One year ago today, I was given one year to live if I didn't get a lot of my extra weight off me in a hurry. It's only 6:40pm, but I'm hoping I'll live until Midnight. Just thought I'd share that huge milestone with my family here. I'll Celebrate with an extra long workout tomorrow morning! And a cup of decaf coffee!!

Ok - so I HAVE to share this, and I will try to make it brief. I have a friend who is much younger than myself, and has fallen into a terrible relationship with a very controlling much older woman (older than myself by 5 years). So younger friend is staying at my house to get her head together and think stuff over, and older ex friend thought I would be at work, so she was going to show up and quite literally take her at my doorstep (younger friend is smoker and not allowed to smoke in yard, take it to the curb, tyvm). But I had to go home today to undo the hoses on my old washing machine (ugh a whole other story). I was parked away from my driveway for access to take away said old washer...and I hear raised voices and all this - it is coming from my driveway!!!! I run out and ex is trying to pull friend away - then she sees me. She hasnt seen me since before the surgery. I hear her go - "What the h***!" Just before she literally tried to run away - she didn't get far...let's leave it at that... -
That's awesome! It is nice to know you can get whatever car you want w/o having to think about the size. II drove my husbands truck the other day & he said do you realize you didn't have to adjust the steering wheel? I used to move it up high like a bus to fit in and it still was tight. Now I sit fine with plenty of room. Was a nice NSV!!!

Awesome !!!! I'm looking forward to that myself. I was new car shopping earlier this year and of course was focused on the larger cars where I knew I would fit but then it hit me -- I didn't have to do that, I could wait until later this year, will be a much healthier size and don't have to worry about fitting in a car. Hooray for your NSV - I'm very happy for you!!
-
I guess that was a NSV for me - sorta - I got the Scion Xb limited edition "Hot Lava" for Christmas from my hubby. I think it was his way of trying to spoil me before surgery, he was soooo scared. It doesnt sound like much - but if there are any Sci-cotics out there, you get it
-
Awesome! I love these NSV's! They are what make us truly happy....

I love NSV's, especially ones where you kknow you're going to be more comfortable daily, like being able to sit in the seats of any car! WOO HOO!!

Before And After Pics - 90 Lbs Down

Somehow my post went somewhere else so I will say it again here... Pookey, you look great! Your glasses are now too big for your face. You need to get smaller frames girl! What an NSV! Woohooo! -
Hey Guys, I went car shopping last night w/ my BFF and her hubby... They're looking for a midsize sedan or small SUV.. anyway, we test drove the new Honda Accord, Chrysler 200 and some Lexus car... so, I was like.. oh Lord.. I don't think I can get in the backseat of this car... Not only did I fit in the backseat, so did my neice, nephew and salesperson!!! LOL... Then I was concerned about the seatbelt... NO ISSUES in either vehicle... the next test was whether or not I needed to move the front seat back so I could have space to get in and out of the front seat... HEHEHEHEHE.... I didn't!!!!! I'm so tickled, that finally, I don't have to drive an SUV or big, cute car... I can just buy a CUTE car, regardless of the size!!! Another reason I'm grateful for Sleevina!!!

I am far from an expert but two things that pop to mind are 1) increasing your Protein and 2) maybe increasing your calories to 800-1000. As for being a slow loser? So am I. I was just thinking about this yesterday in fact. I am 14 weeks post op and have lost 33 pounds (55 including pre-op). What I have realised though is that I am pretty damn happy with my progress. It is 'slow' for the world of gastric sleeves but I have NEVER lost weight this consistently before and I am reaping the benefits. I'm getting a lot of positive comments, my health and fitness are improving, I'm clocking up NSVs very quickly and I'm on the cusp of being overweight rather than obese (I'm 5'3"). I've even realised that the mirrors I thought were 'skinny' in the change rooms I've been in recently are plum normal, its ME that is much smaller than I realised!! Honestly, as much as I'd like to be at goal yesterday, I'm not sure my head would keep up if I were to lose any faster. My skin was already too stretched to escape weight loss unscathed, but no doubt would be even worse if I'd lost at double or triple my rate. I find that our heads get so consumed with losing weight and how quickly others lose that it is easy to lose perspective. Imagine if a friend or family member had lost 100 pounds, or even 50. You (or maybe just I) would think it insane to be disappointed with that! Crazy!! The health benefits are immeasurable, the change in appearance would be huge and it would be an enormous achievement. Maybe its the Australian in me coming out but I'm finding my thoughts and expectations are a little different to a lot of what I read. As far as I am concerned you have done awesomely! Take a moment to congratulate yourself on taking life altering action by having the sleeve done, think of all the progress you have made (I've kept a list of every single NSV I've had) and think about whether you *need* to do anything differently. You might find that relaxing things a little has a positive impact on your weight loss. Or not. Either way, the weight loss you have had is nothing to be sneezed at and you are doing brilliantly .

Well, I've been at goal a while, and thought nsvs, and indeed svs were a thing of the past, but this sleeve just keeps on giving! 1: On holiday last week my MIL sneakily took a photo of me in a skimpy swimsuit, I saw it, and althouhh I am far from habing a beach body, I wasnt horrified either! Yay! 2: Yesterday a friend posted a pic of a pub we'd been to together on facebook, and I spent ages trying to work out who the people in the pic were only to recognise myself by virtue of the handbag I was carrying! I genuinely have to keep looking at it, and checking that is what I look like now - odd! xx

NSV means Non-Scale Victory. Basically anything that you couldn't do or have happen to you before when you were heavier. -

So, my last NSV was being able to wrap a towel around my body...still lovin that! My new NSVs....... I WAS ABLE TO RIDE THE MINI ROLLERCOASTER WITH MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER ON SATURDAY!! I was not asked if I was pregnant, and the lap bar went all the way down to my new lovely lap! BTW...I HAVE A LAP!! It felt sooo good to be able to ride with my honey and not be embarassed that I was too big to ride. 2nd NSV, I NEED A BELT!! I have NEVER needed a belt, my pants were always plenty tight enough. Now, My pants sag on me and I really can't keep investing in clothes that won't fit in a couple months...it IS fun having to shop for all the cutest styles though! 3rd NSV, I can try on clothes at the flea market. OK, I know that sounds wierd...but hear me out. There is an Antique fair that happens once a month here in Sacramento, CA. I LOVE IT!! Well, I went on Sunday and I had a BLAST trying on all the vintage clothes over my clothes. It was so FUN! I bought a couple things too! Before VSG, I would have just been browsing and wishing, now thanks to "Sleevie Nicks" (because she is a ROCKSTAR! ) I can LIVE and be INVOLVED WITH LIFE!! *sigh* Life is good.

So today I took my Experimental Psych final and was kind of nervous about climbing into the seats. Our lecture halls have smallish seats and no space to crawl over people if you come in late. A year ago, in the same hall, I actually had to stay and wait for everyone to finish in my row so I could crawl out without literally squishing someone. Not to mention that I couldn't put the desk down all the way - my thighs were too big -- and it dug into my tummy and I was squeezed on both sides from teh arm rests. WELL! Today, I fit nicely in the seats, WITH EXTRA SPACE! My desk went down all the way and I was able to slither my way out of the row when I finished my exam without any embarrassment. I have never felt so happy to fit into a damn seat. I was beaming through my whole exam .
