    PS in Mexico

I used Dr. Castellanos he has offices in Monterrey & in Reynosa, Mexico, I went to REynosa because it is right across from the McAllen border and that is where my mom lives. I am 100% satisfied w/ my tummy tuck and my body liposculpture.. The hospital was a private hospital that was very nice, I received awesome care. I am bilingual so the language was not a problem for me. My sister-in-law had a tt w/ him also in December and she is also very pleased w/ her results so far. My cousin who had gastric bypass is getting a lower body lift and tt on Monday. I would highly recommend my doctor to anyone wishing ps. I am contemplating having a breast lift and reduction, trying to convince husband.. but looks like I'm losing the battle, he loves my big breasts... I lost so much weight and didn't lose one bit of breasts now everyone just assumes I had a breast augmentation, which is really funny to me.. If they only knew that this mega awesome bra does miracles and once the bra is off, there goes the miracle and there hang the girls..

    Personality change

I don't think my personality has changed. But I was told by my good friend at work, that someone said I was COCKY since I lost 70 lbs. I was so livid. My friend did tell the person that she would be COCKY also if she lost all that weight and she worked very hard to lose it. Everyone is noticing that I lost weight and they come up to me and ask me about it. If I am sitting, they tell me to stand up and I do and then I do a little dance for them. We laugh and they tell me they are so happy for me. If you don't mention anything about my weight I don't say anything also. I just said screw that person. I am happy, I feel good, I can now wear cute dresses. So leave me alone. LOL
  3. Hi all. I have Bern a liked for about a month and just got around to posting. I am scheduled for sleeve tomorrow at 10am. Current weight is 220. I'm 5'3 and 34yrs young. Married to my high school sweetie with 2 kids. I have been so gung ho up until tonight. I am really having a difficult tine thinking about all the foods I cant have anymore. Pathetic I know. But how I'm feeling at this time. I could seriously tear in to some serious food right now. Maybe its all because I'm starving from this 7 day liquid diet. Cant imagine that tomorrow At this time I wont be wanting to eat. A little Concerned also because I have this cold. Lots ofjumk in the nose and a chunky cough. The surgeon listened to my lungs in fri and he said they were clear. Anyway. Thanks for the support that you all offer through this site. Its truely a blesssing!

  5. Got my band in 2009. It never really worked kept getting unfilled because of issues finally it was discovered the band had dilated my esophagus so I was revised to the sleeve. The sleeve was great in the beginning then in month 3 bad reflux throwing up at night on three different meds for it. Got dilated four times had the bravo test and other so now I have to do bypass. I didn't choose bypass in the beginning because of the rearranging I am nervous and scared but I can't live like this with the reflux I also don't want to lose too much more weight. I went from a size 18 to a 10. I lost nearly 60 pounds and I work out so I've lost more inches. Anyone else in my boat any stories. To share. My surgery is in two weeks it's being done as medically necessary. I have blue cross federal basic

    Questions

For me, before surgery (I had the sleeve btw) all I heard were good things. I watched tons of youtube videos and even in my support groups, everyone talked about how easy the recovery was and how they were back to work in a few days. I really wish I had heard some stories of people having a harder recovery so I could have mentally prepared myself, because I'm one of those people who has not recovered easily. I'd say brace yourself - know that there's a possibility that for months after surgery you may not feel well. And that's okay! Just prepare yourself for it. A few months of discomfort/hardship is worth a lifetime of health. You will likely go through a period of regret, and wonder why you did this to yourself. That's okay! It will be worth it once you feel better, and you WILL feel better. Have a good support system - people you can cry to when you're struggling. For me, it's my mom. Be prepared for your relationships to change. If you have a significant other, you'll have a whole new set of challenges to deal with. Always do your best to drink your water! If you don't drink enough, you'll get dehydrated, and that will make you nauseous and it'll make it harder for you to get your water down, starting a vicious cycle. You'll likely stall in your weight loss anywhere from 1-3 weeks after your surgery. Don't sweat it! The weight WILL come off. You can't control the number on the scale, but you can control meeting your liquid, protein, and exercise goals - so focus on them instead! Most of all, be kind to yourself. You're giving yourself a wonderful gift of health. Enjoy the journey - it's like being given a second life 🤗

