    Discouraged, not losing!

Sounds like the dreaded 3-week stall which you can find on the boards with a search. Sounds like you're doing great. Just stick to your plan & the weight will come off.
  2. It is probably a combination of the steroids and the 3 week stall. My "3 week stall" actually started at week 2 1/2 and lasted 3 weeks. It eventually broke and I've been pretty steady since. For Protein, I like the Premier Protein shakes in Chocolate and Latte (if your Dr. is OK with caffeine). You can find them at Costco as well as online.

    Day 13. Gutting it out.

Just keep following doctors orders. You will get out of this with time. (You can remind me of this next week when I hit the 3 week stall) We had surgery on the same day and I lost 8 pounds the first week and 4 the second. I started on pureed foods on day 6 and soft on day 11. I was so glad I did not have to stay on liquids as long as you and others. Today is the first day I met my protein goal, but have been meeting my liquid goal since day 4. I sure hope it gets better for you!

How I broke my latest stall

the 3 week stall happens to most people. Your body needs to adjust. Never fear it will pass I know it is hard to believe that but its true. I stall all the time. This last stall lasted for almost a month. I no longer get upset as I know this is how I lose. I will stall for quite a while and then lose a bunch. I don't mind it as long as I know I am still having the times when I lose. I know my body will lose weight with the amount of calories I consume in a day. Just think back to what we used to eat in a day and look where we are now!! Good luck!
  5. I had vsg on 3/31 and on surgery day was 227 today I am at 202 [emoji20] Sometimes I feel a little discouraged, but then remember everyone is different and everyones plan is different. My surgeons plan has us on soft foods within 2 day. Liquids are only in the hospital, I left the hospital eating greek yogurt, cottage cheese and stuff like that. The one thing I am hoping for is that since weight loss is slower but steady, maybe I wont lose much hair, lol. Just follow your dr's plan and let your tool do it's work. Just think in 6 months if you lose steadily you will be down at least 50 lbs. Dont sweat the stalls either, I had an almost 3 week stall about 9 days after surgery, that was a little torture on the mind, but it also passed. Good Luck on your journey!! The 3rd Week Stall

@@thbrown223 I had the infamous 3 week stall that lasted 2 weeks and then again at 3 months. I have had so many that I cannot even count. The longest one was at 8 months and lasted 5 weeks. When I say a stall, I mean NO weight lost at all during that period of time. If I lost a pound it was not a stall. There are also times when you will lose a pound then gain it back then lose it again. It is simply part of the process that we go through. During that 5 week stall I actually had to stay off the scale because it actually frustrated me. Normally I don't let the scale dictate how I feel but that time I will admit I was very frustrated. Then all of a sudden wham I will drop weight again. I stall out now after I drop 10lbs. Then I go back and forth and it all begins again.

    The 3rd Week Stall

whenever I have a good wt. loss I seem to stall a week as my body catches up. the 3 week stall was the worse. but I kept doing what I was doing knowing I was eating correctly and than the stall broke and I had a nice wt. loss. my doctor reminds me that if I have a stall for any length of time to look for hidden calories that I might be eating and not counting it enough. like in serving sizes etc. just remember basics and you will be fine
  9. Ok guys..... (Ive posted this on OH) but decided to post it here as well.... The inevitable happened. Got on the scale this morning, not only am I "stalled" I guess. I am up 3 LBS! LOL How the heck does that happen?? When you work out at least 4 days a week and consume less than 700 calories per day. I must add that I was sleeved on 9-15-09 and have lost 30 lbs, well, 27 since I gained 3 lbs back. I see posts about this ALL the time but gosh, until it happens to you.....you really dont know what it feels like! Also. TOM is usually between the 12th and 15th of the month, so that could be why im retaining.........This really sucks!!!! Just venting. Help, I knew it would happen, just didnt know how horrible I would feel when I did. Thanks for listening!:001_tongue:

3MONTH ROLL CALL...HOW MUCH ARE YOU DOWN

Feeling a little defeated, it's been 8 weeks and I have only lost 23 lbs. I had an unbearable 2-3 week stall but thankfully that's over. Trying to stay positive but it's hard when my expectations are so high.
  11. I finally hit 50 pounds lost today!!!! It's exactly 3 months since my surgery and I'm down 1 clothing size, 1 ring size, and 50 pounds!!!! It seems like my body likes to do a 2-3 week stall every month and a half or so, so it's been slow going. But it FINALLY happened today. WooHoo!!!!!

    What was the point?

