Nsv! I Am Posting This Note From Six Flags!
Smontgomery posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not only did I put on a size 16 pair of shorts that we're too small 3 weeks ago, I'm at Six Flags. AND, I'm not just waiting in my kids, I'm actually riding roller coasters. . It's awesome!!!! -
Went to a party last weekend. Saw some people that haven't seen me in a long time. Everyone was shocked how good I looked. Some were happy for me, some hated. I'm stilll adjusting to my new body. I wore a tight dress for the first time in well over a year. I felt sexy and a tad bit self conscious. My confidence is improving. Yay to NSV's!!!

suchaprettyface good for you, rewarding yourself with a pedicure., you deserve it. Two months post-op, losing 50 lbs down is terrific.. Even looking into a full length mirror is ane great NSV. Things can get pretty rough in your personal life. Then dealing with your new sleeve and stress is very hard. You know how wonderful the sleeve is, i'll keep forward to seeing less of you. keep up the great work chin up too best kathy

I was bulimic 30 years ago & then quit purging but kept binging. Then I really gained. Therapy has helped (and is) helping me with my head issues. You are doing great! Just look at it as doing the best you can everyday & you'll be surprised how fast it goes. Then, enjoy the NSV's (non scale victories). All the best!

Small Goals Make It Seem Achievable...
emily_0192010 replied to jhansen71's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I never set official goals, but I did not look at the long-term either. I suppose my next goal was also the next pound. I celebrated every pound down and I still do! It is most definitely the small victories and our NSV's that make this journey not only possible but enjoyable as well. -
Welcome to Onederland. You'll love it here. Great VIP access to many more NSVs. Congrats!

I LOVE MY SLEEVE! Tonight I completed a 5K in 39 minutes! This is a major accomplishment for me. Before being sleeved it hurt to walk across campus at my school. This evening I ran a good 2.5 miles without walking or stopping AND I was chatting. My pace wasn't anything to brag about, but I DID IT! I have lost 62 pounds and I have quite more to go, but my body is capable of so much more than I ever believed. I registered for two 5Ks and I plan on running the tinkerbell half marathon in January. I can't believe that these events are even possible. Thank you to those who have offered guidance and answered my questions recently. My sleeve and the VST community are awesome. I'm in week two of a stall and that has gotten me down, but HOLY COW I did an awesome job this evening!

Some people may think that small but that is actually a HUGE NSV. Every little bit makes a big difference in our journeys. Keep up the excellent progress and CONGRATS!!!

Monday will be 2 weeks post-op. Today I put on my wedding ring for the first time in 8 months. And for the first time in 3 years, my feet aren't sore and swollen. I am down 20 pounds since pre-op which isn't too shabby either. I hope this is the start of the new me!!!

I can't believe it's already been a month since my surgery. I've had my ups and downs, but I'm trying to stay positive. My surgery itself was fantastic. It went so smoothly and I was so impressed with my surgeon, the nurses and the hospital. I was very fortunate to have no gas pain, and honestly I felt so much better than I expected to. My weight loss was fantastic in the beginning, but as soon as I hit week three, I hit the notorious week three stall. I have to say that despite having read about it, I wasn't expecting it. I weigh nearly 400 pounds, and I'm losing one pound a week eating 400 calories a day? SERIOUSLY???? Stupid body. lol. Week four I managed to lose two pounds, but still I'm finding it very disappointing, but I'm not exercising (blood clot), so that's part of it. I hit something unexpected and found out I had a blood clot when they went to remove my IVC filter. Crap. I'm self-pay so in addition to being worried about that, I also know this means I'm going to have an additional $20,000 or so of medical expenses. And then I had to call my boss and tell him that I'm going to be out of work for another two weeks. Stress city. I'm not happy. BUT...that's all there is. I can't do anything about things out of my control. I'm trying to stay positive and keep myself busy. In a month or so this will all be a memory and I'll be onto something else. Month One Stats: Surgery Weight: 416 One Month Later: 389 Pounds Lost: 27 NSVs: None yet

As of yesterday, surgeons office couldn't locate my chart/file...today got email from them stating they located my chart. Dr. Dunshee had it and had discussed my case with his partners. We are awaiting dictation, then we will submit to insurance. They''ll let me know next week when they submit it. So here for the past 2 weeks I thought I was waiting to hear from insurance and they haven't even sent it off yet! So...at the rate they're going, it will probably be another 2 weeks or more before I hear anything.....Grrrrrrrr 9/1/12 Ok had my surgery August 24th in the afternoon, came home the next morning, since then I've been trying to follow my diet & exercise plans and keep from killing anyone...LOL. Today I had my first real NSV (for me anyway) I was able to walk to the end of the street & back without any rest breaks (that's a first!) Total of 8 blocks...1 week out of surgery! I know I couldn't have done that before surgery...cause I tried many times!

Well here's an NSV for ya. DH just came home and I told him he needs to help me measure for my new bra size as I've shrunk out of my old ones. Now thinking budget conscious and knowing Lane Bryant sale is going on I say I'll go there. He responds, Why don't u take 60.00 and go to Victoria's Secret and buy a bra. I said I've never shopped there before they don't carry my size. He said I bet they do now. I said 60.00 for 1 bra? He just smiled. Did I mention he's a breast man? LOL love this man. Checking in @ 215 = up one lb but not unhappy at all. DH and I celebrated our anniversary and Mothers day/Father's Day in Philadelphia (for 3 days) compliments of our wonderful daughter and son-in-law. Our son, daughter-in-law & grand daughter joined us for dinner one night so we had the whole family together. NSV - I was able to walk a huge amount for those 3 days, using public transportation so I was on my feet a lot. This past Thursday was my 1 year bandiversary and I can promise you, a year ago this was not possible. I am 70 lbs lighter and my life only gets better and better!

Clothes Are Loose But Scale Is Not Moving
pink dahlia replied to Ashleigh Childress's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
you're awesome ! the weight didnt go on us overnight , and i guess it wont be coming off of us overnight either. sigh ..................patience is'nt one of my virtues either but im still happy when the clothes started getting loose, and i had to buy new pants, . then again, and then again, etc. Hold on to those nsv's and dont worry so much about the scale #. Its only a # ! Im no expert, but maybe this will help as far as food goes. My hubbys diabetic so almost everything we eat is diabetic friendly. He usually cooks dinner, i take dinner leftovers for lunch and stick to some thing healthy for breakfast and snacks as much as possible. Occasionly we have a little weight watchers ice cream in the house but thats it as far as junk food. We eat alot of baked fish, chicken, some red meat, ground turkey, and lots of fruit and veggies. any carbs are whole wheat . No white flour , just Diabetic friendly recipies. This has helped alot because whole wheat products "stick" in your stomach longer because they take longer to digest, so you're not hungry much between meals. Try a diabetic cookbook from the library and give it a try ! Hope this helps !
