Nsv - My Surgeon Asked Me To Be In An Ad!
SKCUNNINGHAM replied to SKCUNNINGHAM's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well, the ad is up on my Doctor's website. Here is the link: http://www.nicholson...nials/#!zoom/4/ Please don't take this that I am trying to convince anyone on this site to use Dr. Nick. He is a wonderful surgeon and I am very happy with him. Picking your surgeon is personal choice - I don't think you could go wrong with Dr. Nick - but there are a lot of good surgeons out there. I am putting this link up here to share my story with you guys here on the site. You are the people that helped me through the pre-surgery and post-surgery process and I wanted to share this NSV with you. I have also attached a couple of pictures that the photographer took. This is going to be short and sweet. Everyone keeps on saying how they have NSV (non scale victories) and can feel their clothes getting looser or falling off completely and while those are fabulous victories, I'm a numbers girl. So here I am baring it all - the weight was pretty hard to disclose to begin with but now I'm going to share my measurements. My hopes are to be able to document how steadily I lose these inches (hopefully many and quickly). I did take "before" pictures last night but have not had an opportunity to upload them yet, those will come later. So on to the public mortification All in Inches Left Side Right Side Bicep 18.5 17.5 Fore Arm 13.5 12.75 Thigh 35.5 34 Calf 22.5 21.5 All around Hips 60 Waist 47.5 Chest 44.5 Boobs 49.5 Neck 14 Sizes 22 pants (snug but 24 are very loose) 18/20 top & XXL 40/42 DDD This is where I start, I'm not proud of it but I look forward to seeing the numbers come down.

I just tried too. I now have a new NSV for my list!

My favorite part of the day is getting a few minutes to read these NSV's! I don't know why, but they are so much more uplifting than just saying how much you lost. I am so happy for you, is it easy to cross your legs now??

I have been so busy the past few weeks, that I have not had an opportunity to even check out the boards. However, I had to share a little nsv today. I have been working with a personal trainer three times a week and boy am I out of shape!! Even during a simple hamstring stretch, I could not grab my ankle and pull it up. I was grabbing my shoestrings, my sock, my shoe,...whatever I could manage. Talk about embarrassing! Today, I finally could grab my ankle up!! Silly, I know, but I was determined to get that foot!! One thing I have noticed is that for the past few weeks with ending school, vacation, etc., the pounds have not been coming off. Inches..yes, but the scale is barely moving It would be nice to see those numbers move a little more. I am trying to concentrate on being down clothing sizes since my scale seems to be stuck. On the bright side, it was so pleasant to sit on the airplane without worrying this time. Also, all of the rides were much more comfortable at the theme parks. I even had to pull the seatbelt tighter! WooHoo!!

Okay so I had the lap-band on the 5/23/12, so a little over two week. I had severly bad athma I was on advair 500/50 plus another steroid inhaler plus nasonex plus rescue inhaler plus my nebulizer. I also had really bad sleep apnia. since surgery I have not used any of my athma medication. I've gone from 217 to 197 in two weeks. When I first started using the eliptical I could only use it for 5 mins and the other day I was on for a whole hour. I love this tool and it has not been easy but am following doctors orders. I still have along way to go but for the first time their light at the other end of the tunnel. I no longer live on my nebulizer and am so excited for this journey.

Awesome!! Congrats!! To me Clothes are the best NSVs - they give you instant pleasure when you realize the surgery has made all the difference in your life!! Would you believe me if I say I've NEVER worn a jeans and T in my life? I live in India and I always wear our 'traditional' clothes (Salwar Kameez - if you would like to google it ) I've dreaded wearing jeans coz my thighs are huge and I always felt like jeans would look too odd on me. I cant wait to lose inches in my thighs and wear my first pair of jeans & T !!! LOL -
Now that's an NSV! CONGRATS!

I Reached My Next Goal!
kimmy*custis replied to kimmy*custis's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was just told nsv means non-scale victory...I thought it meant new sleeve victory...sorry about that! Either way, it is a victory for me! I changed the post a bit! -
Hi amica! Welcome back! What a great NSV!! I must confess, Friends...I need some encouragement today. I'm stuck again. I hit the 60 pound mark and my body just won't move any further. I keep going back and forth with the same 2-5 pounds. I walk at least a mile every day. At least 3 days/wk, I'm working with the weight machines at the gym. I'm not going over 1000 calories. I get in all my protein. I don't eat bread. I get all my water in. I'm just...ugh. I'm going to call the dietician shortly and see if she can help get me motivated again. I think my band has relaxed some because I'm back to at least a cup of food again. I just had a fill 2 weeks ago! My restriction was good for about 10 days. I'm trying to eat the leanest cuts of protein like chicken, fish and turkey. I've cut way back on the red meat. I'm taking my multi-vitamin (though I was without it for a few days). Could stress be affecting me, even though I'm not stress eating?

WTG! I think the NSV are more important than the scale! Congrats

I have had so many NSVs in the last 3 months, but my favorite so far happened last weekend. I was working around the house and I noticed my shadow on the driveway and it had a visible waist! It has been years since my shadow was anything but a big blob with a head and legs. I was so excited. Other NSVs I have had include: Went down from 4X sweats to a 1X I can wear heels all day at work and my feet don't hurt at the end of the day I went shopping at the mall with my daughter for 3 hours and was not exhausted when we were done I no longer crave sugary rich desserts or high fat foods. Instead I crave cucumbers or turkey burgers. I can now see the cleft in my chin, and I only have 1 chin to look at:) I am no longer morbidly obese The seat belt in my van will fit around me and still have extra length to spare.
