Self Payers in Florida

SchillingFord requires a 32 BMI and performs at a bariatric center of excellence. I was 30 so he was out. Dr. Wiseman missed two consultations with me and then called me from his personal cell phone in his car which pissed me off so he was out. I finally ended up at Riverside surgical center. There are two doctors they are in their prices are very reasonable. I went with radecke. P.m. me if you have questions -
Mine was and is a bit different because I’m already seeing someone and we are working through the bariatric issues together, also part of why I’m waiting a few months still before having surgery. Some psychs seem to love those long questionnaires as you found out during your appointment, hopefully the report is all fine and I’m sorry you have to wait to get an idea of his evaluation

Pre-Op to Post-Op - my recent journey
marissagil replied to Coleslaw's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's funny to hear the difference in procedures from patient to patient. I had my surgery on June 13th and am 2 days post OP. Prior to my surgery I was in a strict liquid diet for 14 days then a clear liquid diet the day before surgery. I bought a bariatric binder online however, my doctor does not recommend wearing them long term. I thought that was strange because, it feels pretty good to wear and have that support. I am barely able to drink much of my protein shake today and wonder how in the world I'm suppose to get 64 oz of liquid in me. I take my bandaid off today and am anxious to see what they look like. What did you do with your old clothes and pictures after weight loss surgery success

And I still have the now 11 boxes of 3-4-5x and above sitting in one end of my kitchen . it is big enough I use a futon couch as a seat along the wall for my dining table. Better not have company, they're sitting on the futon. Now to seduce someone into taking me and them to Goodwill, nobody comes and picks things up for charitable centers! Frustrating for me because I'm sure there are Chubbettes like I formerly was here in On i x County that could use them, we have an ungodly Obesity rate, clear down to Toddlers and .and also preschoolers. Wish I could climb a pulpit and tell them all what Bariatrics meant to ME. But I once would not have stopped and listened, just wanted to get into IGA, Krogers or Wal-Mart, buy my stuff and get the _____ out of Dodge. I was too ashamed of my body, Me and how I THOUGHT I looked. I was emotionally pretty low and nearly without hope. Any of you relate? Yep Thought So! But time has given US progress, just wish in my ❤ all the others could find it too! -
It does it DOES! Update: I was not afflicted at surgery, just had another endoscopy, a different doctor. He did the traditional then went down farther into the ileum, almost to level of a high colonoscopy. Had to have pumped gas in to be better ascertain. An gastroenterologist instead of the General/Bariatric surgeons I had been having. An hour- abd- half after I got home the pain set in, under both shoulders and across my chestn and I toured with the idea that I was DYING! Couldn't sleep, finally sat up , figured if I died, at least my son wouldn't find me in bed. And the Emergency Squad, the way my house/apartment is set up with no doorways in a straight linr, they would not be able to get the gurney in. I have lost over a 120 pounds since surgery , much thinner but still an Ample Sample of WomanFlesh. The living room you would have to make only one sharp turn through the dining room, so feasable if necessary. Finally somebody mentioned GAs , I took my walker because I could not stand up straight enough for my cane and started walking. Still got evaluated at the ER because I wanted to make certain I didn't have any ❤damage, so sue me, I AM 73, you surely don't suspect anything else! And THAT is a whole nother story, a quickly EKG, blood draw and left me in the ER lobby for 5 hours in a Wheelchair. If I had been pregnant I could have delivered and enrolled the baby in Head Start while I was there! And way back before surgery I was a soda pop drinker, even a few times beer or ale, NEVER THIS MUCH GAS AND NEVER THIS MUCH PAIN! Delivering Tomkitten at 9 1/2 pounds and a natural vaginal birth, a summer picnic in comparison! Going to tell Dr Ipchurch, the GI, if he is harbour ring any delusions of a follow-up colonoscopy aim staying awake to make sure he doesn't get too Pump- Happy! So Brothers and Sisters if I teased and tormented you all about being Gas-Wusses I'm Sorry, on my Am I. So Sorry, IT IS VERY REAL!😳💦😳

Lies to tell people about what surgery I am having

I finally used Keto Diet and also, that my allergies had flared up. Anyone who has known me very l9ng would know I have fought quite a battle with them in the past. One semi- friend told me if I had completed my series of allergy shots, I wouldn't have any problems! The fact that when I was terminated from my job and lost that insurance, I had no money to continue, did not enter into her mind. Perhaps she thought my pretty face would be enough payment. So to her I let my allergist take the blame instead of my bariatric surgeon. Oh if she had been a nicer type I MIGHT have told her the truth. There are people I have been totally honest with but MY LIFE-MY BUSINESS - if you are not paying for it, you are not required to KNOW ANYTHING! Gastric sleeve revision?
mi75 replied to need2bthin!'s topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I agree with this totally. Many of us have experienced regain and lost the regain by getting our heads right again. It's easy to fall off track after some time and almost forget that you are a WLS patient, but that should always be part of who you are! The only true way to know if there's stretch is to have an EGD or a barium swallow. Most bariatric surgeons will tell you that a sleeve can't truly stretch because of the basic muscle type involved. I went back to my NUT, went back to the psychiatrist, went full on Keto and lost my regain. For ME, It was really about getting out of my own head, finding what I know works, and getting back to work. -

