    Lets talk about sex baby...

I was active about 2 weeks out but I didn't do missionary because my lover boy is on the heavier side and didn't want to add any pressure on my tummy
  2. Hello, all! I am getting ready to schedule my surgery for sometime in October. I started my "journey" (actually feels a lot like the road to Hell!) in May, 2005. It took a long time for my insurance company to finally deny me for surgery. I will be going to the Mid-West Institute of Bariatric Surgery (Lenexa, Ks.) next week to make my appt. with Dr. Jessie Lopez. Does anyone have any experience with this Doctor or his office? So far, I have had a lot of trouble getting them to return my phone calls when I was trying to make the appt. I will be paying for the surgery on my own---it seems like a LOT of money! BTW-I am 215lbs., 5'4', hoping to get to 130.
  3. Just saying thanks to the replies i got when i was stressed about my band, i wrote last month. I did go and see my surgeon, he had no explanation for my lack of restriction. So i got a fill. At the moment i have a 4ml band in place. And when i had my fill, he said once withdrawn and put back in that i had approx 3.4mls in band. i went back in a week as the restriction was the same even after .2mls had been put in, to make the 3.4. i had another fill and to his calculations i now have 3.8 mls in a 4 ml band. I was nervous to take a drink, as i new this was pretty full up. Water went down ok, i had half a cup of mince for tea, that went down ok, i was very careful though. i have lost a furthur 2 kilos in this last 2 weeks, but i train at the gym 5 times a week, i do work and have a family. The restriction is still there but i can eat a toasted sandwich if im careful, and last night i had half a chicken breast fillet and crab meat for dinner, took a while but got through most of it. Im still concerned, i have an appointment on the 19th of march with my surgeon, i will get him to check how much is in the band. Any comments are welcome. I was banned 14th Feb 05 (weight)116kg Today i weigh 88.6kg and have lost 89cm's in total all over. Im not sure how to put up photos on this thing otherwise i would. I live in Australia in the Hunter Valley.

    Hernia?

I am almost one month post op from gastric bypass and been adjusting nicely. However, the last couple days I have been having an annoying pain right right beside my incision site. I'm hoping I am not developing a hernia or an infection. I've had a couple weeks pain free... is this normal? Sent from my SM-S920L using the BariatricPal App

    Normal Intake Two Weeks Out?

Seems normal. I'm also two weeks out. April 9. Today was the first day of my two weeks of puréed foods. I am not allowed yet to have solids like chicken. Unless its a chicken salad puréed. I had one egg this morning and was able to finish it no problem. This afternoon I ate a few ounces of tuna salad. Felt satisfied. I would think half a chicken breast would make u feel full. Everyone is different though. Be grateful you can eat that. Some ppl can't seem to get the chicken down. I can't wait to try!!!

    who to choose in mexico

I had my surgery with Dr. Wilhelmy at Mexicali Bariatric Center. I am very happy, it was a GREAT experience, the hospital is impeccable and the team wonderful! I have lost 40 lbs in 7 weeks so I couldn't be happier.

    Questions

Hi there. Contemplation and research are you friends! :-) I'm just over 5 weeks out - I can tell you with all honesty, I don't think about food like I did before surgery. If I crave something, it goes away very quickly - like a fleeting thought. The first few weeks, the drinking of Water, shakes and, if you're allowed, food will consume you. Because you're trying to figure out the balance - when you should have Breakfast, then incorporate a shake, and getting in the water. I have finally hit my stride and it's much easier now - it's just my new normal. Cooking for a family up until this week has been a challenge and I relied a lot on my husband to figure out what he and my son were going to do for dinner. Now that I'm on a somewhat "regular" diet, I don't have to cook two meals. Last night I made roasted chicken and vegetables. We were able to eat the same things. We've even gone out to dinner a few times and I either ate off my husband's plate or had the inside of a taco. I'm also finding some great recipes that are healthy and sleeve friendly that my family enjoys! I bet your family will adapt to the "new" you, whether you tell them about the surgery or not. You're taking your health in your own hands and that's commendable - whether they agree with the decision or not. Just don't fret too much! Happy holidays!

    Access Denied

So, my new insurance denied my surgery last minute, literally one week before my surgery. Definitely had mixed emotions about the whole thing but I'm living, moms absolutely devastated, she was planning to do it too. I decided to throw my money into some new ink, which is normal at least it's not the foody I considered. I'm not too worried though, I mean sooner or later it'll happen.

    scared to eat!

doc told the group i was in for 2 weeks nothing real cold like from freezer or anything real hot. but after 2 weeks you can have SF popsicles. a popsicle is frozen water with flavoring. it may not hurt, but becareful with them
  10. I was undecided about the band and the sleeve for awhile and decided on the sleeve. I was sleeved 3 weeks ago and my main decisions were this... a couple friends both have the band and they both throw up their food often if not daily. I really hate throwing up. And after i got to reading more i found that over time the complication from the band seem to increase and i was worried i would be the person where the band would cause a lot of problems I didn't want. Good Luck with whatever you choose

