Finally did a full protein day

I think it is the kind of protein drink you have. I love my protein powder and I mix in my Yogurt. It taste like good old chocolate pudding. The chewable vitamins I was recommended to get was Flintstones. They are soooooo good for your multi vitamin.
  2. I have heard that meat tenderizer can help clear up blockages but I have never tried that. Generally I force myself to vomit. According to the internet: The most common meat tenderizer used in India is raw (un-ripened) papaya The leaves, and green skin of raw papaya contain an enzyme called Papain. The connective tissue in the meat breaks down when it comes in contact with Papain. Papaya is preferred tenderizer for red meat (Lamb, Mutton, Goat, Beef). It can be used for fowl. The preferred tenderizer for fowl is Yogurt. Glad you are better.
  3. I forced myself to eat a yogurt and gagged the whole time. My husband finally asked why the hell I was eating something I hated. I hate eggs, milk or yogurt and I still can't do it!
  4. Hi guys I'm 4 weeks out and on soft food and I don't think I'm eating enough. I eat twice a day and shakes and fairlife milk, sugar free pudding, yogurt and sugar free drinks or water the rest of the day. Is this ok? I'm trying to get everything in but I just get full so fast it's hard. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Ok maybe it's not a stall but given that I was losing a point or so a day the first to weeks, to not have the scale move for 6 days is unsettling. Surgery 5/2. Lost 21lbs in the preop diet and 16lbs post op so far. I'm eating between 600-800cals per day. On on purees. My meals are like this: Breakfast: premier protein shake Snack: Greek yogurt Lunch: soup- like a chicken broth with veg Dinner: 1/3 cup puréed meat, 1/4 cup each of puréed veg and potatoes I'm getting about 80 oz of water. Protein is about 60g so yesterday I also added another shake to get to 90. I'm nervous to go on regular foods soon and gain if I'm not losing now. Any other suggestions? Or just calm the F down[emoji52]

    Yogurts?

Thank you all for the advice. I love Greek yogurt but the doc has said specifically to stay away from it while on all liquid the first couple of weeks.
  8. I just bought some today for the first time! I'm enjoying the Oikos yogurt drink. It has 10 grams of protein and is 7 ounces. It does have quite a bit of sugar though (11 grams) and is 110 calories. I don't think I'd make this particular yogurt drink a regular part of my diet, but it's a nice break from the protein drinks, waters, and soups that I've been having lately.
  9. I'm 3 days out of surgery and have drinkable yogurt on the list after day 4. Can anyone recommend a good brand that offers high protein in small quantities?

What does your daily food intake look like?

I am almost a year out and I don't watch carbs but I focus mostly on protein. I say my doctor for my one year appointment yesterday and the nutritionist said I needed to add more fruits and veggies and I can back up on the protein. So here is a sample of what I eat: Breakfast: 1 egg scrambled with 1/2 ounce white american cheese. 1 oz turkey Canadian bacon. 1 cup cold brew coffee with 2 teaspoons creamer. Snack: Greek yogurt or fruit Lunch: Usually left overs from dinner (so chicken, steak, pork, burger) or 2 ounces of turkey lunch meat and 1/2 ounce white american cheese Snack: popcorn, pringles bakes sticks, or Muuna cottage cheese. Dinner: I mostly make weight watcher recipes. So I have 3-5 ounces of protein with 1-2 ounces of veggies. Snack: small square of dark chocolate, popsicle, fruit

    Yogurts?

I have been using the car master brand at my local store Krogers I get the car master protein milk for my protein shakes and then I get the carbmaster key lime pie and cinnamon roll flavor yogurts. Yogurts are 9g protein in a 1/2 cup portion.
  13. lalame

    3 months post op hungry

I'm five and a half months out and still drink one Premier Protein shake a day. I also start my day with Oikos Drinkable Yogurt. Both work for my lifestyle and my nutritionist has no problem with it. Drinking a shake probably has nothing to do with you're being hungry. It's probably the Prilosec. I take one 40 mg Prilosec (pantoprazole) a day. Although I still don't get hungry, I know if I have gone too long between eating. If drinking a protein shake works for you, you should continue drinking it. I bet the Prilosec will help.

    Yogurts?

