    Well Good For Me!

Great NSV! Congrats on your great weight loss and enjoy your new skirt.
  2. Hi everyone! Well I was sleeved one week ago, 6/18. When I first started this journey I was 262 but averaged 255 for the past year. The day of my surgery I was 246 and today I am 233. The first three days were not good! I was miserable, in pain, and had buyers remorse! Then Thursday, I totally jumped out of bed and felt energized. On Friday I was feeling awesome. Saturday was hard because my mom and sister came to visit me from out of town and she cooked for the whole family and I really wanted an enchilda! to the point of almost crying... But she also made me Soup and it was wonderful. My mom left on Sunday but physically I was feeling awesome. I went to several store but I was not in the mood to shop (in my case that is very rare). Today I made an executive decision to go back to work. I truly cannot be home! I have been surviving on pudding, yogurt, and strained Soups. Oh and I went to a Mexican Restaurant and ordered Menudo but asked them to leave out the meat and hominy... after the weird look from the cook, I explained that I was fresh out of surgery and I cannot eat that. OMG! it was soooo good! I had about 3 oz of it and I did not get sick, despite how spicy it was. I know I need to stay away from spicy food but dang it, it was worth it! Anyway, my clothes are fitting looser and my face is looking skinny! I continue to take my bariatric Vitamin (mulit, Calcium, Iron, and b12 sublingual). I try to drink all the Water I possibly can but I am sure that I don't drink enough. I don't think I am dehydrated though because I pee a lot. Oh NSV: I am not longer on metformin, glipizide, blood pressure and high cholesterol meds!!!!! I check my blood pressure once a day and my glucose levels and they have been withing normal range! AMAZING!! My first goal was achieved right after surgery! If anyone has any questions, please let me know, I am sure I have forgot to mention a lot of stuff. Have an awesome day everyone!! Sorry for the long post, I couldn't stop typing.
  3. (I'VE ADDED PHOTOS IN A LATER POST....scroll down) Ok old timer pro sleevers or anyone else, really... did this ever happen to you?? I've lost 70 pounds, I've gone from a 30 to an 18/20 (tight, but i got them ON! ), I now fit in bathrooms stalls, airplane bathrooms, airplane seat belts, chairs at places I avoided because of...small chairs, I can reach my feet, feel my hip bones and rib bones, see my chin, cross my legs, reach stuff on the floor from a sitting position, walk up the stairs without getting winded, workout for an hour like it's nothing, get up from the floor without the aid of chairs or 8 strong sailors and a winch--and a plethora of other NSVs... BUT--(we all have a big BUT, don't we??) I CAN'T SEE IT IN THE MIRROR!!!! I see the same 349 lbs staring back at me. WHY oh WHY is my brain doing this to me??? Is this a normal part of the process?? Will it get better? I don't even think my before and after pics look drastically different. That has to be some sort of sickness.... lol

  9. Ok I am out with my family..and I fit in the booth at Rafferty's with room to spare..see the picture!!! I have never been comfortable in a booth at Rafferty's..shut up room to spare!!!! And I am having the side salad sans the potato sticks and cheese with egg and fat free dressing! This is truly a victory for me!!! I feel "normal". Sorry about the boob shot..but I can't suck those in..lol..not even sucking in anyway!!!
  10. Not only did I put on a size 16 pair of shorts that we're too small 3 weeks ago, I'm at Six Flags. AND, I'm not just waiting in my kids, I'm actually riding roller coasters. . It's awesome!!!!
  11. Went to a party last weekend. Saw some people that haven't seen me in a long time. Everyone was shocked how good I looked. Some were happy for me, some hated. I'm stilll adjusting to my new body. I wore a tight dress for the first time in well over a year. I felt sexy and a tad bit self conscious. My confidence is improving. Yay to NSV's!!!

  12. I went out and bought me a bikini....still have a lot more work on my mid section I hate my flabby stomach and all my stretch marks eww! But I feel great being able to look ok in a bikini....not only that but I held up my body weight this morning using only my arms so that's another NSV for me!!! Anyways here is the pic of me in my bikini (can't believe I'm posting this, taking all my courage) Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

suchaprettyface good for you, rewarding yourself with a pedicure., you deserve it. Two months post-op, losing 50 lbs down is terrific.. Even looking into a full length mirror is ane great NSV. Things can get pretty rough in your personal life. Then dealing with your new sleeve and stress is very hard. You know how wonderful the sleeve is, i'll keep forward to seeing less of you. keep up the great work chin up too best kathy

    Weighing ...

