Don’t worry we will slowly meet our goals you just need to make sure you don’t get dehydrated. I hate water so I am doing sugar free apple juice. Check with your doctor and if it’s ok that would be much easier than water. For protein I got protein yogurt and it’s tasty and easy to swallow.

February 2023 surgery dates!

I see in the recipes they gave. One has powdered peanut butter and then the other one doesn't specify if it's regular or powder so maybe I'm allowed. Lol I'm gonna check the recipe again. It's funny cause some stuff has sugar that I'm allowed and it doesn't bother me. Like the yogurt I get -
I switched to the BariMelts and have been doing a lot better with them. Why are they not recommended by your doctor? the protein shakes and powders that I was able to tolerate before surgery now make me sick even thinking about. The powders all smell and taste horrible to me. And the shakes are so thick that they just don’t sit well with me. I will have to try the yogurt!!!!

25 gram Protein yogurt: Ratio
Kris Poole replied to Jonathan Carlson's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am past the liquid phase and have been totally failing on my protein goals. It's actually been hard for me to eat and drink period. Long story but I'm totally weak and falling asleep all the time. I can't stand Greek yogurt. It tastes like eating sour cream to me but I will give this a whirl since someone said it doesn't really taste like a typical Greek yogurt. Thanks for sharing. I really wish I could get down with Greek yogurt. It is just too bitter/sour too me. -
25 gram Protein yogurt: Ratio

I assume this is Greek yogurt since it has so much protein? -
I get it. Like @Starwarsandcupcakes, sometimes I too just don’t feel hungry. And other times I didn’t feel like cooking (think this is common for most people some times & I only cook for myself not a family). I know I still need to consume something nutritious so on not hungry days I’ll have yogurt for lunch (easier to eat & digest than a proper ‘meal’) &/or I’ll skip snacks. On the don’t feel like cooking days, I go to my freezer where I have lots of single serve meals. Then it’s simply a matter of reheating & microwaving a few vegetables. I always prep enough food for 3 or 4 meals & will freeze 1 or 2 of them. This week I made zucchini noodle bolognese which I’ll eat for a few days & I froze four servings I can eat in the future. @NP_WIP, have you tried to find some meals everyone in your family will eat so you only have to cook one dinner or keep some of the meal the same for everyone. I know it can be difficult with different dietary needs but even if you can do it a couple of times a week it would be easier for you.

Gastric bypass 2/15/23. Weight Loss question.
Jonathan Carlson posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a successful surgery 12 days ago. My only complication was high blood pressure, so I was in Tobey Hospital (Southcoast) for 2 nights. I'm down about 28 lbs, which is a loss of 2+ lbs per day. Is this normal? I started at 386lbs. I'm not eating much. I get my protein from Fairlife Elite shakes (42g) and :Ratio yogurt (25g). Other than that, I have tea, jello, pudding and broth. Anyway, looking forward to stage 4 foods! Sent from my SM-G981U1 using Tapatalk -
I had surgery on 2/15/23 and I'm in the liquids phase. These yogurts are helping me with my protein goal along with Fairlife Elite shakes (42g protein). The yogurt flavors I've seen at Target and Stop & Shop include blueberry, strawberry, key lime and coconut. They're about $1.70 ea i think.

I'm constantly sipping something all day long to meet my goals. By the time I can finish a protein shake, then have some water, it's now time for a snack, so I'll have a bit of yogurt, more water, now it's lunch time so I warm up some soup and so on throught the day. I'm worried about developing a bad habit of constantly "eating/swollowing" something. I'm able to meet my protein/water goals barely by working at it all day.

The Vanilla Oikos Greek yogurt is amazing with 2 tbsp of PB2 powder. It tastes like peanut butter fluff! Those help keep me full when I'm tired of protein shakes! Congrats ont he 18 lbs down so far!

Hi Krasavitza, Im on day 13 of 14 on a liquid diet. I went with the milk and yogurt diet. I had also the option of 2 shakes and 300cal meal with extra veg. But the first was easier to go with. Day 3 is hardest, but after that it gets so much easier. Spoke to my bariatric nurse on friday and she said as Id lost 20lb in 10 days to swap out some of my yogurts and add a 300cal dinner. So if after a week you are still struggling speak to your nurse to see what options you have or swap outs you can do. Good luck, you’ve got this [emoji1303] Sent from my SM-A528B using BariatricPal mobile app

