  1. I Am Enough!

    August surgery buddies!

Hey August Buddies! I finally broke through my last stall - I hovered at 203 forever... but it finally broke through with more exercise. I have been doing a regular regimen for my hair and **knock-on-wood** it's working. So I wanted to share with you what I'm doing. 1. Daily take high-quality grass-fed collagen in my water. This is what I currently use: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074T8HKGF It has no flavor and dissolves great! 2. Collagen works best with a REAL FOOD vitamin C. It helps the body absorb and utilize collagen better. Not just a regular Vitamin C Ascorbic acid. Here is the link to what I use, and I swear by it. Here is the link: https://shop.drberg.com/vitamin-c-complex 3. I take 2 supplements a day of Dr. Bergs hair supplements. Here is the link: https://shop.drberg.com/hair-formula-capsules 4. Three times a week I massage my head to bring blood flow to the roots of my hair. Even pull and tug on my hair to give it circulation. 5. I use Morrocan oil on my hair after a shower. I try to only wash my hair twice a week to help keep its moisture. So overall, I am trying to hydrate from the inside and from the outside, and so far it's working!! I've seen a little increase in hair loss, but nothing compared to when I was on Keto full-time. I'm also doing intermittent fasting for 16:8. I eat for 8 hours a day and then I'm done for 16. It really helped me get over my stall too. Hope this helps!

    August surgery buddies!

I stalled out this past week too. I started researching and read stalls are common around the 3 month mark. I feel your pain. Especially when you feel like you are doing everything you are supposed to be doing. It’s so frustrating!
  3. I've been stuck at the same weight for 4 weeks now. I'm starting to panic. I'm nowhere near my goal weight. I've been trying to drink all of my water and get my protein in. I've got extra stress for work and school right now. I know that's not helping. Anyone have some advice or similar struggles?

Looking for a November surgery pal

That’s helpful to know! I’m still on liquids two weeks but “full” ones starting Wednesday and can not wait. Even if it’s just thicker protein shakes 😆 I’m also not really hungry but man I want real food so bad.

    November 2022 Surgery Buddies

I’m scheduled for Dec 5, just started my liquid meal replacement for next 3 weeks. What’s best to deal with hunger pains while on liquid only?

    September surgery buddies!!

Congrats!!! I think I'm still in my stall. I waited a week to weight myself and I'm down a little bit from my lowest but its so close I'm going to wait and see. Stalls are the worst so I'm so happy for you! I've also found my newest favorite drink. 2 things I hadn't tried, heating my protein shakes and fairlife vanilla so I tried it with a sf chai mix and it is the best! I found on amazon David Rio Sugar Free Orca Spice Chai Tea Mix and it is amazing. I just looked right now and it seems almost sold out which worries me but I still have most of my container left atm. What is everyone's favorite food or drink atm? Do your tastes change often? Mine seems to change weekly lol. I still have trouble with chicken too but so far everything else is ok.
  7. Surgery in two weeks from tomorrow. I am so scared but really feel ready. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    6months post op and PREGNANT!

Congrats!!!!!! I had a pcos diagnoses in my early teens then got diabetes in 2021 and decided the bypass would be the way to go. I have one child but couldn’t get pregnant on my own, my son was conceived after a very traumatic surgery I had in 2015 (my blessing) I was bypassed dec 6 2021 and October 8 2022 got a positive pregnancy test! Had my first ultrasound last week and it’s beautiful! There is hope! Congratulations!!!!

    Eating carbs

It's really individual. I don't exactly recall what I was able to do at 3 months out, but I am pretty certain it was VERY little pasta or rice. I remember having to cook for my MIL after her surgery at around that time and I couldn't eat much of anything with pasta in it. Now I can have a bit more, but only a few bites if I am eating protein with it (which I am, most of the time). If not, I can eat 3/4-1 cup, but that's it. Which is good thing because that's a portion. Bread is more complex. At three months, the only bread I tried eating was a half slice of toast. Non-toasted bread was not happening. Now, I can eat bread, but how much is partly dependent on the qualities of the bread - how fluffy it is, how dense, what else I am eating with it. Also... anything with two slices of bread is usually a no go. I always stick to one slice of bread, or half a roll, or half of whatever. The only real exception to that rule is light English muffins. That portion size works well for me, but I am also 15 months out, so I wouldn't recommend trying that.
  12. Just over 2 weeks post-op….I’m getting there

  13. I’m wanting to use this with juice. I’m only 2 weeks post-op, and finding premade shakes I like is hard. I was thinking I could mix this is some juice and help to get my protein in? Any suggestions
  14. Hey all I seem to be vomiting up food after I try and eat anything solid , for example I tried a cheeseburger , ate 3 bites and vomited up the 3 bites. Is my stomach still ajusting to my sleeve ? For some reason I can eat crisps no problem cause they disintegrate into a small size I'm my mouth I also can eat fruit bananas or grapes but anything solid I seem to be getting sick Sent from my LE2123 using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. I went to visit a potential preschool for my daughter with my wife last week. We were shown around and the teacher asked us to sit in one of the classes to explain their programs to us etc. They only had those small kindergarten chairs / stools. I asked for an adult chair and they didn't have any on that floor. I ended up setting on the kids chair and I was so worried that the poor chair was going to break. Well it didn't and it was OK when we left 😂. I wanted to ask my wife to take a photo of me sitting on that chair but the teacher was there haha. My daughter was so happy that I was sitting on the table and playing with her. Best feeling ever

