Don't worry after the 3 week stall you will start to loose fast again. The stalls are just part of the process, you get worried you are doing some thing wrong or the surgery stopped working. The stalls are the way your body looses weight, you are putting your body through a big change.
  2. You've done excellent congratulations on your sucess. You have the same starting weight as me. I'm so happy for you. What size are you wearing now? Are you exercising?
  3. Mine was 6 months, I had 6 months medically supervised weight loss, but my pcp was able to post-date the info from previous appointments. My BMI was 40, so I maintained for 6 months. I had a consultation with the surgeon at the beginning of June, had my surgery December 9th. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  4. I have been reading everyone's comments for over a month in preparation for having the lap-band® surgery.. i still cannot determine if this is the best option for weight loss. don't get me wrong. i am doing it. and i am determined to do my best. but i keep reading mixed reviews about it..now i know we are all different. I fully understand it is how you use this tool.. because that is what it is. a tool. and not a way out. but how come it just doesn't work for some people? i don't understand. i can't see how. it constricts your stomach to make you feel full.. which i am finding out may not happen until 4+ weeks later!!!.. but if you are consuming less calories than burning.. isn't it inevitable that you will lose??? so to me... maybe people aren't reading nutrition facts like they should? or they are not active at all.. it doesn't make sense to me. the whole taking 4 weeks for a fill.. ok i can see why.. you need time for your stomach to heal.. but 4 weeks!! it really only takes 2 weeks to get used to eating different.. atleast in my case. so why the need for lap-band® then? i guess i am just a little frustrated... i really want this to be a success.. and i feel it is up to the person carrying the lap-bans that makes thats determination. is it just me???
  5. I had surgery in 2006 and lost 280 pounds over all over the course of six years… In the past three years I gained back 90 pounds… Last year I had an endoscopy and upper G.I. and they discovered I had a hiatal hernia and some staple adhesions… And recommended a revision… The surgeon I went to told me that he could leave the new smaller stomach and they now remove the excess old stomach… They no longer leave your stomach in there or he doesn't… And doing my research I understood a revision patient usually loses 2 to 3 pounds a month… My doctor said when he got in there… He found a fistula which was a complication from the first surgery which most likely cause my weight gain… A week after surgery… Today I got on the scale and I lost 13 pounds… Was totally shocked and not expecting that so I am wondering since I had that fistula this new revision is kickstarting my weight loss and I will see great success question? Anyone that had a revision care to share their weight-loss story with me after the revision Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Fatigue 6 weeks post op

Thank you to everyone for your advice and experience. I know it's different for everyone. I wanted to provide you all with an update. I just came from my six-week doctors appointment and I asked all these questions to them. They stated that the fatigue is completely normal. That our bodies are just getting used to the new sleeve and weight adjustment and it should subside within the next six weeks. The caloric intake I'm taking in is normal as well. They stated my three meals a day of 2 to 3 ounces with two Snacks with your Protein shakes, are perfect. I wanted to give you all that update for anyone who is going through what I am going through now. If anyone's doctors have said anything contrary to this, please let me know. I'm always open to hearing other opinions. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. If you’re anything like me, you wouldn’t consider exercising your favorite pastime. In fact, some people downright hate exercising. However, exercising is a crucial part of a healthy lifestyle, and without it you definitely will not be able to lose weight. There are certain tips, however, for learning to love exercising, even if you truly hate it. First, try finding some exercises that you like to do. Of course, you should work out all of your body, but if you absolutely hate doing one kind of exercise, then look for another to take its place. You don’t have to do crunches to strengthen your core muscles. You don’t have to do lunges to work out your lower body. You don’t even have to run—you can replace it with cycling or swimming. Find the exercise you like to do and your workout will seem more enjoyable right away. You can also find other activities you like to do and make them work for your body. For example, if you like working on your garden, try doing some exercising surrounding raking or mow your yard by hand. If you enjoy the winter weather, you can try ice skating or sledding with friends. No matter what you like to do, you can find ways to get some exercise. Thanks to the introduction of the Wii and game like Dance Dance Revolution, you can even combine video games and exercise. Another great tip to liking exercise is to find a training partner. When you work out together, you can help one another stay motivated, even if you don’t absolutely love exercising. With a partner, you can have fun as well, trying things like tennis or challenging one another to meet certain goals. Trainers can also provide this for you, as well as show you new and fun exercises to help you avoid getting bored or feeling overwhelmed at the gym. Lastly, try taking some classes. Exercising classes are a great way to meet new people, learn new exercises, stay motivated, and above all, have fun. Most gyms offer low-cost or free exercise classes with membership or you can check out options at your local community center. Staying motivated if you hate exercising can be hard, but set goals and don’t quit. You need to exercise as well as diet if you really want to lose weight. Make exercise fun and it won’t seem like such a chore.

