Ugh... the damn thing double quoted for some reason. Sorry. As I said though, there are people on this board that swear by it because their blood test came back good after their 6 month or whatever. However unless you are talking more than a year, that could be from breaking down their own muscle tissue or the fact that they are getting the minimum needed from their diet to be in the normal range. Genepro is pretty much just BCAA's (amino acids that build proteins). That would leave protein markers in the bloodstream. Now, with all of that being said. If someone chooses to use it, it's no skin off my nose and doesn't matter to me one way or another.

WHATS THE BEST PROTEIN POWDER
kellym1220 replied to Jennie4315's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would say do not over-invest! I bought every protein powder known to man and recommended on here. You should try and get samples to figure out what you like...not just buy them all willy-nilly! (Like me!). My favorite, though, is Genepro which is pretty much flavorless and can be mised with almost anything (refried beans, SF jello, any recipe) to boost protein. I also use Premier Protein or Fairlife Vanilla pre-mixed in my coffee each morning. Good luck!! -
3 Weeks Post Op - Are chips and Guacamole allowed?
trekker954 replied to iam_yamii's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in Mexico this week for work. At the breakfast buffet, put a smidgen of refried beans on my plate. Ooooo, must be a chili in there. The guac was delicious though. I'm hoping the business lunch will have good offering of protein. I'll bring a packet of genepro with me just in case. As I progress, I notice I do get hungry if I go 3 hours without protein. At home this won't happen but on travel it does. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App -
Where do I find Genepro?

I take Genepro and I love it... I out itin my V8 juice every morning . Cannot taste it or smell it!!!!

In order to substain weight loss success for long term we have to learn healthy interaction with food... GENEPRO isn't food. "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them" Einstein

Ok I told you that I had ordered the Genepro well I did and I love it omg I have put it in my food and didn't even taste it was there. And the scoop is not huge like the others. And it comes with travel bags you have to look inside the bag for them. And 30 grams of protein for a whole scoop and its 15grams for a half of scoop. You can even mix it in coffee I put it in my milk when I'm making cereal all I can say is I love it! !!!!!

I've tried a few and lots don't taste too good and the ones that do taste good have tons of sugar but I love the gnc ones choc strawberry vanilla I don't care for the Orange cream by the way they will let u sample the ready to drink ones I asked lol also isopure ready to drink is good expensive tho gnc has great products I shop there get the yearly membership it's 15$ and u get a discount when shopping one or two trips pays for it and they frequently have bogo 50% off sales it's worth it they recommend the big black container gosh I can't recall the brand and the gnc women's lean choc prices are better for the powder and u mix it yourself also they have the shaker bottles with the little metal whisk inside those are awesome u can buy those at bedbathandbeyond too also the gnc powder ones in the white containers have seasonal favors like now they have banana, pumpkin like that I'm still pre op but trying things to see what I can tolerate when I first tried the gnc lean shakes ready to drink I got them at rite aid a local drug store that sells gnc products they had single bottles so I got a couple to try before buying large quantitys they were very friendly and helpful at gnc seemed very knowledgable about what they sell hope this helps also I've read many positive posts here re genepro protein powder check it out at musclegen.com it's a powder u can put in any liquid food or soup hot or cold and doesn't clump smell or taste bad tho I hear it stinks in the pkg lol but not in the food or drink and its a high protein amount and I think only one scoop is needed I plan to try it ok anyway good luck msg me anytime

My head is so foggy I can't get my **** together. Help, please?
Yaberhoo replied to glitterpockets's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all, be gentle to yourself during this hard time. You have just experienced a tragedy and you are in shock. Forgive yourself for being spacey and allow yourself to grieve. Protein. I hate all the Protein shakes I have tried so far. I use GENEPRO and mix it with sugar free hot chocolate or a cream based Soup. It's whey and unflavored (but not tasteless) so the milk based foods hide it better. You need to use a thermometer to keep the liquid below 140 degrees or the Proteins start to congeal like fried egg. Vitamins. I found a one a day Vitamin specifically for bariatric patients on Amazon. It's called Bariatric Once-A-Day by Prohealth. -
I think I figured it out

I couldn’t tolerate shakes after surgery and still can’t. I went to gnc and bought genepro. I mix it in with my water and some crystal light flavoring and that’s what I use instead of shakes. -
Help, please! Premier Protein shakes taste awful to me.. Need recommendations!
TEXASLADY52 replied to blissfulbeing's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Your taste does change. Right after surgery I could not stand Premier....could not gag them down....too thick...too chalky. Tried one the other day and decided it wasn't too bad after all and ended up buying three cases (because they were on sale for $19.99..LOL). Since my surgery up to this time...I used GENEPRO...it is oderless and tasteless...I mix it with Crystal Light....30 grams of Protein....I get it from Amazon. -

Never used any ready to drink shakes I didn't find any I liked. Purchased unjury chocolate flavor. Mix it with coconut almond milk in a shaker Took it on the go wherever I went. Heated up for hot cocoa. I went to IKEA and bought several metal tumbler cups with lids and they keep my drinks cold or hot first long as I take to drink them. And I use a thermos to take extra milk to work if I need it. I carry Genepro flavorless protein powder add to my water or oatmeal or crystal light. -
November 2015 Sleevers?
robin45 replied to goddess977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 11/23. HW 240, SW 232 CW 199. I can start full diet this week, but honestly I have had no urge or tolerance to go beyond yogurt, Fairlife milk, cottage cheese and Genepro protein mixed into tea and water. I can tolerate 1-2 tablespoons of anything, but since I can't eat more than that, I usually don't bother preparing anything. The one thing I have found super easy to go down is cocktail shrimp. I had zero pain after surgery, but significant nausea. I returned to work 4 days after surgery. I struggle more with getting in the RDA of 4700 mg of potassium than anything else, and have to drink low sodium V8 to even get halfway there. I haven't started exercising in earnest yet, and other than trying to get my daily steps up, I'm not pushing until the weight loss slows down because my calories still haven't made it over 500 per day and I am pretty weak. While I miss the social aspect of eating and drinking a little, I have zero regrets. At 2.4 pounds per week average loss for the past 3 weeks, my loss is slower than some, but steady, and I will be thrilled if I end up at goal around a year. -
The need to eat until stuffed
ShelterDog64 replied to nnagle323's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@bleonhardt It doesn't change it at all, at least to my palate. I use cream in my coffee, so I mix the scoop of GENEPRO with the coffee cream, then mix that into my coffee. It's really helped me and made my weight loss more successful! -

