    Huge Nsv..in A Small Package

Fantastic! I love your attitude about keeping it intact and adjusting it's place in your life as your size shrinks! You're totally right.....it can still have a precious place in your heart, whether it is on your finger (pick a size!) or on a chain around your neck. Enjoy this sweet NSV.
  5. So ..I had posted recently that I was able to wear my wedding band and engagement ring again. Well I also had a mother's ring I couldn't wear my hubby designed and commissioned a man named David to make for me. This ring is very special to me because 1) my hubby loving designed the infinity design and had all of our birthstones placed within the infinity symbol, and 2) David was dying with colon cancer and this was one of the last rings he commissioned to make. When I got it to my surprise, my birth stone was not the right one, but David had a turn for the worse and I didn't have the heart to take it back..David passed a couple of days later. So for a long time ..I was sadden because one it would honor my husband and family to wear it and it would honor David since it was one of the last pieces his hands made, nut my jands had become too large to cpmfortably amd safely wear. To my great surprise, my ring fits on my right middle finger now instead of my right ring finger! I will not have it resized. I plan on wearing it and reminiscing about how this beautiful gesture came to be. I will just keep on switching fingers until I run out! Then..I may wear it around my neck! I am glad I loved myself enough to get my sleeve. My life is much better for it!

Horsegirl and otakham- I plauteued around 220 for almost two months so very frustrating, but it will pass. Hang in there! Nicki- Great job on 5.5 lbs! I hope it sticks I lost 3 more pounds this week for a total of 67lbs! I am finally more than half way to my goal of 130lb loss. I have lost 7lbs total in the last two weeks and am well on my way to 100lb loss my birthday in October I am just so happy that the extra exercise and being extra careful with my eating is paying off. It is so extemely pleasing to see the scale moving! I have had lots of great comments lately and that is also really nice. Also, my wedding rings flew off my hand yesterday, good NSV but also scary, I would hate to lose them. What have you all been doing or plan to do when your rings don't fit anymore? Erica

    Check-In, Updates, Nsvs

The smile on your face says it all.........! Congratulations on your success so far. Those NSVs are the greatest, aren't they? By the time you are in the wedding in December, you will have to get a significant refit done! Keep up the great work, and keep smiling. You have a lot to be happy about!
  10. Hey Guys!!!.. Yes, I know it's been a minute!! But, I'm still alive and kicking... just crazy busy and mourning the end of my summer vacation!! LOL... Well, let's see... I have kind of learned how to deal w/ my anxiety around successfully navigating my sleeved life.. I JUST DO IT!!! Most days I'm quite successful and on the "challenging" days.. I try to remember, there is always tomorrow!! Tis Life!!! I'm also learning to shed the "I wear the largest size in the store" mentality.. Went to Target yesterday to get some epsom salts to help with the aches and ACHES from this body works class I went to on Monday... the beast lady trainer tried to kill me.. I promise she did.. I did survive.. barely.. but anyway... my friends and I decided to try on some clothes... First, I've never worn ANYTHING from Target besides socks!!! So, we grab dresses and my BFF ******es a hanger from me and says... are you crazy... you don't wear that size!!! Of course I argue... She I had a 4 (26/28) she wanted me to get a 1 (18/20)... we compromised at a 2 (20/22).... I knew I would be embarrassed cause I wouldn't be able to get my big butt in this little dress (yes, little... I'm used to 28, 30 and 32s).... so.. I sashay into the dressing room... pissed off... and it FIT!!! like... really FIT!!! I couldn't believe it.. LOL... Oh, I'm in a wedding in December, so I had to go get fitted for the dress... which, I put off to the last possible minute... anyway... the consultant was amazing and tried to help me see that I wasn't a size 30 anymore... put on a very small cut size 24 gown and a size 38D corset bra!! I'm like.. WHAT??!! for real??!!! I attached a pic.. excuse the gym hair!!! Trying to get more gym time in this week before I head back to work!!! Oh, I also saw 308 on the scale this week!!! Yeah.. over 300 and wearing a 20/22.. LOL.. I don't get it, but I'll take it!! So those are the major NSVs for this week!! LOL.. I've gained a few more Tina-isms since the last time I posted.... here they are ... Find someone to share your story with... Highs, lows, in-betweens... This will definitely serve as a reminder that you have come sooo far..even if you're just starting out or making the decision to change your life... Share it... Your story sounds good being told by YOU!!! Don't worry too much about wasting food... it's called a ziploc bag, container or whatever!!! I hate left overs, but, when I did the math, I could spend $2 on a bag of frozen veggies and make my leftovers into 2-4 DIFFERENT meals!! I spent $10 at brunch yesterday and ate 4 times!!! Learn your weight loss patterns and listen to your bodyI CANNOT lose weight when eating fruit... Like.. I don't know why... so, I limit my fruit intake to weekends and spend the week doing Protein and green veggies... That may not be the case for some people... find out what works for you and DO IT!!!! Water is YOUR FRIEND!!! Feeling tired and kind of blah.... grab a couple of bottles of water.... take a leisurely stroll as your drink... I love CL pink lemonade.. YUM!!! Take a friend with you when you go shopping... You may not see the difference in your size (I drop lots of inches before pounds come off)...but, others can... CLEARLY... Finally, Learn to appreciate the things that make you unique!! You are amazingly and perfectly you.. Not perfect, but perfectly you.. Love and accept the wonder of it!! Change what you don't like... but never underestimate your power and presence!! Love and Hugs!!! Tina

