Woo-Hoo!!! Hit the 50lb loss mark this morning!!!! I am so pumped about hitting that milestone. To top that off - the shorts I just got back into after about 5 years of not being able to squeeze into - are too BIG! I can wear shorts to work and about a month ago I went through my clothes and donated to local women's shelter anything size 20 or larger (depending on how they fit). I have been wearing 18s and some 16s. This morning I tried on a pair of shorts that a month ago seemed too snug and now they seem really loose! I am going home today and trying on the 16s!!!! These are the best NSVs ever!

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor gained 7 pounds! help

Hi, I made rules when I was learning to eat again. One of them was never to go back for seconds. That was what got me in to trouble in the first place. I suggest that you don't go back for seconds - ever. Are you eating slowly? Thoroughly chew your food and take your time. As for craving the bad stuff - well in my case that was never done. I just made the decision not to eat certain foods - bread, chocolate etc. If you must eat, eat fruit - I eat apples and bananas. They are much healthier. Take fruit to work with you. Also, get rid of the bad foods from the house - stick them in the bin. I eat the same food as everyone else here, no special diets or calorie counting. I just use portion control. The most important message is that you are not a failure! It's common to have setbacks, the trick is how you overcome them. See your weight loss in perspective to the rest of your life. It's important that you try to enjoy your weight loss. Have you had any NSVs? I had two operations because the tube between port and band became detached. My second operation resited the port and replaced the tube. -

Good for you! I am writing this poolside as I have my own little NSV...feels good, doesn't it :-) -
I ran a mile without stopping...and I could have gone for longer!!! It felt like it has taken me forever to get to this point. I am really happy because I have never ever been able to run a mile. My heart health has improved dramatically and that is the greatest gift I can give myself. Yahoo!:w00t:

Tonight I decided to kick off my weekend with a good closet clean out (it's such an exciting life I lead :-). My closet has shrunk so much since I started losing weight, all my clothes actually fit into one closet. I decided I would try on everything in there and came to a size 10 dress I ordered on clearance last month. IT ZIPPED all the way up!!!! I couldn't believe it. I am ecstatic! SIZE 10. Full disclosure: it is tight and my bulges show, but it feels comfortable. Also, the size 10 shirt I ordered is still too tight to wear, but I know I'll get there some day. I posted a picture in my album, but I'll have my husband take some full body shots later this weekend once I'm in all my under armor gear.

Congrats SB and Diane on your respective major NSVs! Woohoo! Diane, wow! I can't imagine what you went through having the issues you're having, especially being in a foreign country! I can't really be of much help because I haven't had such issues. I only had one episode where I couldn't get anything down except Water after swelling up from getting stuck. If everything gets better and you stay in Barcelona, maybe you want to look into getting your tubing shortened and "de-kinked" when you get back to the U.S.? You should be able to get your fills out of the band, specifically for cases like this when it's an emergency. I hope now that it's been a few days since this that everything is okay! Sending you well wishes!

That is a great NSV. I noticed everyone in all the stores are more helpful now . . . strange what a difference a few pounds makes.

I just got back from my first flight since surgery on March 4 2013. And not only did I not need a seat belt extender but I prolly had 5 or 6 inches of belt to spare.

Had a great week, down 2#'s the most I've had in a single week in a long time! Yeah! NSV - For the first time in 25 years of being together, I weigh less than my husband! (OK, so it is only a 1/2 pound, but it is less.)

I feel you, it's a wonderful NSV! When I lost my first 125 I went back to Worlds of Fun and road all the coasters I couldn't before.

