Do male loose weight faster than female?

My experience with weight loss and men is yes they do lose weight faster than women. No matter what diet or exercises they do. NOT FAIR, lol but do what surgeon and dietitian tells you and be amazed. Not sure if guy's get what they call a 3 week stall like the women do but don't get discouraged if it happens. .. 2. @@katie09/21/2016 I've seen hundreds of posts from people (including me) who have eaten all their Protein, taken Biotin, Zinc, Omega 3, stood on their heads and did a rain dance, and NONE of it prevented hair loss. So a surgeon patting someone on the head and telling them to just eat their protein and take their Vitamins and they won't lose any hair IS FULL OF CRAP. Believe it or not, they don't know everything. Most of the time they know NOTHING about what happens to us after they operate. I mean, just the fact that none of them even mention the 3 week stall tells me that. If they spent the hours and hours on these forums like a lot of us do here, they might actually learn a thing or two, lol.

    September Sleevers!

Anyone struggling with hunger? As in, being non existent? I'm cleared for soft foods/mushies and I'm struggling to get it in. One egg scrambled with a bit of cheese, takes me about an hour. I know it's supposed to be 20 minutes with no grazing, but I have to in order to get anything in. I hit fluid goals (finally) but not Protein and am nowhere near my 800 calorie goal. I've hit the 3 week stall as well, if that makes a difference. I just can't get enough in because I have 0 interest in food.
  4. Hello everyone!! Today is my first day here. Sleeved on 12-28-15 aka my second "birthday" I have been at a stall again. I feel like the queen of 3 week stalls and by that I mean I stall every three weeks for three weeks at a time. So frustrating because I'm getting married in June and the only thing my fiancé is talking about is to have children after that. I'm not ready.... I want us to go do things and meet people and ride roller coasters and just normal skinny people things. Trying to just vent out my frustrations in a safe place. Weight loss stalls

The 3 week stall. Most people get it. You can search it here. There are hundreds of posts on it. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  6. Started liquids 9/4, sleeved 9/19. Lost 14 pre-op, 6 post-op, but scale hasn't budged. Is this the stall I hear about? I'm not freaking out or upset, just mind blown to stall one week post-op!

    Weight loss is slow

10lbs in 2 weeks after IV Fluid that probably pumped you with another 5lbs is pretty good. I had surgery may 10th. On may 20th I had a 10lb weight loss. Except my weight was 389lbs. So at your weight you shod be extremely happy. Dont forget the 3 week stall you are going to or are experiencing. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    September 2016 Post VSG Updates

@@turtle5569 Stay off the scale for now! Weight fluctuates - your body needs time to adjust to all that's going on. Be sure to meet your Protein and Fluid goals. I am a gummie Vitamin person myself but will be switching post-op (too many carbs/sugars). It's right in time for the 3 week stall - so your Vitamins may not have anything to do with it. You've done excellent so far - keep it up!

    Weight gain post surgery. Help!

You are probably experiencing the dreaded 3 Week Stall. I couldn't find the link to the article about it but I'm sure someone will post it. Our bodies figure out that the calorie deficit we have forced upon it is going to be long-term and goes into starvation survival mode. I have not yet had surgery but I've read enough on this site to know this is very common and weight loss will continue.
  12. Wow @alliesjourney you have done great! My friend just got sleeved and lost 20lbs post op then went right into a 3 week stall. She just broke it. My appt is at 7:30am. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    3 week stall?

My 3 week stall is on week 4..../...no loss for 2 weeks...im fed up. I'm getting all my Protein and following the diet to a T, but nothing. It is so frustrating and depressing. I hope we both see some movement soon.
  14. I'm at 3 weeks and 2 days. I've lost 17 lbs in those 3 weeks, consistently losing around a lb a day. However the last 3 days I've stayed the same and even went up a pound. I've read of this 3 week stall and am terrified that my body is gonna stop losing weight. I'm gaining confidence by the day but would hate to stay like this. I know this forum is flooded with people needing reassurance but dang. I'm frustrated already. Ps, I finally feel normal post op-no pain and energy is back. Yay!! 15. It's very common - it's the 3 week stall! Your body is adjusting! Stick with the plan and you will lose weight! Stay off the scales for now. As long as you are meeting you Protein and Water goals you will lose!
  16. @@#BirdDog My plan allows for mashed potatoes too. I wouldn't have them too often - but the amount we eat shouldn't impact weight loss (from my perspective anyway). What you made sounds really good! You're right in time for the 3 week stall - so put the scale away and stick with your plan. Congrats on your success so far - 44 lbs is a great loss!
  17. 3 week stall is totally normal!!!! Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App
  18. My stall happened on Day 6 and lasted almost 2 weeks. Yesterday I woke up to a 3 pound weight loss and today a 1 pound weight loss. Everyone talks about a 3 week stall. I think I just hit mine early and it sounds like yours is right on time. Hang in there! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Stuck at the same weight

Yes, not just someone, almost everyone! You are in good company! It is completely normal to stall for a few weeks in the 2-4 weeks after surgery range. You can Google something like "3 week stall weight loss surgery" or "third week stall vsg" and you will see that it is 100% normal and you are not doing anything wrong. Your body just needs a little pause to catch up with what is going on. Stay off the scale for at least a few weeks, focus on following your program, and everything will be fine. Good luck!
  21. He told me Im doing well and not to worry about it. He told me the loss will be like steps and landings, not like a slide. Ive heard of the 3 week stall, but technically its been week 2 and 3 stall for me. I feel like im doing so well, not 1 cheat and doing everything possible and NOTHING. It will take a few days to get rid if the funk and the feeling that Ive wasted my time.
  22. @@frozengrapes Try not to get discouraged. This is the time for the 3 week stall. It's important to meet your protein and fluid goals (not just close) and the scale will move. Your body is adjusting. I hope your Dr explained that and told you to stay off the scale.

A weight plateau after 3 weeks?

@@JlainottawaSleeve Your body is going through an adjustment. It's typical to stall around 3 weeks (search 3 week stall). Be sure to meet Protein and Fluid goals every day and the weight will come off! Measure yourself and you'll probably notice you are still losing inches even though the scale isn't moving.

I Betty, I had my sleeve done 8/9/16 at the age of 62. Best choice I ever made for myself. Down about 50ps total between pre-op and now. Just got thru a 3 weeks stall and all. Down already 1/2 my blood pressure med. Love my new life. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using the BariatricPal App

    Why has the scale stopped?

I mean this in a totally kind way . . . the only thing you are doing wrong is not knowing that virtually everyone stalls between about weeks 3 and 5. Seriously. You can search the forums here for "three week stall" or even just do a basic Google search for "third week stall weight loss surgery" or "3 week stall vsg" or anything like that. You'll see that this is pretty much the most common thing ever after surgery. I think it is a shame that more surgeons don't educate their patients to expect it! You are not doing anything wrong with respect to eating, exercise etc. Just stay off the scale for 2-3 weeks (maybe measure yourself to see if you are losing inches -- yes it can be true that you lose inches but not pounds!). The weight loss will start up again I promise, and don't stress out or beat yourself up over doing anything "wrong." It sounds like you are doing incredibly well, but are stuck at the third week stall like we all were and all future wls patients will be. You are in good company
