I had an appointment with my regular doctor today. My list of medications has now gone froom 8 to 4 :becky: and that's only because I CHOOSE to be on these 4: zyrtec(for allergies), birth control, synthroid, and effexor(new ssri since Paxil packs on the pounds) He was really surprised when I told him that I had not been taking my Actos for the past two months, but when he looked at my numbers he was really impressed. We decided not to refill my blood pressure meds and that I only have to take what I have left every other day until I run out. That should not take long. I'm down 30lbs since surgery! :clap2: My hA1c is 5.7. That is down from 5.9 on the day of surgery and it should continue to drop. Today has been a really good day. My nephew is also visiting with me for a few days and made the comment the other day that I sure do hiccup a lot after a meal. :hungry: Seems he's picked up on my soft stop as well.:thumb:

So today I took my Experimental Psych final and was kind of nervous about climbing into the seats. Our lecture halls have smallish seats and no space to crawl over people if you come in late. A year ago, in the same hall, I actually had to stay and wait for everyone to finish in my row so I could crawl out without literally squishing someone. Not to mention that I couldn't put the desk down all the way - my thighs were too big -- and it dug into my tummy and I was squeezed on both sides from teh arm rests. WELL! Today, I fit nicely in the seats, WITH EXTRA SPACE! My desk went down all the way and I was able to slither my way out of the row when I finished my exam without any embarrassment. I have never felt so happy to fit into a damn seat. I was beaming through my whole exam .

What a lovely NSV for a lovely woman!

Well I am late to the party here but... Congratulations. We go into this with high hopes and expectations... But like me I kept it in the back of my mind that it may not happen like I hoped... Well it does for the most part and you have done a fabulous job. The best NSV's are the ones you listed about medication and how much your life has improved. I am sure you will make many more discoveries in the next year to come. Once again congrats and it's stories like yours that give all new bandsters hope

Ryan, you are so thoughtful. I line dry mine. I wanted to be in on this survey. I am glad she is home and you are having a hard time keeping your pants up. Okay, now maybe that did not come out right!? Way to go on all the huge weight loss and your are several sizes smaller in the waist and cannot keep your pants up. That is a great nsv. I am chuckling about bra drying survey and not being able to keep your pants up. Too fun. Nice to hear you laughing again. I can hear you laugh if I listen really quietly..... great sound!!! Keep up your great work. Take care, Theresa Marie

what type of scale do you use?
BLERDgirl replied to GenaW828's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's just another reason why the scale is not the best way to monitor your progress. Look for NSV and take your measurements. Even when the scale doesn't move, you'll get a better view of your progress. -
35 days ago I could eat like a horse. I remember not two months ago being able to put away a whole pizza if I was hungry, a huge sub sandwich. Anything you gave me I could finish and the fact that there wasn't anything left to eat was my signal to stop eating. Hahahahahahahaha. It is such an odd new world. I am now an abstemious eater. This morning I poured a normalish looking bowl of Cereal for myself and ate a whopping three mouthfuls before I was done. I left the house, went swimming(yay), went to get my oil checked and then got a car wash because my car looked like it had just returned from Islamabad, Then I had this weird bill that I had to straighten out. It was 3 PM. I had not eaten anything but three swallows of Special K Protein cereal six hours before. I was starving, driving around, thinking I had to get to food at some point and then I realized I could stop *anywhere* to get *anything* to eat. So after my scheduled argument with customer service I went across the street to Jimmy John's and ordered a turkey sub. Now I knew there was no way I could eat even half of it but it seemed like a brilliant option to my hungry, clueless doggy brain. Okay. When I got home I ate the following: Two pinches of turkey and provolone and a tear of bread. The whole damn sandwich was sitting there and I did not want anymore. I ate a small tomato. Done. 4.25 I paid for that thing and it would feed me for a week. I put the rest of it in the fridge with all the the other stuff I've tried to eat this week and could not finish. Imagine making a Lean Cuisine and having it sit through three mealtimes until it was spent. Can you believe that? I can't. I was standing there perusing the rapid acquisitions my fridge was making and then I realized something. I forgot to weigh myself. I've not been weighing myself at home, will not check my weight if it seems like part of a compulsion, and refuse to obsess. But I do jump on when I'm at the club. Before surgery that scale gave me the highest weight so I decided to go with it. I figured it was telling the truth. But I forgot! The health club I go to is full of normal Midwestern people. A lot of them have nordic backgrounds and I think this is why they have this odd custom of running around naked, even the old women. It is a trip. I have always been kind of a modest person and when you're fat, you know, the last thing you're going to do is go bouncing around a locker room without your drawers on. But these women just wander around with nothing on, in all their Midwestern not-so-perfect glory. I know it sounds strange but as I was averting my eyes from a 55 year old female who was not my relative I started to giggle to myself. I have been feeling utterly hideous for at least two years but I look just like everybody else there, pretty much. Suddenly my perspective shifted. I was not the ugliest, fattest human being on the planet. Not that I was looking for other candidates in that locker room but it was a quick hit of reality: I'm just a normal, overweight middle aged person, like these people here. Still can't bring myself to run around in the altogether like these women though. I'm always in my suit or something and demurely step behind a shower curtain for the full monty. One thing I can tell you though is that when you start to feel like you have more control over something as unconscious as your relationship with food, you just have no idea what other little neuroses are going to resolve along with it. So NSV I guess: I forgot to weigh myself and forgot to hate what I look like today. Go Team.

Keep it up! Many more NSV's to come!
-
I vote don't weigh. It will save you a lot of stress. Better yet, you won't even know if you have a stall or not. You can concentrate on drinking, getting in Protein and making healthy food choices. Judge your success by how your clothes fit and NSV's. F... K the numbers on the scale. I don't even own a scale. I weighed myself at the doctors office maybe 4 times in the first 2 months. After 4 months, I have stepped on the scale at work about once a week so I have something to post on my ticker. And I've always lost weight whether a I weigh myself or not.

That's so awesome!!! Great NSV! -
Hey everyone! Just wanted to post something that happened to me while shopping in NYC. I was with my best friend and we were walking down 5th Avenue. We're stopped at a crosswalk and a man taps me on the shoulder and says... "Excuse me miss. I don't typically do this but I really feel I need to tell you something." Of course, I'm thinking something terrible...food in teeth, split my pants...whatever. He says, "I've walked the streets in Manhattan my entire life and I have to tell you that you're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen" HELLO!!??? I haven't had a compliment from other than my husband in years! My friend said I was smiling so wide she thought my face would crack! I LOVE NEW YORK!!:grouphug:

I was so cold this morning and I couldnt find my long pj's when I got out of bed. I grabbed the first thing I could find and just shimmied into them. They are my husbands sweats. A size MEDIUM! I cant remember the last time I could wear his pants. He is 150 soaking wet lol! I also got into the 220's this morning. the first time in 15 years!

Weight loss for 300+ sleevers!
sleevieray replied to jennaleigh1992's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5'6" and was 331 pounds at my highest weight in mid-2012. I was 316 pounds on the day of my surgery (12/20/12). I have been 297 or 298 pounds (depending on the day, aaargh) since 1/18/13. I am doing everything I'm supposed to do, but I can't break this stall. I've also been trying to concentrate on NSVs instead of what the scale says, but I have been feeling very discouraged and depressed for a couple of days. I know I shouldn't compare my weight loss to others' losses, but that's hard to do sometimes. Thanks to everyone who posted their amazing progress! Your posts are inspiring and got me out of the dumps today. I'm sure I'll look back on this month and laugh once I'm six months post-op.
