    Non Scale Victories

I realized today I am fitting into a pair of one size fits most leggings. The NSV was super helpful as I’m in a very slow loss cycle.

Hey Hey Hey I've got an NSV! Getting ready yesterday to go to Columbus for my bi-weekly Stoma Stretching at OSU, Dr Noria says We Are Making Gains! think she is optimistic, but let's SEE IF SHE IS CORRECT! Anyhoo I had put my bra in to be washed so dug in my indie drawer for a fresh one, A 42B and it FIT! For so long I have bought what I could find, added bra extenders so the band would be large enough. First stock size in years! + What I have said before, I AM NOT,a woman or Miss size, I am a terribly bloated Junior, a 27 or 29, for a woman in the 270s a B cup,is NOT LARGE! This is Why i should aim for a 15! But power to this rapidly defating Plump Princess!

    Do you feel more attractive?

@Kay07 You should feel good about yourself. Eating healthy, 5K and rocking high heels. (1) So yeah I am working on that. Did any of you struggle with reevaluating your relationship with yourself? Do you view yourself as a project in the works? This transformation is more than physical. I used my time at the gym or walking to process the mental side of WLS. I had to let go of all the negative messages from others and myself about my weight. I had to process how differently people are simply because of weight loss. I found that I was an adrenaline junkie love a challenge. I am also the same core person with the same values. Interesting that many of us share the experience of not knowing how to take compliments. I was used to being invisible to the opposite sex. It's a bit unnerving when suddenly they are showing attraction. It takes time to get used to. Its ok to feel awkward my compliment scale appropriate - Say thank you and move on. hilarious - They'll make great NSV. Please share them inappropriate /creepy - Depending on the situation I confront them. Know that it's ok to feel good about the way you look and feel. Have fun and experiment with clothing you want to wear. Find your own style. Life is short. Rock your bad@ss self. We are all a work in progress. Never stop. Keep growing and changing in life. (2) For those of you who hit goal or are maintaining, did you decide that because you felt like you hit it, or because you hit the number you set? How long did it take you to feel comfortable in your new skin? I pulled my goal weight of 140 out of thin air. I worked my program to get to reach it and beyond. Nothing magic, it was the work put in. First year after goal. I hid from mirrors and cameras for years. I had to work on seeing myself smaller. I would still move around people as if I was larger and didnt want my hip to bump into them.*laughing* Just a bunch of small things like that. After the first year my mind caught up with the weight loss.

  6. Great news - I had food today! Like real food; not mushies. Well for two of three meals. I’m really excited. I thought I’d never get through the soft stage. I’m a little worried because I had melted cheese but hope it’ll be ok. Still can’t keep vitamins down but think I’ll move to capsules soon. Just sharing my NSV for the day.

    Weight loss

One of the hardest things (and there are many) that I'm finding is to NOT compare your losses with anyone else. It will outright depress you. Everyone's different. Me? I'm going through my first MAJOR stall and it's killing me lol. I lost 34lbs by my 6 week post op, so I was thrilled... but I'm about 2 months and a week or so post op now and I've only lost a total of 8lbs this past month compared to the first month (down a total of 42 now). But for the last 3 almost 4 weeks id been fluctuating bad. I try to weigh myself every Friday. For a couple weeks of this stall I actually gained a couple lbs (so I was back towards 249-250), but today I weighed myself again and I'm back at 245. So it's this dumb up and down a lb here and there stall. I've upped my protein, upped my water intake...still stall. I'm praying it'll pass (I hear everywhere it will) but it's horrrrrrrrible. Just try to stay away from the negatives and focus on non scale victories. For example, I've been going to the gym for the past 3 weeks and that also can account for a stall (maybe im not increasing water enough, maybe it's muscle mass, who knows)..but also for the first time yesterday I bought a shirt in an XL. Dude, I used to wear 3x t shirts all the time...before surgery (and some post op) i was confortably wearing 2x's. Some still fit, other's look frumpy cause they were too big but a 1x/xl type shirt was still too snug so i was inbetween sizes. Now, I can't wear comfortably ALL xl/1x shirts...but I did buy 2 that fit nicely and look awesome. HUGE NSV! Focus on those...they'll help you mentally get through these rough periods.
  8. Hang in there, you are doing great. It's the head hunger and getting used to eating so differently that I struggled with the longest. I had a hard time with water and found the tropical punch protein waters and that was life changing as I didn't want shakes at that point. Get your rest and get ready for a wonderful year where everyday you will likely have a little nsv if you look for it. I'm excited for you! Cheers.

