first bite syndrome until 6 or 7 at night, and then I'm wide open. -
I was told no lifting over 10 pounds for six weeks. Didn't ask specifically about working out, but assume it's the same timeframe.

Sleeve to bypass
SleeveandRNYchica replied to LisaB9511's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had sleeve to bypass 10/21. Best decision ever! -
Hi I'm Glenda, I lost 108 lbs on my own, then decided to have gastric bypass to get to my goal weight. I'm so glad to join this group. I'm 3 weeks post surgery down 29lbs. I have problems getting my water and food in. I get so full so quickly. I'm afraid I'm not getting the proper nutrition. My fear is my upcoming vacation I'm going to Costa Rica. I'll be 10 weeks post surgery then. Very apprehensive about how I'll manage my food. Help please.

Hi. I live between E Town and Middletown and was banded 10/13/09. And looks we we both go to the same practice, Dr. Davidson is my doctor. Is so nice to see someone from my area. Do you know if there's a support group there? Terri

Ok fellow bandsters. So I was banded on June 16 of this year. It took me awhile to actually start losing weight but once I started it was coming off pretty easily. I've lost almost 30 pounds and am quite pleased with myself for that. However, I've been fluctuating between the same two pounds for the past month. I'm at the weight I was at for about four years before I up and gained another 30 or so. So I've lost what I put on the past year and now I can't seem to get any lower. I monitor what I eat through myfitnesspal (my username is mbcr920 if you want to add me!) and I've always been doing some form of exercise. I've really kicked it up this past week trying to bust through this plateau. I've been doing an hour of strength with my husband along with cardio. So maybe I just haven't seen the results from that yet, but mostly I'm just wondering what some of y'all do to get past them. I was going to the doctor every three weeks or so but then last time she decided I was doing well on my own (which I was) and that I could wait six weeks to see her again. So I've got two weeks until my next appointment and a goal of six pounds at least (I've lost two so far). Ugh! I'm just getting so frustrated! lol. I'm going on a cruise it about a month and was hoping to be 10 pounds lighter than I am now and I need to get past this stupid plateau! Please help

Sewing clothes for rapid weight loss?
Libby63 posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I ran across this video which has a pair of pants with Velcro in the waistband that can get you through a few sizes: https://youtu.be/oTxDpaYeuEw Starting at minute 7:19. I was wondering if any of you sew and can share pattern numbers that have worked best for you as you have lost weight? -
I had the lap band on March 15th 2017. I started off weighting 205. Today i weight 185 a total weight loss of 20 pounds in 4 months. Is this normal shouldn't it be more? I have a 10 cc band and currently have 6.5 cc in it. I been working out 4 to 5 times a week and feel like I'm not losing anything for all the hard work I'm doing... Also i have PCOS and i thought this would help it but no luck yet... I'm thinking i should have got the sleeve... Any thoughts or words of encouragement. Or how's the weight loss for everyone else going at 4 months in?? Please help... Sent from my SM-G935P using BariatricPal mobile app

Does PBing happen even without being at your ideal level of restriction?
Cheryl Ann posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my second fill a couple of weeks back, and went up to 4.5 cc. At 5 cc I couldn't swallow Water, so .5 was taken out, and everything was/is fine. A couple of times this past weekend and today I ate the "wrong" foods too fast, and PBd (not a pleasant experience!). Yesterday it was on a hard pretzel (the snack-size kind), but today it was a doozy -- a steamed veggie spring roll. I slimed and spit up for a good 10 minutes. So my question is: How does PBing correspond with restriction? If you have a PB episode, does it mean you are at your correct level of restriction, or does it have nothing to do with it? I personally feel that I am NOT at an ideal level of restriction, so my guess is that the two aren't necessarily related, although I could be wrong. -

What size are you now?
music1618 replied to michelecaples's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started in a 20/22 and I am in a 14 right now, but they are getting loose. I would be happy in a 12 or 10. Actually I am very happy in a 14. Never thought I would see that size again. My short size is a medium or large. I am fitting into my hubby's shirts which was something I never would have thought was possible. My goal is to be able to buy cute bra and panties sets. I bought really cute panties last night, but my boobs are still too big for the matching bra. -

Those banded around 10/22
Sherry.Anderson replied to Rob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was banned on 10/24 and have weighted the same now for a week but i get my first fill tomorrow and hopefully will start losing again! Good Luck! -
Rob, you are not alone. I was banded on 10/22 also. I have not lost a pound since, OMG, I don't know when. For a minute I really thought my scale was broken. Like the numbers were stuck or something. As I read some of the post op forum comments and blogs, it's normal. Once you get a good fiil, you'll start loosing again. Just hang in there. I go for my 1st fill on Friday. Now, since I am able to eat with no problems, I AM EATING....LOL

Yep!!! I had/have Aetna POS and they require three months if you follow the multi-phase plan (monthly weigh ins, nutritionist, counseling, etc.). My surgeon kept telling me six until they called and Aetna verified it was only three. One thing I will tell you is they sat on my application for two weeks and no one touched it until I called the headquarters (only number I could find) and got to speak to a person in preauth. Once that happened they approved in less than 24 hours. I started the process in July and had surgery on 11/19.