Starting to feel very, very scared
Frustr8 replied to LL1982's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
And LT1968 I will celebrate my 1st Surgiversity on September 5th. And I have had a far from typical recovery, starting out, I am very old to have sought Bariatric Surgery, I was 72 years, 8 m9nths and I think 16(just counted up) days old when I received my RNY. I had sought it foe over 3 years, so yes I REALLY WANTED IT! Things started out fine , then I developed some rarer complications, had different interventions, not quite healed yet! So Hon, if anyone regretted surgery, wished they went back to the way before, it should be ME! But a funny thing happened on my way to victory--- I am not sorry. Would I go through it again? Yeah at least 85% sure I would. I started at 365+ pounds, at that point I put my Heavy little Foot down and said "You shall weigh me no more" last bit of spunk in my rapidly breaking- down body. PCP threatened I would be dead by 75, called me a Walking TimeBomb, the fact I had not developed all the diseases in my gene pool did not ensure I wouldn't. Well i might be fail8ng fast but I am a natural redhead, Mama called it Strawberry Blonde but it still is pretty red! And that and natural mid- to Old Age crabbiness, no young whelp not even one with a Medical License is going to get in my face and say "Die, dang you, die!" Since he lives in a gated community so I can't blow his house up, I shall vent my sleen by continuing to live. And a moment of clarity came! I shall seek Bariatric surgery, and I will do it to prove all my nay-sayers wrong! And it was an uphill battle, most programscaround here won't take you above 60, the majority of the rest 70, found a program , went through a program not once but twice, first time through I lost insurance coverage, after attempt #2 surgeon capriciously decided " I don't want to do your surgery!" Still have never deduced what HIS PROBLEM was, got some suspections, but I v am well rid of him ! And his home hospital, where he performed his surgeries? Embroiled in a very extensive LawSuit, quite the talk of this section of Mid-America. There was a doctor employed there, appointed himself the Death Angel & overdosed people to their death, 40 and still growing. Where will it stop? Not until the final total is reached. Oh he will be going away for a very long time when he is finally convicted. How my years is 40 times Life behind bars? Any way Thank God for getting me away from that place! I found a better surgeon at a better hospital, band although I am his oldest patient I intend to be one of the best! And tonight I finally made it below. 200 pounds, 199.4, on Bariatric Pal we call it Onederland, and I know I would never have made here without commitment and my surgery. So Thanks to all who helped, My Dr Needleman especially , he believed in me and gave me this chance! Saved my life? I bel8eve so! Oh I could go on and on singing praises to him, he is not only a skillful surgeon but a heck of a nice guy. And my new motto? THE REST OF MY LIFE WILL BE THE BEST OF MY LIFE! How much longer will I live? No person on earth knows that for certain But I do know it will be so much better! I scarcely know myself, my size of course changed, but so did my appearance. I used to have chipmunk cheeks, now I have an angular one, there is gossip , often denied by my father's people that we have Native American/First Nations ( depending whether you are American or Canadian) well hello the high cheekbones have popped out. Been covered up since babyhood but Whoops there they are! Make everyone a challenge, if you have Wikipedia on your computer or smartphone pull up Peoria people or Peoria tribe. The lady pictured there is the spitting image of my Aunt Minnie, Daddy's sister. You get out the family scrapbook, my Great- great grandfather, yes they had film that long ago, looks just like Iron Eyes Cody, an actor I believe from the Lakota tribe. Oh I have far from sufficent blood to ever be on a tribal role but I find it interesting to be maybe be more initialed to be in Ohio than the average settler family. So I have started resembling dead relatives, some of which were real foodies. It's Almost like" Hiya Mirror! Who do I look like today?" But it is rather fun and I might actually turn out pretty cute! I am definitely a Work in Progress! Fear is natural, you are entering a Brave New World, an undiscovered Land, there may or may not be signposts along the way, but I will promise you UT IS MORE THAN WORTH THE TROUBLE! Come join me on the👣 journey, walk with me a while. And who knows for certain we may each find?😛❤🍀 -
I would like to warn new people who are thinking to go in for balloon. it is a total waste of money, time, and energy. I had spatz balloon placed in order to loose weight which backfired and i increased 2 kg with balloon though first 2 weeks i lost 4 kg as i wasnt eating anything. Even doctors were like what the heck but didn't have any answer and refilled the ballon with more saline water. But i kept having cramps in stomach for first few weeks and bad hunger pangs and feel pukey all the time.also if you sleep on side or on stomach you have to keep adjusting whole night which is another problem not having enough sleep. All of a sudden my sugar levels would go below 40 even while eating ( which is too dangerous ). I 've had a email exchange with inventor of spatz baloon Dr. jeff brooks but nothing helped and i had to get it removed in 2nd month. you all might not have low sugar levels and other issues but i would ask you to think 1000 times before going in for balloon. I would recommend try changing you diet and add some exercise if nothing works only then go in for Bariatric surgery as balloon once removed, you will gain all your weight back unless you are keeping it off by rigorous diet and exercise.

