  1. Hello, I would ask for more hours in a day, but I could not handle it, so I am asking for more days in a week! lol Summer has been flying by, seems I don't have much time to get on LapBand talk, goto Facebook, nancy iverson, my ticker is also on there, that was interesting, not sure how i got it on there! So how did june fill go and are the scales moving down? Doing church playdays and buck outs for the summer, lots a fun!

  2. You are being banded next week on the 14th?!?!?!? How exciting! I cant wait to hear how it goes for you! Do you have to stay over night?

  3. Thank you for the offer, I did go ahead a buy 3 different of Unjury so I think I will be good for awhile. I did have a few questions if you don't mind. I have been reading different q&a on different sites about the band. I keep seeing these stories about all the problems people have had with the band, such a vomiting, not able to keep anything down, bad pain, slimming, and something called PBing or PDing( do you know what that is?) I guess I should not be reading any of the bad stuff, my surgery is this Monday at 11:00 with Dr. Price and I am getting very nervous. I know I am doing the right thing, but I keep questioning myself about my decission. Did you feel the same way before your surgery? Dr Price told me that this will be easier than my gallbladder surgery I have a few years ago. Were you in much pain after your surgery and have you had any big problems with the band? Thanks for any insite you can give me.

  4. Hey Sara,

How are you doing? I was with you at the OCC May 22. You have talked with my brother a few times. I'm Linda (AnewLinda) Here and the OCC site. I have also wrote my name & contact info in Dr. O book you had at the OCC. Waiting for my pass port card at this time then plan on setting my fill appointment can't wait! If it gets here soon I may try to get in before the 18th, I'm sure they said we could get a fill anytime after 6 weeks...I'm so ready! If they won't let me in before the 18th then I would love to meet and go to the clinic.

    Talk at you soon, Linda

  5. you've done well. keep it up. hope to join you with my own journey in about 4 weeks. hopefully, you can give me some helpful tips.

  6. I'm just looking for someone who is online now that can answer these "duh" questions about the protein drinks: Do we consider them a food or a liquid? When I eat something for breakfast i.e. boiled egg, do I have to wait an hour BEFORE I drink a protein shake (like it was a liquid) or treat it as a food and wait an hour AFTER I drink it? And since they are liquid consistency how do I get the benefit of the protein--don't they just go right through like slider foods? confused.gif I know I should probably know this but I am a bit lacking in education of the basics. I left a message for my dr office to call me, but I need to know before next week :)

    Thanks for your response,

    Scout

  7. G'day, ur doing so well !!!! I have lost about 33lbs. A lot slower then i would like, but at least it is comming off. I have worked out it is only 1lb a week, I have 5.8cc in and think or rather am hoping by 6.5cc i will have reached my sweet spot. I can feel restriction if i eat fast and have had about 3 moments where i wondered if the food might go down but it only took a minute and i was fine. (that was with bread twice and steak once) Thankfully i am not at the point where i think i would vomit or anything. Going by only 1lb a week i should loose at least another 26lbs by the end of the year, that would mean i will be well over half way. It would be nice if i can make that goal or better yet a little more. My dream goal by the end of the year would be another 35lbs and then i will be under 200lbs and that will sound so much better :) By the way i am quite tall 174cm, lol.... cause i just thought 200lbs sounds bad too. lmao

  8. Hi, sorry it took so long for me to answer you. Good luck on your journey! I wish I could tell you I did something special but I just followed the doctors rules. Honestly I think the band adjusted my head too! The way I look at food has changed. Suddenly I Want to eat healthy. Before the band I didnt care. I do work out 5 days a week. It took me 6 months before I could say I enjoy it. Now I take several classes and love it! Let me know how you are doing. Best of luck - Diane

  9. JessiA,

I am so new to this website didn't even know how to get your message. I am on softs, or not so much really. I been suffering because bad choices in things to eat. I do feel full, different full but full after much less, but I can't wait to be filled. I have even eaten salad just not much. I like tuna, easy to chew and make soft. I like cheese but thought about calories and going to start buying less fat cheese, but one slice helps me out. I have done fruit soft. I have had one night not proud of, did go out to eat ate 8bits salad slice bread and 2oz of meat, 1/4 baked potato and was very full. Then 3 hours later snack with kids at movies with candy and popcorn and was in pain. I paid for that. So, with this I think we learn our lesson and keep learning until we start losing. This has been the toughest baddle of my life, Losing weight. I gotta give time and for my body to heal and ajust to this new life. I will see the scale move. YOU will see the scale move.

  10. Hello.. :) yesterday it was three weeks for me.. How are you feeling? this week is way easier for me... still really tired though..

  11. I am doing ok how are you? I have been getting hungry this week but other than that I have been good going to start working out this week I have just been busy with wedding planning this last week so I have not been doing much.. I got a work out plan for my wii so i am going to start doing that..

  12. Hey Bobbie...I am starting my pre-op diet today also. I am kinda excited. You know...just ready to get it over with. I have to do protein shakes for breakfast and lunch with a snack of yogart and a piece of fruit. Then for dinner i get 3 oz of meat and a cup of veggies. If i dont lose wieght on this...i dont know what else to say. Today is the beginning of our new lives!!

