    Super cold hands and feet?

I’m the same way, and it’s unfortunately not uncommon post-surgery. There are many threads on this topic, if you use the search function. I had surgery in December 2019. I wear slippers while home, and warm socks always. If that’s not enough, I made a foot warmer (flannel bag with rice in it, reheats in the microwave) that I use daily.
  3. My surgery was March 27th of 2019 and though I don't post in forums often, I have kept up with logging my weight info. I wanted to drop by to see how my fellow March 2019 sleevers are doing. Hands down a great decision for my health, physically and mentally. I feel great and I hope you all do as well.
  4. probably depends on where you live. Some parts of the country have been hit a lot harder than others. In those, I can see them postponing elective or non-critical surgeries just so they can deal with a potential onslaught of COVD-19 patients.
  5. Hey March 3rd group. Here's a quick update: I'm still fatigued from doing nothing. I don't meet my 64 oz. goal for hydration, I'm only halfway there. So I started with the popsicles this week to help me. I take the Prilosec and the bariatric multivitamins eveyday, without issue now. I don't like the taste, but I will manage. 3/6 incisions have shed the skin glue naturally and looks amazing. Going to start using Mederma and vitamin e oil next week. They itch like hell though and are still a little bit tender. Pooping is not my friend, I'm taking the meds to assist me. I've only went once over this past weekend. I will take the Miralx to aide my body if needed. I want to chew and now... I have to fight this head hunger like everyone else. I'm hungry sometimes, but I will drink a shake or one of my allowed items from the Full liquid diet. Still want a waffle and Turkey bacon or some cashews. I'm down exactly 10 pounds from surgery last week. Sleep is difficult, I'm uncomfortable most nights and I want to go sleep during regular sleeping hours, I can't. I need a little more rest than normal. I finally put on a bra today and full lounge wear.
  6. Toronto, Canada. A quick google search tell me there are 19 active cases in T.O. and the GTA (as of yesterday) I am not sick, been in contact with anyone (that I know of) who has been sick, or traveled to any hotspots, or been around anyone who has (that I know of). My city has not enacted any States of Emergency, but has issued almost daily updates, which I keep up with. I am going about my business as I normally do while practicing good hygiene (as I normally do). I have lunch dates today and tomorrow that I am keeping. And a date night tomorrow night with Mr & friends that I already have an OOTD picked out for. I have not "stocked up" beyond what I would normally do; if anything I should be going grocery shopping today, but given the news that erupted yesterday, alot of panicked folks are flooding the stores and I don't want to deal with that and them right now. I went this morning, and turned around and went home after seeing the craziness at the costco parking lot. I probably will avoid Costco for the next little while, as it seems to be the mecca for stockpilers. I did stop by a regular grocery store and picked non-volume, regular-priced romaine lettuce for my salads since I'm all out. No craziness there. I didn't check if there was toilet paper though, LOL. Our client sites have implemented WFH policies, but we work from home most of the time anyway. The Kid's school is still open. She has a semi-formal she is attending tonight, that has not been cancelled. The only things that we are doing/have done differently is (1) telling our parents to stay away from crowds as much as they can, and give us a call if they need stuff so we can do the errands for them. They are elderly and not the healthiest folks in the world, so it makes sense for them, and (2) totally scrapping the plan of going to Europe for vacay in the spring, which I am pretty bummed about, and (3) seriously contemplating pulling the plug on the Kid's summer plans in Asia, which she is pretty bummed about. Otherwise, status quo around here, unless new info/third-party policies forces us to do otherwise. Wash your hands!

  8. My sleeve date was 12/2/2019. I have been doing well so far, but I need to remind myself I am only 3 months post op. I am still struggling with solid foods especially meat and vomiting. I am happy with my progress. The hardest part is dealing with the mental/emotional cravings seeing and wanting foods I can no longer eat. I just take it one day at a time.
  9. I had h pylori during testing. I had 2 meds that I took for 10 days. Didnt seem like a big deal to anyone. I didnt feel rotten but experienced months of dirrarhea after though. I'm assuming the bacteria is gone but they never retested for it.