  8. Hello all - I just started the process for Gastric Sleeve surgery after doing a lot of research on my own. My insurance requires 6 month on a nutrition program, which thankfully I am already in Month 5. The part that has me nervous is the referral requirement. I really have not had a steady primary care physician for the past 6 years - mostly due to the fact that I’ve been so ashamed of my weight. So I really don’t know if I can just walk into a Dr’s office as a new patient and ask for a referral. Can I ask my OBGYN? Not sure if she would be open, but I can try. I have a BMI of 43 along with high blood pressure and sleep apnea so from that sense I don’t believe qualification is an issue. I have completed the initial application for the bariatric surgery clinic and am waiting for them to contact me for next steps. I am concerned about the referral becoming a blocker. I would appreciate it if anyone who has gone through a similar situation can share their experience or advice. Thank you!

I Had To Come Back To This Thread

Its hard not to read the horror stories and they are going to be there no matter what you do. Stick with the positives and you can do this! I love my band and know I never would have accomplished this with out it. Yes it is just a tool and I used my tool to its fullest ability. I have changed my life style and my band helped me do that. I enjoy eating healthy, granted those cravings still come knocking. Dont be afraid to give in to cravings. You are human! And I love to exercise. Right now I am extremely passionate about weight lifting and toning everything up.
  10. Hi holly! I'm 27, It was April 2016 when I had the lap band fitted and I weighed 20 stone. I'm now down to 11 stone and it's the best thing I've ever done!!! For me it was a really difficult journey as the band was sat on my diaphragm causing me pain in my shoulder but the more weight I lost the more the pain went away! I questioned why I done it to myself the whole first year of extreme pain, but mine was a rare case! Now it's gone and I'm fitter and healthier I could not be happier and I would recommend it to anyone!!! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me!!! Good luck ok your journey!!! You can do this!

    third fill

I've noticed the weight loss has slowed down n I'm not having any food restrictions.I'm having my third fill today n going to ask Dr if its normal.I try and watch what I eat but haven't started exercising yet.But other than the above I feel great, no regrets.
  12. It took me easily 50 pounds before I got even a, "Are you losing weight?" It was a little discouraging but when it started it was like bam, everyone noticed. I would say around 65 to 75 pounds it was constant for a while. I would say it was about seven months out. Now I have lost a total of 136 pounds and I still get an occasional compliment but it's settled down. (Thank God!) LOL But it definitely takes a while. Enjoy the journey!
  13. What was your experience like? Post surgery I started to see real changes in my face and figure after I had lost about 30 pounds. Alas, no one else seemed to see the change. I am no down 63 pounds and just back to work after a holiday. Seems that everyone now can see a difference. A coworker just remarked to me that one needs to lose ~20% of one's body weight before others will notice. Was this true for you?
  14. It was the 45 lb mark for me to even notice much of a body/clothing difference. But let me tell you do not let other peoples comments or lack of discourage you. I have lost 110 lbs and by all means 1/2 the person I was and I do not look like the same girl and there are some people who never say anything, even after not even knowing I was doing this ( like clients who buy homes from me and se me 1 or 2 times a year). I had a client say I don't want to offend you but did you lose weight? I laughed and said yes and its ok to say something, because they said they didn't want to say something and have a negative or schocked responce from me. So people may think something but not say something in fear that they are wrong or you are embarrassed about it.