I don't eat artificial sweeteners as my research shows they don't help with weight loss, in fact the opposite occurs. Therefore, I stay away from sugar-free yogurt. Instead, I eat FAGE plain Greek yogurt, which has 20g of protein in it. I sometimes add fresh puréed fruit or strawberry or chocolate Unjury protein powder if I want to flavor it up a little.
  16. You're already on cottage cheese and yogurt? I'm told clear liquids until day 8 and a protein drink , then I can start some of that.
  17. I was in surgery for about an hour and a half. I also had a hernia that the doctor repaired. My surgery started at 4:00 and I was out of recovery and in my room at 8:45. I've only taken pain medicine once today, and I didn't take the full dose. I just ate some cottage cheese and before that I had some banana yogurt. I've also been sipping on some yummy light lemonade that the hospital gave me.

    Yogurts?

I highly recommend Yoplait Greek 100 protein vanilla yogurt. Its a winner for me. If you can stomach plain yogurt, go for the FAGE plain it has like 20g of protein.
  19. Breakfast an oikos yogurt, snack a slice of cheese or cheese stick, lunch cottage cheese or tuna package, afternoon snack more cheese. dinner normally whatever meat I cook for the family for dinner, plus the veggies or just cottage cheese again. For instance if I make them burgers, I'll just have mine in a bowl with tomatoes, pickles, and ketchup, no roll. Protein shakes to supplement if I'm short on protein for the day. Actually she told me to stop taking my calcium pills today as I was getting too much calcium. I have to keep track and not get too much calcium in or I'll get I think she said calcium deposits or something like that. One less pill I have to take work's for me [emoji4] Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. I am 4 days out of operation.. in the clear liquids phase of the diet... struggling to get anything down. On the list of food from my doctor, it says yogurts. I believe they need to be sugar free and pretty much "chunk" free. Can anyone recommend a kind/brand for this? Hoping yogurt might get the nasty protein taste out of my mouth.

    DS Youngster

I was 23 when I had my DS, but I weighed around 650 lbs. I am now a few months shy of 8 years post-op. There's an AMAZING DS group on FB if you're interested in me adding you. I've seen about 65lbs of regain, but that still puts me at maintaining over 70% EWL. HW: 650+ SW: 636 LW: 213 CW: 278 Favorite protein: Cellucor Peanut Butter Marshmallow (mixed with Fa!rLife milk). Daily vitamins: Multi x2 D3 (dry) 50,000-100,000 daily, per lab work K1 E A B12 Copper (as need, per labs) Calcium Magnesium Oxide Go-to snacks: Pork Rinds, cheese of any kind, Greek yogurt, and peanut butter.
  22. Idk if this is normal but my surgeon is ok with me taking pills. It seems odd since my popsicles and yogurt can't have lumps. I have so many pills to take. This outta be fun!

    Pre Op Diet

I'm on day 6 of 14. It is still tough but getting through it. Water...drink water when you find yourself having a headache. Warm items help me feel more satisfied. Soups and high protein hot chocolate are my favorites. Add ice in a blender with your shakes...it gives them a little bulk and there are small bits of ice you can chew! I add benefiber to one or two of my shakes each day to help keep things moving. I get up every 2 hours (sometimes less) to use the bathroom. I've lost about 7lbs since I started and I'm sure a lot of that is water! I'm trying a new recipe every day for shakes and soups. So while I'm having 2 chocolate premier protein shakes a day, the third one is usually something different. (My plan is 3 shakes and 3 protein liquid foods per day). I keep trying different yogurts but so far haven't found one I like. I keep telling myself better liver better surgery. I repeat that every time I see a food commercial or someone offers me something and I have to resist. Sent from my SM-G920V using BariatricPal mobile app

    Just wondering

Way to go! I'm sure you are working hard! Hope you are proud of yourself! Weight loss can slow down but it is different for everyone. There can be a lot of reasons for this but don't let it mess with you. Focus on keeping up the good habits - whatever exercise you like, lean protein first and hydration. One reason that weight loss can slow down is that we weigh less and it takes less energy to do the same activities. As my surgeon put it - It is like driving a car to Florida and hauling something. If you are hauling 3000 pounds you are going to use more gas than if you are hauling 1000 pounds. Cravings and head hunger started to get really intense around the 8 to 9 month mark for me. It doesn't happen for everyone, some people don't even get cravings back. My best advice is read about mindful eating or books by Geneen Roth maybe get some counseling (helpful for me cause I'm a stress eater) and if possible avoid keeping around sweets if they trigger you to eat. I keep around sugar free popsicles and yogurt for when I really want something sweet. All the best to you!! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using BariatricPal mobile app