Nsv Buy jeans of the rack and they always fit Not being able to buy pants at Costco because I was too big and now because I'm too small Walk around a crowded room without stress Got scuba certified and was actually the smallest there, blew my mind as this is a dream come true. I'm going on a diving excursion by myself and not stressed, boom. I went zip lining in Costa Rica I actually will eat in front of others, huge for me I'm not worried about being judged for my grocery cart I no longer wish to be or feel invisible I tuck my shirts in I love getting dressed up and going to events I can talk with anybody and be present and not focused on negative thoughts I can enjoy social settings again I can swim for hours at a time again I am not afraid of failing anymore because of my weight I am more aware of others needs and am more able to help them. When somebody drops something I quickly pick it up for them. I saved ten bucks on flannel pj pants because instead of the adult xxl I used to wear I fit into a youth size I say yes to adventures now I have the courage to say no too without beating myself up The negative self talk is being replaced with thoughts of gratitude Food is finally just food again
  10. A small NSV: I had a meeting on the third floor of a building without an elevator today, and I was only breathing a little faster (as opposed to being totally winded) when I got to the top.

  11. News Flash! Frustr8 weight has lowered. to 290 pounds, 7 weeks post and I have lost 53 pounds since July 31st. Never could have done this without my Bariatric tool. God Bless you Bradley J Needleman, you and your surgical staff have performed a miracle. Well I helped a little, my stricture kept my liquid portions small, whoever wants to claim credit, just go ahead! I think I may be finally going down in clothing size, granted there is still an X after it, but I believe it to be a mention-worthy NSV!😛😛

    Mommies getting sleeved

Not selfish to get healthy and treating a disease. You will be modeling this lifestyle for your kids. They will be learning your habits of eating healthy and activity/exercise. One of my NSVs is keeping up with my active 3 year old grandson and 5 month old granddaughter. Congrats on your upcoming surgery.

    Non Scale Victories

I went to Oktoberfest and walked around for about an hour and a half, I had a sample of sauerkraut (and when i say sample I mean only one or two strings) and a sip of pumpkin beer, it was interesting. My knee did not like all of the walking however, I did all of it, I did try to get a ride from the entrance to the shuttle and I could not get anyone to assist with that. I walked the whole way. My knee was so sore. I came home and I actually was able to do some peddling for 10 minutes after I rested for an hour. I drank a protein shake before I left and had water at the fest, I had cottage cheese when I got home. I am a little sore, but I survived. The whole day is a NSV for me.

First 2 NSV: I fit into a pair of jeans that I haven't been able to fit in 3 years! And they actually fit well. There was no sucking in or squeezing involved. I was able to zip closed my north face jacket I have never been able to zip closed. I bought it last year on clearance ($20!!). I haven't been able to buy a winter jacket I could close in years (short with an oversized bottom). Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Non Scale Victories

I’m actually tucking in my shirts into my pants/skirts. I haven’t done this in years. I’m so used to leaving them out and maybe having a belt/waist cincher. I’ve actually bought a few more to help make shirts more wearable a little longer. Last night I went on an hour walk and covered like 4 miles. Old me couldn’t have done that. This stall is kicking my butt and these NSV’s are super helpful.

This isn’t precisely a NSV, but - everyone hugs me now? EVERYONE. It’s fine with me, I’m cool with hugs, but I am also onto you people: I know you’re partly hugging me to see if I’ve actually lost weight or if I’m just wearing optical-illusion clothes! They're not being mean or weird about it, and half of it is they’re happy to see me looking so much more confident, so the hug is genuine exuberance - but I know you’re feeling up my rib cage for scaffolding, friends. ...and the heels in the airport were totally worth it and surprisingly comfortable. Also I ran out of room for them in my suitcase and had to wear them to meetings, so what the heck.

    NSV

Other than me regularly marveling at how little I eat, I just produced my first garbage bag full of clothes that are too baggy now. It feels good to be donating and making room in my closet! The best part is I am still relatively new so I know there are many more NSVs to come!

    Non-food rewards

I'm still pre-op but I set up the following NSV milestones: 55lbs golf lessons 65lbs dance lessons 75lbs standup comedy or voice lessons 85lbs SCUBA certification 95lbs a used set of golf clubs 105lbs a SCUBA trip to Monterey

    Non Scale Victories

So I’ve been struggling with my longest slow/stall and feeling frustrated. Adding in that yesterday I went to use my recumbent bike and I was exhausted after 7 minutes when last week I did 35 with no problem. I put on a shirt I bought 2 months ago that was tight in the arms/shoulders but today didn’t strain one bit (wohoo bat wings!). Add in that my size 14 dress pants from Lane Bryant are hitting the loose phase became a very much needed NSV. Now today the sun is out and I’m hoping to work in the yard when I get home from work.

A couple of NSV this past week... 1. Fit into my old favorite bathing suits (size 12s & 14s) - Was able to retire my "new" big girl suits for my old fashionable ones 2. Bought a appropriate US size (#'d) Harley Davidson capris (reality, they were US size 12/14 - and must've been UK sizing) a couple years back and they never fit.... tried them on for giggles the other day and they buttoned 3. tried on a pair of old jean capri's today - haven't been able to wear in 3 years.... FIT....:D