I am in the two weeks liquid faze also and am dreaming about the puréed stage. I can’t stand the protein drinks but I am drinking them for my health. Cheese would be great right now

Looking for a November surgery pal

Gastric Bypass on the 8th. Glad to hear you have to stay on liquids only one week! Mine is 2 weeks 😩 The swelling and bloating caught me by surprise. I didn't realize how big my belly would get! Then after 2 days it stayed swelled but sunk big time with gravity. Felt like I was carring a pouch of melting jello. Now completed day 6 and the swelling is down about 80%. I can actually reach in and feel my ab muscles again. I too was lethargic but kind of expecting that after surgery. I did my little walks but other than that I did exactly what I planned to do for the first 3-4 days: Nothing. Geting energy back now a little each day. Keeping up with the fluids and protein but am totally sick of protein shakes. Unfortunetly, I am stuck with this liquid diet for 9 more days. I was getting too obsessive with an intake schedule and worrying about counting ounces. Now I just eyeball it and go with the flow. Not hungry BUT would love to have taste of asiago cheese right now. Speaking of that, someone should make Sugar Free Jello with a cheesburger flavor 😁
  18. For me it took 2 weeks! Especially because I was using a stool softener which makes us even more bloated.

    10 days Post Op

Ah yes good luck! the first few weeks were so hard, I'm a month & a half out & no matter how much I research I feel like I'm learning something new everyday still. I'm a hardcore label reader & food weigher now, but it's nice to know what I'm putting in my body after so many years of treating my body like cr@p. It's a good experience so far
  20. I broke my stall! I weighed 183 since Oct 26 & this morning I'm down 2lbs. Soooo happy! Almost down 20lbs since surgery.

    Eating carbs

Last week, I was allowed to start eating bread and pasta. I know plans are different, but this is according to my clinic's plan. I tried pasta during lunch at work, and I had the sudden urge to throw up after only a few bits. I do have a tendency to sometimes throw up my dinner, but it almost never happens at lunch. This weekend, I tried some bread, but it felt like eating rocks. I had some Chinese food with rice for dinner tonight, and although iI ate very little, I threw almost all of it up again. Does this mean I'm not ready to eat carbs? Does anyone else tolerate carbs well at this point (3 months past surgery), or do any of you experience the same with eating wheat or rice?

    10 days Post Op

post-op (and even pre-op) diets are all over the place. For example, they had me on purees as soon as I left the hospital (most people do liquids for a couple of weeks before starting purees). Just follow whatever plan your clinic gave you - it could be that they have a specific plan for some particular reason...and if not, then at least you can honestly say that you've been following their plan if/when the topic comes up.

    Lack of weight loss

Ok - breathe. When is the last time you lost 9lbs (for good) in 6 weeks? Or 59lbs in one concerted effort? YOU'VE GOT THIS! ALREADY! If you're sticking to your plan, as you say, then you cannot *not* lose a big pile of weight. It just doesn't come off in a linear fashion - you will experience stalls (many) and big whooshes of loss (fewer). You just have to relax into this and trust the process if you follow the rules - you now have your tool, if you use it properly you will lose an absolute shedload of weight. Enjoy the ride. 🤩

    November 2022 Surgery Buddies

Hi All. I’m a week away from surgery. Checking all my boxes to make sure everyone has everything before I’m the one the needs help. Making jello for the first time in my life. No one in my family likes jello. I thought I would make it fun for me so I’m making Jell-O shots. Nervous and excited. I’m excited to not have to cook or clean after Thanksgiving. Yipeee

    VSG to DS coming soon!!

Hi everyone! I’m new here & wanted to see if anyone shares a surgery date with me. This upcoming Friday, November 18th, I’ll be having my sleeve to DS surgery & I’m so darn excited! I’ve been waiting almost 4 years for this surgery. I started in 2019 then Covid hit. Then life hit & everything was basically put on pause. I started the process again last year, but I was working so much that I didn’t take the time out to do what needed to be done for the surgery. Then I got Covid & lost 12lbs in a week. But, the weight came back once I was able to eat & taste good again. Lol…. So now, here I am with a surgery date. I think excited is an understatement! I only lost 30lbs with the sleeve. My weight the day of surgery was 266 (September 30, 2015). In 2016, my PCP put me on Adipex & Topomax. I got down to 210, but I started having issues with my stomach & couldn't tolerate them anyone so I stopped taking them. I’m currently at 232lbs & my surgeon (Dr Smith in Celebration, FL) said that I’ll probably get down to around 170- 180. I asked if it’s possible to get to 160- 165 & he said “It’s very possible”. I’ve prepared myself mentally as much as one could & I'm ready to get this weight off. I know the weight loss will be slower & it will take some time to get these 60lbs off, but I’m more determined than ever to do this! I’m already committed to taking numerous pills a day (meds & vitamins) & will also have to start doing some type of cardio, which is something I didn’t do with the sleeve. I’m looking forward to being able to share my “success” story with all of you! ☺️
