    Embarrassing NSV

That was too Funny Kat - such a a great NSV...
  2. I am SO PROUD OF YOU, Hamu, for recognizing the problem and getting it under control when you'd only gained 17 lbs. That's an incredible testiment to the band. The last time I lost weight without the band, I lost 91 lbs and then gained 100 back in 6 months. I'm so happy for you that you were able to stop the cycle before you even really changed a size in clothes. You're going to knock 'em dead and be at goal before you know it. Honestly, I think this is kind of a NSV in itself. "Normal" people gain 10 or 15 lbs, realize it, lose it, all the time. Get it under control now and you know what to do. Way to go. I think your post is fabulous!

    My Sleeves are Too Long!

Sounds like a great NSV !
  4. Today was able to wear the most adorable corduroy leggings that I haven't been able to wear for over a year!!! & I was able to walk around freely without being afraid of starting a fire between my thighs!!! ( corduroy friction on a big gal can be disastrous for those of u that don't know)
  5. Am I the only one who loves purging my closet? I filled 3 large garbage bags today with all my size 14 & 16 pants, all my XL tops and a good portion of my size L tops, several dresses and a bunch of shoes that are now too big. All donated to a women’s shelter. Started a new bag for my 12’s and the rest of my L tops as I move out of those in to 10’s and M’s. Feels so good!

    NSV - Very happy

:banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana I was at the outlet mall and decided to go and buy a new bra. This might be more info then you really want to know, but I went from a size 46 bra to a 38. I can't even remember when I wore a 38. At least 20 years ago. Just wanted to share my NSV.

    NSV - Very happy

I know this is a dumb question but what does NSV stand for?

    NSV - Very happy

nsv- Non Scale Victory, like your rings fit, clothes are a lot looser, can fit in airplane seat comfortably, can now tie your shoes without passing out, etc.
  12. Hi all, I just had to share a HUGE NSV (non-scale victory) with my friends here! It took me 8 hours (non-stop) to clean out my closet and get rid of clothes that no longer fit. I am happy to report that there is no articles of clothing in my closet that are 1,2 or 3X. I am also happy to report that there are no pants with a "W" on the end (18W, 20W, etc). The ONLY sizes I have in my closet are 14 & 16 pants, and L & XL shirts. I have previously cleared out sizes 20, & 18, but this one is the best so far (of course). I know there will be at least 3 more "closet cleanings" for me, but I feel so great right now, I just wanted to share. Thanks for listening!

    Nsv

I'm sitting here typing and it has dawned on me that my wedding ring is about ready to fly off my hand. Never before has it felt so loose. I have a scale victory to report as well. I went to the doctor yesterday and I was down another 5 lbs for a total of 37 lbs so far. I'm happy today.
  14. I'm walking 4 to 5 miles but was able to get in a .25 mile jog with my son running beside me. He's an athlete in great shape it felt so great to run with him. My goal is a mile just one step at a time. Sleeved 2/29 starting weight 242 current weight 215

    My 1St Nsv Posting : )

no weight posting on my DL...thanks goodness. LOL But my latest NSV was yesterday. It was a birthday celebration in the conference room at work. They had one of those HUGE Cookies. I took a piece about as big as the size of 1/2 a teabag. One of my newer employes said.. are you dieting? I said actually I am just maintaing my weight. One of the long term employees piped in and said she'd lost over 200 lbs... the new girl said...wow... I wouldnt think you'd ever been anything but small. I was stunned. SMALL? And you are talking about me? What's in that cookie? Of course I didnt say anything but thank you... but then my long term employee whipped out her phone which had a pic of me at the CHristmas party several years ago and proceeded to show it to the new girl. LOL It was a pretty nice feeling!
  16. TWO NSV's accomplished at the same time. 1. I got a bra from Victoria's Secret and it FITS! (BTW, the stores only go to a 38DD, but the online catalog goes to a 40DD. I got one from a store!) 2. My BFF and I are sharing clothes again! I raided her closet while here on vacation with the promise to return it when it's too big! We haven't been able to share clothes in 10 years! Good luck, everyone!
  17. Omg!! Not only do you look like a princess, you are also SMOKING HOT!! I know exactly what you are talking about with your behaviors at dances. Your story gives me happiness for you and hope for me. I am 25 days postop and have been on a 2 1/2 wk stall. I have been reading the NSVs for hope and your story has done it! Thank you so much for posting it! You inspire me! Keep rocking it!!!
  18. Today is my one year surgiversary. I have lost 115 pounds and no longer on cpap, bp meds, and my A1c is normal. I would have never realized that have normal body fat at 22%. I went from a 48 waist down to a 34. This journey has been awesome. Yes, I had some "panic" moments where my weight went up a few pounds but was able to continue the weight loss and made my goal weight in about 6 months. Being on Maintenance is a bit harder that when in the loosing phase. My goal weight was 195 and this week I am holding at 182 - 184. I am looking forward to many more NSV's.
  19. Today was the first day I really exercised since surgery and I was to do 30 min on the eliptical. It was just slow and steady but a start none the less.

