I am 6'4" and currently am about 290. Had no problem on roller coasters last week at Busch Gardens (Virginia), although I did not go on them all. Florida has a law that mandates a row for "larger" people. When in Florida -just find out what row it is and hop on. When I am around 260-270 I know I have no problem at all on any coasters (never had a problem). Think of it as a NSV goal !!

Don't worry about the scales....you need to focus on NSV (none scale victories) for example loose clothing....I have went from a size 50-52 and is currently wearing 40-42, but I still want to lose more weight. Be encouraged!

That is similar to what I started doing around 2 months post-op. Idk that it helped with loose skin, but it definitely seemed to help with weight loss. Also, I look toned and fit. I actually had a stranger on a plane the other day say I was “ripped” and asked if I do cross fit. The stranger also happened to be a very attractive man in my age group. Lol! Best NSV yet! 😊

So, just had a really positive NSV this evening when my hubby and I took our two kiddos to the carnival in town. I can ride all the rides without smushing my guts into them and feeling like the restraints would give at any time. I tell you it was really a good feeling to just hop up on the ride, pull the harness down and go! I didn't feel like people were starring at me anymore! Awesome NSV!!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

I keep reading horror stories...
Keeper replied to Keeper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your responses. The horror stories I was reading were not from this forum, but another. I found a site via Pinterest and was looking at before/after pics. Then I came across a newbie post from a girl who was almost 21 and asking about things like scars and drinking because she wanted to drink on her birthday, etc. The replies were relentless and HARSH. I expect to see some bad stories, have seen some on this forum, but the backlash these ADULTS were giving this girl and the things they said scared me. Am I susceptible to fear a day or two pre-op? Why yes, yes I am. I came back here and found the NSV thread. That helped. Reading victories beyond the numbers, feeling people's happiness, having something to look forward to myself - I fell asleep. Now just one day to go. -
Them NSV are the best !!!

And what 2 things in 5 years will be your NSV? Mine will be not cringing at the size stage or having to constantly verifying prices to know if I can afford it. Small things but I believe it will bring me JOY!

I'm two weeks out today and went shopping for a few hours and I feel like I could drop any minute now:( I'm so tired and so winded. I know if I don't push myself that I won't get stronger, but I also have to listen to my body, lesson learned. Some good news is that I noticed just some slight changes...(can we say NSVs:) I THINK my lower back doesn't hurt anymore, could this really be??? Also, my posture has shifted a bit, I think it's because of the belly fat loss so far. One more thing, I can now sleep on my side and I love it. These are itsy bitsy NSVs so I can't wait for the major ones.

What kind of eater am I?
thsisme replied to peacequeen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
happygirl and Phranp have hit the nail on the head! There are no definitive answers, but there are guidelines and suggestions that will assist one in finding what works best for them. It will take time to learn how not to allow food to rule your life. Food life will go on without you and it will be around you. You will learn your trigger foods and what situations trigger your desire to eat food. You will have to learn how to deal with them and you will have to accept and forgive yourself if or when you fall off the wagon. I know what my trigger foods are and I know what tips me over to wanting to reach for that particular piece of food/snack and I have learned to avoid reaching for the food fix. It haunts me and I have to fight the urge to give in. However, my rewards, though may be small are enough for me, when I get on the scale and I have not gained, when I am ready to go down to a smaller size in clothing, or any other NSV...I give myself a mental tap on the back with a reminder that I probably would not have gotten to that point had I given in as evidenced by my past eating behavior vs my current behavior. I too keep a food and exercise journal and sometimes when I am fixated on eating, i plan my whole meal day or the remaining portion of the meals and then I get moving. If I have time to sit and think of meals, then I have time to walk or do something else. The band is work, it helps keep me on track while I'm working the issues of learning a new life that is free from hip and knee pain, I can now sit in a booth instead of having to ask for a table with chairs, I can fly without having to have an extender and I don't have to cross my arms and manuever my body into awkward postions so that I don't flow over into the next seat on the plane and my newest adventure in lapbandom...I am getting ready to go shopping in a store that is not a plus size speciality shop! If you are ready and you are prepared to commit to this process, chances are that you will never regret your decision, as others here have already said the band is not for everyone and you should do your research to be educated on the risks and the benefits. I wish you luck on your journey! -
Brandy, what an awfully insensitive thing for your mother to say. I'm sorry that you had to endure that after such a wonderfully cathartic day (and I'm thinking it was probably a great NSV for you, too). My mother would probably say something similar, but I do know that in her case, it would be because she doesn't throw a darned thing away and she's from the Depression Era. Even if it doesn't fit or is out of style, it stays because it cost money. Unfortunately I have gotten that packrat mentality and I've got to get control. I hope to be able to do what you did today and clear stuff out. Good for you for doing that.

