I hope somebody find a cure for this ..I'll die if my hair falls out...just die

If you have already lost 80 lbs since May 5th, that's about 5 lbs a week! That's tremendous! Good Job!!!! You must be very diligent in following all the rules. I wish my weight was coming off that fast. However, that kind of rapid weight loss is prone to make certain people lose hair. When your weight stabilizes, the hair will come back. This I know from personal experience. Biotin is a product that works for me and it is very inexpensive at Walmart. Keep up the good work.

Yes it happened to me , after about the same weight loss and it scared me to death. I have heard every reason under the sun and I tried everything, but it does stop and your hair does come back, my hair came back as full as ever. I actually think it is the lack of nutrients but who knows, I am just a nurse not a doctor, but it does come back.

I am losing mine too. I hoped it wouldn't happen, but no luck! I heard the Biotin works and am going to try that, but do the Vitamins come in chewables? pills get stuck especially if they are really big. I am tired of my hair going down the drain! Congrats KePrincess on the weight loss. We were banded on the same day and I am only at 60 lbs since this whole process started for me a year ago. Keep up the great work!

Weight will stop redue after six months ? Is that true
NMJG replied to jack35's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
PDX has it right. My own thoughts on the topic, based on info from my surgeon plus my own experience: As your stomach heals, you can't eat much at all - perfect opportunity to lose fast in the early days, so take advantage of it. After 6 months, you are pretty much healed up, so more food is easier to get down (read "easier to screw up"). Your metabolism "reset" that allowed you to lose very fast in the first 6 months may start to slow down. My dr says the "window" closes around 18 months and weight loss stops at that point. I definitely lose at half the rate post-honeymoon than I did early on. One pound a week instead of two (I'm a slow loser to start with). My surgeon's goal was 60% of my excess weight off by 6 months, which I was able to do, even with my slow loss rate. I still have my food issues, but at least I am very aware of them now and I feel like I have more control. I know now that I eat "bad" food for reasons that have nothing to do with hunger. While I am not always successful, I do have some go-to strategies post-6 months to help me get through those times, and they work most of the time. I have the sleeve to thank for that because it never would have worked for me before. The honeymoon was a great period to work through these issues and learn good habits. Bottom line: you can lose after 6 months, however, it will likely be much more difficult than the first 6 months when everything is new. The honeymoon is a wonderful time for loss and not to be wasted. Best of luck to you. -
At 3 months post-op, I was taking in about 1000 calories per day. (For reference, though, I am a 41 year old man, 6"0" and around 250 at that time). I have followed a low carb/highish protein/high healthy fat way of eating all along (pre-op diet program, through the food stages, and now). So, I eat around 100-120 grams of protein per day, less than 20 carbs per day, and probably around 100 grams of fat per day. At nearly 6 months post-op, I eat between 1100-1200 calories per day. I weigh 215 now, so that number is still working for me. I don't imagine it will get much higher during my weight loss phase. I have about 35 pounds until goal.

I use Lose it App! And these weight loss apps can't understand our low calorie intake so I just log my few calories in it anyway lol

@@Sam58 Are you tracking everything you eat? Sticking to the required diet? And of course following all the rules: nothing to drink 30 min. Before and after, getting your Protein, taking your Vitamins and getting 64 oz. of liquids daily? If not you might want to reset. The other thing I would say is just because you can eat more or certain things does not mean you should. Right now I am paying for over indulging in too many carbs and too much salt. I know that I did this to myself and I know exactly what I need to do to get it all back on track. I had cheesecake and crackers just because I wanted it. I knew that it would stop my weight loss and I would possibly retain more Water because of it. That same day I also did not get all my water in. Totally my fault and I knew what would happen, I was simply hoping the stall would only last a day or two but I am now 1 week and a pound heavier. What most people don't understand is we have to fight just as hard as if we had not had the surgery every day to stay on track. The surgery helps with portion control, it does not decide what you put into it. None of us are perfect all the time, you just need to reset and get back on track. Good luck!

I hate to see anyone say that this isn't going to work for them. It will work! We're still very young bandsters. We'll get there! I get discouraged, too, sometimes. I plateaued for about two weeks despite doing everything I was supposed to do. It gets very frustrating, but hang in there. No one promised that this was a magic bullet. You have to work at it...we all do. Go out and buy yourself a stunning outfit that's two sizes too small, and hang it where you can see it everyday. Then promise yourself you're going to wear it, and work toward that goal. Sometimes looking at several small goals is much easier than looking at the entire monstrous task of the total weight loss. Please don't give up on yourself. I won't!

I had GVS Feb. 23, 2016. The last two weeks I've been sooo cold. It's particularly bad at night, when I first ho to bed. I've only lost 65lbs and am still at a 40 BMI. I thought this might be an issue when I'm "skinny" but I still have about 100lb to lose! Anyone else encounter this with their weigh loss? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Well, I am very new to this entire process and new to forums. I just started this process in late June by attending the initial seminar, then this past week I had my initial appoitment with the sergon and staff. Because I my BMI is 38.9, I have to jump through the insurance hoops. My insurance has the requirment of six-months of a doctor supervised weight loss program and two medical issues related to weight. My fear right now is jumping through all the hoops and BAM! Insurance denial. But I guess that is a bridge I will need to cross when it's time. As for the rest, I have only told very close friends and family that I am considering WLS. The reactions is what gets me the most. My good friend and co-worker was so positive. She knows I have struggled, we spent six months together working two days a week with a personal trainer. She lost thirty pounds, I ate my way through the exercise. Another "friend" told me to come over to her house and she would go through her pantry with me and show me how to make simple healthy choices. What? Seriously? I have two Masters degrees, do you think I am mentally retarded (sorry if I offend)? I KNOW what healthy eating looks like, I eat healthy (before 9 PM after that, it's all down hill). The last reaction is, "don't you think this is drastic?" Well, yes, yes it is drastic. I have tried for ten years to get back to a healthy weight and I keep gaining. I can no longer be trusted with a stomach. Here's to the next six to eight months. I am going to keep a positive attitude and know that the best is yet to come.

