    On A Good Note.. Nsv?

Aha! NSV makes sense now! I'm with you, blackanese25. I was sleeved 12-8-11 and my pants are falling off me now. I had to go scrounging for underwear this morning because yesterday, they fell down in the middle of a client meeting and I had to excuse myself. Thankfully I had pants on but it was still a strange sensation.
  3. so when i woke up this morn and decided to get dressed i put my usual pants on only for the past few days they just don't fit right .. too loose.. he he he.. so i went into my room to see if i had anything smaller and i pulled out a pair of pants i bought about 3 years ago i wore these pants a total of about 5 times. .i always said one of these days ill fit in these again.. And for shits and giggles, honestly not thinking they would fit, tried them on anyways.... i had lost enough weight so far to wear them... and not just wear them, but wear them comfortably... funny part is.. half way thru the day i realized something.. they were starting to get a little loose which mean i still wont be able to wear these things for long cuz im just gonna keep losing weight... so i called up a friend and asked her if she would like if i set my pants aside for her... lol i think this would be an nsv? right?

    NSV

While Christmas shopping last night with the hubby I saw a sweater that caught my eye. It was in an expensive store with an expensive price tag. I had previously made the decision to NOT buy any clothing (except from goodwill or cheap resale shops) while I lose weight. This is important to me since I am only a month out and 1) I wasn't sure I've lost enough to need new clothes and 2) What's the point of spending now when I plan to lose weight for several more months. So I walked with this sweater (regular ladies size xl) for like an hour (normally I am a 2x). I just wouldn't put it down. I finally found my husband and asked him to hold my stuff so I could try it on over my existing shirt. I pulled it over my head and before I even had it pulled down I was like "nope to small still". It wasn't even on yet and I was shooting it down. I finished pulling it down and it fit. Nicely. And my husband said "honey, that's definitely not to small, but it sure is ugly". LOL. I couldn't help but burst out laughing. I never did look in the mirror but he never says things like that so it must have been bad! Either way I felt good. I'm still chuckling.

  9. well today I woke up with a horroble sinus infection....and all I wanted to do was lay there and sleep. today was weigh in day so I stripped and stepped on the scale and it read 199.3!!! woohoo! so I preceeded to get on my workout clothes and tennidls shoes and did my normal 2 hour workout. now, I will admit I walked my 30 minutes on the treadmill instead of my normal jog/sprint. as I sit here drinking my hot tea watching trashy reality tv, not feeling well at all...i'm proud of myslef and feel good that I still worked out....and that I'm in ONEDERLAND!!!!
  10. Hello, I'm Linda. I don't have a band yet but am pursuing it. I've been reading a lot on your board and it makes me feel even more confident that the band is the right choice for me. I hope you don't mind me asking stupid questions every now and then. My first one is what is an NSV? I hope to be hanging around here regularly, if you'll have me. I've been looking for a good WLS message board for some time now (I just can't get into the format at Obesity Help and I like and am familiar with vBulletin which is what this board is built on). By way of intro, I am 43, married, with 5 children. My brood is made of all girls and they range in age from 3 to 24. Nice to meet all of you.

    NSV...here is my latest...share yours

I flew to San Antonio this morning, and I could buckle the seat belt, AND had 3 inches of extra strap! It felt so good! I'm not having many scale victories, but am sure noticing some NSV's! Congratulations to all of you on yours! Cindy

    Shopping (gasp!) in a store

I would say that is a NSV to be proud of! Great work! And, I agree, that Macy's is overwhelming! But, boy does it have options
  13. I got in the car today--and noticed that I seemed to be sitting lower in the seat. Sure enough, the rear-view mirror was showing part of the back seat instead of out the back window. I live alone, so I know no one has changed the seat settings, so I was puzzled. Then I realized MY BUTT IS SMALLER! I've lost so much padding in the rear that I'm now sitting lower in the driver's seat. I've kept my boobs but my butt is a pancake!
  14. so finally after my fourth fill I think I am in the green zone. for the first time I feel restriction when I eat. I am still able to eat any food with out PB, but if I eat too fast or too big of a bite or dont stop soon enough, then I will get stick and that is not comftorable! I am glad to have enough restriction to regulate my portions with out feeling jungry, but still not be so restricted that I have to leave out certain types of foods. I like the fact that I can eat out with people, and aside from eating slower and less, I am just like them on to the NSV!!!! my family spent the week at disney world last week. Talk about HOT and HUMID!!! anyway for the first time in a LONG time i got onto every ride with out wondering if I would meet the seat size requirement I also wore tank tops the whole time with out avoiding pictures because I wasn't worried that my arms looked HUGE. granted they are still bigger then avg size people (they were even big in compairson to the rest of my body when I was heavier) but for the first time they were not the focus of my attention when I looked at pics of myself also no second chin in photos!!!!!!! last but not least I had been holding off on shopping until just before the trip and I am happy to report that I was able to shop in the regular womens department and not the plus size department!!!! I comftorably wore sz 14 or 16 bottoms, large skirts and large shirts!!!! I even got a few xl shirts from the juniors department and a sz medium skirt from old navy (clearly elastic is my friend lol ) I am almost 6 months into this journey, and I am half way to my goal weight, but I am 100% at my goal lifestyle, and that is way more important to me. It feels so good to finally be happy with me and know that I am leading my family in a healthy active lifestyle.
  15. I hit the century club this week (Over 100 lbs down about 8 months out from surgery), but more important than that, I just got back from vacation in Hawaii. A year ago, I wouldn't have been able to enjoy it nearly as much as I did this year. This year, the humidity didn't bother me nearly as much as it would have in the past, because I felt comfortable in shorts and dresses and swimsuits, much more than I did 100 lbs ago! I'm still technically obese, but I feel SO much better in my own skin. Also, during a hike, rather than stopping and sweating and wheezing, I was able to hike up steps without gasping for breath or wanting to sit on the ground. I know people debating the surgery worry about exactly how much weight they'll lose and whether they'll be able to wear a two piece swimsuit, but even if I don't get into a bikini I have no regrets for the life my successful surgery has let me live to the fullest. The numbers on the scale pale in comparison to that! Best of luck to those of you struggling through tough days pre or post surgery - better days are ahead!
  16. Yes, we are. We are looking different, healthier, NSV's every day. Absolutely. KUDOS TO EVERYONE!

