    One week-Post op- HELP!

Why no protein the first week - that is why you are dizzy, that is complete fasting????? There are clear protein drinks. Mix protein powder in the yogurts to get some extra in your system. Get your vitamins in too.
  2. I really like yogurt, and shopped the baby food aisle. Lots of variety there.

    One week post OP- HELP

A LOT of people, (myself included,) have lactose intolerance issues post-op. Try chicken or beef broth instead of the yogurt shake. Also, try puréed meat and tomatoes. If you purée it REALLY well, it's really good and much easier on your healing tummy than so many shakes.
  4. Hi everyone, I'm one week post op from the sleeve surgery and I feel awful! My first stage post-op was one week clear liquids only.... No protein, no vitamins, nothing! Just clear liquids. Needless to say I've been miserable since I got home. I'm lightheaded, dizzy, lethargic, irritable, etc. (my poor husband). Today I started stage 2 which is full liquids. I had 2 protein shakes, a yogurt shake and of course water. I was hoping I would feel better now that I'm getting nutrients again, but I still feel the same. To top it all off, I've had terrible diarrhea since I got home. I mean crampingly bad. My a** is legit sore from it. PLEASE tell me this gets better? I'm about to spiral out into a serious depression.

  6. I had some head hunger early on. I think it was just because I was watching my dh eat and I was only allowed clear fluids. Now that I am able to have shakes and yogurt it hasn't happened again.
  7. Yeah I'm limited to shakes, clear broth, sugar free jello and Greek yogurt.

    Yogurts?

I eat okios triple 000 Greek yogurt very good and filling and they have pretty good flavors
  9. You will be fine! You either want this or you don't! I am assuming you do! You have made it to this point! DON'T STOP!!!! okay, I am 11 weeks out.....I made it and I LOVE FOOD! LOVE LOVE FOOD!!! BUT! I LOVE ME MORE! The liquids SUCK! yes. I found that if I really need something to eat during my 2 wk liquid I looked up protein shakes, made ice cream.. FROZEN YOGURT with fruit, frozen sugar free pudding pops. SEARCH THE INTERNET. If it is liquid and you can freeze it YOU GOT THIS! GOOD LUCK..SEE YOU ON THE LOSERS BENCH!!! Kell
  10. I'm on day 8 of my liquid diet. I'm down 11 lbs. every day is a struggle. I don't even want to eat bad food, I just want to chew something. The worst part of his is I have a texture issue and can't even force myself to eat the sugar free jello or yogurt because it makes me gag. I also don't like coffee. Anyone have any tips for the next week? P.S. I'm refusing to leave my house for the Memorial Day BBQ's because that'll put me right over the edge! Thanks in advance. You guys are always so great!

    DEPRESSED AND DISCOURAGED

Give up the granola, and probably the yogurt and have dense protein or a protein shake in the morning. Give up the fruit until you have lost your weight. Fruit is still sugar, even if it is natural and comes with some fiber. Granola is a starch if it has oats in it. The granola and fruit is probably slowing your weight loss, give it up for 2 weeks and see what happens.

    Yogurts?

I am a fan of the triple zero and ate a lot of it in my early days. Right now I'm kind of off of yogurt because I ate so much in the first couple months. Also I second Fairlife Milk. I drink a glass every morning and I will have the low-fat chocolate when I want a treat because it's protein packed.
  14. I do think every surgeon has their own plan and most of the time there are slight differences. My plan had me on clear liquids only the first week while many are allowed protein shakes and yogurt. I have even seen that some docs go to purée on day 2 post-op.