I was taken off metformin by my primary prior to surgery because he assumed I wouldn't need it because I was going "lose weight". I have most of the signs of pcos and he thought I had it but was never told definatively that I did have it. I have facial hair, but I'm blond so I'm lucky and shave. Have/had type II diabetes Have so many skin tags that I can't count and want to wear turtlenecks all the time! My periods are six weeks apart give or take a day or a week or whatever but I'm almost 48 and don't plan on having anymore children anyway Can't go on the pill because I get/had blood clots in my legs Really bad dandruff Had a few uterine cysts but got an oblation Forgot on meds for anxiety and depression clonapen and cymbalta Naturally I have a weight problem and have put 20 pounds plus since surgery Anyone with advice. I was put on synthroid for an inactive thyroid that was just discovered prior to surgery but still gained back all my weight and feel like a loooooser!!! but not the right kind of loser!!!! Never lost weight after being banded 7 months ago, lost it during the medifast phase. I see my surgeon on the 22nd of this month so I don't know what he's going to do with me:confused: Thanks, brandyII

I went to my doctor this saturday for my meds refills and she is the one that told me about lap band surgery, and recommended that I use Alli weight loss system until I see the doctor she told me about. Now, my problem comes with the person I live with<boyfriend>. Whenever I try to lose weight he starts bringing home the stuff that I am weak for, strawberry ice cream and potato chips. then he will make comments about my weight...why does he try to sabotage me like this...

Told my daughter today about surgery next month. She is very unhappy, concerned, probably scared. She is the only family member that is against it. She does not live near me and so we are doing this over the phone. She adamantly believes that I can try one more time and that if I put the same work into one more try at weight loss that I am willing to put into the follow up after the surgery that I will succeed. It is hard to argue with that logic. I feel ready for this and I know she just found out and needs time to process it, but I really do not know how respond to her. I promised her I would consider her point of view. What do you all think...

Xann, First, I want to congratulate you on the 13.2 lb loss. That's absolutely great! You may not see it as great, but it is. Think about it. In 2 months (average 8 weeks, which included post op healing) you've lost 1.6 lbs a week. That's NORMAL! That's wonderful! :cheer2: Second, YOU SAID YOU WERE PMSing. What the heck are you doing on the scales? :brick:If you know you retain Water, and you are susceptible to some depression during this time you may be setting yourself up for disappointment. My scale always shows at least a pound or 2 gain right before that time of the month. I blow it off as my female burden to bear. I might not even weigh myself and wait until "Aunt Flo" is gone because then my body has wrung itself of those excess fluids. I might actually see some positive results. :clap2: Wallow in your time of the month as you need to. Try not to go on too many binges. When it's all over, get yourself up and get movin'. I guarantee you'll feel better and you'll see the light. Doctors recommend excercise during "that time of the month" to decrease cramping. Maybe you could go with that and those endorphins from the exercise could pull you up out of the depression at the same time. You never know?

I am so happy to FINALLY be in ONEderland! It seems it has been so very long but tomorrow will be 7 months. I have went from 280 to 193 for a total of 87 lbs. I feel like a new person. I can't even imagine at this point how I will feel at goal. I have approx. 40 lbs. to go which doesn't seem like much in comparison to what I have already accomplished but I am guessing things will be going a little slower from here on out. I'm glad it summer and the weather is nice because being outdoors and exercising will definitely accelerate the weight loss. I hope to be at goal by my one year anniversary (11/01/08). The prospect is utterly thrilling. starryeyed

3 Months Post Op With Pictures
gamergirl replied to sophiepants's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
wow!! What a difference E! And in not that much time at all! You look great. And I LOVE the short hair. Very sassy -
Check the requirements for Cigna. I have Aetna and in the bulletin it says that you can not have a net gain during the supervised weight loss program. I gained during the 90 days and sure enough I was denied. I was later approved but that's a long story . But it really depends on the requirements of you insurance company. If it doesn't say anything about having a net gain then I think you should be fine.

I turned 50 last September. It was like someone flipped a switch! I have aches and pains in places I didn't know I had! Foot, hip, back-- you name it. I work at a desk and if I sit for any length of time I hobble for awhile when I get up and start moving around. I exercise regularly (Nodric-Trak X-country ski machine) and I do some stretching exercises for my achilles. Before the band I would just load up on ibuprofen or Celebrex or Aleve or some other NSAID but I am very careful about taking anything now. Anyone else deal with these issues? How? It's getting depressing because I seem to come up with something new about every month! I'm hoping weight loss will help....

Did your grow back when you were banded?
Sunwyse replied to cobrien78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Stress would have added to the problem I think. I wonder though, if the reason it happens is our system is used to a certain mix of hormones and when that mix starts to change because of weightloss, our body sort of goes into shock and the hair growth stops? As soon as it recovers it gets back to something resembling normal. Just a thought... -
I have PCOS and my hair is thinning. I'm hoping to get the lapband and was wondering if any of you who have PCOS with thinning hair can tell if your hair grew back or got worse?
