Oh my god does it feel good to be back in jeans! Haven't worn these in 4 years! I think they're an 18 or a 20- didn't care to look, just found them and remembered them to be comfy! I haven't been able to find jeans that fit - always too big somewhere or too low hanging of a crotch or something - back to men's jeans I guess! Always found them more comfy! Subtle, but telling, NSV

Yes Alex, you got it right. That's a great NSV Alex, sorry you still have hpb but now you are not afraid to face it.

    Subtle, but telling, NSV

That is a wonderful NSV! the best kind are the ones where you can hold your head up high and know that your weight was NOT an issue!! Thats awesome!

    Subtle, but telling, NSV

Actually, I think this might be the best NSV I've read here on LBT. I don't think this NSV is in your mind at all. Seriously, what an accomplishment to be able to discuss your health regarding a specific issue or symptom, without the information being diluted or modified by having been filtered through that familiar pre-existiong condition, obesity. An excellent NSV and step in the right direction regarding you HBP. Congrats!

    Ready for change!

Great start mocca. That's alot of weight to drop in the beginning. I'm sure you've heard alot of it already...eat smart, eat slow, small bites, etc. Can I give you a little different advice? Because you've already lost a great deal of weight, try not to weigh yourself too often. It might feel like you are failing (which you are not) once the weight loss slows down. Find NSVs instead of checking your numbers. That's the best thing you can do because there are alot more of those even if the scale isn't moving. Good luck and keep us posted!

    Some NSVs to share :)

Yay! Keep up the NSV's so exciting
  10. OK, so I'm cooking dinner for my grandchildren and my son walks in the front door proceeds over to my granddaughter and whispers in her ear. My granddaughter age 11 comes over and whispers in my wars "Grandma, pick up your shorts they've fallen below your butt. I looked down and said oh my goodness so they have. So, these shorts used to fit nice and now they've gotten too big! I'm losing slowly and it's driving me crazy that my son does not have a bathroom scale in his house I'm assuming I've lost weight but it would be nice to know. I don't return back to my home in FL until August 1st. I'm hoping I have a loss along with this embarrassing but cute NSV!
  11. Smiling for you! Awesome NSV! Buy some new shorts on your son's dime! And the shorts didn't get big, you got smaller!!!

NSV!! I fit in the chair!

I'm wondering what NSV means too. I've seen it a lot and I know it's good but just can't quite figure out what it stands for. Thanks! Andy
  13. so today I had to go to a wedding .... needed some pantyhose...went to Lane Bryant. But was told Lane Bryant doesnt sell pantyhose any longer, just tights...control top tights... I havent worn tights in 40 years! But in a rush bought them anyway. Got home started getting dressed and this is how it goes..... The skirt I planned to wear was too big...had to change to a black dress I have, it was ok...but kinda baggy. Picked out a "sexy" kind of bra thats always been "tight"...it isnt anymore!! Put on the tights, without a problem!! My black dress shoes were too big too!! had to wear a flat pair! Dont get me wrong, I love the fact that everything is getting bigger...and I am getting slimmer. But wow! all at once?
  14. I will be 6 weeks on Thursday and I've only lost 20lbs... I started at a heavier weight (284.6 the day before I flew to Mexico) and I don't feel I've lost nearly as much as others at my size however I am happy with where I am. I think you guys are right on track and doing great!!! I had a stall at 3 weeks and when I increased my calorie intake for a day or two it broke but they happen so focus on those amazing NSVs and ignore the scale!!!
  15. It's really unbelievable, and I am still having this weird out of body experience... Last night my husband and I went to visit a friend who just had a baby. We took lots of photos of each of us holding her, and then this morning, he posted all the photos on Facebook. I have never, and I mean NEVER, in my entire life, looked at a photo of myself and thought I looked skinny. And I know in person I don't look skinny--I mean, I'm 5'2" and a size 14--But these photos! I just can't get over it!!! I look almost gaunt! Bony cheekbones, no hint of a double chin, indents in my neck, sharply edged shoulders, small arms... WHO IS THIS PERSON???? It's so weird!!!!!!!!!!!

    100LBs lost today!!!