Having revision 4/10 doing RYN due to hernia and GERD my surgeon is vining me 6 weeks off but ow I’m worried about the Corona virus
  11. Having a revision to my sleeve having the RYN on 4/10 due to hernia and GERD. Now with this corona going on I’m scared as of yet they have not postponed my surgery. Wondering if I should postpone it
  12. The esults of the biopsy during the scope last Friday showed there are a few h. pylori critters nesting in my stomach (“several” specifically). ☹️ I have not had any GI symptoms other than some minor increased gas in the last several weeks and there were no ulcers found. I would love to know your experience if you had the same happen to you. My Gastro ordered the 3 usual meds - amoxicillin, claritbromycin, and Protonix (although I do not yet know how many days it’s for, it could be 7, 10, or 14). 1. How many days were you prescribed the medications? 2. Did they get rid of the bacteria? 3. Did you feel rotten or was it not that big a deal? 4. How did your Bariatric surgeon react/or what did he/she say about it? 5. Did it delay your surgery? Were you required to retest? i would so appreciate any info you can offer. I have been busting my butt to get everything done as fast as I could because some travel pre-paid may put me in a surgical squeeze play! But now I am worried this bacteria will slow me down ( I was told that they could fast track me once I got 3 dietician visits (weight loss) completed, the scope / biopsy done, and the psych evaluation (the last two are now complete). THANKS 🤗
  13. @CarlyK Truth. My best friend had this surgery 1.5 years ago, and I went in weighing 10 more pounds than she did, but I'm 2-3 inches taller, have more muscle mass, etc... It's SUPER nice to have someone you can check in and relate with and say, "This is what I am doing/feeling, what about you?!"

    Coronavirus / COVID - 19

I'm in Western Massachusetts, and we don't have any cases here, yet, but there has been one in Worcester. I have basically had a cold with congestion and now a cough for a couple of weeks; I only had my surgery on Feb. 10, and it had been delayed for a week because I had the flu (regular flu, high fever with body aches, sinus congestion). I am also 61, so between my immune system being taxed and my age I am feeling pretty vulnerable. I am certainly not panicking, but I am working from home when I can (like today), and scheduling as many phone conferences as I can instead of in person meetings. I have both disinfectant wipes and cleanser at work, and I cleaned every surface in my office. Similarly I have cleaned our house pretty thoroughly with disinfectant cleaners, and my housekeeper is coming Monday and will do a deeper clean. We have at least 2 weeks of food in the house; I just started eating soft foods, so I have several dozen eggs, some well, Yes! soups, pre-made turkey meatballs, turkey sausage, ground turkey, chicken breasts and chicken wings in the freezer. I have several low fat cheeses, canned tomatoes, frozen spinach and kale. Of course I also have protein powder and some dry high protein soups, that aren't all that tasty but got me through "smooth" food stage. Won't be fancy, but we can certainly make it a couple of weeks. My adult son is temporarily staying with us for a couple of months, and I have pasta, hamburger, bread, and rice for him and my husband. All of our prescriptions are filled. We got a double order on "Chewy" this month so we have plenty of pet food. Having said all that, I cannot avoid being in public, my job requires it sometimes. (I am an attorney, and a litigator, so I have to go to Court, do depositions, etc.) The Courts by and large have not announced any changes, although that may be coming. I would welcome phone conferences when and if we can. I carry hand sanitizer, and I wash my hands all the time. I've become one of those people who uses a paper towel to open the bathroom door after I wash my hands! Everyone I know in the medical field thinks this is going to get worse before it gets better. I've done what I can; I will continue to follow the advice of the professionals because I know I don't know more than them. We are continuing on with our lives, we go to the supermarket frequently for fresh fruits, vegetables and fish, we went to a show last week-end. We did change plans for this week-end, we are having friends come here instead of going out, but that was really about me not wanting to go to a restaurant/pub yet. It's hard to find the balance between being responsibly prepared and overreacting to all the hype. To me, once the entire country of Italy shut down I figured maybe I should take this a little more seriously. I guess we can add "wash your hands" to watch your protein and liquids!
  17. We don't have it here yet (SW Virginia) but if it gets here there's not much I can do to avoid it since I work in a hospital. But in reality death from flu is more likely than from Covid-19.

