  1. A year out, and I STILL portion out more than I can eat. I have to continually remind myself to take HALF of what my first inclination would choose. There is an old sensation emerging after all this time - the feeling of not getting enough food - like if I don't eat it now, it will be gone. It may go back to childhood days when we were pretty poor and my parents actually put a lock on the refrigerator to keep us kids from eating all the food. I don't know. But it is a head game that is starting to pop up. Anyway, like FluffyChix said, "Don't chase the full feeling." A bit down the road you will find that if you actually do eat until you feel full, you will regret it 10 mintutes later. You have to stop BEFORE you feel full and if you eat slowly, that will be when you don't feel hungry. Forget the full feeling.

    March 10th surgery date

Yeah super nervous. More so about having regrets after than any complications. I lost 10 lbs this month by following the diet. So it gets on my head that I could do this without surgery if I keep doing what I’m doing now. But I also know I’ve told myself this before and it didn’t work.

  6. It's been awhile since I checked in. Things are going pretty well. I feel so fortunate to have such a great bariatric clinic to provide me with support post-surgery. I've been seeing a therapist there since last fall and it has helped me so much. With both WLS and non WLS issues. I'm feeling so much more confident about myself than I ever have in my life and am really growing as a person. I also had gained 12 pounds back since my one-year surgery appointment. But I have been exercising consistently and 3 pounds of that is muscle gained! My bariatric Dr suggested I get some help using medication to lose the last of the weight needed to reach my goal. They put me on Ozempic, which is actually a medication for diabetic patients but has been approved to help with weight loss. It's a weekly injection, which made me a little nervous since I don't care for needles. But it is the tiniest needle ever, I don't even feel it going in when I Inject myself. It is helping a lot, the restriction makes me feel like I've just had surgery again! It reduces cravings and makes me feel fuller faster. I'm very excited to be on the weight loss train again. I've been lifting weights 3-6 days per week. 6 is the goal, 3 is the minimum I set for myself. I don't do much cardio anymore besides walking. I'm excited that the weather here is warming up so I can do more walking outside. I'm pretty proud of the progress I have made with weight lifting. I can see awesome definition in my shoulders, arms, and legs. I can't wait to see how much more muscular I will be when I lose the rest of this excess fat. You know how they say WLS leads to divorce? I always thought this wouldn't happen to me. And it hasn't yet, but now that I know my true worth, the problems in my marriage are starting to make me question it. I feel like I deserve more than what he gives me. It has nothing to do about wanting someone else, because I don't. In fact, I don't think I'd want to date again, at least for a very long time. My husband and I have been married for 10 years. We've had a lot of ups and downs, and at this point I feel like he's more with me because of all I do for him and that I keep him on track doing the right thing. He's had issues with being responsible in his life before we met. It makes me feel like I'm his mom, not his wife. And I don't have or want kids! He doesn't help out around the house enough and isn't very attentive to me. I want to feel loved and special, I think I deserve that. So we're in therapy together working on things. I care about him, I just don't know if he can give me what I need. I don't even want/need much, I am not a high-maintenance gal! That's all for now, I'm planning on Journaling more often here as I continue working towards my weight goal.

Guys who started over 400 lbs.

Not a full member of the 400 club but I have been knocking at the door last couple of years. I wish I would have found this forum sooner; I would have been more confident in 2019 and had WLS instead of losing weight at a weight loss boot camp only to see the weight return with a vengeance. Reading the successes of men who have a longer weight loss journey then I do is very inspirational and provides valuable insight on what to expect once I get “sleeved” this coming April. Congratulations to everyone who has made significant progress, have lost weight and most important… have kept it off!
  8. Yes, I’ve had that experience as well. Some days even measuring doesn’t matter - it depends on what it is that I’m eating. I’ve started to only eat about 2/3 of what I’ve measured out. Then I wait about 5-10 mins, and if I don’t get that “I’ve eaten too much” feeling, I’ll eat the rest. Sometimes I don’t bother eating the rest even if I’m not full, but I try to if it’s rich in protein.

  10. I had surgery 10/24 and I'm down 60lbs. I'm doing well and enjoying new adventures. I try to get out of the house on weekends to avoid sitting around and snacking, plus I get extra steps in. I'm still 20lbs from the doctor's goal and 60 from my goal, so I still have a long way to go. But I'm excited to be on this journey! Cheers everyone Sent from my SM-G973U using BariatricPal mobile app
  11. Had surgery 10/1 and have lost a total of 60lbs. Feeling great! I’m currently at 137lbs. Only 22lbs from my high end goal, and 27lbs from my final goal.

