  1. My go to snacks: My current favorite snack is toasted walnuts and pecans. I put the raw nuts in a pan, spray with Pam, add some Stevia and some salt, mix, and cook them on median heat until they start to brown. Let them cool and store them in the fridge. I use them on yogurt or just by themselves as snacks. My other go-to snacks: Deli meats with a slice of cheese, cold, leftover chicken, or a little salad with avocado and shrimp.

    2nd phase Pureed food ideas

I used a vitamix and puréed a can of tomatoes with a slice of seasoned tri-tip and a little broth to thin it out and added a little seasoning. You could also add some plain Greek yogurt for some extra nutrition.

    Food? A month post ip

Im 4 weeks out. Some of the stuff I am eating: Scrambled eggs, or small egg/cheese omlette, Cottage cheese, ricotta, Greek yogurt, pbfit, pb2 or other nut butters, refried beans with sour cream and a little cheese, hummus, tuna salad, sashimi sushi, deli meats (boars head is my fav), jennie O turkey frank with low carb ketchup, baked beans. If you use myfitnespal, please come find me. My ID is Jen_VSG2017. I have logged all my food there. Sent from my SM-G900T using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. The process has been AMAZING so far!!! I am 6 moths post op. My surgery was Nov 08, 2016. I am down 100Lbs as of today. Not a ton of sagging skin but I work on my bowflex everyday and get a full body oil massage every other week (including cupping) to help my skin.  I have only had a few minor issues with vitamin absorbtion. I get Iron infusions once a week and give myself B12 shots once a week. But that is nothing!! and I feel great!

I still hate that sick feeling after I eat! I try many different foods but Greek yogurt w/ protein is the ONLY thing that doesn't make me feel like crap after I eat it.  The feeling always passes in about 30 min but that 30 min is spent feeling like I need to lay down or get sick. Anyone that says this is the 'easy' way has NO idea what we go through EVERY day! you don't realize how much of a luxury eating was till you can't. My before and after is attached.

Congrats! You look great! I hope I can hit 100 pounds lost by the time I hit six months as well. I'm sorry to hear that you are still having food issues - I really haven't had that problem much, although last night was the first time in a long time I felt incredible discomfort after I ate. I guess for bariatric patients it means a longer struggle finding foods that work for us.

  6. You can also try sugar free pudding made with Fairlife skim milk or greek yogurt. Not sure if you're allowed that yet though.

    6 days post-op

You're doing fine! I'm 6 days post op too and totally understand what you're feeling! Get some rest if you're feeling tired, go for a walk if you're feeling anxious, maybe binge watch some vsg youtube videos if you just feel like you can't do anything else. On top of water, low cal drink mixes, and protein shakes, I've enjoyed sugar free jello, greek yogurt, and soups so far! Tomorrow I get to start pureed food and Shelly's Baked Ricotta is high on the list of things I'd like to try. We'll get through this. We had an idea of what we were getting into and we knew that we needed a big change to help get ourselves to where we want to be. Let's work towards that and remember that the unpleasant things we're feeling now are temporary.

    3 months post op hungry

I'd keep taking the prilosec, Don't be like me, lol. There is no harm in taking it for 6 to 9 months and a lot to not taking it. Just because you don't feel GERD issues doesn't mean you aren't producing excess acid. If you can eat food at other meals, eat food at all meals. Give up the protein shakes, and yogurt is just a slider. Eat ral potein as much as possible.
  14. 3 months post op losing weight but stomach hungry all the time why? If I have a Premier protein drink it goes away but every few hours I'm hungry. I'm eating Oikos triple zero yogurt, Premier protein drinks, chicken or fish 4 ounces. No bread no pasta sticking with the program down about 70 lbs since Feb 15 but always hungry. I stopped taking Prilosec last month and have no issues with gerd. Thanks for any input. John

Why are post-op diets so different?!