    Day 3 after surgery

I had a morphine drip (which was optional and extra believe it or not) to which I had a button to push for pain post-op. I must say that I was kinda abusing that, as the anesthesia nurses came to check the remaining volume and noticed I had been too button happy .. anyhoot, when they decided to remove my IV when I was clear to drink Water and diluted sports drink, I asked that they keep the morphine in but they refused and took it away. So, my op was at noon on Feb 8th, and I awoke around 4 or 5PM, I had the morphine until the next day around 6PM. After they un-hooked me from the drip stand, I was "weened" from pain medication. the only thing I could feel were my two holes where those rack things went in and the actual larascopic wound around my belly button. But I felt no pain internally by the second day of the op. May be there was some "memory pain" from the gas they pumped in, but for me that was very very minor. But then I'm probably one of your lighter candidates with a pre-op BMI of 36. I figure the heavier you are perhaps the more gas they would have to pump to keep the "ceiling of operation" up and the more pain you would feel post op. The biggest thing I would think for you at this time would be the liquid only diet, which will make you hungry all the time. I know I was for the first week as I average only 500 calories per day and wound up losing nearly 16 lbs in 7 days. Try to drink some un-diluted sports drink which has more calories that might give you a bit more ooomph than I had. I basically did NOT want to move around at all for the first week becuz I knew I had no "go juice" in me from what "they" were giving me (that inluded my mom's strict following of the recommended menu that had zero taste for a whole week before I got strained apple juice and strained clear chicken broth which felt like meals fit for kings at the time compared to the third world prison diet I was getting the first 7 days). Hope that helps!

    COLONICS after LAP BAND SURGERY

There is also a mucoid plaque cleanse and the so easy cleanse which are different from the colonic bed, with Water tank. I have enclosed a photo so you can see the equipment. The first 2 cleanses are things you can do at home. I've not done the home remedy, but I'm going to do it in conjunction with colonics. It's the greatest feeling and once you have them regularly, your body tells you when you need one. It is recommended to do 2 back to back and then 1 per week for the next 6 weeks then back off to 1 every 2 to 3 months. It's wonderful.
  14. Hello! My name is Tracie Steves and I am just started my attempt to take the Lap Band journey. I will attend the seminar on January 11th and turn in the paperwork at that time. I plan to contact the insurance company next week, I have just switched from Select Health to United Healthcare and all I know so far is that they cover it but I don't have the requirements for my plan yet. I found this board that night and it had a lot of helpful information so I decided to join early. It sounds like this is a roller coaster of a journey but I am excited at the prospect.
  15. I found the easiest way for me was to drink the calories... I would stick to my Protein shakes though. There are a few that are higher calories, like EAS Myloplex. Sometimes the only way to break a stall is to wait it out. I know how hard it is (I just broke a 3week stall) but sometimes you aren't doing anything wrong. Make sure you are getting in your protein, your Water and your Vitamin and try not to worry about the numbers. It can be difficult but it will break. Good luck!
  16. Previously banded readers....What would you do? What does your surgery experience tell you, to tell me? I'm so freaked out about having surgery that I'm thinking of moving the procedure up so I can get it over with before I change my mind. I was scheduled to be banded on June 21, but I'm thinking of moving it to May 31. Here's my concern.... I can have the surgery on Thursday May 31, or Friday June 1, but by Wednesday June 6 I have to be able to help my daughter through a 2 day dance competition. That means 5 days after surgery, I have to be able to be out of the house for 48 hours, survive 2 days (Wednesday and Thursday) that involve helping my daughter with changing costumes 14 times each day and walking about 1 block between the stage and dressing area in between each costume change. We have to be up early in the morning and up late at night. Then the following day (Friday - 1 week after the surgery) I am hosting the after party at my house. This will involve cleaning the entire house, making 3 deserts, and putting on a happy face from 6-11pm. Would you have been able to do that? Is it smart? I want to allow myself to take it easy for about a week, but 1. I'm totally afraid I'll freak out and change my mind if I have to wait until late June. All that time to think about it will drive me to run!!! I'm just so freaked out about surgery. 2. I want to get started loosing weight and recovering sooner rather than later. 3. No matter when I do the surgery, I have 3 kids 13, 9, 7, I home school them and teach nights. No matter what I will have to hit the ground running fairly soon after surgery. At most I will have 5 days to "rest" and then I have to do normal life again with little or no help, and go back to work at night. What is your advice?

Banded Friday July 13th!!! Maybe that's why!

Throw those superstitions out the window! And welcome to Bandster Hell! When you are first banded you have NO restriction. Although some people do feel a little bit, it is usually from the swelling due to surgery. If you are like me and recover well from surgery then you will definitely feel hungry because you are taking in very little food at this point - however....it is very important to follow your post op diet because it is allowing your stomach to heal and adhesions to form to keep your band in place and avoid slippage down the line. Drink as much Water as you can to help fill you up and add lots of Protein Powder to your mushies - that will help to keep you feeling full. I had my first fill 6 weeks after surgery and although I had some restriction, it was not enough - most people need 3-4 fills and I have had 3 so far and feel pretty good. I am losing the requisite 1-2 lbs per week. Not speedy, but safe and those pounds are gone forever. Remeber that the band is a tool (imagine a $17K tool on the shelf in home depot)! It is not a magic cure and you still have to work it. Hang in there - it WILL get better.