Any WLS peeps from 2014 still around?

I’m here. Sleeved 9/2014. Lost 130 lbs. And gained 15 over the last two years. Still exercising daily, tracking and fighting hard. Working to get at least 10 back off. Currently struggling with lack of energy. Like total lethargy. I can get to gym do about 70% of my normal workout and then I’m spent for the rest of the day. Like can’t function tired. I’ve got a call into my dr cause this just isn’t right. Time for bloodwork. My eating isn’t perfect by a long shot but nothing that should cause this. Has anyone else experienced this? Even though I religiously take all my vitamins. I think it either, Menopause starting Iron, B, or thyroid. But those are just my guesses. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ As long as it’s fixable 🤞🤞 Hope everyone else is doing great. Still do grateful for my tool.

    Dehydrated And Low Blood sugar

You need to drink even though you aren't hungry or thirsty. I forced myself to drink every time there was a commercial on TV or someone on TV took a drink. I also set goals: Get X ounces in before 10, etc... You may also want to call your surgeons office if you are feeling jittery, etc... Some people have to go get a round of IV fluids if they aren't getting the fluids in they need.
  16. I have lost 10 pounds in 8 days. I’ll take it, hope it keeps falling off quick, I’ve got 70 more to go.
  17. For those who had Robotic Gastric Bypass, how many days did you stay in the hospital including your surgery date? I was told if all goes well and I am scheduled for the surgery in the AM which I am scheduled for 10:30 am, I will be discharged the next afternoon as long as I am keeping fluids down.
  18. It's great to see how everyone is doing. I am one of the few Sleever's that have experienced dumping syndrome. I have had 3 episodes in the past 3 weeks or so. I am trying to do better by eating less and eating slower. With regard to my stats, I had surgery on 12/9/19 and I have lost 34.3 lbs since having surgery. I have lost 43.6 pounds overall. I am currently 163.2 pounds. I am having the most "issue" with my hair loss. I have very curly hair and it makes me very sad to see it falling out in clumps. I know there is nothing I can do about it, especially since my labs were perfect. Still makes me sad though.

I know it’s not the same pose same clothes .... 12/18/19 was sleeve. I only go to the gym (I’m a stay at home mom to 5,4,3,2yr olds) no one suspects I’m sick- since they see me in the gym at all hours . One spin instructor even made a comment I should teach spin since I’m doing it all the time ... So yes, I give a damn. Someone comments on ianother persons weight loss in front of me and doesn’t say a word about mine ... rant in rant and raves ... drop mic 🎤

      Absolutely.

I think it's a good example for the pendulum coming to the middle after having swayed into the opposite direction first (obese - skinny).

I see so many people on here giving the impression of being down right obsessed.

  22. After being successful for 10 years with the lap band I will be having a revision surgery from band to RNY In early April. The need for revision is like so many others, slipped band and awful GERD that ultimately required deflating and has resulted in my gaining almost all of my pre band weight back. :( My weight struggle had/have a lot to do with the fact that I just simply do not ever feel full. I can eat crazy amounts of food because I just never get a message in my brain that I’m full. The band changed that IMMEDIATELY! I believe that’s why I had such great success, because I knew very quickly if I’d eaten to much or too big of a bite and full was a sensation I finally recognized. As soon as the band was deflated, I went right back to having no sense of fullness and could eat as much and as long as I chose. It’s like I have no shut off valve. My question is this; What does being full feel like after bypass, as in long term, not during the recovery period. Do you know immediately if you’ve taken too big of a bite or haven’t chewed well? Do you stop eating because you know you’re full? As in, “whew I can’t take another bite!” and you don’t even want to, because you feel full! Thanks for any insight!

    February 2020 Post-Op Thread

My surgery was 2/10, and this week I GAINED A POUND AND A HALF!!!! I am trying not to overreact; I have been weighing and/or measuring everything; I have met my protein goals every day, my liquids have been between 48 and 60, I am walking every day, slowly trying to gain some stamina. I have bad arthritis in both knees, and I walk several times a day for 10 to 15 minutes, and get up every hour and walk a bit. I went back to work this week, which seemed to make it easier to fall into a rhythm. I track everything on My Fitness Pal, including my vitamins. My calories have ranged from a low of 480 to a high of 632. I am on soft foods, and am eating things like 2 oz. of rotisserie chicken, 2 slices of deli turkey breast with 1 tbsp. of low fat cheddar cheese rolled up in the slices. I have to just keep the faith, but boy is this frustrating!!!!