    October 16 check in

My weight loss has really slowed too. I only lost 1/2 pound this week. I am really bothered by it but I think its just my body having to stop and think about it. I get between 500 and 600 calories a day so I know it not that I am eating too much or the wrong things or anything like that. I am exercising some and walking now. I think it just takes time for your body to adjust. I am hoping for a big loss this next week. I have had a lot of compliments and people noticing in the last few days though so that was a great NSV! I am doing my measurements again this week to see if there is any difference there. Good luck to everyone else... At least we are not alone in this slow down. Seems like we are all having some slow weeks not that we are a couple months out.

    Almost 70

I am so sorry to hear that you are having such a horrible stall. But I congratulate you on your positive outlook. It is so true that if weight loss is this hard WITH the sleeve I can't imagine what it would be like without it! No wonder I was never successful before. I can't imagine what you're going through. I was about to pull my hair out after a 3 week stall. They are so frustrating. To break mine I changed up what I was doing. I stuck to my Proteins and Water and changed the type of exercise I was doing. The weekend before my stall broke (I weigh in on mondays) I visited some friends and I had a "carb" day... meaning that I focused on proteins but I didn't worry about the ice cream scoop I had or the cookie I had. I needed the break mentally. My sleeve let me be normal without worrying about going crazy. The next day I was down 4. I definitely don't go carb crazy to lose the weight, it normally wouldn't work. It could've just been the mental sigh of relief over the weekend that caused it, I really don't know. No matter what, stalls are tough. Focus on all of those wonderful NSV's and your muscle tone and your body and relax knowing that your sleeve will take care of you. Also, your scale stinks lol! Leave it alone for awhile. ((hugs)) good luck!

What goes on at your Support Group Meetings?

At my meetings I start my logging on to LBT, then I go to the New Posts list, and start reading...hehe, not what you wanted, right? Gaining control of the meeting...take a list of requests for topics, come to a consensus about the topic for the next meeting. Make sure there is "open question" time at the end of each meeting. If someone tries to go off topic, write it down for the list of "open" items at the end. If everyone wants to drop the meeting topic and move on, do it. Let the participants have the control, you just direct the time, provide the structure, be the "orchestra" conductor. Have a pre-made list of on-topic questions to ask to get people talking? Or, okay, I'm brewing now. Say the meeting is an hour and a half. Fifteen min for greetings, intro of topic, reminders, etc, then a half hour for topic, half hour for off-topic, and the last 15 min for NSV's, funny personal stories related to being banded, etc. Know what I mean? Is that what you had in mind? Hope that helps.
  23. My husband, 16 yr old daughter and my mom flew from Tucson to California to go to Disneyland over my daughters spring break, we just got home yesterday. This morning I get up and get on the scale to find I am down 2lbs and loving life. When we booked this vacation I was only two months post op and wondering how I would handle the challenges I might face being away from my routine and home. Well at 5 months and two weeks out I was fine, absolutely fine. A few NSV's I celebrated along the way, (1.) I fit in the airplane seat NO extender needed, no oozing onto the person next to me (2.) was able to use my own tray table, laid down flat and didn't rest on my belly at all (3.) walked and walked and walked for four days straight, clocking an average of 20,000 to 22,000 steps daily, with no foot pain (4.) fit on every ride I went on (5.) wore a matching shirt with my daughter one day (will post a pic) and the family another day, was never able to do this because of my size (5.) wore a sleeveless top one day and shorts another day and was comfortable in both I planned ahead and brought my unflavored Protein for my morning decaf tea and my Quest bars for one meal during the day to make sure to get in my protein everyday. I was able to find options for meals without any trouble. Had a few bites of treats here and there. I made sure to get enough liquids in also, it was in the 90's a few days we were there. Overall we had a blast and I was okay, realize this is my new normal and I like it. I was so happy also that when I got up this morning after being gone for 6 days I had lost 2 pounds. Woo Hoo! I think all the walking helped a lot. So just remember this new way of life is doable, I didn't feel restricted at all. With planning ahead and being prepared I successfully had a wonderful vacation!!! I have to apologize in advance for my pics being on their sides, they look the right way on my computer but then when I attach them to my post they always go sideways??
  24. It is great to have these NSV but please be safe, lol...,happy New Year!