I am six weeks out today..and trust me..I was in your exact place a few weeks ago...I did not lose anything weeks 2-4..I even gained a few pounds back and forth..but I would never go lower than what I lost in my first 1-2 weeks..Then in week 4 I got my monthly visit from..AF...which even made it worse..I cried and was so depressed week 2-4..but I noticed that towards the end of my period..the scale stayed the same...that's when I knew..finally!!!..as soon as this is done..the scale has to go down...and sure enough it did...another 5 pounds within the next three days... Just stay on track..and you will get stuck along the way..but don't give up...your body just needs time to adjust to the weight loss..and not feel like you are in starvation mode..imagine..you just lost over 20 lbs..in such a short period of time..your body is like what???..no way..I'm saving everything...and that's what it does..until the weeks go by and your body adjusts..and then it feels ok to continue.. I was very upset and kept reading about the 3 week stall..and didn't believe I was in a stall..I thought I was just stopped..and the scale would never move again...but just don't focus so much on the scale..but instead on how you are feeling..losing over 20 lbs..is amazing..just know..it won't end there..sometimes you won't lose anything for a few days or weeks..then all of a sudden you will drop..just continue and have faith..and you will see things will get better and you will begin to feel better about your decision and your new life.
  13. Hello! I started pre-op Nov 17, surgery Dec 1st. I started at 429 and am now 377. I have been stuck for almost 3 weeks at this weight. No changes in measurements or clothing. Nothing has changed. I am getting beyond frustrated. I try and meet protein and water goals every day, but that doesn't always happen. I have tried upping different things( carbs, fat, protein, etc) with no change. Please tell me this is normal? I have heard of the 3 week stall, but this is ridiculous [emoji24] Sent from my SM-N986U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

    What was the point?

Just because you can eat a whole serving of cream of wheat doesn't mean you should eat a whole serving. You may not be able to feel your fullness yet because you are not totally healed and the nerves in your stomach are still healing. Follow your guidelines and measure your food according to your plan. I still do not eat 1000 calories a day at almost 9 months out. Once you move onto solid Proteins you will feel full so much quicker and eat less. You have reached the infamous 3 week stall....this too shall pass, I promise you.

Updating my journal - Got my 3rd fill on Friday (7/6/07), was raised to 3.5cc's and I now feel like I have less restriction than I did before. So weird. I called my dr. and they are scheduling me for an upper GI tomorrow. I hope everything is okay. I have lost another 2 lbs - weight now finally to 176! I've been on a 3 week stall maybe even 4 weeks. Still exercising, but have slacked this last week. Planning on doing my LBWO tonight. I'm also very nausiated right now. I went to the gym on Saturday morning, and was working out and thought I was going to barf on the elliptical machine. I'm not sure what is going on, very weird.

After a 3 week stall, i want that weight to come off! Thanks for listening and hello to all. 01.01.2010 Highest weight 289 03.18.2010 Day of surgery 262 05.29.2010 Current weight 217 Dr. Van Wagner in St. Louis, MO at St Alexius Hospital

Talk to me about the week 3 stall

It can be. I, personally, did not experience a 3 week stall.

    What the heck happened?!

You are experiencing the famous 3 week stall. Do a search, there's probably 1,000 posts about it. Go to the link Inner Surfer Girl provided for a good explaination. Just keep doing what you're doing other than STAY OFF THE scale. Your weight will fluctuate thoughout this process and if you aren't prepared to accept that then you are better off not weighing at all. You don't need a scale to lose weight. You only need to follow the plan. I don't even own a scale and I lost over 100% of my excess weight.

    May 7th

I had minr may 7 th as well. I to had the 3 week stall even gained. But I'm two months out and judt got out of a three week stall. I've done pretty good though. 49 lbs down. Only 8 to onderland. I was dehidrated maybe that's why I stalled.
  23. I gained a few pounds when I hit my first TOM after surgery (which coincided with the 3 week stall) and again when I ate too much salty ham over Christmas. Both times the weight came off after a couple of days, but if I hadn't been weighing myself obsessively every day (sometimes more than once -- I can't help it!) I wouldn't have noticed and stressed over it. It can be very depressing when you're watching the scale so closely and the pounds don't drop off as fast as expected. I'm trying to "forget" to weigh myself in the mornings because, if the scale didn't have good news, it tends to wreck my whole day. I know this journey isn't just about the weight but I'd be lying if I said that's not a huge part of it, and I haven't been at this long enough to see a significant improvement in my other weight-related co-morbidities. I keep reminding myself that, at my current level of calorie intake, there is no possible way I can't lose weight, however slowly. If I track my food and keep the calorie level down, then the weight will have to come off eventually.
  24. I was sleeved September 27th. Down 40 lbs as of today. I am just starting to lose again after a 3 week stall.....finally!!!!

    getting really frustrated.

Hang in there, I too hit the dreaded 3 week stall, gained 2 or so lbs, and got stuck for EIGHT DAYS! Omg. I was so extremely frustrated and cried more that once. I checked this website every day for tips and even called my nutritionist. And ya know, all though all of that was supposed to make me feel better, I think that by the time I was done soliciting all the advice, my body was ready to lose again! Since that time, I have gone down about 20 lbs. And it just seems to be falling off. My best advice is stay positive, stay active, and keep up your Water and Protein and vitamins! You WILL succeed! hugs to you!