    9 Weeks Out

I haven't posted in a while so I thought I would do a progress report. I started at 270 lbs. and am now 222! I have lost a total of 48 lbs and could not be happier with my decision to have the sleeve. I am wearing clothes that have been packed away for over 2 years. I feel so much better!! I can get my wedding rings on my finger again!! My best NSV so far was about a week ago. We have a really small bathroom and while I was in Front of the mirror getting ready for work my husband went to squeeze by me to use the bathroom and instead of squeezing through like he use to do he just walked right behind me. He stopped and was like wow!! Thats proof of how much smaller you are!! It really made me feel good!!
  13. It is hard to believe that today I am 16 weeks post op and that I am actually posting under "Success Stories"! As of this morning I have lost 69 lbs and am officially in ONEDERLAND!!! To make things better, I slipped on for the first time in 20 years a pair of size 14 pants!!! I was fortunate to have had a quick, uneventful recovery. Weight dropped off quickly at first, but really has slowed down this past month and I am ok with that. As I was giving my youngest a piggy back ride around the house the other day, I had the realization that I have lost her in weight. I also thought "How did I carry this much weight around all day, every day? No wonder I never had energy". So glad i did this for me!!!

    Trying Not To Whine ....

Same here...I'm 2 weeks post op tomorrow and I'm feeling like a circus freak. What did help today was a trip to TJ Maxx to look at clothes. Before the surgery I was buying 2X shirts, today I put on a MEDIUM and it fit. That was my first NSV (non scale victory). We have to remember why we started this journey and how miserable we were before the surgery. I KNOW that I don't want to feel like that again. We are strong women who WILL make it thru this together. I'm a loser!!! DOS: 7/18/12 HW: 273 DOS: 260 CW: 241

So Shaving Your Legs And Being Obese

Ha, I've actually found I have to shave more often and it takes longer since I've lost weight! But I'm not complaining. I think the changes in my hormones regulating has made my hair grow faster, and now I've got all the bumps to maneuver around again -- knee caps, ankles, etc. Another great NSV!

    Didn't Know Myself

Love it... but what I love more is that you had your photo taken in a swim suite... WOW! Double NSV!! =]
  19. I agree with the others, 33 lbs is not something to just brush off. That is 33 lbs that you carried around and didn't loose before your surgery, or liquid pre-op. I lost slowly my first 6 months, then all of a sudden. I am on vacation and going to a gym, so I am watching my weight on a scale, but I stop at one of those truck stop places and put a quarter into the machine and it says 147. I am shocked and happy! What I am saying is after a month vacation, I had suddenly dropped 15 lbs that I was not aware I had done! Best wishes, you are probably in for a NSV soon!! Karen
  20. Sounds like alot of NSV's in your neighborhood! Good for you.

Do Post Banders Handle Heat Better?

Katie - it happened to me. Used to always be hot! Drove my husband nuts. Now, I feel comfortable most of time - even in Summer. And I haven't even lost that much weight. 50 lbs more or less. It was one of the NSV that I hadn't even thought of. I'm sure you will be one of the lucky ones. :-)

    Nsv Moment With The Hubby

Well, another weekend has come and gone and I am back to work this AM. Had a successful weekend with very few slip ups. I had a NSV moment this weekend..We had some dead spots in our yard so we had dug them up and were re-sodding..well, I was carrying the 40 pound bags of new dirt and throwing the squares of sod while my husband "watched". I asked if he was going to help - he laughed and told me that I was in better shape than he was, so he would just "let me" get my exercise in for the day..Hehe, As tired as I was - not to mention dirty - I kept on with the bags and the sod until the job was done. I acutally amazed myself in the fact that I was not short of breath and did not really get overly tired and no soreness. Now, you to have to know I live in Florida and it was 97 degrees and humid - Hot my friends..A year and 100 pounds ago - none of this would have been remotely possible. But I guess I am in pretty good shape to have done this job. As I sit and look at my tiny plate, with my tiny amount of food (all the time really wanting a pizza followed by some ice cream) I reflect back on this weekend and realize that I have come a long way. I am not only smaller, I am healthier and stronger than I was one year ago. Yep, I still have about 40 pounds more to go (the weight of one bag of dirt - which I thought was HEAVY) so I trudge on..Moving foward, not wanting to go back to the old fat me. I am thankful for the surgery and my weight loss...even if I never reach my goal weight - hey, there is still 100 pounds less of me today and that in itself is a "GOLD MEDAL" performance - if I do say so myself. So, next time you feel down, feeling left out or short changed - go find an old picture of yourself (a fat one) and think back at just how "wonderful life was" when you were heavier - huffing and puffing your way through life, with sore knees, bad ankles and who knows what going on in your insides. Hang in there bandster peeps - we are in this boat together and we will succeed one way or the other. This Saturday I am doing my 5th 5K - this one is up and down the ramps of the Jaguars (NFL) football stadium. It is called the "Stadium Challenge" and it is a tough one. I did it last year and I am crazy enough to do it again. Been working hard on my training. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I make it through such a demanding 5K. Maybe that dirt and sod "training" will come in handy.....I bet my husband will take credit for that one ! Until next time - have a great week and stay true to yourself ! Melinda in Florida