    Nutrition

For my team, 3 weeks post op was purees. So I was on 60-90 grams of protein a day made up of: Protein Shakes Pureed meats Scrambled Eggs Yogurt Ricotta Cheese Tuna or chicken salad Mashed black beans or other beans Hummus My only goals at that point were eating my 60-90 grams of protein and getting in 64 ounces of water daily. I was allowed anything less than 5 grams of sugar a serving. Sugar free jello or pudding and popsicles. I could barely eat half a scrambled egg in one sitting at three weeks
  16. Jay..you sound like you are being too hard on yourself. Fruit, yogurt, nuts.. sounds like wholesome food maybe the gallbladder has been holding you back. I'm actually curious whether high, moderate, or low fat is beneficial for the gallbladder. So many people that lose weight have problems, but I wonder whether it's the low fat diets that people frequently use that create problems, or whether dietary fat intake has no bearing and that it is some other mechanism at work...
  17. Well I'm through all the pre-cert stuff. Had my Pysch eval - guess I'm not crazy and Nutritional eval. Took about a week for my insurance to approve. Over all from first call to office took about a month to get the that point. Then had my consult with the doc and surgery date is July 12th. Have a pre surgery thing on June 12th that includes upper GI - Labs and Pre surgery class. I have to do a two week liquid diet (which include cottage cheese and yogurt - seems weird) before surgery with the day before being all clear liquids plus that lovely magnesium stuff the night before too. yuck. So glad things are flowing along. Still nervous and working on new life habits. The whole drinking things I'm find the hardest. Just never had to THINK about not drinking. ugh... Any Hoo - Just posting the progress. Oh - does anyone know how to change stuff in our profiles? Can't figure it out for nothing. Thanks again GrInS
  18. I like the taste, but as we know it is very individual. Week 3 I can have fruit and I plan on taking one of theses shakes, some frozen strawberries, and vanilla yogurt and throwing it in my Ninja for a delicious protein shake/ smoothie 😊
  19. Trust your tummy, but, especially if you are exercising heavily, try to get some more protein in - even if its throwing in a shake. Last night I was at my fencing club for 2 hours and burned about 1,000 calories. I had consumed about 600 calories before going during the course of the day and ate a protein bar as I drove home to boost things. Today I will concentrate more on protein as well. Had a nice shake for breakfast and will have some yogurt pretty soon!
  20. My diet has been **** to be honest. I'm not a big meat eater and I have to force myself to eat meat for protein. I've recently gotten over my aversion to protein shakes, so I've incorporated those back into my diet, as well as protein bars. But I do eat a lot almonds, fruit, eggs, Greek yogurt. Eating protein first has been very, very difficult for me. I've lost about 37 pounds since December and while I'm happy about it, my surgeon and I agree that i should have lost more by now. However I went in with a lower BMI and I'm at 174 right now. He doesn't think I should go lower than 160-155. I was approved for surgery because of very high triglycerides for years, documented diets that did not work for years, and a family history that has been dying by 50 of a heart attack. So happy with my decision to get the surgery, but I'm to blame for not sticking with the right nutrition.
  21. I'm pretty sure it went down. I'm having issues with the stuck in the throat feeling. Before I was hungry in the mornings, but today I am not. I am wondering if maybe it just didn't digest very well, or at all. Sitting in my little stomach. So I'm drinking just water right now. I am sticking to just water and protein shakes, drinkable yogurt today.
  22. Well good morning ya'll. I feel gross. I thought maybe 8 hours of sleep would make me feel way better after the bean episode last night. Nope. I'm feeling like I've got them stuck in my throat still. I'm going to hold off on them for a bit, along with anything else in its consistency. I've got my drinkable yogurts now. I'll add creamy soups too; no chunks. Even though my plan allows for so much now, I think it much wiser to listen to my body. It's not ready.
  23. Lol wish I would of asked! I struggled just trying shakes and yogurt and I broke today! My poor hubby! I yelled at him to get outta my way until I get some dang food!! Then I went online and searched and found some awesome soup recipes for stage 2 in pin interest... I made some nice creamed spinach soup and now me and hubby are both happy again. [emoji4]
  24. Yes the yogurt is pretty good and it seemed to agree with my tummy also. Just don't try to add any powered protein to it ...lol
  25. Sooo I did have a drinkable yogurt. I turned around and my four year old has a yogurt mustache. She looks at me and smiles real big. I can't get mad...she's so cute!! Lol