Well, 5 weeks of full liquids. Basically, anything that can be blended and/or put through a strainer: yogurt, pudding, soup, protein shakes, even liquidy oatmeal or cream of wheat.
  16. Hi. If you've had the traditional DS, there is no need to ever count calories. That's one of the beauties of the procedure. We also don't count fat grams. Eat full fat butter, mayo, yogurt. etc. We need this to help things move through the system. Once you're able to eat enough (or supplement with a protein drink until you can just eat and not need it) we aim for over 100 protein grams/day. I eat between 125-150 most days. Try and hold your carbs under 50gr. per day (esp. during the losing phase).
  17. I'll try again eventually. I did eat the deli ham by itself. I may have eaten too much or too fast. My tummy felt so inflated and just overall miserable. Same with the fish (haven't had a problem with tilapia though. The only time I've actually eaten anything together with anything else it was the cottage cheese and yogurt. I can eat cottage cheese by itself - no problem. I can eat yogurt by itself - no problem. But when I tried them together - sick, sick, sick. Almost to my Goal!

My surgeons diet was after the soft solids when i introduced solids was protein and vegtables only till 3 months post op, then i was able to introduce fruit but only aloud one fruit a day and no carbs (bread, pasta and rice) till 6 months post op. Now i still stay on high protein lower carb diet, no real sugar only substitutes, greek yogurts, cheese sticks, eggs, whole grains and sweet potatoes only, i also try to drink as much water as possible. Minimum of 64 oz to at least a gallon 120 oz. I do love to use weights at the gym and im working on building muscle since that helps to burn fat. Sent from my SM-G930P using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. I'm about a month out and per my docs, I was cleared for soft foods at 2 weeks (actually 2.5 since we have to wait until our 2 week checkup and mine was 2.5 weeks out) they said I could eat anything that could be cut with a plastic fork. That included soft beef (lean hamburger, soft stew meat, soft pot roast) I've noticed, myself, I have a problem with pink fish (salmon & tuna), scrambled eggs, deli ham, and cottage cheese with yogurt (definitely not doing that again since it was the ONLY time I've thrown up, though I can tolerate each on their own). I've had my mom's pot roast 3 times now and haven't had any problems with it, but it was plastic fork tender. I think everyone's system is different. But if you can't cut it with a plastic fork, avoid it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using BariatricPal mobile app

    HELP!!!

Try not to compare yourself to any one elses loss. I get on here and see people losing 40 lbs. in 2 months and yes it gets depressing when im barely losing. I have beeb sleeved for 6 weeks now. On sleeved date was 226, about 8 or 9 days later was down about 13 lbs. and there I stayed for almost 3 weeks. Lost about 2-3 lbs, and then stayed the same for the next 2 weeks, now just in the last few days have lost another 2 lbs. So it shows I'm down about 20 lbs in 6 weeks. I am following my surgeons plan though, I know I could get in more water but that has always been a struggle for me. It could also depend on your surgeon's plan. From day 2 we are allowed cottage cheese, pudding, yogurts, anything soft. Many people are on 2 weeks or more of liquid diet. Just keep following the plan they gave you and success will be yours! 21. I have the same sensation. I was sleeved on May 9th. My surgeon allows cream of wheat, and yogurt in the liquid phase. I have that feeling at times when I eat those foods. I just eat very slowly and take breaks between bites.
  22. I recently bought one too - looking forward to making yogurt too!

    June sleeve buddies?

Scheduled for June 21st. Already adding unflavored whey isolate powder to everything, doesn't taste too bad either, I bought the six star brand at Wal-Mart. First thing I mixed it in was lite strawberry yogurt and it mixed in with just a spoon. Sent from my SM-G360P using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. Well, it is kinda thick like a thinnish milkshake. The taste is a bit strong, but even though I wouldn't have liked it preop, its ok now. I've had the berry and banana. The banana is better. It takes a while to drink, but so does everything! Lol. I think of it like strong yogurt.