A Great Week! 4 Biggies Including Weighing Less Than My Husband!
cludgie replied to Queen of Crop's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Ah, that is still my favourite NSV to date, and it takes a while to sink in too, I still think of myself as bigger than my husband even though I am over 35lb less than him now. Enjoy it, it just gets better and better! xx -
Weigh-in last night and this past week I've lost 6 POUNDS!!! Total weight loss 38lbs!!! :scared: About a month ago I said I wanted to lose 13lbs by Mother's Day Weekend and a couple weeks ago I had given up hope because I hadn't lost any weight. Low and behold I've lost 11lbs in 2 weeks and now I am 2lbs away from that goal. I think I am going to make it!!! NSV-I went jogging last night and as I was putting on my fanny pack, it wouldn't fit so I adjusted the straps as much as I could til I finally had to take the extender off. I have never worn that fanny pack without the extender and I don't need it anymore!!! It makes me feel like I'm practically a normal size person. I know it sounds silly, but I am proud!!! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I also lose at a slow rate - maybe a pound a week. But, the scale is moving in the right direction. Hang in there and don't obsess over the number on the scale. Be happy with the NSV's!

I think the funniest NSV I ever had was looking in a mirror at the grocery store, and not realizing that it was me in the mirror! This was, also, the day my daughter looked down an aisle and didn't see me, but I was there! Karen

This isn't my greatest NSV.. but my most recent. Over the weekend my daughter and I were looking at pictures of a wedding that we were both in back in 2005 (maid of honor and flowergirl).. and I was over 300 lbs. My daughter was almost 4 in the pictures and she's almost 10 now.. so she doesn't remember me being that big. She asked a couple questions about it and said she thought I was pretty then.. but thinks I look so much better now. It was really sweet.

I want a pair of nice jeans! I picked up my 2 year old grand daughter and she is 32 lbs and I thought, Wow that's a lot of weight to carry around!!! I can also bend over easier!!! My bra's are getting fastened on the tighter fastener's now!!! Can't wait to see more NSV!!!

A very good reward. I love flowers to pamper myself. Good for you. And congrats on the steering wheel Nsv. -
So this weekend I had to go out and buy new shoes because my feet are now a size smaller and a new jacket. I used to wear a size 3x jacket and now I wear, drum roll please a size xl. As you can imagine I was swimming in my old jacket. Now for another way to go, to date I have lost 102 lbs. 42 lbs since Nov 9th, my surgery date and the rest were lost when I had to do the 6 months of classes and stuff. But thanks to my sleeve this is gone forever and I love it. People at work comment that pretty soon there will be nothing left of me, hee hee. I love how people don't recognize me anymore either. Hubby and I went out to our local bar, which I hung out at before meeting him every weekend for 2 years and no one realized it was me next to him (btw I met him there too). It was kind of mind blowing. One of our friends was pissed at him thinking he brought another chick to the bar and was going to cuss him out, then she heard me talk and realized yup it is his wife, her friend and I'm still there. Her comment was at the time holy cow, how much weight have you lost 100 lbs and my response on that day was nope 99 to be exact, lol. Now one set back from losing all this weight is the hair loss and I'm starting to notice sagging skin. I have really thick and pretty long hair and now it's just coming out by the handfuls, kinda scary. The sagging skin, I'm working out every day but only 10 mins at a time, 3 times a day just so I don't aggravate my back and I'm using resistance bands till I get my elliptical. So we'll see how this plays out.

Yesterday, I went to my yearly Diabetes check-up. I also needed to check my blood pressure because I had stopped taking my blood pressure medicine a month ago. My Blood pressure was (with no medication) 102/75!! And the doctor had to change my status to "NON-DIABETIC"! She said it is a rare treat to change a patient's status for the postive. My diabetes was the main reason I got the band. What a great day!

CONGRATS!!! crossing the legs is a great NSV! I hadn't been able to comfortably cross my legs in years and a few weeks after surgery I was sitting at home talking to my wife and she just stopped talking and stared at me. I asked her what happened and she pointed at my legs. I had casually crossed them while we spoke without noticing. It was wonderful!!! A similar one is bending over to pick something up without any problem. These type of NSVs are really powerful and make you feel like you are taking your life back. Keep on enjoying them!

tutornmom replied to MistyD65's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi all, Down a couple of pounds this week finally! I have 9 pounds to meet my 7/4/09 goal. It is going to be hard but I will probably get a fill on the 16th so that will help! NSV - I saw a bunch of family yesterday that I haven't seen in a while and they all noticed! YEAH! Also, I ran 4 miles in under an hour this morning and it is getting easier. The Rocket City Marathon is in sight!
