    So crazy

CONGRATS on that NSV Jacob!!!! That is wonderful!!! I can't wait to have that same feeling of not being able to eat a small amount!! But eggs with chili???? LOL
  3. I hit this particular NSV about a month ago, and I agree it was fabulous! My most exciting NSV yet!
  4. Hubs and I and another couple went to dinner last Saturday night. I always dreaded being seated in a booth bc i was always snug or my belly touched the table. As I gained more weight I found it hard to hold my head over the table when I ate bc my tummy was holding me back. Well we got seated in a booth Saturday. I cringed at first and thought... No I got this. We then started to eat... I looked down... My tummy was not touching the table and I had extra room! I was so excited. Just had to share.
  5. This is my favorite NSV too! I still have to remind myself to NOT say, "table, not booth," when being seated at a restaurant. Congratulations!
  6. That's a huge NSV! I had the same problem pre sleeve. Also, yesterday I noticed I don't have to tilt my booty over to put my seatbelt on anymore! Haha!
  7. Congratulations! This was one of my favorite NSVs! Everytime I get in an airplane seat I am reminded of what it was like to ask for that damned extender. Now, I strap that belt on and I have nearly a foot of extra! Speaking of which, I have a flight to catch tomorrow morning. Going home from Minneapolis after having my 12 month check up post surgery!

NSV: Hit the Spa, fully NUDE

Woohoo! That is an awesome NSV. I've always gone nude for massages, but I have never been comfortable being totally nude in the women's area. Even now, while I no longer hide in the bathroom to change into the robe and I can strip in the locker room area, I haven't quite worked up the nerve to walk around totally without clothing. I feel a little awkward because I tend to look at the other women and I swear half of them are perfect- no cellulite, no sagging, no plastic surgery scars, and I think...yikes. In reality though, I have never once thought a negative thing about any of them, no matter what their size or appearance- it just wasn't anything that crossed my mind as even noticing, so I can see how I should be a lot more comfortable than I am. Again though, good for you, I love this NSV!

NSV: Hit the Spa, fully NUDE

I had never gone to a spa until about one week before my sleeve surgery, a little over 2 1/2 years ago. My friend and I were on a girls weekend in Vegas and she wanted to treat me to a massage. I was absolutely against it. Embarrassed and ashamed of my body. She told me it would be one of the best pleasures I would ever know. "Besides," she said, "nobody knows you, they will never see you again." So, reluctantly, I agreed. When we first arrived and they took us into the back to change, they told me I could go full nude if I wanted to, but--at the most--I had to strip down to my underwear and bra. I think I turned beet red. As they gave us a tour of the facility and its amenities, so many women were in the nude! Sitting in the sauna, steam room and hot tubs. Ugh! The movies were not so far off. I was so uncomfortable and I felt like I did not belong. I was surrounded by women who were comfortable in their bodies. I was not. But alas, there I was, so I stripped down to my underwear and bra, put on my robe, wrapped it around me and held onto it for dear life. I was offered some wine...which I gladly accepted to calm my nerves, and when I was called back into my massage room to meet my masseuse, I was MORTIFIED! The masseuse was a GUY, and I wanted to die. He told me he was going to step out of the room and allow me to take off my robe and get onto the massage table, under the sheets. When he shut the door, I seriously contemplated leaving. However, my friends words echoed in my head: I would never see this person again. I did as I was told and got under the sheets (and trust me when I say that I wrapped them tight, like a human burrito). He came in and talked to me in a very soothing voice. However, he noticed that I was fidgety and avoiding eye contact. He asked me if I was nervous. I admitted that I was, and I even confessed that it was my first time and that I was very insecure about my weight. He graciously told me, "Sweetie, every woman is beautiful. No matter her shape or size. This is going to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience, and I do not want you ruining it with such nonsense." Oh my goodness! What a wonderful and beautiful thing to say. I loved him from that moment on. My nerves and reluctance melted away and I REALLY enjoyed the experience! My-oh-my, that 80 minutes felt like 20 minutes! I wished it lasted longer (actually, I think he added on an extra 10 minutes; tipped him big too!). So, here I am. 30 months post-op. Learned to work my sleeve, eat right, religiously spending 8-10 hours in the gym a week, lost all of my excess weight, completed plastics, and loving my body. So, the girls and I had a spa day over the holidays and I decided to go fully nude in the hot tub, in the steam room and on the massage table. I wasn't uncomfortable. Totally owned it. I even had one of the girls who joined us (mind you, she is 10 years younger than me) say, "Jeez...what I would do for your body." [Mind you, yes I had the sleeve. Yes, I had plastics; but, I work my butt off in the gym lifting weights and sticking to an eating regime that is healthy 90-95% of the time. Some people love to say that I cheated to get this body, but I say all the sleeve did was give me QUANTITY control. The sleeve does not control QUALITY and it does not dictate my fitness. After 4 kids, major weight gain, rapid weight loss, there was no way that my skin was going to put itself back together. I am not ashamed of my plastics and praise my doctor for helping complete my weight loss journey.] Okay, mini rant over. So, anyway, I felt AWESOME. I have never, EVER, had the confidence that I do now. And my ability to confidently lounge around in the nude was my biggest NSV yet. For the first time I realized I was just like those women in that Vegas spa.