Painful burping & hiccups - does that go away?
Away2me replied to MamaJava's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Totally goes away! I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and I had terrible hiccups the first 10 days. Plus the burps, my goodness where did they come from? That noise was something I'd never heard of and the length of the burp was down right impressive. But yes, it gets much better real soon. I still have odd burps, but that gets better ever day too. I think when the are doing the surgery they move the diaphragm enough to "anger" it! Thus the hiccups. -

Calorie Intake pre band and post band
kansascase replied to Claudine1975's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have the same problem as you - we are short. When you are short, you just can't eat the same amount of calories that others do. It is not really fair. If you or I have a Big Mac, we can't eat anything else all day - no fries, sodas, salads, etc. I am surprised that the doctor didn't recommend a high protein (90%) with 10% complex carbohydrates. It is quite effective and you really don't have to worry about calories although I would keep tract for my own information. There are a lot of "hidden" calories. Before my surgery, I had to keep daily sheets of everything I ate, where I ate it, when I ate it, how much water, protein did I take, how much exercise, and how did I "feel." I hated it but it forced me to look at the big picture or the big plate - ha. -
So, Ive been lurking on these boards forever reading all of your stories and hoping that one day I would get to share my story as well. I looked into the bypass more than a year ago when my doctor suggested it, I was fed up with my wieght, I dont seem to lose weight anymore I go on diet after diet to no avail and come out heavier than i started. I got diagnosed with pre diabetes, high cholesterol, hypertension and knew I had to make a change.. Unfortuanately when I started the journey then, I lost insurance and wasnt able to carry through, but I kept believing that one day, maybe, I to, would be a success story. I spent a year researching and making sure this was absolutely the option I wanted to take. Im really excited I have met with a nutritionist, I have a doctors appointment tomorrow, I have my psych eval set up in May and I have called my Cigna insurance spoke with them a couple of times and I have a 3 month waiting period with the dietician. I have always been overwieght since around the age of 10. I remember my doctor talking to my mother about getting me on a diet, and she declined saying it was stress of the loss of grandparents. That stress eating got me to the pleasently plump woman I am today.. The woman who feels like she has gotten to a point of no return. I actually lost a significant amount of weight about 4 years ago, I had gotten tired of it and completely revamped my life I lost 90 lbs! I looked amazing, I loved being alive, I had a whole new love for fittness that I had never thought was possible! I really miss that girl, and Im sure my kids do to. I got pregnant with my twins and the weight came on like no other.. I gained 80 lbs with my twins but actually once i delivered and healed from my vertical c-section them I was only about 30 lbs more than when i started. I of course had a lot of excess skin, something only cosmetic surgery will fix, but I felt good. Unfortunately, the next year and a half of sleepless nights caused my weight to spiral out of control, throw in every stress imaginable with being a mother of 4, working full time, finishing a degree, and LIFE and what do you get, ME! I know that my weight has put a strain on my relationship, I'm to the point that I dont want to leave the house because I feel so ashamed. My kids use to love when I took them on hikes and bike riding, and now it doesnt even seem obtainable. I feel horrible that I have allowed myself to become like this. I always put my children first and did everything for them and their health and making sure they had a good life and everything they could ever want, I just never thought my weight was taking away from them.. but now I know it is. As far as support goes, little to none, but that doesnt stop me I have always been my biggest cheerleader when it comes to getting what I want anyway. My fiance "supports" it but he got angry at me the other day and told me I was being selfish to him and he didnt have anything to look forward to and now i do. I know that when it comes down to it, this decision and my new lifestyle will cause some issues with us, however at this point I feel that I'm doing the right thing for me and my future. I hope that once he sees the changes in me, and starts to see me for the girl I was when he met me, maybe his attitude will change.

I'm feeling a million times better today than yesterday. Day 1 post-op was a lot of incision pain, minimal gas pain...I did get up and walk, got full on half a snack-sized popsicle, and got to the grocery store...so I guess I wasn't TOO bad. Today - Day 2 - I've been to the bank, post office, and just got back from a wonderful pedi/mani! I'm low on energy now, though, so I'm sipping some broth and ready to relax! My incision pain is at a 1 or 2 out of 10...gas pain is very minimal...I'm not gonna go run a marathon, but I'm definitely feeling better than yesterday!