    My jorney

Growing up I have always struggled with my weight. I was one out of 4 children and of course I took after my dad's side of the family so I was the biggest out of three siblings. When I say I was the biggest I wasn't overweight but at that time my siblings were very thin. As I grew up and became a adult I struggled continuously with various diets. I tried probably everything out on the market. I did loose weight but gained it back and then some occasionally. In 2000 I made the decision to get healthy for me. While my husband sat and ate ice cream and my kids enjoyed their goodies I stuck to my diet plan. Eventually shedding my weight to 169 lbs. Which I was fortunate enough to keep off for over 7 years. Then my husband passed away from cancer. My life had always been my children and my husband and now my kids were older (one in college and the other a junior in high school) and so I didn't know what to do. My friend recommended I do something off my bucket list but honestly...what was a bucket list. I didn't know what I wanted to do. Eventually I took a high stressed job and my weight slowly started coming back and there was no stopping it. I received a promotion and my new supervisor had had the procedure so it was easy to talk to her and ask questions. I then went and discussed having the sleeve with my doctor and she was very agreeable to it. The rest is history. I started my journey with a size 16 pants, 2xl shirt weighing 254 lbs. My surgery was July 19, 2016. I weighed myself this morning and weighed 167.2 and currently wear a size 8 pants, and xl shirt (my son did give me a large shirt and it fit as well). I have seen people have the surgery and at first they are so excited and determine but then slip back into their old habits but to me it is a lifestyle change. I want to watch my kids raise their kids and I want to watch my grandkids graduate college. There are many things I want to do and so it will now be a forever change in my life. I still have 17lbs to go but if I didn't loose another pound today I'd be happy because I'm wear I want to be.
  16. You sound ready to get on the fast track to weight loss. Good for you. If your not already, I would start an excersise program. It has made all the difference for me. Start off slow and gradually increase the intensity and/or duration. I agree with the above advice to track what you eat. I did it for the first 4 months or so. Then it became second nature and I stopped writing it down.
  17. Hello.... I was wondering...that's the problem if you ask me I met my surgeon yesterday...and he heard a heart murmur.... He asked me if anyone has ever found it and if I have ever had an EKG done for it.... I am flipping out....NO not one single doctor has found it and obviously no EKG ever! Has anyone else had this problem.....I can't help but be worried. I told my mother and she was calm about it...she said it runs in the family that her father had one, she has one and my brother has one... ok where have I been living...I did not know about this... then again none of them have any weight problems only me! HELP!!!:help::help::help:
  18. My initial appointment with my WLS surgeon is in 6 days...and I’m 100% committed to showing up and beginning this process of healing my mind, my body, my soul. 31 years of destroying it have caught up with me and now my body is screaming that it’s hurting...if I don’t turn this around it’ll give out. I had appointments for consults scheduled over a year and a half ago but kept backing out and in that time I gained close to 80 pounds, blood pressure/cholesterol/heart rate and sugars climbed, other things declined...my whole body hurts. It’s time for surrender and change. I’m going to that appointment on the 25th...NO EXCUSES.

    Feeling miserable

I felt the same way. I spent years numbing my emotions with food and when you take the food away it can be quite an adjustment. Find new ways (healthy ways) to sooth yourself when you are stressed and angry. If you can learn these new skills now you will have a much better chance and making a permanent change to your health/weight.

    Looking good and Feeling good

Well, I am doing really good, feeling good and been told that I'm looking good also:tongue2:. Yes, I did beat my husband in the weight loss challenge!!! I got below 200 before he did, although he really did not try. I know if he would have tried he could have beat me, but he loves his junk food too much. Plus, I think he wanted me to win, thank you dear. I now weigh 196 and feel soooo good. I feel good physcially and mentally. I did try the pills from my MIL for about one week and I hated the way they made me feel. They made me feel...well, NOTHING! And I did not like that feeling. I love to play and loving on my kids and feeling alive. I have been going through my closet and cleaning out alot of my fat clothes. I can now wear an XL, how exciting is that. I used to wear a 2XL, so yeah it feels good. My principal told me the other day that I was looking good and I said "I know!" So, things are going really good and I'm very happy.

    3days til surgery

I'm getting very nervous. I am trying to eat like I will after surgery but not having much luck. I eat too fast, I don't chew enough, I take too big of bites and I don't drink enough water. I will make myself after surgery, I hope the band makes it easier. Weight updated 4-6-07, 9days post op.

I feel awful, is this normal?

I was definitely a little tired on my pre-op diet; I think an extremely low calorie diet tends to do that, at least until the body gets used to it. However, the nausea is worrisome. Call your surgeon, bariatric nurse, clinical weight loss coordinator, nutritionist, WHOEVER, and tell them about it. My concern is that you might be reacting to the Protein powder, particularly if it's whey-based. Good luck!

What a difference two weeks makes

Two weeks ago today I had my LB. Now I am treating my scars with Mederma and pretty much life has returned to normal other than I am still off work, won't go back till the 13th, (I have great benes). Today I begin to incorporate LB into my life, I bought a container for my counter to put my protein shake mix in, yes my doctor is a fan of the shakes past recovery. I made room in my spice cabinet for my supplements and made room for my scale. The interesting thing is I still have no desire for food. Two weeks ago that was all I thought of. Tomorrow I see the doctor for the first post-op check-up. I will update after that visit. If you are thinking about this surgery, stop thinking and do it. I believe I am down about 30 pounds, but will give the official weight tomorrow.
