Nsv..a Small One But Means Something To Me!
Piplula posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hello all! So I am down 67# today..sleeved 4/3 and have been in need of some new scrubs for awhile! So I went and bought some on sale last night..went down 2 scrub sizes and my coworkers said that I have been hiding under the bigger ones ( well honestly..I was being cheap because the bigger ones are like wearing pjs.. But they aren't flattering) so I thought I would break down and get new ones..so today..I am rocking some curves! LOL!! Slowly but surely will win this race against the bulge! I promised myself I wouldn't post a picture until I wa 6 months out..and I will definitely post a before and after..but to me..this was too good! -
oooooh...i remember the first time the "regular" blood pressure cuff was used on me. I was doing internal self-fives. Congrats! There will be many more awesome NSV's to come!

While I have been getting the normal bariatric/nutritional blood work done by my bariatric surgeon, I have not had my "standard" blood work since my last physical about 1 year ago, which was right about the time I changed my diet as part of my pre-op/post-op weight loss. I just got the results back last night and it's fantastic! While I did not technically have high cholesterol, I was borderline and my good/bad cholesterol was out of whack. Here is the change from year to year: Total Cholesterol (desirable is <200): 2/22/16 - 211 1/4/17 - 154 Triglycerides (normal less than 150; borderline 150-250): 2/22/16 -124 1/4/17 - 77 HDL (good cholesterol, desirable >40): 2/22/16 -31 1/4/17 - 49 LDL (desirable <130 or even 100): 2/22/16 -155 1/4/17 - 90 Blood Sugar (normal fasting sugar is <100-110, Diabetes is >125): 2/22/16 - 87 1/4/17 - 78 As you can see, I have had massive changes in the right direction across the board. Even those that were in the acceptable range have gotten even better! It's amazing what a year of eating right will do for your body! Curious if everyone else is seeing these types of results. It's very validating for all the hard work!

the other day my sil told me she wished she had my arms! can you believe that? i am still in shock and i get this big smile just thinkin about it. i have had this fear about my arms being gross, so i have been trying to lift weights and, although i could be better about it, it must be working to a point! i was showing her my crossbow (generic bowflex) and she was telling me how she got a bowflex and then she pointed out to her husband how great (still in shock) my arms looked and she wanted to look like that. sorry to blab on, i just cant believe it. and then, sunday, my mom told me how skinny my legs are getting too! i had kinda noticed the same thing, but thought it was just my imagination. but its not. now if i could just lose this belly.....

I was almost was late for work because my 3x pants no longer fit. They were a special order uniform pants ordered a while ago for work that just arrived. Even the XL pants I bought and wore this week was loose. From a 3x to a loose XL. One lady at work ask me how much weight I lost in passing me in the hallway, I said a little. She said no way you lost a lot. Last my son came home for college and said how my Husband think I'm going to be a Hottie! Though I'm at a Stall! So what. I'm Happy about My my Decision to have this Surgery. Yay

That's awesome! I had a NSV just last week. We got a LOT of rain it the Chicago area all last week. At work, I park in a garage and have to walk across the street to get inside the building. One morning was downpouring really badly and I didn't have an umbrella, just a sweatshirt with a hood. I opened the door out of the parking garage and sprinted across the street to avoid getting soaked. Now, I haven't RUN to ANYTHING in years. I didn't even think about it, tho. I just ran to avoid the rain. And as soon as I got in the building and realized I had done it, I also realized I wasn't panting out of breath. It wasn't a long run or anything, but a year ago just WALKING QUICKLY when I was a little late to work could wind me. But I had just ran as fast as I could and wasn't affected at all. Not a huge NSV maybe, but it was something that caught me off guard. I'm by NO means 'in shape'. But I think it might be my body's way of letting me know it likes that I'm getting lighter.

What are your recent NSVs? I'm 11 days post op. And I have a couple NSVs: 1. My sister had a pool yesterday and she ordered pizza, wings and fries and I was not tempted by any of it! I was so worried about the food temptation, I almost canceled. 2. I meal prepped (first time ever) and brought my lunch and snack to the party. 3. I was comfortably able to tie my shoes while sitting in a chair. (Heeeeyyy) 4. I ran after small kids at a pool party.