June 2019 Surgery Siblings!
Krimsonbutterflies replied to BulletWithButterflyWings's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope everyone who is recovering and preparing are in the best spirits. I'm reading and taking notes on everything being shared. I went to do my labs today, before my pre- op appt. on June 27th so the Bariatric team can get a realistic look at what we need to do to get me surgery ready. My A1C is back up to 5.8 from 5.3, I'm anemic/iron deficient, had 3 periods since May 3rd (currently on the 3rd one), went to get an ultrasound today so I can get to the source of this body drama...On week 3 of my Options class (Kaiser 12 weeks mandatory), I've lost almost 30 pounds since last September....so I thought I was doing great and now all of this body drama. Today, I honestly feel scared & confused. My stress levels have already been high, I'm thankful for this platform and staying encouraged via all of you and your strength. -
I like the ones Bariatric Advantage make.

It sounds like (non expert, non doctor here) that it may be reactive hypoglycemia, which is fairly common in the bypass world, as it is a result of rapid stomach emptying due to the lack of pyloric valve in that procedure, causes an insulin spike followed by low blood sugar triggering hunger. With the sleeve, we can also experience somewhat rapid emptying due to our small stomach size. DIfferent foods affect this, too - the so-called "slider" foods that slide on through because they don't trigger the pyloric valve to close, typically highly processed carbohydrates. If this is what is going on, try sticking to meats and high fiber vegetables that tend to stay in the stomach longer and see if that helps. If it is not RH, then an endrocinologist may be in order to see what is going on with this imbalance. Whether or not your sleeve was botched, you should check with a bariatric surgeon to evaluate this - if you go to your original surgeon, a second opinion from another may be in order to verify whether or not it was "botched" (would the original doc really admit that he goofed?) good luck in working this out,

after surgery issues...
RickM replied to johnedwin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is your bariatric surgeon in the loop on this? It would not be unusual for liver numbers to be wonky between your obese condition pre-op, any pre-op diets for "shrinking the liver" and subsequent weight loss which stresses the liver owing to its job in metabolizing the fat that is being lost; in short, there's lots going on that can cause unusual liver numbers, so I would want someone familiar with bariatric patients weighing in (so to speak) on this so that they don't go overboard on treating something that may well be "normal" for your circumstances. Good luck, and glad they got the pain issues under control, -
I am so excited, nervous, and a little scared all in one. I finally have insurance that cover bariatric surgery and I didn’t waste no time applying. I had my first consultation June12 and I only have a 90 day process. I have to see a nutritionist 3 times and the surgeon visit count as one so I only I have to do 2 classes and psych evaluation plus an ekg. I’m so excited I was expecting 6months or longer. The surgeon will do the Sleeve and later down the road he’ll do a bypass. What is the nutrition class like?

after surgery i was a in a lot of pain which is to be expected..then i at home.. i had issues taking deep breaths so i called a ambulance and was taken to the emergency room... at 2"00 am in the morning....i was given something for the extreme pain i was in .. then i had a lot of blood tests had a ct scan.. the docs said maybe i had aspiration after surgery.. which could develop into pneumonia.. they gave me some antibiotics told me they would admit me... but i was still in the emergency room till 11"00pm the next time.. until they got me a room.. very quiet place only `1 other patient there.. bed was much more comfortable... i got some good sleep..a few docs talked to me and said they were concerned about some of my blood tests not for possible pneumonia but for my liver..some possible abnormality they detected.. so they had to do more tests had a ultrasound...i also was given my pain meds which led to a less painful experience for me lol.not what i expected after bariatric surgery...

