    NSV!!!

So today I set a goal for myself to walk 10 miles. I left my house at 7 and returned at 10. I did it. I walked the 10 miles. Along the way I discovered something awesome. My thighs don't rub together anymore. For a while they would just be stuck together and my legs would move when I walked. Over the last few months as I've been losing weight they started to rub. Now, both my legs move independently of each other. No more rubbing. The dark chaiffing that I've had for ever is finally starting to fade, too! On another note, I'm noticing the closer I get to my goal the harder it is for me to stay away from crap I know I shouldn't eat. But, I'm going to keep pushing on and take each craving one at a time. I love my sleeve!

    NSV

This week I realized I had 2 NSV. The first one is my 8yr old can hug me (at my thickest belly part) and reach his arms all away around me. No more half hugs here! I almost cried when I realized he can now fully hug me, not just part of me. My 2nd victory is being able to have a regular shower towel wrap around me and cover all my bits. No more need to use a beach towel! I might be at a stall right now, but these NSVs are encouraging me! Sent from my VS995 using BariatricPal mobile app

    My Latest Nsv

I went to the doctor for migraines , but when the nurse was taking my blood pressure, the cuff didn't pinch me! That is up there with crossing my legs and fitting in a restaurant booth!
  4. Just bought my 1st pair of jeans in a regular clothing store. Feels so good to have a pair of jeans that makes my ass look good Also not paying 90$ for fat girl jeans is great. doesn't feel like a potato bag with legs :-) I tried a few pairs that fitted, Almost cried in the changing room. Just this feels good.

    on my way!

Hello from another Michigander!! Here's a link to a post I made last week that pretty much sums up how it's been for me: http://verticalsleevetalk.com/vertical-sleeve-gastrectomy-surgery-vsg-success-stories/9113-best-week-ever-nsv-after-nsv.html I've gone from a tight 20 pants/jeans to a loose 14, gonna shop for 12s tomorrow. I still have 18 lbs to my original goal but think I'm gonna shoot for another 30 so I figure on getting into 10s and maybe 8s. Also on my list of things to look forward to was getting a pair of really slutty-looking shoes LOL...my first 5K is this Saturday and we're going out that night to Celebrate and I'll be wearing those shoes, which my feet can get into because now I just take a Wide instead of an Extra Wide or 2E. WOOO!! Cannot say enough about the sleeve. Who's your surgeon?
  6. You both look fantastic. Love the weeping willow! My NSV for the week: starting Monday, for the first time since my surgery on 3/10, I've been able to keep food down, so I've met my Protein and fluids goals this week! And I've gotten reacquainted with a couple sweaters I haven't been able to wear in a couple years, at least.
  7. @@GibbsGirl you both look so happy, congrats on your success, you look fabulous (and your hair is an awesome color!) My NSV this week was seeing someone I had not seen in a while....she was so surprised by my weight loss, she kept stammering "you look amazing...I mean you look amazing...I mean really, you look really amazing". She sounded so shocked it was funny that she said the same thing at least half a dozen times.

763 day streak.....I guess that is enough

^^^^ What an AWESOME post. Good for you @@Recycled . I agree with you so much about the need to learn what your own body wants / needs / likes. Like you, My Fitness Pal has been an awesome tool for me. I'm not as far out as you -- was sleeved August 2014, but was using MFP 2.5 months prior to surgery. My shrink has urged me for a long time to break the tie to MFP at least occasionally to trust myself to eat instinctually and "normally." Yeah, right, I've said. But I no longer use MFP when I'm traveling for biz or pleasure. And guess what -- I don't gain weight. Some recent NSVs: * I now trust myself to eat anything and everything -- but I no longer overeat. * I just went on a 2.5 week cruise and didn't gain any weight at all. None! * This is the first January of my life when I didn't have a "lose weight" new year's resolution. * I still follow the rules most of the time -- eat Protein, then veggies, fruits, whole grains, drink lots of Water, don't graze, stop eating when I'm satiated (not stuffed), say no to food I don't need or want, take my meds, Vitamins, minerals and supplements daily, do my exercise (walking, stretching, yoga), get good sleep, don't sweat the small stuff. I think WLS is a freakin' miracle! But there sure isn't a finish line.