Thank you! I still have 35lbs to go to but my first goal. It happens differently for everyone. I was very big. 332lbs at 5’4, very petite stature. I think that’s why it took so long. Plus there’s the “polite” factor. I think people shy away from saying anything about someone’s weight, especially when they are my former size. Just don’t let it discourage you if people don’t say anything for awhile. Take more pride in the NSVs because there will be many of them. That’s what makes me proud everyday of my accomplishments. A family friend who is 100lbs soaking wet, gave me great advice recently. She said, there are days where I pick myself a part. Days I feel bloated and fat. It doesn’t matter how small you are, there will be days. But the things that don’t come and go for me is the improvement to my health, not worrying about if a chair will hold me, being able to cut my toenails and tie my shoes, walking across the parking lot without being out of breath, taking my dog for a walk.... *those* are the things that i never pick apart. I always hold onto.

I watched the Hamilton special last night. Since it was a beautiful fall day in central Kentucky I decided to take a road trip this afternoon to a state park and listened to my Hamilton CD all the way there and back, turned way up! This is an NSV because a year ago I could never have taken a spontaneous road trip like that!

I probably have no right posting a NSV right now, since I realize my weightloss is primarily a factor of dehydration, but it's a funny story... First, 3 weeks ago I weighed 340 lbs and had a 54" waist. I now weigh 301 lbs and I was looking for some pants to wear to go to my son's indoor soccer game... ... and I found a 50x30 pair of jeans I'd never worn. I put them on, and they fit! Then I grabbed a 3x shirt (which is *almost* biggish on me) and put it on, and I looked really good =) I said to my wife "Man, I think I could go downtown tonight and get laid in this!" (Jokingly, of course.) She replied, "You could, honey, except for your belly." I stared at her, mouth agape, and she said "NO NO NO NO NO! I meant because of your incisions!!!!!!" Classic...

Today I made it to my 6 month goal (100# lost) 1 month and 2 days early. I am so excited! Here is a pic of me today in my size 18 clothes. The second shot is in my old size 28 skirt. I also have some fun NSVs. Tonight my husband took me to a fair and I could ride everything. What was even more fun was when he boosted me up by the waist to put me in a high seat. Another time one of the operators reached for me to get me down. It was great! Neither of them would have happened when I was big. Yay!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Haven't even had the surgery yet,but have NSV!
Crkrjax76 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since I went to the surgeon, I have tried my hardest to stop drinking soda. I haven't had once since March 15. Yesterday we went out to eat and I ordered water. The waiter brought me a Pepsi. Ice cold Pepsi!!! He walked away before I could say I didn't order it! But he came back in just a minute and said Oh I'm sorry, you ordered water, I'll get that right to you. But he LEFT THE PEPSI ON THE TABLE!!! I just pushed it to the other side of the table and DIDN'T DRINK IT!! Even when I was "dieting", I would have at least taken a drink of it! That made me realize I believe I am on the right path this time!!!! -
Congrats!!! It is always the NSV's that mean the most! You DO look fabulous

The best holiday NSV for me was the baking and eating a "normal" amount of treats without craving more. This has NEVER happened during the holidays. I was satisfied with one little piece of whatever a day. Years past I would be shoving things in all day long for two weeks and feeling sick...physically and emotionally. Another NSV...the after Christmas sales. Could walk in a store and just pick out small tops and size 4 pants (pants I needed to try on cuz I have a 34' inseam). My closet loves being full again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holiday NSV's! (Non-Scale Victories)
Crishell replied to BandedCG's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations! My holiday NSV is that I was able to finally zip up tall boots. Never been able to wear them because calves were too big.Tried on a pair and they zipped!! So I bought two pair. Then, as if that wasn't enough, a few days later I bought a pair of short red ones with a very pointy toe and skinny heel. That was a first too. The old me would have broken that heel in 2 minutes and would never made a step in them. I wore them to a party with a pair of jeans and made it the entire night plus walked around in Walmart with them-just because I could. :tongue2:
