Make your own with veggie powder vanilla with yogurt and milk and maybe a cou0le small pieces fruit. That's what I do in the morning so I get protein water and some calories. -

So good to see your post tonight @mishyk. I think you try to broaden the variety in what you are eating. Maybe try some tuna salad , egg salad, etc... I would be so tired of yogurt lol.... so happy for you gaining the confidence to date your friend. Enjoy yourself girl. -

I'm on day 5, I haven't cheated at all, but it hasn't been easy. I can only have meat and veggies, I don't like either very much. I am only taking in 500-600 cals a day. I am actually looking forward to my surgery, because at least after, I can have yogurt! Good luck, we'll make it!!!! Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app -

Great idea! The higher protein Greek yogurt can be blended into so many things. I'm going to try it as soon as I am off full liquids. Sent from my LG-LS997 using BariatricPal mobile app -

The only way I can tolerate yogurt's taste is in savory, not sweet, preparations. I add it to soups or add some spices and a splash of vinegar to it, and it's delicious! -

My understanding--which may be wrong--is that I can't have caffeinated beverages for quite some time and that dairy is kind of discouraged except for yogurt and cottage cheese . . . Admittedly, I'm in the early stages of this process and don't know a lot for sure--have just scheduled my first appointment with the nutritionist. -

Hey girls! i am so sorry I havent been logging on as often lately.. I've been so distracted.. but first.. the guy I went on a date with was someone that I've known for a while.. we have history.. a couple months back he would ask me to spend time with him almost everyday for 2 months and I would say no because of my weight.. I guess i got happy that I've changed alot since the surgery and had the courage to spend time. It was a good time.. mostly talking alot! So as far as my diet I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong but I even cut out pureed beans because that has a tons of carbs and while i was eating it my scale did not move. As soon as I stopped eating it I've dropped some more pounds. I only eat dannon greek yogurt called light and fit (if I'm saying it correctly ) only 80 calories each 6 carbs and 12 of protein.. i eat about 2 of those a day.. each i eat half as a meal .. and I also eat cottage cheese.. and water.. I havent done tea in a while but I should today. At night i juice some vegetables and drink it slowly. That's all I do.. and now i keep my portions under 3 oz. sometimes i read the group chat and I feel bad because I dont know if I'm feeding my body right.. but i've lost weight and I feel fine. Maybe in the afternoon a little low on energy and I take a nap around 3:30 til like 5:30 then I'm fine again. I'll continue reading the chat to catch up.... and by the way thank you girls on the compliment.. it feel like warm hugs lol [emoji7][emoji178] -
Yogurt options pre-op

I learned from early on with my nut doctor that learning how to rehab my diet meant tasting food not add more sugar diet or otherwise. I don't crave very sugary drinks. I've been able to add just a half of a packet of stevia into my protein iced tea otherwise its too sweet. If you don't like Greek yogurt try a lowfat yogurt and add a scoop of unflavored protein to it. It adds your protein and you get the yogurt you really like, I tried it and loved it. I have used stevia sparingly because if I don't get the sugary cravings under control I will never eat properly. All white stuff has to go, sugar, bread, pasta and potatoes. If I have any pasta its only a half cup, if I want a potato I split one with my mom, I just try to eat the meat when I'm craving Italian bread with sausage and peppers sandwich I only eat the sausage and peppers and omit the bread. It doesn't make my mom very happy about any of this because she has an insane need, as an Italian mother to want her kids to eat pasta and eat it well. I believe that the hardest part of this journey for me was letting her adjust to the fact that I am not going to be able to eat the way I used to.She's getting better at it. We've never been big on too much sugar, they don't want you to eat sugar of any kind or choose low fat low sugar foods and adjust to it because its gonna help in the long run. I like siggi brand. It's not Greek, it's skyr. High protein, few ingredients. Real food. One trick I use is putting half a small pack crystal light in the cup of yogurt. Small pack you would use to put in a water bottle. You can make water ever flavor yogurt you want. -
Surgery on 07/03. What do I need?
Karcares replied to Angelcharm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I brought so much to the hospital I never needed. I recommend a good chapstick or Vaseline - my lips were so cracked and dry they hurt. I didn't even bring a change of clothes just clean undies. Slippers to walk in. A sweater or bed jacket if you get cold. I brought my kindle and phone and never opened the kindle. Either I was sleeping or trying to sleep. Earplugs - hospitals are noisy. As far as what to have at home, I would stock up on protein shakes, yogurt, crystal light, bottled water (if desired) and broth. Propel water saved me - it has electrolytes and has a flavor to it -I like the lemon flavor - and after a couple days of feeling nauseated and weak, it really helped. I asked my doctor for a prescription for Zofran for nausea and so glad I had it - took it for the first 7 days. A friend recommended getting a stool softener on hand and I needed it my second week - taking it daily now. Good luck on your surgery! -
The day went…okay! Here’s the run-down. Breakfast: 2 slices of whole wheat toast with scrambled eggs. Lunch: Caught empty-handed with no great options. I settled for packaged convenience food, which actually wasn’t too bad. I had a yogurt, an ounce of beef jerky, an orange, and a little tray of baby carrots and grape tomatoes. Dinner: Starving from busy afternoon with no snack, and no time to cook. Huge salad with romaine lettuce (pre-cut bag – easier!), grape tomatoes, and a scoop of tuna. Honey mustard dressing. 1 slice whole wheat toast with peanut butter. Snack: blue cheese. Why? I don’t know. I felt like it. My meals were not gourmet, but they were pretty healthy. How did your day go? What were the good and bad?

How much can you eat?
Apple1 replied to heylizzyclay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was full liquids on week two which included, protein shakes, yogurt, jello, soup broth, basically anything of a liquid consistency. I ate three times a day plus 2 snacks. Keep in mind you should also still be sipping all day to get your 64oz of fluids in. For me everything consumed counted towards the 64oz since it was all liquids. I hope this helps. -
I'm 2.5 months post op. I keep trying ice cream, but it all tastes like s***! One lick, and I can do without. I guess I keep thinking it is the type, but it's all the same way. I'm staying away from Hagen Daaz cuz I suspect that one will still taste good Ketchup is disgustingly sweet. Like tomato candy *gross!* I get a little pinch of pizza and it's nasty too! I LOVE eggs. Plain hardboiled was one of the first solids I ate, and it was sooo good! Beans are heavenly! They no longer cause intestinal/nose distress. Fruit is a mixed bag. Raw cherries, strawberries, and pineapple don't work well, but I love raw blueberries! I suspect cooked fruits won't be an issue, but am trying to limit fruit all together until I hit goal. Plain greek yogurt tastes good. (Plain.. like no added sweeteners at all!). Fage is super thick. Very filling.

Protein Shakes & what kind/Brand
des_ replied to CantStopMeNow's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not a fan of the premier protein shakes either, which is a shame because I think we bought a whole case at Costco and I have a lot left to get through. I do love the PB2 powder you can add for a little extra protein and it tastes great with any chocolate shake, so hopefully I'll be able to get through them that way. For premade shakes, I prefer the EAS advantage. I used to love making my own shakes, but I'm not far out pre op and find its so much easier right now just to be able to grab it already made out of the fridge. I really highly recommend unflavored protein powder, too. I have only tried Unjury unflavored protein powder, and find half a scoop mixes really well with my yogurt. But I know the Isopure gets a lot of positive recommendations on the boards, so it's probably all down to taste. Whichever one you go with, it can really help to get your protein in. -
Vitamins and Proteins... what are your go-to's?
des_ replied to Pistol_Annie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I like the Unjury unflavored protein because I can pack a lot of protein into my yogurt and it doesn't throw off the taste (I just do half a scoop). Pre surgery I loved GNC's optimum nutrition platinum hydro whey, but right now that's too much for my stomach to handle so I'm liking the EAS advantage premixed shakes, because I can have half then put the rest in the fridge if I'm not able to drink it all at once. I don't love the premier protein shakes but they seem really popular on the boards. For vitamins, I like the celebrate chewable with iron, but wish I didn't have to have 2 as the serving size. -
I had my lap RNY May 25 and was in the hospital 5 days. When I got home I weighed myself. I had been hovering around 336 preop, and weighed in at 344 (from the IV fluids). Today I weighed in at 318. I'm getting in my protein goal every day, not doing as well on the water but I'm trying, and staying around 600 calories per day. I know my weight loss is the exception and not the rule. Don't get discouraged, and just try to remind yourself you 6 months from now is going to look AND feel very different from you right now. I have the same problem with water as you. So you're not alone! Have you tried the Unjury unflavored protein powder? I add that to basically anything I can - just a half a scoop packs in a lot of extra protein and I find mixes really well with yogurt.

Surgery postponed for the right reason
GBLady41 replied to Seahawks Fan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink one Premier Protein shake a day with 30 grams of protein and 160 calories. That's part of the reason I have lower calories while getting in that much protein. Most mornings I drink an Oikos Drinkable yogurt that is 10 grams of protein and 110 calories. It's light and gives me more protein than anything else I have thought of. I have tried to eat an egg but it sits too heavy on me and it's harder to workout after that. Plus it's not 10 grams of protein. So my lunch is usually the only meal where I eat food, and I usually eat tuna, lean chicken breast, ground turkey, or ground chicken when I make my chicken crust pizzas, along with a few veggies, usually baby spinach or spring mix salad. And I keep my lunch between 3.5 to 4.5 oz. Sometimes, when it's a salad, I will put a little cheese, Pace Picante Chunky Salsa, and Pico de Gallo on there, which probably makes it closer to 5 oz. But I will take up to 30 minutes to eat it, pausing as soon as I start to fill full and allowing that food to go down before finishing it. That way, there's no chance of stretching my pouch out. -

Sleeved 6/1/17

In the hospital I was given yogurt pudding creamy soups so that's kinda soft -
I was sleeved on 6/1/17. I have been getting most of my liquids in but I am starting to still feel hungry. I have been able to eat baked potato soup but very little just cause of the calories. I also had some table food and made sure that it was chewed very fine so that it went down smooth. I wanted to know if anyone has ate soft solid foods this early. I am thinking about making a tuna alas with Greek yogurt for dinner this is still pretty soft

Hello all! This is my 1st post here. I had vsg 5/31, stayed in the hospital a few days due to not tolerating any PO intake and intense nausea. I'm home on day 6 post op, and I am struggling to get all the liquids in. I was told to transition to full liquids but it has not been going well. The nausea is so intense with protein shakes I just haven't been able to stomach them. I have been living on popcicles, broth, water, clear protein, and some yogurt. I have also been having horrible diarrhea the past two days. Is this normal?! I am so wiped out, I just wish I was getting enough in so I could be on the mend! Any advice is very appreciated!!

We have to do a liquid diet for 2 weeks before. Roughly 800-900 calories. 3 Premier protein shakes, 1 for each meal. 160cal, 2 gm sugar, 5 gm carbs, 3 gm fat, 30 gm protein each shake. In between they say 3/4 cup greek yogurt, but I don't really care for it, so I will try, but may switch to regular yogurt. I bought sugar free jello in case I want to "chew" the jello!!, and G2 for a treat. May do a tropical smoothie as a treat the green one with the lowest carb count and splenda. What are you guys doing???

How much can you eat?
Mindy78 replied to heylizzyclay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Around 5-7 weeks I went through an I could eat more than I thought I should phase then it was like my stomach woke up and said no. Sliders like soup yogurt liquids I can eat more but at 8 months out I can do about 3-4 protein 2-3 veggies. I have that 1 week a month where I feel constantly hungry regardless so I try stay more planned because I crave sweets, that I don't even want once I taste them