  13. Wow, I bet the Russian was a nightmare! The hubby went down last week on Wednesday & Thursday - he said it was combat fishin' at it's finest. I wanted to go, but knew if it was that crowded that those people would have killed me as I would have been the one to snag all their lines as we fish elbow to elbow!

My preference is Deep Creek or Whittier (we have an offshore fishing boat). We dipnet on the Copper River (using a friend's river boat) and use our smaller boat for the Kenai Dipnetting - so needless to say, I'll have PLENTY of PROTEIN to eat when I get the lap band.

We are retired Air Force (hubby retired in 2002) and decided to come back to Alaska to retire (we were previously stationed here from 1994-1998). The only negative thing about AK is being so far away from family.

Love to hear how your journey goes .....

    C'Ya,

    Tammy

  14. My surgeon just requires you to go on a 1200 calorie a day diet for two weeks. Its not bad since thats around what I usually eat a day anyway. Two days prior I go on an all liquid diet. But I have found a protein shake I really like so I don't imagine it'll be too bad. Wow the 24th! It sneaks up on you doesn't it?

  15. Hey TFTF.....I'm taking a break from the road right now. DH is still out there. We were long haulers all 48 and Canada. I'm on visit 3 of the 6 mos MD supervised diet.

Thanks for shout out. I was away that's why it took me a minute to respond.

  16. I lost almost 2 lbs last week. my n ew scale as ounces on them. So I didnt go down exactly 2 lbs. (just shy) but I'm going to pretend like I lost two pounds. haha

  17. We went to Pontiac Lake out in Waterford both days. It was nice. I usually don't hit the beach very much seen as how my brother has a pool but the pool turned green and we had to dump a bunch of chemicals in it and i'm like no way i'm not swimming in that. lol.

I usually just lose 2 lbs a week but it's been steady up until about a month or so ago and then it was 2 lbs every other week or 3 weeks straight and 1 off. it's been weird. Oh well every lb is 1 lb closer to goal. 115 lbs to go! Seems so far away but I know one day i'll get there!

Well it better get nicer out! I'm going to the Kid Rock concert Friday night at Comerica Park. I can't wait!!

  18. hey wow that is exciting you'll have to let me know how it goes! oh no lahey doesnt have any requirments like that its all on an individual basis according to what your insurance requires. My insurance only required 3 months and then I know anyother girl who is having it done there, she just started the process and has a date next month. What do you have to do at tufts??

  19. i am looking for a new doctor in north houston i had my lap band put in in 3 yrs ago

  20. Hi everyone. I was banded 22 months ago. I've never had any problems, well except once when the surgeon got pretty agressive with a fill and I had to have some taken out (which was my fault as I asked him to do it). I've lost 105 lbs and going for another 20. One thing that I know, it is important to have your coordinator's support. I meet with mine one to one every week. I have not been on this site before but I can tell that it is a useful tool in itself.

  21. Toot

Hey Ivy! Congrats on taking the first step: seminar. A couple of questions off the top of my head that I really wanted to know were. 1. How long has the Dr. been placing bands? 2. How many do they place in a month? 3. What's their personal stats, as far as slips and erosions? 4. What band do they use? 5. How much are fills? I'll hit u up later if I think of any more.

  22. aww thanks so much..you look great by the way!! I am getting so nervious...it kinda set in today that my surgery is in 2 weeks...oh im excited

  23. I hope you get this too - I'm new at this too and have no idea what I'm doing just yet! :0)

I know what you mean about starving. I am sooooo hungry! I get to start on "regular" food today! YAY!!! No more mooshy food! I found that the mooshy stage was the hardest. I am so sick of tuna salad, chicken salad, egg salad, etc. Plus, I haven't lost weight like I would like to have. I had my surgery on June 10th and I've lost 20 lbs - only 3 lbs on the mooshy diet. I'm hoping it gets better once I can incorporate veggies in my diet. I can't wait to have some grilled chicken and brocolli! 6 months ago I would have said I couldn't wait to have a big fat pizza with some german chocolate cake afterwards! haha

  24. could u please tell me # of days needed from work? After 3 day how were u feeling

  25. My surgery went great. Everybody is different but once my surgery was over, I wanted to walk around. I think I was in my room not even 5 minutes, and I asked the nurses if I could walk. I had dry mouth and felt like there was phlem in my throat but that was because of the breathing tube that they put in my mouth during surgery. They did give me some lemon swabs to take the dryness away. I didn't even have to ask for the pain meds, the nurses just came in and gave them to me whenever it was time. The heprin shots they give to prevent blood clots bruised me up. I stayed in the hospital overnight. Dr. Lutfi is very nice. I lost 37 pounds so far. 20 pounds I lost on the 2 week preop diet drinking slim fast low carb. The other 17 pounds I lost after the band was placed, but it seems it has slowed a bit because I am back on solid foods now. I have my first fill on July 14th. It is worth it though. So have you went to any classes yet?