Congratulations! I share your feeling of accomplishment. I, too, hit the 100 lb mark and reached my goal weight, too. I lost 10 whole lbs on the 6 month diet my insurance required, 25 on the pre-op liquid diet (I ended up on it for 3 weeks instead of 2 because I caught a slight cold and my surgery was bumped a week), and the rest after surgery. My favorite NSV is when buying scrub pants for work (I work in a doctor's office) I can say "I take a size small, thanks." Used to be 2X.:mad2:

    Scale Obsession

Everyone seems to be obsessed with the scale... I am trying to not base my journey on that number... There are so many NSV's that's occur that I'd miss if I focused solely on the scale. 11 1/2 weeks and down to 178.3. I have 0 complaints... I am very glad I made the decision to have this surgery... Even more glad that I am learning to use it is the tool it was meant to be. I read a lot, say a little. Lots of people compare their journey to that of someone else... Stress stalls weight loss, take the stress off yourself and just take it one day at a time. This surgery was NOT a magic solution. Fact is you can gain the weight back if you don't work the tool effectively...... I'm glad that I've learned this lesson early on. I have a clear road ahead of me. Thank you all for sharing your stories. You're a big encouragement to lil ol me.

    Better than a joke!

What a great NSV! I know the docs I saw would push the RNY more for the people with diabetes...one said it's because diabetes is so serious and the RNY cures diabetes so quickly. My doc left it up to me. Glad it's going so well for you! -BG

Pants on the ground, pants on the ground...

I'm lookin like a fool with my pants on the ground! Hey, I was so excited about new found restriction after my second fill that I forgot to post about my first big NSV. Well, I knew my jeans were getting loose, but on Sunday I realized they were getting WAY too loose as I kept having to hike them up in public (which I'm sure looks ridiculous). I gave 'em a test to see if I could pull them on and off without unbuttoning them and sure enough I could so I figured it was time to start wearing the next size smaller jeans in my closet. And, let me tell you I feel so 'skinny' in these jeans. I have been wearing them every day since Sunday and plan on wearing them again today. :crying: The funny thing is that at some point, I had considered these now smaller jeans my 'fat jeans'. I remember I had gained weight and vowed not to gain anymore (yeah right!) so I only allowed myself to buy Target jeans. I mean why would I want to spend money on jeans I would only be wearing briefly? Ugh! So, now I get to wear them again. And, I have three pairs of these Target jeans (two medium wash, one dark dark wash) so how can I justify needing a different pair in this size??? I guess I better just speed through this size because I know I have at least one cute pair in the next size down. LOL Not that these are ugly, but they just aren't cute (going out) jeans. Sometimes I think I am the weirdest fat woman because it never bothered me to buy new fat clothes. So many people say they HAVE to throw out their fat clothes so they CAN'T gain weight again. But, for me, I love buying clothes so every time I have lost OR gained, I've bought more and more and more clothes. I am really trying hard not to purchase too many new things this time as I lose through the sizes again, though. I've got so many clothes (only 1-2 years old) in every size. I did splurge and buy two new tops from Lane Bryant online, though. They had some really pretty (dressy) tops from the Icon collection (normally $98) on clearance for $12. I ordered them on the small side so hopefully one of them will fit for my friend's wedding on 4/2. Normally I would not wear pants to a wedding, but I feel like such a cow in a dress right now. And, this is a second wedding and my friend is young and very casual. So, I'm thinking black dress pants (which I just happen to have in a smaller size right now) and one of these dressy tops might make for a pretty outfit without dropping a lot of $$$. OK, I am getting off on a tanget now, but gotta mention one other great NSV I had on Monday. My inlaws were on their way over so I was doing my normal run-around-and-try-to-straighten-the-house-as-quickly-as-possible routine. I've got a 4 and a 6 year old so this usually involves a lot of huffing and puffing and straining to pick all their stuff up off the floor. But, you know what I noticed???? Picking stuff up off the floor is getting a lot easier. I don't feel like my head is gonna pop off anymore when I'm doing this. And, I swept all my floors in just 15 minutes and usually that takes me a lot longer. Woohoo!!! This is the everyday stuff that really matters when it comes to feeling good.
  22. I went to my primary care doctor this morning and I am finally under 200 lbs. I honestly can't remember the last time I weighed less than 200. I have been hovering for a couple months but I think I'm finally in the "green zone" so the scale started moving! I'm so excited. Also, my fasting blood sugar was 102 and my blood pressure is in the normal range. Yeah!!!
  23. Today my niece told me I couldn't wear the jeans I was wearing anymore, because they were falling off. I put a tighter pair on, and while I was walking with my hands full my pants fell down, literally last my bum. Good nsv.
