10 1/2 month post op! All my nsvs
jen1211 replied to SpaceyCasey's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congratulations! I love hearing about NSV's, they are so different for everyone and they are truly the reasons we made this change! Numbers only mean so much, it's important how wefeel! -
How Do You Set Your Goals?
ShrinkingButtercup replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My surgeon didn't even want to hear my weight goal. He asked me what my other goals were. Being confident and active was what I told him. I want the NSVs more than a number. Walking and biking with my boyfriend. Hitting up the theme parks. Feeling better about myself. Spending time with friends I'm too ashamed to see. I even have a goal to be at a friend's anniversary party when I should be 8 months out. I would never go otherwise. Numbers? 200 lbs. No date. Just gotta go. That came from the bariatric nurse/patient liaison being frank with me ("Honey, you got 200 pounds to lose."). So it became my goal. If I get under that? Yay me. (I have a secret goal. Shhhhh. 150. Upper limit of my normal BMI. But that seems a million years away.) -
It's so normal and it will happen on and off Try to measure and use the fit of your clothes for NSV's Don't let the scale rule you You will lose weight Eat healthy and get moving Enjoy the ride... No worries!!!

Do they have a pool? I highly recommend swimming. Started out at 364 pounds in my fat lady swim suit. Afterall once you're in the pool no one can see you. Moving to a suit that did not have a skirt was a major NSV.

Finally got my wife on here to look at this site. She scrolled around reading any post by me. I think she was looking to see if I said anything bad about her, lol. What she did finally say was: "I'm kinda jealous. You're on here talking to all these hot babes all the time." So, you guys are all hot babes. I knew it all along, but I wasn't about to tell Patty that. She had to figure it out for herself. Of course I had a good response. I said, "I talk to those hot babes, but I married the hottest babe of all". Whew. No couch.

I know this is a silly question but I am new to all of this... What does "NSV" stand for?

So great news and a problem... I've lost about 20 lbs so far and my engagement ring is getting really lose. I have about 50 more to go to get to my goal weight. Other than getting it resized often, what do you do to tighten your rings? When I was little I tied yarn around a few times but that gets a bit nasty when washing hands. I remember some metal thingy to clamp on there but I can't find it on amazon or eBay. Suggestions?

Congrats Deb,that is the BEST nsv!!! If you don't have issue with gently used clothes... I go to a shop called Value Village here in Ottawa.I can get designer clothes for more than half price!! I love people telling me "Really Chantal, you really NEED to get some clothes that fit!"and it's because my clothes are too baggy!! I can pull down all my pants from before my weight loss without unzipping them..I LOVE IT!!! C

Congrats! thats wonderful! I have had a few NSVs. My bras are too big, I need a belt to keep all my Ashley Stewart jeans up. I have more room while I drive between me and the steering wheel. Im excited to see what size I wear (was wearing a 24) and to see how much more weight I have lost since surgery Im so happy for everyone.

My husband and I were play fighting today, which we often do, and out of no where he pulls a move never used on me before... He grabs my collar bone! I didn't know I had them... He told me they've been poking out a few weeks now. Went to the bathroom mirror to check... I'll be damned.. there they were. NSV number 1227... Lol...(or so it feels lol)

I'm 2 and a half weeks post op. About 5 months ago, at 335 lbs I realized that my scrubs were busting at the seams and bought new ones; 5x top, 3x pants. Yesterday I realized I was swimming in my scrubs. Today I broke out the ones that were busting at the seams... and at 276.6, my 3x top and XL pants fit perfectly .. I'm going to take them in at least once before I go shopping for new scrubs. Because never in the last 5 years have I been more than 30 lbs smaller than I am now.. so I don't own any smaller scrubs.

What nsv are you looking forward to?
lisabug posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Besides the normal ones, shopping in the regular clothes, no more meds for health issues... 1) buying a bra at Victoria Secrets and pushing the girls back up where they belong. 2) coughing and not having to cross my legs. The mommy cough as my friends call it. 3) not having to worry about camel toe when I wear pants. What are you looking forward to? -
Awesome! it is the NSV's that keep me going even more than the scales sometimes.
-
That is so awesome. I am looking forward to that NSV myself. I can report that my wedding ring is sliding on and off again with relative ease. It was just swollen around my finger. Not bad for being banded less than a month. You Go Girl!!! Keep it up. I hope to follow you soon.

Hey y'all! So I am super proud of myself! I went from wearing a size 44 in MEN pants to a 30! I'm so happy with my journey and it is going to keep getting better! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How do the All Stars want to proceed from here?

We could start a weekly weigh in plus any updates...sv, nsv, rants, raves, etc? Are Saturdays a good day? -
LOL, it's great to have friends you can smack around!!! Wonderful nsv, Zoe. You look great!

Today I visited a friend who's a surgeon, and not exactly overendowed with tact. When she saw me, the first words out of her mouth were "You look like a normal person!" After I slapped her upside the head she at least had the good grace to laugh at herself. Hey, it's not the most lavish compliment I've ever received, but she was sincere. And while I still have a lot of weight to lose, I am starting to feel (and maybe even look) like what passes for normal. In a good way.

Not exactly an NSV, but still pretty cool
Rebeccalee replied to whippledaddy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'd say that's a NSV, Ryan. Any step forward or awareness of what we've accomplished is a real victory. Good for you! -