    Jealous

I have a co worker who happens to be a dear friend to. When I finally told her I was going to have this surgery, she just keeped telling me about how her sister had RNY 12 years ago and gained back weight. Well maybe she gained 20 or so lbs back, but not close to what she ever weighed at het highest. I can tell just from listening to her it sounds like jealousy. With me she says she was happy and supports me, but has never mentioned anything to me yet. And I am down 55#! Everyone else I know has said something positive. I hate that some people just can't be happy for you. She is over weight also, so why doesn't she chose to do something about it instead of being unhappy all the time. I just don't get it:)
  9. It's weird that I am overjoyed to be over-weight, but today I found out that I have lost 33 pounds and my BMI fell into the overweight range. No longer obese! The sleeve has helped me beyond words. Looking so forward to being a normal weight! Yay!

    Does anyone measure food?

Myndoc made it clear that I WILL gain back some weight between surgery and finding the 'sweet spot.' Between the swelling going down and not feeling quit as full, I will begin to change portion sizes. This is where the scale commes in, to keep portions consistant. Don't beat youeself up if you gain a couple of pounds. It will come off!
  11. Well had my physical today and passed. I am healthy just over weight by 75 pounds. I am so nervous, I am having the sleeve and was concerned about going under because my BP runs low 100/46 today, that is a normal for me or it runs 90/42, no dr has said anything about it being low so guess I'm good. My dr wanted me to have the sleeve before I have health issues, I think it's a good idea, I have tried dieting, weight watchers, the military diet and I couldn't get the weight to come off, always so discouraging. Breathes deeply so nervous.

    tell us about yourself

Hey everyone, my name is Tiffany. I'm 32 years old, married to the greatest husband in the world, John (27), and mother to the most amazing son in the universe, Caysen (11). My husband is active duty Air Force, and we are currently stationed in the NW panhandle of Florida near Pensacola. We've been together for over 3 years, and were married in Feb 2008. I'm a licensed insurance agent, and have been in the insurance industry since 2002. I just recently resigned my position with a small agency due to the extended recovery time I am dealing with, and wanting to spend time with my family. My husband is currently deployed to Afghanistan, and is due home at the end of September. I love to write poetry, fish, go to the beach, and just about do anything with my family. John and I have a date night once a week, and are enjoying our life on the beach. John is going to adopt Caysen, and we will try for another baby next year. I'm excited about what sleeve life has to offer. I'm doing great with the weight loss. I'm seeing changes, and my clothes are definitely too big at this point. It's exciting, but I'm also looking forward to moving to regular food with some consistency.