    Back from vacation

@@Essence46 how is everyone, how is everyone personally i'm a little mift at you "forgetting" to invite me Must have been an oversight - so all is good with the two of us variety is the spice of life I think that's the right expression being on vaca- a bite here and there (not overduing) i think is fine looking and feeling good in your bathing suit that's a great NSV glad you enjoyed your vacation welcome home, see you on the board kathy
  18. Had a mammogram today. Ladies, you know those little half-gowns they make you wear for that? In the past I always felt like I was busting out and had to hold the darn thing together with my hands. Today I could actually tie the ties and everything was very well covered! Hooray! Hey, sometimes we have to take the NSV's we can get!
  19. I'm an NSV 'ho! I so understand the feeling!!
  20. Feels good doesn't it. My favorite NSVs are at the doctor's office too.
  21. Well, according to the body composition scale at the gym, today I weighed in at 214.8 lbs, making another straight week of around 2lbs lost. Amazing to be doing that at 17 months post-op, but who's complaining? Also, since 215 was my goal (adjusted downward from 225 originally), GOAAAL! Well, except that I've now adjusted it down AGAIN to 200. And in addition to losing 2 lbs in the past week, according to the body composition numbers, in the past month (ish, since 8/26) I've lost 2% body fat (4.4 lbs) and GAINED ~2% muscle (around 4 lbs). That's just amazing; my fitness guru at the gym was astounded, he said he's NEVER seen a guy in his 40's (ok, early 40's, but still) gain muscle and lose fat so fast. It's a VERY GOOD DAY.

    Losing too fast

Hey Saww62! Nice to see another guy on the site. I don't know what "too fast" really means - I wish I could wake up tomorrow 45 more pounds lighter! As a rule, men lose fast and the more you have to lose the faster it goes, at least at first. Do your best to work the program and don't worry about how fast it's going. You will look back on these days from your first plateau and wonder why you were worried at all. Ps. watch for the first few non-scale victories (NSV) too. For me, it was cool to be able to bend down and tie my shoes without gasping for breath. Good luck and congratulations on getting the band.
  23. I was also banded May 7th. At my last visit June 12th I had lost 14 lbs. (I'm a lower BMI to start). I'm only planning to weigh when I have my Dr's visits. I get too easily psyched out by the number game. Next weigh in and 2nd fill will be July 14th. I am enjoying the NSV's though. I had noticed my pants getting looser, and decided I need a new pair of capri's for something I had over the past weekend. So, I go to the store and choose a size lower than what I usually wear, but thot, just for fun, I'd also try on a pair 2 sizes smaller. Guess, what! They fit!! And very easily. I was thrilled. Bought 2 pairs. I am very carefully measuring my foods and making the best choices I can. It's a whole different thought process for me now. It's almost fun. The fill was a breeze............no numbing and didn't feel a thing. Looking forward to the next one!

Cinco De Mayo Bandsters Update Please

I was banded on May 15th and had my first fill June 12th. I get my second fill in two days. I have lost about 33 pounds since my highest weight. I don't have much restriction and I've been "on plan" most of the time since surgery, but I've indulged here and there too, which I know has slowed down my weight loss, but a few times, I fell into the trap of telling myself.... "I should have a sandwich because once I'm restricted I won't be able to". The restriction I feel is when I try to eat a full sized meal, like a restaurant meal of salad, 8 oz. prime rib, baked potato and veggies. Then I can't clean my plate as I used to (well I could, but I listen to what my tummy is telling me and I stop eating). I'm looking forward to a level of restriction that will allow me to safely eat smaller meals and feel as satisfied with the smaller meal as I do with the restaurant meal. I'm working out with the Wii Fit and using my treadmill. I've been going for walks in the park near my office at lunch time on pretty days. I feel really really good. I was walking with a cane due to a hip injury and arthritis at the time of my surgery, and I've already been able to give up the cane. And by the way, what are NSV's? It's great to hear from all my fellow May bandsters!
  25. Today I decided that I needed some new jeans and bras because my old ones were too big, so I stopped in Lane Bryant since I had a coupon. The saleswoman was very nice and helpful, but I was having a heck of a time finding my size (I'm a 14 now). As I was trying on a coat, she looked at me and said "You know, you're going to be too small for Lane Bryant pretty soon". I couldn't help but smile!