    My story

Hey everybody, I have to get something off my chest, my story towards WLS is this, 5 years ago i was not at all obese, i weighed 65-70 kgs, I actually started college at around 2011 and then moved to Australia to continue my education, but ever since I moved to Australia, I was starving myself, as I did not have enough money to buy myself food etc, then at 2014 I finished my college and moved to Canada for about 4-5 years, there it got even worse, since my field was really hard to get a job (audio engineering), I was starving myself there as well, ever since 2012 i was moving to different countries, in total 4 countries Dubai, India, Canada and Australia, but was eating well here and there, parents were sending some money, at the brink of 2016, I became homeless in Canada, for almost 8months, at that period I was eating like 1 meal a day, surprisingly I was still about 65kgs by the end of that phase, but then I committed a crime while I was in the streets and they sent me a psychiatric hospital, that's when things took a turn for the worst, after about 3 months of staying in the hospital, they started me on psychiatric meds (aripiperzole abilify) but in about 20 days I saw my weight rise from 65 to 75, then about 10 days later it rose to 85, then slowly 95, then about 6 months later I was at 110, I thought I maxed out but I gained another 7kgs in the next 6 months, also the food was rich in the hospital but very tiny portions, then they switched me to clopixol, did not help, infact caused infertility and sexual problems, I have one question for all of you, does bariatric surgery work for person like me? Does weight gain from psychiatric meds happen in like 15 days? If so that is big problem. Since I have a bad history with nutrition and my metabolism is in really bad shape, but I got out a year and 6 months ago, and i started eating a lot once I got out due to all the deprivation, I was never even planning on doing bariatric surgery, did not even know what it was, so guys please share your experience with starvation, metabolism, weight gain, psychiatric meds. Oh I did mention this to the doctor and he said that's nothing to worry about. But what do you guys think? I really want answers guys, this has been in my chest for a long time now. Thank you all for listening. Oh and I have finished my surgery , it's been 19 days, I have lost about 12kgs. Things are going well, but I don't want it stall all of a sudden and then one fine day it never moves again. That would be a nightmare, I just want some clarity on this topic. Thanks again.
  19. The seriousness of the coronavirus is beginning to concern me in Massachusetts. The U.S. does not have nearly enough tests and IMHO our government, which has been underfunding science, does not have a good plan to combat it. About 20 major universities have asked students not to come back after Spring Break. I'm healthy, but my husband and parents are older and have compromised immune systems. My father is in a nursing home. I have a few thoughts, and I'm curious about what you think, and how things are in countries besides the U.S. As more tests become available, I think there will be a sharp increase in cases over the next several weeks. In the U.S. some people have been asked to self-quarantine. The period seems to be for two weeks. I would avoid all unnecessary visits to the hospital. I'm not sure what I would do if my surgery was in the next few weeks. I'm keeping our house stocked with 2 weeks of food as recommended by the CDC (Center for Disease Control). Keeping all my medications in stock Washing my hands carefully and often I also have purchased small amounts of these things, although I'm not sure they will help: N95 Masks, rubber gloves, antibacterial wipes, and hand sanitizer. What do you think? What are you doing?
  20. If it helps, I weighed myself four days after my surgery and had gained three pounds, yet at my one week check-up I was down 10 pounds since my surgery, which means in just a few days 13 pounds seemingly disappeared. Don't stress too much about it and ignore your scale for the first few weeks, it's likely just fluid gain from the IV's
  21. Did you have diabetes for 10 or more years before your surgery? The way it was explained to us is that the surgery has something like a 96% chance of curing type 2 diabetes, but only if you've had it for less than 10 years. I don't really know how much truth there is in that, but that's what they told us in the class when discussing the pro's and con's of the different surgeries... If you did have it less than 10 years then just maybe you happen to be one of those rare 4%, which yes, sucks very much so. I hope the doc can explain what's going on with it and hopefully figure it out.

    February 2020 Post-Op Thread

I am 16 days post op and im still on fluids. Cant manage any soft or puree foods yet. Lost 10 kilos since surgery. Struggle to get all my fluids in but im mostly just on soup. Ive been back at work for a few days now and by 3pm im exhausted. I guess from not being able to get enough into me. I use tasteless protein and add it to EVERYTHING. I haven't started any exercise, tried going for walks but cant manage much yet. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

    Clothes?

I was in size 3x, or 26/28, and had some very nice business casual clothes. It’s tough for people that size to find decent quality, cute clothing, and I wanted to gift it to someone. I would do a purge every month or so, and give away more (mostly though a gift economy FB group). I also gave some to a colleague. I love seeing her get use out of it. I bought from thrift stores while I was losing, I considered it more like renting clothes than buying, and donated it back out when I shrank out of it. Like MsSSS, I had bins of clothes that I was pulling from as I shrank, until I got down below XLs and 1x’s, that is. Getting below that size was unchartered territory for me. I really hate wearing baggy clothes. I’m now a size 10-12. I JUST went through my closet today and have a couple of new bags to donate. I tried everything on, and it it’s too big, it’s out. Admittedly it’s because closet space is precious now 😂