Thanks for the info, Jerome at unjury...I'm well aware of the 'concerns' about Genepro. Your product unfortunately makes me vomit, so I've found something else that works. I'm losing weight and my labs have been stellar. -
Man thank you so much. I have been doing 2 premiere proteins a day, but they're wayyyyy to sweet. Chicken broth is wayyyy to salty. Lol. I am making do with water and jello sugar free pudding. Went to Starbucks and got a peach green tea lemonade unsweetened. Best thing ever. I'm doing good with getting at least 64 ounces of fluid, but the sweet protein - yuck. Have you tried unflavored protein? I use Genepro almost every day, it's 30 grams per tablespoon and has no flavor. I add a scoop in decaf coffee, I also use it in SF pudding..I purchase mine on Amazon. One way to cut the sweetness on the premiere is by adding it to cold decaf coffee, with a few pumps of SF torani syrup. With the chicken broth, are you getting low sodium? Our taste buds change so drastically after surgery but I promise it gets easier everyday I ordered and got the Genpro. Tried it today - glad you suggested it. I put it in my Crystal lite raspberry lemonade. It's the best. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App so glad that you got it and more than anything like it. That little container will become one of your best friends. One of my fave ways to use for sweet cravings is with sugar free banana cream pudding. I use the Genepro, pudding and fat free fair life milk (which has 13 g of protein per cup) and have a great protein filled snack or meal

Struggling with my 3 meals
CheleLynn45 replied to Crystal88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Crstal88.......I was sleeved on 10/27/14. I had my 2 week post op appointment yesterday with my surgeon. Everything is going really well. At my two week mark I could start mushy type foods so I did. Everything I have tried so far has gone down well. Thank God! I have always ate three meals a day and usually a snack at night so I did have to cut that out because my surgeons practice says NO SNACKING. I am still off of work so it's a little easier with my meal planning. I am suppose to be doing two shakes a day and one small meal. I was doing two meals and one shake but doc wants me doing two shakes and 1 meal so that is what I will do most days, but some days I am doing two meals and one shake. I was able to get my Protein on the days I was doing 2 shakes and 1 meal by adding unflavored GENEPRO to my drinks. I try to get my Breakfast in pretty soon after I wake up, shakes go down just fine for me in about 20 minutes. then I wait my 30-40 mins and I start with my liquids and try to get at least 24oz in before I have to stop drinking to be able to eat/drink my lunch. Then I wait again and start my liquids to get them in before dinner. And then sometime between 5-7 depending when my husband gets home I do dinner. then more liquids. This really seems to work for me and I think even when I go back to work it will continue to work. The only issue I have right now is if I have an appt or something around lunchtime I have to figure out how to get my lunch in in between. But it really boils down to planning planning planning!! I'm not really hungry at all much during the day so I think that helps me to stick to my plan. I have to really make sure to plan since in my family there is me, my husband and my daughter. My daughter has decided to not eat meat anymore so at dinnertime I am basically making three different dinners. So far it has been working, but again not without planning. When I wasn't watching what I ate it was easy to get lazy and then just eat whatever, this makes us plan ahead. I hope any of this helps. Good luck, I always hate when I read on here that people are struggling with things, you know you just want to reach thru the computer and fix it!!! Good luck and I hope it gets easier for you!! -

No Flavor Protein Powder

I use Genepro, and the stuff us amazing. No taste, and only about a tablespoon worth equals about 30 grams of protein. You can buy it in amazon. .. it also mixes great with hot foods and liquids with no clumping. -
No Flavor Protein Powder
orionova replied to MommyRedmond's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's pretty simple. You cannot get 30 grams of something in only 15 grams. Genepro claim that the 10 grams you get is equivilent to thirty grams of protein because of the way it's absorbed. And it says that it is absorbed in the area of the intestines that gets cut out in RNY. I don't know about other surgeries because I don't have any experience with those. So even if the thirty grams of protein is true, you still can't absorb it properly if it does get absorbed in the upper part of the intestines like they say. By all means, use it if you want. But don't count it as thirty grams of protein. -
Protein Powder Struggles - I found relief
Danny'sGirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just over 2 weeks post-op and have really struggled to get all my protein in because I dislike the taste of the protein drinks and powder. So I ordered a powder recommended on one of the boards and it arrived yesterday. I love it! At 11 am, I already have 67g of protein. I had one scoop in my V-8 and a second scoop in my Crystal Light. I can't taste it nor did it change the texture of the drink. It's called Genepro and I ordered it directly from the manufacturer. -
My body feels awful...

I love the Genepro... It saved me... I put it in apple juice... I too could not get all my water and protein in... Made me gag... I am 9 weeks out and I can tell you it gets better! I now out my Genepro in V8 juice! The thing that saved me was sugar free Popsicles .... They kept me hydrated . Good luck!
