Well, weve just returned from visiting Mike's family in NC. On Monday, we loaded the zoo up and went to the mountains to visit his only remaining grandmother. Mike's parents, his brother & SIL and all their kids were with us as well. Had a great day. And, as usual, when we go in the summer time, Mike & his brother bring the kids swimming in a creek near his grandmothers house. Ive never been. Never had the desire to go; too much walking I guess? Well, this time I went. And yes, there was alot of walking to get to the creek - but MOSTLY - we had to climb around BIG rocks to get to the desirable spot (didnt know this til I got there). And I did it! Some places we had to get down on all 4's to balance ourselves. And better yet - I did it in flip-flops! LOL I honestly have to say that this has been my biggest NSV so far. I wouldve NEVER attempted to do this at my higher weight - just b/c I had a lack of mobility and flexability and afraid that I would fall and hurt myself or another. Here are some pics to show what Im talking about... My son is on the right - behind the big rock. Dont know the other people (mike took these pics)

Hi everyone! I thought I'd start a thread for a change because after reading all your awesome threads I needed to jump in!!! Hope you don't mind! Revelations.....about myself....since my lap band surgery. Call it an NSV, a perk, a mini victory....call it what you like....but I think that everything I'm experiencing is AWESOME!!! I'm learning so much about the old me that I've never realized or thought about before. And I know you'll agree! One particular revelation for me is that I no longer have an over-abundance of napkins in my car!!! I know you can ALL relate to this...c'mon....fess up! But, the truth is, I went through the car wash last week and wanted to wipe my mirrors afterwards. I have always had napkins coming out from every nook and cranny in the car. But as I searched frantically.....there was not ONE single solitary napkin to be found.....!!! The REVELATION??? Well, I realized then how often I had gone to drive-thru windows to or from my destination...and now that I don't, I have no napkins!!! Hey, I can live with that! The benefits are far greater!! Tell me yours.....and I know we've all had them....be they big or small....tell us what you have experienced....What did it REVEAL to yourself about YOU??? Nancy*

I am having so many NSVs, it is really exciting. It seems my body is changing so much so fast. I've lost some weight to be sure, but I think a lot of it is the effect of exercise and I am "compacting" (I believe that was Alexandra's word). Bandster friends, I struggled for so many, many months after my initial weight loss post-surgery. I ate all of the wrong things. I didn't exercise. I didn't lose a pound for months and months. And even though I had lost a lot of weight initially, my clothing size hadn't changed at all. So I hope you don't feel I am bragging or tooting my own horn now, but I just feel the need to express my excitement to someone and I figure you all can understand better than my thin friends would. I love that the band was patient and waited for me to get my act together while at the same time not allowing me to re-gain all my lost weight. The recent NSVs are too numerous to mention, but here are a few: I finally caved in and bought new clothes about a month or so ago because my clothes were finally getting too big. Now my new clothes are too big. At work there are about 2 people a day - usually people I don't really know - who comment on how much weight I've lost. Most miraculous of all, I've had a lot of photos taken of me recently at parties and such and I didn't hate most of them! I'm just so excited and thrilled! Nancy

so, a huge NSV for me this weekend, I went shopping at the mall for the first time since surgery for new clothes. (I've been to places like Savers and goodwill buying things here and there, but this was my first mall outing). I went into stores I've never stepped foot in... and I BOUGHT there too! WOOHOOO! I went to H&M, Aeropostale, Forever 21,just to name a few. So, since this is a whole new shopping world for me, where are some stores that you like to go in now that you're on the losers bench? My old go-to store was Dressbarn for Women, and I'm so happy to have a new variety of stores to shop at. Please share your new favorites- whether in store on online- I'm in the shopping mood!

I had to buy a new coat today! My old coat is a Women's 2X and is now completely too big for me. I tried on several different styles and ended up getting a long black wool coat in a SIZE 12!!!! I am so tickled, I love this darn band!!! It is so great to shop in regular sizes and have so many choices!!! Just wanted to share a happy moment!

I'm so excited! Today is the first day I've put my jeans on since my surgery a week and a half ago and they were much looser! I could pull them away almost 2 inches from my belly and they used to be skin tight and cut into me! I'm so exicted!!! I can't believe I'm comfy in my jeans! Also, I put on a ring I haven't wore in a while and it was loose on my hand! I can't believe 26.5 pounds would make that much of a difference!!! Especially since I'm not even two weeks out from surgery! Has anyone else had any NSVs yet?!

Just bought my 1st pair of jeans in a regular clothing store. Feels so good to have a pair of jeans that makes my ass look good Also not paying 90$ for fat girl jeans is great. doesn't feel like a potato bag with legs :-) I tried a few pairs that fitted, Almost cried in the changing room. Just this feels good.

My sister lives in another town and has a schedule which is opposite from mine, so we don't get to see each other that often. I last saw her about three or four months ago. Today we decided to meet in a town half-way between hers and mine for lunch. I was waiting outside my car at the appointed meeting place. My sister said she almost didn't say anything to me. She thought it was me at first, but then decided it couldn't be because I was too thin! Nancy

So I just decided to walk 2 miles. I'm in Florida and the weather is beautiful! As I'm walking my pants are falling down. So I reached for the drawstring in the front and WTHeck? no drawstring. So I felt around the back and realized I had my pants on backwards. No wonder the landscaping guys were looking at me funny huh. Well I see it as a NSV. What do you think?

So my pre-op and transition post-op clothes are finally all given away except for maybe a couple of pairs of jeans that are a little too big. Most of the too big shoes have left the building. I have new, smaller bracelets and I'm getting my favorite rings resized. But I finally realized yesterday what is wrong with my necklaces: my neck is skinnier and they now hang too low! Guess I'm going to have to buy a couple of shorter chains for my pendants too! Oh, my, the struggles of weight loss :-) Lynda

i think that is my fave NSV so far. its so nice to go to a restaurant and not have to say "3 please, table not a booth" ... i, too, actually requests a booth now. yay ... i love my band!!

Aweeee thank you Dub! Yeah I'm still in cloud 9 regarding all the NSV'S in the last few days I have just very recently started to lose my hair too but I don't think it'll be bad. In all honesty I am not too worried about it. There are far more things to be (more) worried about and with the crap I went thru last year - this is nothin' babeeee If losing my hair means I'm losing weight, getting healthier and becoming the person I feel like on the inside, so be it. It's short term and it'll grow back - losing weight far "outweighs" losing hair, IMHO. no worries my friend! You got this! Don't sweat the small stuff! Keep doing awesome Heather -
OK, I think that this is a good time to look at the results. The votes cast are as follows: 48 Clothes fit better 46 You are or feel healthier 42 You feel more confident in yourself 19 Your sex life is better 15 Family have complimented you 12 It's easier to play with the children 10 You find it easier to do jobs around the house 09 Work colleagues have complimented you 05 You enjoy playing sports now 04 You don't have to wear a CPAP mask now So, on this very unscientific poll, the top three most important NSVs are clear. Personally, I'm surprised about the top choice, that clothes fit better, beating (not by much) you are or feel healthier. Any comments?
