So as I was talking to someone else about their weight loss from VSG, I came to an almost profound (to me anyways) realization (2 actually). 1. From my highest weight, I have lost almost 50% of my body weight (appx 48%) 2. For the first time in my ENTIRE life, I do not feel like I need to lose any more weight. I have always felt like I needed to lose more, and I have always been heavy, since Kindergarten. Although it is not perfect, for the first time I feel at peace with my body. Something that I never thought was possible and something that I never thought I would ever feel.

Hi Friends! Just thought I would share, I hit a big NSV this morning when my "goal jeans" fit! Not only fit, but they're comfy!! 15 more lbs to go to my weight goal, but these jeans are FIVE sizes smaller than what I normally wear.

Participated in our local Walk From Obesity and completed the 2 miles in the middle of the pack. This time last year I would have been out of breath within a quarter mile. So happy I have my sleeve.

COOL! NSV's are the best! Congrats!

I like the NSV more than the scale, too. The numbers can be too stressful! Yay, you!

Happy. So Very, Very Happy.

Little over three months out, and I too am so dang happy that I get on people's nerves! NSV - I am no longer hiding from the camera! 50-ish down, 50-ish to go!! -
Today marks thirty days since my surgery, four weeks and two days. My husband and I went out to eat for the first time in over a month, and it was a success! I was a little worried about a negative reaction, but was feeling OK since I haven't had any problems at home this past week introducing "early solid foods." We went out for sushi and I ordered a miso Soup which I've been making at home, familiar territory. Then I was about to very slowly, but wonderfully eat three 1oz pieces of sashimi (sake and maguro) dipped in low-sodium soy sauce. HEAVEN! I took very small bites, chewed so thoroughly, and patiently waited between bites to check in with my belly for the full signal. The taste was amazing, so nice to have something my taste buds remember from before surgery. I felt like I could have gone for a fourth piece, but didn't want to push it. It was hard to not dive into the roll my husband got, but I kept staring at the rice like it was a sworn enemy. I did allow myself a small bite of the unagi he ordered for "desert" It was so nice to feel normal again. And I have to say, I loved my sleeve for doing it's job tonight...

For the first time in 15 yrs. I ran last night. I always used the excuse that I had bad knees. The truth being is that I was carrying sooo much extra weight around that my knees just hurt from the pressure on them. Last night I felt like I could have ran forever and it not hurt (my knees of course, lungs being a totally different thing).lol My lungs are not use to the large amount of air following through them yet but that is changing day by day. Funny thing is my friend Laura asked me to join a 5K with her just yesterday and I told her, "No way! I would kill over!". She being the positive and wonderful person she is, said that if she could do it, I could. So now I'm thinking about joining. I love this wonder decision I have made! Oh, I have one other NSV.... I gave away the first pair of jeans that I actually went and bought after surgery. They were a size 13 that I wore for maybe a month. I gave them to my very good friend with pride!

I am with you all... I love my flowers, and now that I have lost weight, I am more mobile and can dig in the soil again ...BIG NSV... I got my first bloom on my Joseph Coat rose yesterday...so pretty... the tulips were planted late, but they are still popping, so far... can't wait for everything to start blooming as this is a NEW garden in our new house... the previous owners didn't have one bush/shrub/plant in the yard ... not so anymore :) -
I went to bingo and was approached by 2 ladies who asked me what's my secret? They said because you have lost some weight. I thanked them because that was the first time that someone outside of my family and friends to notice my weight loss. I was smiling from ear to ear. I'm down 55 lbs and was starting to get worried, like damn was I really that fat?

Anyone else thinking prematurely to get rid of fat clothes

I heard that you should keep at least one pair of your 'At my biggest' jeans to compare and put on when your x months down the path to a new you. That way you can really feel that difference. A good NSV moment. Especially on stall weeks. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
So I told myself I wouldn't go shopping but I couldn't help it lol I just wanted a few things for summer. I have been a size 20 for so long I think since junior year hs. I tried on a few things and they didn't fit they were too big!!! So I went down to a 18 and they fit but loosely I'm sooo excited I haven't been this size in so long im able to wear 1XL tops and I got an XL dress as well! 43lbs down and I'm feeling amazing :-)

That's a great NSV! I experienced the same thing when attending an NBA basketball game - it was so nice not having to shove my huge a$@ into the seat. One downfall of the weight loss though - I actually notice my tailbone getting a little achy if sitting in a hard seat for too long. Not enough padding. I'll take it though!!
-
NSV ALERT! lol I went to Starbucks and you know they have the chairs with the arms outside. Well they used to be so dang uncomfortable because my thighs would be pushing on the sides. Well guess what?! I sat in one and had tons of room on each side! =DDD

I love reading about all these NSV's! They are so fun and inspiring! We are all doing so great! This is the smell of success!

LapBandTalk Contest & Newsletter 06/10/2012
Alex Brecher posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey, Bandsters! Now that Memorial Day has passed and we’re well into June, it’s summer time! Why not use the warm weather and casual dress code for motivation to stick to your diet? Of course, the newsletter’s a great way to remind you to be good, too! We keep you updated on what’s going on at LapBandTalk.com, and we’ll jump right into this newsletter with: Alex Brecher, founder of LapBandTalk.com! Kosher bandsters…and way more. These groups are smaller discussion forums for bandsters who have a lot of things in common with you even beyond your lap-band. They may have great solutions to problems that you’re having, and they can be super sympathetic to your situation. You can make close friends on these boards because you already have so much in common, and because you can spend a lot more “one-on-one” time with them. Come on over to the food or recipe. It’s pretty simple. Come up with a new recipe or try a new food that fits on your diet. Tell us about it! Recognize your non-scale victory (NSV): An NSV is something that is an accomplishment during your lap-band journey, but it isn’t based on the number on the scale. It might be something like fitting into a dress you like or being able to keep up with your grandchildren without getting tired. It’s never too late to try the old challenges and write about them. Share what you come up with to brag a little and help out others. The New Challenge: Be an Exercise Buddy! This challenge is great for your health and the health of a lucky new or old friend. Why? Over the next two weeks, your challenge is to do a workout with a new person. Some ideas for the challenge are to: Ask your neighbor to take a walk with you Ask someone at your gym to be your partner while you both lift weights Go for a bike ride with your kids or spouse Take a new exercise class Be creative! The goal is to do something fun and healthy, and maybe make a new friend or two along the way. Don’t forget to post your challenge results in the Challenge Forum. The forum’s also great place to go if you need ideas or have advice for other Bandsters. Good luck! And Finally: We Need Your Help! We’d like to ask you to support us when you can. Hopefully you value LapBandTalk.com and all of its free services. We’d like to remind you to please ask your surgeon and other healthcare providers to post LapBandTalk.com fliers in their offices. The fliers are all ready to be printed in black and white or color. We’re always growing, and you can help. Thank you. That does it for this newsletter. Thanks for reading and for your continued participation on the boards. Take care! What a terrific NSV! Congratulations!

That's awesome. I usually just trail ride (and I have no doubt my horse appreciated carrying 90 less pounds on our 20 mile, 3500 foot climb to a lake basin yesterday) But I do join in on sorting and team penning for fun in the local arena in the winter when our trails are under 10-20 feet of snow. Love your pictures....great NSV!

Looks like fun! Good for you-great NSV!