I was bulimic 30 years ago & then quit purging but kept binging. Then I really gained. Therapy has helped (and is) helping me with my head issues. You are doing great! Just look at it as doing the best you can everyday & you'll be surprised how fast it goes. Then, enjoy the NSV's (non scale victories). All the best!
  15. I never set official goals, but I did not look at the long-term either. I suppose my next goal was also the next pound. I celebrated every pound down and I still do! It is most definitely the small victories and our NSV's that make this journey not only possible but enjoyable as well.

    Running Nsv

I LOVE MY SLEEVE! Tonight I completed a 5K in 39 minutes! This is a major accomplishment for me. Before being sleeved it hurt to walk across campus at my school. This evening I ran a good 2.5 miles without walking or stopping AND I was chatting. My pace wasn't anything to brag about, but I DID IT! I have lost 62 pounds and I have quite more to go, but my body is capable of so much more than I ever believed. I registered for two 5Ks and I plan on running the tinkerbell half marathon in January. I can't believe that these events are even possible. Thank you to those who have offered guidance and answered my questions recently. My sleeve and the VST community are awesome. I'm in week two of a stall and that has gotten me down, but HOLY COW I did an awesome job this evening!

    Small Nsv

Some people may think that small but that is actually a HUGE NSV. Every little bit makes a big difference in our journeys. Keep up the excellent progress and CONGRATS!!!
  21. Monday will be 2 weeks post-op. Today I put on my wedding ring for the first time in 8 months. And for the first time in 3 years, my feet aren't sore and swollen. I am down 20 pounds since pre-op which isn't too shabby either. I hope this is the start of the new me!!!

    Month One

I can't believe it's already been a month since my surgery. I've had my ups and downs, but I'm trying to stay positive. My surgery itself was fantastic. It went so smoothly and I was so impressed with my surgeon, the nurses and the hospital. I was very fortunate to have no gas pain, and honestly I felt so much better than I expected to. My weight loss was fantastic in the beginning, but as soon as I hit week three, I hit the notorious week three stall. I have to say that despite having read about it, I wasn't expecting it. I weigh nearly 400 pounds, and I'm losing one pound a week eating 400 calories a day? SERIOUSLY???? Stupid body. lol. Week four I managed to lose two pounds, but still I'm finding it very disappointing, but I'm not exercising (blood clot), so that's part of it. I hit something unexpected and found out I had a blood clot when they went to remove my IVC filter. Crap. I'm self-pay so in addition to being worried about that, I also know this means I'm going to have an additional $20,000 or so of medical expenses. And then I had to call my boss and tell him that I'm going to be out of work for another two weeks. Stress city. I'm not happy. BUT...that's all there is. I can't do anything about things out of my control. I'm trying to stay positive and keep myself busy. In a month or so this will all be a memory and I'll be onto something else. Month One Stats: Surgery Weight: 416 One Month Later: 389 Pounds Lost: 27 NSVs: None yet

    My Journey

As of yesterday, surgeons office couldn't locate my chart/file...today got email from them stating they located my chart. Dr. Dunshee had it and had discussed my case with his partners. We are awaiting dictation, then we will submit to insurance. They''ll let me know next week when they submit it. So here for the past 2 weeks I thought I was waiting to hear from insurance and they haven't even sent it off yet! So...at the rate they're going, it will probably be another 2 weeks or more before I hear anything.....Grrrrrrrr 9/1/12 Ok had my surgery August 24th in the afternoon, came home the next morning, since then I've been trying to follow my diet & exercise plans and keep from killing anyone...LOL. Today I had my first real NSV (for me anyway) I was able to walk to the end of the street & back without any rest breaks (that's a first!) Total of 8 blocks...1 week out of surgery! I know I couldn't have done that before surgery...cause I tried many times!

    January Surgery Bandsters Group

Well here's an NSV for ya. DH just came home and I told him he needs to help me measure for my new bra size as I've shrunk out of my old ones. Now thinking budget conscious and knowing Lane Bryant sale is going on I say I'll go there. He responds, Why don't u take 60.00 and go to Victoria's Secret and buy a bra. I said I've never shopped there before they don't carry my size. He said I bet they do now. I said 60.00 for 1 bra? He just smiled. Did I mention he's a breast man? LOL love this man.