February 2019 weight loss buds
Sheribear68 replied to TheMarine79's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I’m losing some, but I just can’t for the life of me get brave enough for a short cut. Every time in the past when I’ve ever cut my hair shorter than shoulder length, I insta regret it and I always feel like it makes my face look fat fat fat. Maybe if my hair loss progresses beyond mild to moderate into the severe category, but mine has always been reeeeeeeeally slow growing (before bariatric surgery) so if I regretted it, it would take well over a year to grow back. -
Tricare, BAMC, SAMMC Bariatrics
TBMartinez14 posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Curious to see how long others who went through bariatrics at their MTF have waited, specifically through BAMC. I turned in my checklist last week but have heard conflicting accounts of how long the waitlist truly is. Some folks say they waited only a month, and some say up to 6 months. Anyone recently have surgery through BAMC Bariatrics?? How long was your wait? (oh and If you can tell me how to join the private facebook group that would be awesome too) -
Yes there is no shame asking for help if you need it. The surgery can upset your emotions, make you doubt the wisdom of your surgery and even worse, make you doubt yourself. Try to find someone who knowns, understands and is willing to work with bariatric patients, we are not always the easier traditional clients but equally worthy of help. And remember, although we are your peers and not professionals, we do care, we will help if we can!

All minor, but that said, we all have a thing or 2 that does bother you! I thought they might laugh at me being so old, I missed my cats because my son basically "roomed in" with me, but my biggest? That my surgeon would change his mind at the last minute and WOULD NOT perform my surgery. And to me that was a date 10 times worse than death. And no, I never feared dying on the table, which at 72 I easily could have. I knew my surgeon would not let THAT happen, it would ruin his Perfect Record as well as screw up my life as well as my son's. And he also believed implictedly in Dr Needleman, so much that he is considering Bariatric Surgery for himself!

Am I getting enough calories
Frustr8 replied to Kara Duke's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At this point I doubt I am! That said, I am vasically still healthy, protein and fluids first, veggies next if there is room, seldom have room for fruits, don't crave them anyway. Tried to discuss this a month ago with dietician only to be told, You Look Good, Diet looks pretty good , in less there is an emergency we will see you in August. The fact I feel instictively I am starving into malnutrition, not relevant? IDK- I feel like a Voice Crying in the Wilderness " ARE YOU SURE I'M DOING THIS RIGHT?" I must appear okay but I don't seem to handle anything with form, like chewed up meats, veggies et all. Last endo shows Jejunem is patent- well goody goody for that- my question is, and no one will answer it, not NP, not surgeon, not even gastroenterologist, did the severed and/or squeezed to death enervation in my pouch regenerate to point I have regained any peristaltic movement? Or is it as I suspect, there is no propulsive force to move things along and out, this is why and what I repeatedly emesis up more solid things? And also, ves there is enough gastric acidic juices to try eating holes in my pouch and jejunem, but are they starting to beak down proteins and the other foodstuffs or are they extruding like thick toothpaste into my small intestine? These are things NOBODY wants to talk about, I do know basis anatomy but I need a tutorial on Bariatric 201, 201 because this is at least Sophmore or Junior- level information.Do I demand another office consultation with my gastroenterologist Dr Upchurch, who is at least here in my city instead of in Columbus 50 miles away? He gas been a G.I. doctor for maybe 20+ years , so he is smart enough, does HE Want to SPARE ME the time? After years of Frankly Fathood it is still weird to feel clavickes, ribs, even the outside edges of my hipbones. Oh I am grateful my legs arevregainibg their youthful proportions even if the musckescare no longer as strong. And although many of my bari-sisters will disagree, I REALISH THE WOLF WHISTLES I GET! Yeah that doesn't mean they will ever catch me, but after years of being basically ignored , it is nice to be barked at, makes a gal feel alive instead of dead , I can handle being" meat, " because inside I'll feel like "eye candy"! Your specimen of reborn youth--- FRUSTR8 -
It sounds like you might benefit from talking to a therapist that specializes in bariatric patients. One thing the surgery won't do is prevent you from eating the "worst food." You will still be able to eat unhealthy food with your sleeve. If I get hungry during the night I drink almond milk because it's filling and low calorie. To lose weight, sleeve or no, you will need to eat a healthy, low-calorie diet.

You link me where I said 600 calories is a proper diet a year out. Here, or message me. When someone is in a bariatric forum talking about surgery, it's gonna be about bariatric surgery. What you need to do, is read more carefully. In my posts I said specifically to solve the fatigue problem, because if it's diet related, she'll have trouble. And that goes for men too. I really have no idea where in hell you get an idea this is a female issue. Then I specifically said to see her doctor and nutritionist because fatigue problems with bariatric surgery (what this form is for) are common with dieting problems. I'll also refer you to post #9 on this thread. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using BariatricPal mobile app

It's almost certainly the shakes, but my doctor doesn't allow substitutions, in general. I'm only allowed to use HPMR Bariatric Advantage shakes. They're awful. I hold my nose and do my best to get them down, but it's not working that great. I'm going to call them first thing in the morning and see if they can help me!
