So I work with kids all day and have always wanted to wear a Halloween costume that was premade to work because everyone else could but I had to always make my own because I couldn't fit. Well no longer my friends.....I know it's such a small thing, but it means the world to me!

Huge NSV. Celebrate them all.

My latest NSV was when I realized that I have gone into the fabulous little bakery that is at my office complex to get my daily non-fat latte and breathed in the great-smelling (and tasting!) pastries and not purchased one over the last 4 months since surgery. Have been some days where I was tempted, but wasn't (too) difficult to tell myself "no". Nice to be making mindful choices that support a healthy lifestyle

I'm 2 and a half weeks post op. About 5 months ago, at 335 lbs I realized that my scrubs were busting at the seams and bought new ones; 5x top, 3x pants. Yesterday I realized I was swimming in my scrubs. Today I broke out the ones that were busting at the seams... and at 276.6, my 3x top and XL pants fit perfectly .. I'm going to take them in at least once before I go shopping for new scrubs. Because never in the last 5 years have I been more than 30 lbs smaller than I am now.. so I don't own any smaller scrubs.

About 7 mos ago before I was banded I bought about $100 worth of bras from Lane Bryant....Now that I have been banded for about 6 mos none of them fit! That is a wonderful NSV but really expensive too boot....

Hi Everyone, I'm a newbie here and was wondering what "NSV" stands for. I tried to figure it out all on my own, but haven't had any luck yet. Best Wishes to ALL of You!

Thanks Anwyn, I'm glad that I've been able to help! I think it is so important to track all the changes in your life. Not only the physical ones, but hopefully the changes we make so that we don't need to be fat any more. And the best way I know of to track these changes is to keep a list of all your NSVs. Besides, when you are invited to be a guest on the Oprah show, you have to have something to show besides what the scale says, right? Right!

Sheila!!! THAT IS INCREDIBLE!!!!! You should be so proud of yourself!!!! Unfortunately I have no NSV's to report at this time as far as weight goes. But, I was recently accepted into a very prestigious Veterinary Technician program and start August 29th. I start my pre op diet tomorrow and I'm hoping that I will have some scale victories before my surgery on the 29th. I don't think I'll lose enough to have NSV's but we shall see! I'm so proud of you....keep up the great work!

I had my first "non plus size store NSV" at the J Jill store (which is 125 miles from my house), since then, I have just been in love with the store, the clothes, the fact that they FIT my slimmer me, etc....... But now--and this is the exciting part-- I live in a TINY northwoods Wisconsin town. No where to shop for clothes except Walmart, Kmart and Shopko which gets a little (alot) old after a while. NOw some cute hip chick has opened a fab boutique right here in our town! I went today "just to look". I found a pair of pants I thought might work. She put them in the dressing room. I am still too big to fit into the gorgeous sweaters and most of the tops she had..... Tried on the pants. Nice, but something not right. Came out and asked her (very skinny, blonde and CHIC) what she thought. She said "they are too big". I almost fell over. Too big? Never experienced too big. She brought me a regular size 14. They fit like they were made for me. I almost cried I was so happy. NO more JJill. shopping locally. bought two pair of those size 14 pants, and a new top that is an XL, but I can live with that (I guess I have to, since I have boobs!). Just wanted to share with people who KNOW what it feels like. Happy day for me today.

6 Days Post-Op And Have Nsv's Already!
Liberated Sleeve posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weighed 222 on surgery day - so during surgery and the 2 days in the hospital the IV fluids managed to allow me to gain 6 lbs. Lost 4 of them in days 3 and 4 post op - days 4 and 5 have not seen the scale move. But I'm sure I am not done yet! NSV's - 1) Have not taken any diabetes medications since two days before surgery (I was on 3) 2) Have not taken any high blood pressure medications since one day before surgery (I was on 2) Pretty sure the high blood pressure medications are done. Not sure if the diabetes medications are gone forever, but my numbers are really good and I do believe that once I start eating real food again and exercising at a deeper level, those medications are history too!! Those were two of the main reasons I had the surgery in the first place so it is already winning BIG in my humble opinion!!- 9 replies

Lisa ~ ditto! I like those NSV's TBB! My butt is so boney and my collar bones are showing. My weight loss is virtually at a stand still, but have just gotten into a size 8 Lee Skinny Jeans and a size 6 in slacks! Love it. I feel really good also. -
Congrats!! I love the NSV's!! Can't wait until I hit another one!! Good luck with everything.

I hope you get well quickly so you can discover more NSV's!

I had an appointment with my regular doctor today. My list of medications has now gone froom 8 to 4 :becky: and that's only because I CHOOSE to be on these 4: zyrtec(for allergies), birth control, synthroid, and effexor(new ssri since Paxil packs on the pounds) He was really surprised when I told him that I had not been taking my Actos for the past two months, but when he looked at my numbers he was really impressed. We decided not to refill my blood pressure meds and that I only have to take what I have left every other day until I run out. That should not take long. I'm down 30lbs since surgery! :clap2: My hA1c is 5.7. That is down from 5.9 on the day of surgery and it should continue to drop. Today has been a really good day. My nephew is also visiting with me for a few days and made the comment the other day that I sure do hiccup a lot after a meal. :hungry: Seems he's picked up on my soft stop as well.:thumb:

So today I took my Experimental Psych final and was kind of nervous about climbing into the seats. Our lecture halls have smallish seats and no space to crawl over people if you come in late. A year ago, in the same hall, I actually had to stay and wait for everyone to finish in my row so I could crawl out without literally squishing someone. Not to mention that I couldn't put the desk down all the way - my thighs were too big -- and it dug into my tummy and I was squeezed on both sides from teh arm rests. WELL! Today, I fit nicely in the seats, WITH EXTRA SPACE! My desk went down all the way and I was able to slither my way out of the row when I finished my exam without any embarrassment. I have never felt so happy to fit into a damn seat. I was beaming through my whole exam .

Well I am late to the party here but... Congratulations. We go into this with high hopes and expectations... But like me I kept it in the back of my mind that it may not happen like I hoped... Well it does for the most part and you have done a fabulous job. The best NSV's are the ones you listed about medication and how much your life has improved. I am sure you will make many more discoveries in the next year to come. Once again congrats and it's stories like yours that give all new bandsters hope