What should I be eating??
pintsizedmallrat replied to claireJennians's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
At 10 weeks I was still on purees and was eating a lot of soft scrambled eggs, greek yogurt, refried beans and various soups. -
Surgery 2/10. First 24 hours was pretty rough with the gas but lots of laps in the hospital helped. During the two week postop diet, I was struggling with fluids and protein because I was just so over it. I’m not stressing about it. I just do what I can. I’m now 16 days postop and it’s easier to get my fluids in but I’m still so sick of protein shakes. I found Oikos Greek yogurt with 15 grams of protein. The vanilla flavor is amazing…. Yum! I’m on puréed diet for the past three days, threw up twice just eating too fast because I was starving. But now I have adjusted to eating more slowly so I don’t throw up. The only issue I have is the bariatric vitamins. I’ve been taking the chewable ones and they are absolutely awful and they make me vomit. I’ve taken them on a full stomach too, and they still make me sick. I’m trying to find a good vitamin to take that doesn’t upset my stomach. I just ordered the Barimelts which I know are not recommended by my doctor, but they are known to be gentler on the stomach, so something is better than nothing. I have the calcium chews and those are fine. Does anyone have a good vitamin that they like it doesn’t make them sick? Also, I’m down 18 pounds and I’m fine with that as I am a lower BMI.

February 2023 surgery dates!
Rdy4Change replied to Erin18's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The dietitian shared that I could mix my protein drink as a creamer for decaf coffee in the morning and mix to thin out my Greek yogurt. This helped me. I was okay with the shakes occasionally before having the surgery. Now I am tired of them. They do offer the unflavored protein powder to mix in soups. It'll be better once you move into the pureed stage. You're half way there! -

Surgery was 2/23, and I was feeling pretty good and getting my specialty water in, even 4 oz each day of home made bone broth. I somehow missed the clear protein options however and today I’ve been super weak and light headed. Managed 3 oz of yogurt and protein drink with 42 grams. Finally got in a shower and now I’m exhausted. It’s a beautiful day today and I was hoping to take a little walk, but I’m not going to get far at all! How is everyone else the first week post op? -
March 10 started 2 week liquid diet today. Only allowed sugar free drinks, water, protein shakes and for snack a few choices of vegetables its been really rough so far/ how bad would it be if you cheat? i just want a boiled egg or some tuna salad. I’m so not a sweet person I need something savory. Even plain Greek yogurt will do

I feel pretty great at the moment. My stomach only feels sore and the gas is what I'm feeling more as well. Let me know how the pureed food go for you! I feel like I'll be eating a lot of sugar free Popsicles. Is that what it felt like when you took a drink or ate jello/yogurt like air goes down then it comes back up? The Dr said it was normal
-
Thank you, today was a lot better than. Yesterday, I was even able to sleep. I asked the surgeon if it was normal, he said yes. I can't drink the protein shake tho, it tastes Nasty. Got more water down than yesterday and a little more than. Half if the yogurt. It's weird feeling full after that

Anyone super shaky one month post op?
summerseeker replied to susanjane111's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had this when I was not drinking enough, and eating enough calories because of a swollen suture line in my new tummy. Then I had it again when I had dropped a lot of weight and needed to come off my blood pressure medication, I just didn't need it anymore. I had it randomly yesterday morning when I got out of bed too quickly and got busy. I ate some yogurt and had a large milky coffee and I was fine. When I am out I always take a protein bar in case this happens when I have skipped a meal -
What did you feel like the night you had surgery to 2 days post op? Anybody feel discomfort? Does it feel like you're swallowing air when you drink anything or eat yogurt/jello? I'm feeling this. I'm going to tell my surgeon in the morning when he checks in. I hope it's a normal feeling. It definitely feels restricted. Hopefully all I'm feeling is gas...gas that won't come, just tiny burps. I'm scared to eat jello and yogurt, I only took a few bites. I was so scared.

I feel good most days but if I'm falling too far behind on protein or not drinking enough water I find myself getting terrible migraines that last for days. I'd say I'm not doing my best at eating real "meals". I work 10 hours a day and mostly just pack my lunch bag with high protein snacks. Cheese sticks, turkey jerky, cottage cheese cups, mixed nuts, kind bars (I buy the protein version), dried edamame beans, yogurt smoothies (the brand Two Good makes low sugar yogurt drinks with 10 grams of protein) those are a few favorites in my daily rotation. One of my favorite things to make for dinner is turkey taco meat. I mix a can of red beans into the meat for even more protein and top with 1/4 cup of shredded cheese. -
A had a LOT of yogurt and Turkey chili. This combination sounds weird but I also had cottage cheese with marinara sauce and heat it up in the microwave. Cottage cheese is much more satisfying for me than ricotta and it was just as delicious. I also had a lot of Aloha protein bars, they’re my favorite and they’re soft and not too chewy.

tuna salad, egg salad, chicken salad. I used part mayo / part yogurt / or mashed avocado as a binder. I made some hearty soups /soft stews in my crock pot ( chicken and carrots, green beans, some white beans, tomato paste) and put them in small containers in the freezer (like the extra small ones that you can get at the market like 6 or 8 in a package). Those I could heat and eat at work. I would pack two "lunches" as I ate such a small amount - I needed two ! Also of course, yogurt, soft cheeses, melon, applesauce.