Surgery date has been moved up!

I was handling the waiting okay for the most part. Now feeling anxious about getting all the appts. scheduled, paperwork ready, telling my boss again that the date for everything has changed (again), and finding folks to cover my desk while I'm off. Needless to say, I have to start my 2 week pre-op liquid diet TODAY, which really isn't too much trouble since I drink Breakfast and lunch anyway. Of course, now all I can think about is FOOD!!! It doesn't help that I'm physically hungry at this point. My hubby was excited for me when I called to give him the news about the new date.
  19. I've decided to get Sleeved because at 33 years of age, my BMI is 60 and I have degenerative osteoarthritis in both knees as well as high blood pressure. My family has a long history of heart disease, strokes, heart attacks, diabetes and arthritis. My grandmother passed at age 62 in 2001 (a week before Christmas) due to obesity-related complications. I used to be a track and field athlete and a weightlifter (when I was in high school). I've looked into the gastric sleeve surgery and I know this is what I need in order to regain my health so I can live a healthier, longer life. I live in NY and have Straight Medicaid, which requires 3 months of NUT visits and from what the surgeon told me that I may get sleeved in either September or October of this year. I wasn't told how much I needed to lose, but I heard it was minimum 10% of your body weight. I've tried everything from Slim Fast to Kashi GoLean and taking diet supplements. I'm more than ready for a change in my life. I know what lies ahead for me, and I know my path to wellness won't be easy.
  20. The band won't help you feel full until you've had enough fills. If it's been more than 3 weeks since your last fill I would get another. I did not get restiction until 10.6 CC's

    I'm Banded!

Thanks Deb, Julie, and momab50 for your responses. I am so happy to be joining the "banded club" and am hoping I can do as well as the three of you have done! Your weigh losses are encouraging! I'm still nauseous today and am taking the medication for it, which helps a lot. Overall, though, I am feeling good, in fact better than I had anticipated, with only a little soreness in my stomach area and a scratchy throat. I've been drinking Isopure, which requires a lot of effort because it tastes terrible to me right now! But I will get through it because it seems to be the easiest way to get my protein in. My cat is clearly miffed at me because I won't allow him in the room with me. I decided I can't risk him leaping onto my stomach, and he just doesn't get it. Normally, he rules the place. Stay cool, Julie. I saw on the weather this morning that it's scorching in AZ.

    First Fill

had my first fill today and was able to eat lunch just fine with smaller portions. When it came to dinner it was different story. Three bites in and I was sliming. It was not fun. guess tonight is just liquids. hopefully I will be able to eat tomorrow if not I have to go back to the doctor to have half a cc taken out.
  23. Well here I am on day three post op. I said I would keep everyone posted on my progress. It hasnt been bad at all. I am sleepy a lot but that is probably the meds and no food. Yesterday I could barely get 2 bottles of water down. Today I get to start full liquids but only 2 oz, at a time. I woke up this morning and the minute I stood up I thought I was gonna throw up. I just kept swallowing and it passed. I gotthe nausea meds immediately. I have had the feeling about 4 times this morning. So that is about the worst that has happened so far. Gas hasnt been bad at all, but I have been walking a lot and my hubby has been tapping my back and that seems to help a lot. So my journey is starting out on the plus side. I will keep everyone informed on my journey. Good Luck to all future and existing bandsters.

    Exhausted!

I had surgery just 3 days after you on 8/20/10 and I have had several days in a row now where I feel the same as you. I am getting a solid 8-9 hours a night yet all I want to do is sleep.Yesterday and today I have forced myself not to take any naps, and forced myself to do housework and run some errands. It is like pushing a truck uphill to even get up the oomphf to cook my family some dinner. I am no where near the same calorie intake as you though so part of my desire for nothing but sleep might be the low calorie part. I am also at the "dreaded stall" as well. I think my body is finally catching up to what I did to it 3 weeks ago and is rebelling. It will work itself out eventually, I just want it to be sooner rather than later.

    I LOVE my food!

This is a generality, but usually people who can't lose weight are eating lots of things that are not restricted by the band. I can eat no end of chocolate, ice cream, pudding, creamy Soups, Peanut Butter, baked potatoes . . . I'm getting hungry just making the list! However, I can about 1/4 of a meat serving compared to presurgery; I can't eat bread and enjoy it, and many Snacks have to be eaten slowly or else I will get sick. The other problem area with "eating around the band" is snacking and grazing constantly. If you eat a little bit, then a little bit again, then again, and again and again . . . well, you get the picture. If you follow the rules of eating a regular solid meal three times a day, with your Protein first, then veggies, and finally starches (which I usually just leave out, except on special occasions) then you will find your food intake drastically reduced. Finally, get your fills when you need them! If you don't get your band adjusted properly, it isn't going to work like it is supposed to.