I had a plethora of NSVs this week that I totally didn't even realize! It's probably a good thing since the scale hasn't been moving much (almost 5 weeks out). I need any kind of victory I can get! 1. went off the (low) diving board at a public pool for the first time in years! I have a torn meniscus and was always afraid I wouldn't be able to get up the ladder. I also had fears of snapping the board in half! lol 2. I went out to dinner for the first time since being allowed real food and stayed on the plan. I actually went out twice, got chicken once and seafood once (all baked or grilled)... had maybe two bites of the accompanying mashed potatoes and rice (forgot to substitute my sides). 3. Went out bar-hopping with college friends and didn't drink a single drop of alcohol! These friends do not know about surgery and I want to keep it that way for the time being. I had to get very creative since there were many toasts to the newly engaged friend and to my weight loss (ha ha- the irony). An 8oz bottle of Water fit great in my purse for my trips to the bathroom! lol 4. I actually went to bars both nights this weekend and made it home without stopping for fast food. I used to be the queen of 4th meal- Taco Bell, Wendys, McDs. I was ssoooo tempted (this was the hardest NSV) on my way home because I was actually hungry. Instead, last night when I came home I had a few salami roll-ups and tonight had some milk. 5. I finally joined My Fitness Pal and started tracking my food. It's definitely not as difficult or time-consuming as I expected (the reason I put it off). 6. I went to see my psychologist for the first time since surgery. I was seeing her long before surgery and she was actually the biggest advocate of this for me and facilitated the discussion with my mom because I was too terrified. Anyway... she didn't recognize me! Legitimately, she wasn't just saying that. I was wondering why she didn't say hi to me when I saw her sitting outside the building! Whoo hoo! As always, thanks for all the support! Love this place!

Disneyland NO SEATBELT EXTENDER!
BarrySue replied to Aggiemae's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
WONDERFUL! I just got back from Paris Disney where everything is teeny tiny, and I could also fit comfortably into everything. Best sort of NSV are the ones that let you enjoy the magic too! -
So I have lost 91 pounds since I started this journey many months ago. I was wearing at my largest size 5x tops at times, mostly 4x. All of my 3x top and pants are starting to get too big and people keep telling me I need to buy new clothes. I just hate to spend any money. I ordered some stuff, cause I still won't shop in stores, online from the clothing place I would buy all my plus size clothes from and everything I bought I picked as 2x figuring even if I didn't fit into it I could save it. Everything I bought fit me!!!! 2 of the tops and 1 of the pants were a bit too snug but they were on me.....I'll probably hold off wearing those for a bit but everything else, 2 other tops and 4 pair of pants all fit comfortably, I was pleasantly surprised.

I'm down -3 lbs this week!!! Woot woot! I can officially say that the after Christmas/Holiday vacation recovery is fully underway! I haven't done anything drastic, I've just been back to work for a week, eating healthy choices, drinking lots of fluids, and really just watching all the crappy stuff leave my every day meal choices! And it's working! So glad! I was technically on a 3 week stall, because I was eating so much bad stuf the last few weeks, that this week I felt soooo much better and in control. I'm going after my 145 lbs goal with complete focus! I'd love to hit it in the next 3 to 4 months! I'd be sooooooo excited! Just got to keep focused, and know that the little numbers add up to big numbers in the end!! And my NSV? I walked into the the GAP yesterday and grabbed a pair of size 8 jean legging (jeggings I think they are called) and they fit perfectly. I walked into a name brand store and bought a pair of size 8 jeans??? Whaaaat? REALLLYYYY? WHaaaattt???? It's made my week! So excited! I am trying to find all the NSV I can find. I did a little blog about the ones I have seen so far. And I looked back over my blogs and I realized I blogged about the day we went to the Third Day Concert (almost a year ago) and the shirt I wanted to wear didn't fit. Fast forward to today and I am wearing that shirt..the one that didn't fit!!! Hopefully the picture will attach. The pic on the left was last year and it's a picture of the Concert picture...but you get the idea. The one on the right is today. Not a before and after, but definitely a before and during!! I still have a ways to go but I can definitely see the progress!!

Hi all well guess what i knew i lost weight cause the scale says so but i haven't really noticed. But i had to get a new swimming suit. My old one that by the way last summer was almost to small now is way to big I can't even pretend to keep my breast were they are suppose to be at in there. So i thaught that was cool. I didn't think i had lost enough weight that my bathingsuit wouldn't fit so it was a nice surprise luckly my mom had a smaller one that fit.