    My happy little NSV

Woo Hoo! WTG! NSV are sometimes better then the weight loss!
  10. As I said in your other thread, I was also self-pay in the US and borrowed a ton of money from a loved one to do it (I was open to traveling to keep costs down, but the people in my life I rely on for support and advice were resistant. I DO NOT mean they are correct or that the way I did it is the better way. I just mean that in my case it was the simpler way to accomplish this part of my goal). In retrospect I would have borrowed twice as much...we borrow so much to buy houses, if we are able and if we choose to, or cars, or whatever...this is your body and your life, and I totally get funding it any way you can. There is a steep learning curve to every part of this-- to recovery, to living with the sleeve, to helping it help you best. I'm sticking to my surgeon's program but I still make mistakes -- but I keep telling myself there's no mistake I will make twice! Each one has consequences that are too memorable - and I don't mean in a way you should scrapbook - for you to risk repeating. I know I say it in every post but I am so glad I took this step. It is helping me approach so many areas of my life in a more positive and productive way, maybe because it all but forces you to put your healthy self first (or suffer soon after). You'll also find NSVs all over the place, not just the ones you're anticipating now. I could try to list them all but it would take forever

Thanks... I Think? Nsv.... Maybe? Lol.

Well I would take it as a NSV but the guy was obviously a major tard. I've known a few people from Canada though and in their defense we've had many conversations about the size of things here compared to there- particularly fast food sizes so I guess that much is factual. But still he was a jerk. Well if he wants to see a fat person on his tour of US obesity send him my way and I'll happily sit on him...

    Small Victories

I just think we need to address your choice of vocabulary. "Small" NSVs? These sound pretty big to me! Congratulations, and Embrace the Stall!
  13. I guess this could have waited until after my 1st post-op appt... anyway.... I'm feeling great!! A little light headed and weak due to the lack of calories and stuff... I'm only allowed bariatric clears... (Is there something I can have that will help me not feel some "out of it"??).. I easy get in all of my liquids.. (Thank God!!) I'm almost pain free, until I forget that I have staples and that I HAD surgery a week ago... and I try to pick something up off the floor or turn a certain way... I'm still overwhelmed and feeling so blessed by the support I've been receiving from you guys, my family and friends... Although, one of my good friends is MIA... I have a feeling we gonna have to have a 'come to Jesus' meeting really soon... but, it's OK.. she'll be fine!!! I've really been wanting some cream of potato Soup for the last 2 days.. so HOPEFULLY (fingers crossed), I'll be ok to go to full liquids and pureed foods tomorrow!!! I haven't been hungry as normal, but I think that little empty feeling in my middle may be my signal for now.. I'm okay w/ that.. Oh, NSV.... got out of the shower this am, I was able to give myself a little foot massage as I lotioned up!! HA!!! That's huge for me!! As I have left side nerve damage due to some herniated discs in my back, thus lifting my left foot has never been this easy since my injury!!! That made me smile!!! I hope everyone is having a greatly favored and awesomely blessed day!!! Love and Hugs Tina

I'm eating like a normal person

it's a NSV in my opinion
  15. I remember a time I could eat a whole plate of food, finish my daughter's food, and still have room for desert. But since the surgery I take a few bites and I'm done. I used to get frustrated but now I enjoy it because I feel like a normal person that knows their limits. I know that this isn't a NSV but to me it seems like it. Just wanted to share. Oh, and now my daughter finishes my plate...NICE!!!????

    NSV at DMV

Wow! Had to get a new drivers license today and with a the crazy new technology the computer asked for more ID! It didn't recognize me as the same person I was 5 years ago and 105 pounds heavier! Best visit to DMV ever!
  20. CONGRATULATIONS! What a great NSV!

I'm eating like a normal person

It is an NSV! Celebrate!! Went out to eat last night to a BBQ joint. I ordered the sliders appetizer, no buns. When the plate arrived with three "dollops" of meat I thought maybe I should have ordered a side too. Nope, half of it was left on my plate and I was full. Funny thing was when my friend apologized for eating her bun in front of me. It's the second time that has happened. Oddly enough I don't feel deprived like I have in the past so I hadn't even thought about it. Weird how these surgeries work on your brain just a little.

    Saw an Ex-boyfriend Yesterday

  23. great job you will have many more moments in the next few months. getting into jeans without a struggle was one of my first nsv's. keep on doing what you are doing...
  24. Big NSV today. I had to take my daughter shopping at Old Navy…it’s back to school time and she needed school clothes, so since there was a sale there on school clothes, and I had a ton of rewards saved up, I managed to get all of her back-to-school clothes for $2. But that’s not the best part. While we were there, I looked over the women’s clothes. Now, I haven’t shopped in a regular-size store…probably since I was a teenager. So that’s quite a while. I have bought from Old Navy, but only from their plus-size (online only) store. But while I was looking at their clothes, I started thinking hmm…that looks like it might fit. And it DID! I bought a few shirts and a pair of compression capri. All size XL from the regular store (last things I bought for myself from Old Navy were 3x from the plus store). So two active-wear tank tops, one pair of capri and two t-shirts. I can not believe how good it feels to shop in a store and not have to slink to the plus-size section. I don’t CARE that I’m still in an XL…it’s a regular XL instead of 2x, 3x, etc. And it feels good.