    Before Weight Loss Program Picture

    From the album: Pre-Surgery Album

This was from before I lost the 42 pounds
  15. Okay, so I am 4.5 weeks out and after dropping 43 pounds (including the liquid diet) I am in the dreaded stall. It is evil, completely evil, and even though I know it is basic math (calories eaten-calories expended will eventually lead to weight loss) I can't help feeling frustrated. I have banned the scales, read all the stall posts, but need to vent. I upped my exercise this week, tried to up my food a little (600 calories). So please post encouragement and tips, dear fellow sleevers!
  16. Anyone have any suggestions on how to keep the weight off after a fill... It seems that the weight goes down right after a fill and while on liquids for three days and then as soon as you go back on regular food... the weight starts inching back up... The first week after the fill always give me a good 5 to 8 pound drop... My last fill was my third and I had great restriction, even fluids were a little rough... It has loosened up a little but still full after about 1 cup of food... And once again, the scale is creeping up again.
  17. I had mine on 1/18/16, lost 20lbs in the first 10 days, then gained back 6 and have stalled. I'm encouraged that at least I'm not the only one who has stalled, but the weight gain is what has me worried. Guess we'll have to have patience and wait it out, which is always fun...

    New Girl

Welcome to LBT. Congratulations on the weight loss so far. I'm a bit concerned about your saying you were feeling like you weren't getting enough nutrition earlier but glad you are taking steps to correct any deficiencies. We aren't medical experts but we are all on the same journey and are more than welcome to give our opinions.

    My journey

This will be about my journey loosing weight after having the lap band. I had it on Feb. 17th 2009. I weigh 244 and I want to get to 150. I am nervous about the whole process. I eat so much and I love food. How will I do? How do I train my brain that enough is enough? I am very sore so far and I am also hungry. I don't get my first fill for 6 weeks. I stay on a liquid diet for 2 weeks. I am hungry! lol I am sticking with it though and doing what I should.

Hi I stumbled across this forum whilst doing a search about regurgitation and coughing! I have been looking for just this type of place in vain for a while. THe post op care I get here in France is pretty minimal and I have so many questions! I am a 37 SWF who lives in south-west France. I had a gastric band fitted last August and have lost 30 kilos to date. I only started losing weight after my 3rd fill at Christmas. I have had quite a few problems with the band but I have lost lots of weight so I can't really complain. I am plateaued out at the moment but this is pretty self-enforced as I have been trying to feed myself up a bit after nearly passing out from malnutrition!!! Anyway, I am looking forward to looking up all my problems and hopefully helping some people out with theirs too. Charlotte

    Looking Like November :(

I don't blame you. I have felt like I've been in a bubble since this whole process started. I CANNOT wait for it to be over. Not only for the weight to come off but so I can stop thinking about it. My surgery is on the 14th and I cannot wait to start the liquid diet. Sooner it starts sooner it's over.
  23. I live at 8,500 ft and one of my jobs is at 9,500ft. My band is normally pretty tight. I went to Indiana this past weekend and the band didn't seem as tight as usual. Now that I am back home in the rockies, I am back to being tight. I would say the skiing also helped with that drop in weight. It's a good thing!

    Anyone post-op with GERD?

I actually lived with pre-op GERD (silent reflux) mis-diagnosed as asthma for 10 years prior to surgery. Mine presents as chronic coughing rather than heartburn and is worse at night. They started me on Omeprazole right after my EGD and it made a big difference. For the first month post-op, it was worse. Bad enough that I had to raise the head of my bed with a couple of 6" lifts and double my Omeprazole to twice per day. However, once my stomach healed and the weight began to come off things got MUCH better. I was able to flatten my bed again and now, at 9 months out, only have a single night time does of Omeprazole. I'm hoping to be off of it all together in time.
  25. How dramatic, or unhealthy can weight loss in feet be? I am just 4 months post-op and lost 39% excess weight (based on BMI) and I have noticed me feet are slightly more slender, and a "bump" on my right foot (below that artery) is no longer annoying me so much I skip the shoe lace hole for long walks. I am still the same shoe size, just my feet seem slightly less "bulky." More importantly, I noticed what appears to be some potential loose skin developing on the outside bases on both my "pinky" toes. Does this become a problem down the road? I know about loose skin, but loose skin in feet would seem like more of a problem. I have always had athlete foot problems, so this concerns me if it gets "worse."
