I'm 25 days Post-Op and everything was going well until I reached soft foods. I keep experiencing minor heart burn/indigestion. I have had this things pre sleeve so I am familiar with the feeling however it seems to persist longer and longer each day. I am eating mild foods only and avoiding spice, citrus, and anything else known to give me heartburn but it seems that no matter what I eat it persists. Is this GERD or am I paranoid? It also seems that everything I eat lately (other than yogurt) has been leaving with me with a queasy feeling. Am I eating too quickly? Has anyone else experienced any of this? Thanks for your help!

teacupnosaucer replied to junesleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like the twisted cherry, crystal sky, and roadside lemonade flavors of Nectar. adding some extra citric acid to the roadside lemonade is the best! i do the chocolate truffle, strawberry mousse and vanilla bean torte ones either blended with ice or in smoothies with yogurt and fruit. -

Now that summer is here, it’s time to sharpen our grilling skills. Are you thinking burgers, hot dogs or chicken breasts? Well, think again. You can cook just about anything on the grill. Choose foods that are in your post-surgery diet phase. Find a recipe you like and then start grilling. Veggies can be grilled either on skewers or in a vegetable grill pan. Grill enough for leftovers during the week. Use a marinade for flavor and moisture. You can make your own marinade or use a low-fat dressing. A foil packet dinner is a great way to combine a protein, veggies and seasoning all wrapped up in foil makes for a quick clean up. Each person can customize the seasonings for individual preferences. Foil packet dinners are quite a trend right now and you’ll find many recipes on the internet. These leftovers are great to have for another meal, or 2 or 3 . . . Making a kebob is another quick and easy way to grill small portions of protein and vegetables. Protein sources can be chicken, turkey, fish, shellfish, pork or beef. You may want to grill veggies on a separate skewer since these take longer to cook. What about fruit kebobs or grilling fruit right on the hot grill surface? A mango and shrimp kebob is a great combination. You can also pair grilled fruit with light yogurt or use in a fruit salsa to top grilled meat. The possibilities are endless. WLS for a sugar/carb addict and binger?
jess9395 replied to Yettid's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Think foods that crush down to nothing.... chips, toast, crackers... they take up no real estate, so the amount you can eat far surpasses what you would imagine. What might take up 2-3 cups crush down to maybe 1/4 cup. They slide IN. Then you have the liquid type foods like broth and other things... for some people yogurt or ice cream or shakes... they side THROUGH. Sliders are foods you can eat more of than other more dense foods. -
I feel like its too soon!?
Julie norton replied to char3672's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mostly, I believe we figure out what our body tolerates the easiest. ( and is healthy). For whatever reason, I'm stuck on my home made split pea soup. Enough fiber and small bits of ham for protein.carrots for vege in there too I still eat fairly slow. And chew a lot. My protein bests: Fairlife milk. Yogurt BAKED tofu,. (Big difference) some nuts. Protein bars. Sometimes protein drinksSometimes eggs/ occasionally rejected ? String cheese Chicken thighs braised, fish After 10 years of experimenting, that is my go to list. Hope you find your list. It helps! -
MAY 17TH SLEEVERS????
SouthJerseySleever replied to salasmall's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm jumping in late, but I was May 17th, too! Happy 5 weeks to us! I weighed in today and I'm down 20 lbs on the nose from surgery day (39 from pre-surgery diet). I was hoping to get into the 2-teens by today, but I'll take 221 I'm eating everything except raw veggies and steak, though Martha Sugalski I really only eat the same few things (protein shake every morning, greek yogurt, tuna creations or chicken for lunch, cheese sticks for snacks and some kid of meat or fish for dinner. I'm still not enjoying food like I used to, eating seems more like a chore these days -- which is fine, it could be worse, right??? Hope you ladies are doing well! -

That's what happened with the egg! I thinkI would have been fine if I didn't have the yogurt too, I wanted to make sure I got the protein in. Next time JUST the eggs! I am going to try cheese this afternoon. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app -
Breakfast- GNC lean shake Morning Snack- Oikos Triple zero strawberry Greek yogurt Lunch- leftover instant pot crack chicken (modified with reduced fat cheese!) Afternoon Snack- turkey sausage stick and/or cheese stick Dinner- Still up in the air, but looking at finishing off some items in the fridge with a bacon ranch turkey wrap ( with carb balance tortilla, tomato, lettuce, ranch, deli turkey and turkey bacon!)

I was using isopure and am not. A huge fan of it...at my 3 month post op the doctor could tell I haven't been getting my protein like I should! Yesterday &I today I used the Sprouts (health food supermarket here in AZ) store brand of Whey protein and made fruit & yogurt smoothies and am doing ok with it. I would just do research and make sure your looking at the grams of protein vs the calories!!

I thinned my refried beans out with bone broth. As I progressed, I topped them with melted Trader Joe's lite cheese and a dollop of reduced fat Greek yogurt. Delicious [emoji39]. My (almost adult) niece agreed when I fed them to her after she had her tonsils out. Ah - and don't forget that hummus is also puréed beans, though I usually cut that with yogurt.

Not exactly sure
justme&mysleeve replied to justme&mysleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
EmmyJ I normally eat one egg with a tablespoon of turkey sausage crumbles and a tablespoon of low fat cheese for breakfast. Lunch is either a tuna packet or 2oz of deli meat with a light string cheese. I eat two snacks that are 80 calorie low fat Greek yogurt or 2 string cheeses (depends on if I had string cheese for lunch) and dinner is 2 to 2.5 oz of meat (chicken or pork) and 2 oz of a veggie. I normally drink a shake or a protein water in the evenings. Sound good? I'm really starting to 2nd guess myself. [emoji848] -
I'll tell you what I did. What I took to the hospital...bipap machine, pony tail, chapstick, phone and charger. What I wish I'd also brought... gas x strips. Puree foods I liked Greek yogurt, Wendy's chili and taco bell pintos and cheese. Make sure you have broth to thin out food going in the blender. I preferred the little 6 oz water bottles because they're easier to handle and won't get warm as quickly since you can only sip such a small amount at a time. I use regular spoons but know to just put a small amount on it. I was glad I only had to do pureed for one week. Sent from my SM-N920T using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm afraid to start foods. I have had 0 problem with pudding broth yogurt etc. I'm deathly afraid of vomiting! I WILL try, but I'm scared. What is considered a "soft" cheese? Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app -
I feel like its too soon!?
RickM replied to char3672's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it is quite do-able, though as usual quite individual as well. We were on soft proteins like yogurt and scrambled eggs in the hospital, and other soft foods like softer cheeses, cream of wheat, refried beans, mashed potatoes (protein loaded, of course!) and soft meats such as tuna once home. That doesn't mean that they have to be staples yet, as much of your protein will still come from shakes as things transition, though their general finding has been that we do better as we move into real food. You can also mix up transitional foods like tuna/chicken salad or chunkier soups with some more meat added - "meat lube" is a good thing at this time, though it may allow you to consume more than desired later on. The general rule of thumb, as indicated above, is to try new things one at a time and in small quantities to test for tolerance. If it doesn't go, back off to something known and try again in a couple of weeks. -

Make your own popsicles with crystal light or even Greek yogurt or protein shake! (I make them with coffee too, but that's not on everyone's plan). Or get the sugar free ones from the store. Try planning ahead and having protein bars in the office instead of an "energy bar" which is almost always mostly sugar. It's not the CALORIES that are awful, it's the sugar.