    Non-Scale Victory

NSVs are the best! (well other than the scale moving downward )
  11. Sounds good to me Bob! I'd take that any day. So Congrats ! On that NSV.
  12. So I've been a little frustrated with the scale. It's moving pretty slow, and I get discouraged seeing others dropping BMI on here, even though I know that BMI is a crappy measure of fitness/health. So, it felt pretty good to put on the old size 36 jeans from my closet that I last wore in 2005. I know that they are Old Navy size 36, so that's probably not a "real" 36, but I was size 42 Old Navy back in November, so 3 sizes is 3 sizes. It's fun to go fishing into the back of my closet for old clothes that I had sad goodbye to for so long. Long term goal is to be able to grab any size 34 off the rack and know that it will fit. Hopefully a few months more. I'm not loving the muffin-top that I see in some shirts, but I have to remember that it used to be a big SUV tire not a off-road bike tire around my waist. BTW, this is what an NSV means: non-scale victory...it took me almost 3 months on the board to learn what that acronym meant. Best of luck to you all in our losing process.

    NSV and long time goal

I water skied!!! It had been 10 years since I’ve gotten up on skis; I made an attempt 3 months ago with no avail. Then yesterday I got up on double skis on my second try and again on the next try. I think I skied for a total of 300 ft. but it felt like a mile. I still can’t believe I did it.

    Bestest Nsv Ever!!!!

Is bestest a word? Oh well. Lately, I haven't been losing a lot of weight, but my body is changing so dramatically. I tried on and fit into a size 16 pair of jeans...down from a 28...a tight 28... Unbelievable. But I experienced my favorite NSV to date today. I was at a local preschool to sign up my daughter for next September, and I saw my sister's friend. We've known each other for over 4 years and see each other at least 6 times a year. Well, I saw her driving away and I waved to her and she waved back, but had that look of "who the hell was that" on her face. She had no idea who I was. It's funny because I saw her two weeks ago at my niece's school play and she looked through me that night as well..but I just chalked it up to looking for a seat and dealing with her son... But today, there was no reason to not know me. I am a very recognizable person because I am 6ft tall. I used to say I was recognizable because I was 6ft tall and fat....but not any more... BESTEST NSV EVER!!! Rainer

    whats a NSV

    If this isn't motivation...

