Accused Of Husband Stealing
Pennie replied to sleepeone's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That is hilarious!!! That guy had to be so embarassed, but I think it's so sweet that he was "sticking up" for you when he thought your husband with with a younger woman. This is one of the best NSVs I've read in ages! Thanks for sharing! -

NSV shout outs
Iwant2Bthatgirl replied to BobBayCityMI's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks for posting these NSVs -- they are encouraging and so fun to read. I had my first NSV last week. I was about 2 weeks out from my surgery and realized that I needed to tighten my CPAP straps because they were too big!! Hooray! I hope that no longer needing the CPAP will be on of my NSVs down the road. -
Going back to work this morning so I start getting dressed and damned pants fell off! Holy cow! Guess its time to go buy new work pants. Thank god for a good belt. I look like MC Hammer but oh well. Lol

Thanks for sharing, such a great NSV.

Acronyms - Lets Make A List...
Wheetsin replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
For WLS AGB = adjustable gastric band (like the lap-band, but not brand name) RNY = Roux en Y BMI = Body mass index BMR = Basal metabolic rate PPI = proton pump inhibitor PB = productive burp (I know it's a band thing, and a horribly misleading name, but it has come up in the revisions forum) NSAID = Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory Not an abbreviation (lots of these aren't) but sliming - excessive saliva production Like above, foaming/foamies - saliva that has been "churned" in the esophagus and comes in looking like soap foam or shampoo lather NSV - non-scale victory, a general well being victory that does not involve your weight (clothing fitting looser, a nice compliment, walking X stairs without getting winded, etc.) I'll think of more later, I know there's a bunch. More just conversational... The family ones - DD, DA, DH, MIL, FIL, SIL... where does it end? Second cousin twice removed? SCTR? Bah. HTH = hope this helps IIRC = if I remember correctly AFAIK = as far as I know IMO/IME = in my opinion/in my experience IMHO/IMHE = in my humble opinion/in my humble experience -

Would I Be A Success If I Stopped Losing Today?
AliveAgain replied to Pookeyism's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
YES! You are a success right now, today, in this moment! I absolutely could not agree with you more. Sure, I have that ticker to show my progress with my "goal" weight at the right end. But I'm with you, when it's just me and my skin and being comfortable within it -- I'm a success, too. I get more jollies out of daily NSV's than I do with numbers on a scale. BMI charts are overrated and something for doctor's to cling to when they want to encourage more healthy behaviors in their patients. To this day, I remember sitting in my doctor's office when I was about 26 years old and he told me I was "overweight" and needed to lose about 10lbs. This was at a time in my life when I was riding my bike 20-30 miles per day, 4-5 days per week. Running, kaying, hiking every weekend and wearing a size 4/6. I was 138lbs and he told me I was "overweight." I felt the best I'd ever felt in my life and this man was telling me I could "do better." Love the new profile pic! -

Congrats to everyone's accomplishments!: ) Sent from my Nexus S 4G using RNYTalk -
What Have I Done To Myself?
MinaT replied to aldmb2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
tinfoil, how about just hug yourself. The sleeve is merely a tool, it did not do this, you did! There are those that have a sleeve that find ways to bug the system, and don't lose. Be proud of your accomplishments. I don't think of the sleeve as the hero in the story, I think of myself as the hero. It's a wonderful feeling to be happy, and have those nsv's!! Good for you. -

Capt Derel's Gastric Sleeve Surgery Journey
Capt Derel replied to Capt Derel's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Today is June 27th, 2012. I am at 237lbs even. LoL isnt the sleeve great. No problems yet other than the 3 gallbladder attacks. I have come to realize that they were triggered by fat consumption. I noted each time it happened and the days leading up to the attacks were considered fat loading days. 36 grams per day in a 4 consecutive stretch. As long as I stay below the 20 gram/day range I have no problems to note. Also note higher sodium levels accordingly. But flipside I feel great. I hit a NSV this morning. I am in a size 36 in Jnco pants which run small hence why they are still brand new since I0 years ago. So I am really in a size 34. I didnt realize cause all I have been doing is punching new holes in my belts. But I am down from a 3xl to an XL. I am getting hit on alot. But I love my wife most of the time. But on a side note my wife rewarded me for losing so much. She was so supportive of me purchasing my new midlife change toy cause it gives her even more incentive to lose on her own preop. Gotta love her -
I tried a bath for the first time in YEARS last week. I'm still displacing a lot of water, but I did manage to get in the tub with more than just a few teaspoons of water sharing the tub with me. LOL GREAT NSV! I can't wait to join you on this one. I love baths and have been relegated to the shower for all of my adult life (unless in a hot tub.....bliss!).
-
That's a great NSV. Congratulations!
-
That has to feel extremely good. Certainly a great NSV right there! Congratulations!
-
So I am getting in the tub...and I noticed THAT I DIDN'T FLOOD THE BATHROOM FLOOR. Usually when I get in it is like I parted the Red Sea...But not today folks!
-
Yeah, I actually had a little "time of intense fellowship"with wifey last week, over .... You guessed it ;Gym time! That alone is a NSV for me!

well for me at least. Today, one of my consumers (I work with disabled persons) asked me if she could pick up pizza for lunch. Pizza (and for some strange reason strawberry milk) have been my more severe cravings! I reluctantly agreed. When she brought the pizza in the car it smelled sooo good. I realized then that the pizza does not need to be eaten to be enjoyed... hello I have other senses! I decided to enjoy the smell of pizza and honestly, it worked! I didnt feel the need to eat it. I guess this would be consider an NSV. Just wanted to share, I guess. Hope you are all doing great!

First Non-Scale Victories Pre-Surgery!
Webchickadee replied to Pre-OpLoser619's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah! Yes, I always look (and hope!) for a chair that has no arms. Often I'm disappointed though because there is no such choice. I choose to stand rather than try to "smush" myself into those chairs. I haven't been in a situation where I've needed to try out such a chair recently though. I'm down about 37 lbs, so who knows, maybe I too have this great NSV waiting for me to experience soon! -
Did Not Recognise Myself - Mindblowing Nsv
Pookeyism posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I took this picture about a week ago, and forgot about it as I was immediately distracted. I was looking through my phone and I did not recognize myself...this is kinda freaking me out...I have went from "I can't be that big" to "There is something wrong, it's elongated"...but its not. Its me... : ' ) -
Whoop Whoop! I can't wait for that NSV after years of squeezing into seats with metal jabbing me everywhere. Isn't it funny how bathroom stalls seem to be bigger now?!

I just want to take a minute and say how abso-freakin'-lutely AWESOME it is to see the updated pics that are starting to get posted, and profile pics that are changing with the 9-6 month crowd (kinda what I lump myself in at the moment) - We are changing so much! I want us all to be very prowd of ourselves, and feel really good! yay! Yay for US! For those coming our way, you will see this too! You will have this NSV too! Hugs to all in a really feel-good moment I had to share!