Congratulations, Jenn! NSV's like that are awesome! I was banded five months ago, and have already cleared out my closet twice. I figure I'm never going to be this size again, so if it's too big, out it goes! The best part is having to replace the replacement clothes I bought after the first go-round. When my old clothes started falling off, I replaced things with new stuff that fit right at the time. And now THAT stuff is too big, so is being replaced again. It's a great feeling. People complain about the cost of clothes, but I figure I'm saving SO much by not eating like I used to, I can use that food money toward new clothes. It's a small price to pay, and I look good while I'm losing weight. One dinner out in the old days is equal to a new pair of pants or a dress shirt now. No more Omar the Tent Maker clothes for me. Amusement parks

So, My first NSV was getting in a ride @ Knott's... I was so nervous about potentially doing the "dreaded walk of shame". I got on, down came the bar...Whew! it went down....VICTORY! I rode that & had a blast with my family! I have lost 87 lbs so far, & am between an 18 -22 in clothes(depending on the cut/style, etc) After I got off the ride I noticed that there was a sign that said that if you recently had surgery, then you should not get on these rides. I had surgery in Jan.2007, I feel that I am healed, but didnt even THINK about anything happeneing to my band, my hubby said that it should be healed by now, but I would like your imput. I havent talked to my Dr. yet. I feel fine, just I am always a worry wart... :biggrin1:

    Happy About Some Nsvs Today...

Awesome NSVs. I love reading them, so keep 'me coming... Sent from my iPad using VST
  21. I'm on a business trip - the 2nd one I've taken since surgery and losing almost 67 lbs. - When I went to pack my suitcase I found that the majority of my suits no longer fit; fortunately I had two that fit nicely - looser than I ever remember being able to wear them. One of them has always been my favorite. - Wore a favorite suit today that, as best I can remember, I have not worn in 8+ years. Felt great just walking around in it and when I looked at myself in the mirror from the side I saw nice curves - instead of bulges - Before I left I realized it was time to buy new underwear - two sizes smaller - let alone a new smaller slip too. Both fit nicely, thank you very much - went out to eat and my napkin did not fall off my lap! Seriously this is huge to me. I've got to believe others can relate to this. Before I would go through numerous napkins when going out to eat. It was especially embarassing when with a group. My napkin would fall off my lap very shortly after placing it there; then I couldn't reach down to pick it up. So I'd ask for another or take an extra from the table only to have the same thing happen again. Of course, no one ever said anything and I tried to act like nothing was wrong but this really bothered me. I guess I finally have a lap again - am enjoying compliments from many people who I haven't seen in a month or so and who can't get over how much weight I've lost - it's just so great to be able to sit on the plane and not use an extender belt. I even bought my own years ago since I was always embarrassed to ask for one. - caught myself just naturally crossing my legs the other night; whoa didn't even know I could do that again I hope you guys don't mind me sharing these with you. I always enjoy reading everyone else's and 'm looking forward to lots more to come. Susie
  22. I rarely weighed myself that early on, but I dug up some of my old posts and found these stats... 1 week...up 5 pounds 7 weeks....down 17 pounds 10 weeks......still stalled at 17 pounds After that I lost fairly steady and only had a few 2-3 week stalls along the way. But as you can see if you fast forward, my slow start does not reflect my overall success..... Down 78 pounds (surgeons goal) at 6 1/2 months Down 88 pounds (personal goal) at 7 1/2 months Currently down 97 pounds at 9 months Just keep on your plan and remember you are in this for the long haul and the numbers on the scale really aren't that important. As for my scale, I don't even own one. I weigh myself once a week on the dog scale at work so I have something to post on here. I weigh fully clothed, with shoes or boots, sometimes in the morning, sometimes after lunch. The accuracy really doesn't matter to me because I measure my success by how I feel, how my clothes fit and NSVs. Good luck!
  23. A very good reward. I love flowers to pamper myself. Good for you. And congrats on the steering wheel Nsv.
  24. I used to have difficult veins to find for blood draws. Now my doc didn't even have to do the pressy pressy thing, he could see the vein right through the skin. Skinny arms FTW
