    New Nsv

I know this is no big deal to some of you but I am just so excited. I was banded on 7/23 and just started mushies stage and today was the first day I felt full with only a couple of bites of food!!!! Yess so happy I am not stuffing my face anymore!!!!! My first NSV with my new band only 3 weeks out!!! My starting weight was 225.4 and I am now 200.0. I am so rocking my band...and with no fill! Just had to share!

    NSV shout outs

WOW is all I can say. Everyone of you has done exceptional. If anyone has any doubts, these posts will change there minds. Thank you so much for sharing all your NSV's. Susan you are just beautiful, what a transformation.
  4. All along my ultimate goal was to wear skinny jeans (and not look like a stuffed sausage) with a pair of tall boots. One could dream, right? Well, I bought the tall boots a few weeks ago thinking and hoping that soon I would find a pair of jeans that might just fit inside them. Tonight I decided to give it a go. I took a size 14 and a size 12 back (with the boots in hand). Size 14...way too big. Size 12...still too big! What in the world?! Who walked out with a size 10 pair of skinny jeans that look amazing in my tall boots?!? That would be MEEEE!!!! There is no food on this earth that tastes as good as this victory!!!
  5. Coops, I'm so happy for you--so many great NSV's! And a lovely vacation coming up, too. :-) ENJOY!! GT, sounds like you've got a good plan coming up, even though you're going to have some rough spots. I'm glad you had time to decompress and chill--that is SO important for all of us to remember to do!! Welcome Momoslim! We have one more week until I have to go back to school for meetings, and two weeks before students return. My husband is going to be a full-time student this fall--turns out my university will give a tuition waiver for dependents and/or spouses who want a college degree, so we're taking advantage of it! We're really excited--he's always wanted to be a teacher but has spent most of his adult life as a computer tech. Now he's going to get to do what he's been secretly longing to do--and I'm really thrilled for him. He'll be in my building (he's a band geek and will be doing a music ed degree) so I'll get to see him a lot during the day. And I'm holding steady at 180--still have 175 as my "goal," and still doing what I usually do and waiting for the tiny drop down. :-)

Hi everyone- Dee- welcome back!! That is the wonderful thing about the lap band- you can start back up again!! Good goals to have, but while on liquids do a protein shake or 2 (or 3 or 4) to get some protein in. Also, are you exercising? Maybe start doing a little just to bump up the calorie burn. And probably don't exercise while just on liquids, that would be hard! I do between 1000-1300 calories a day, depending, except Sunday is my big ice cream eating day. I splurge that one day, but still count it in my calories! Nicole- awesome NSV's!! I have avoided flying and amusement parks because I was too fat. Now I am "regular" fat, LOL and able to do whatever I want . So I found a great recipe for protein ice cream! I am going to try it- it doesn't seem lower calorie particularly, but protein packed- I'll let y'all know if it's any good. I am doing good, did get my exercise in last night and will go to zumba tonight. Not sure about tomorrow as I will be heading to the beach tomorrow night- we decided not to go tonight, just head down there tomorrow after work and spend all day Saturday (that's when the reptile thing is) and part of the day Sunday. So I'll bring my workout clothes, my parent's clubhouse has a little gym thing with an elliptical. Exercise is important!! Have a great day- Nicki
  7. Okay so my week started off with a NSV(maybe). I live in NC but home for me is SC, so I went home this past weekend and I haven't been to my home church in over a year, although I go home at least once a month. Well I decided to surprise my grandmother by attending church but I didn't tell her that I was coming home or to church. So my husband & I get to church on Sunday and my grandmother is already seated, I go up to her and give her a hug & kiss on the cheek and sit down. Well halfway thorough the service she touches my hand and whispers in my ear that she didn't recognize who I was, she said that if it wasn't for my husband sitting with me she wouldn't have known until church was over. Now mind you she has seen me within the last month but I guess since I have lost a few more inches she didn't realize that it was me. At first I didn't know whether I should be elated or offended, but then I realized I must be "ROCKING MY SLEEVE" . Then this morning I get on the scale (which I normally do on Tuesdays but b/c my hubby had knee surgery on Tuesday I was preoccupied) and it read 199.8(5 months post op 08/13) WHOO HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't been under 200lbs in 14yrs. This is the best that I have felt in a long time and I know that it will only get better. My next goal is to be 185 on my 6 month follow up in September.

  10. You all need to take your measurements NOW and then compare them during stalls. I walked out of my first pair of pants during my first stall. The pants fit one day and then fell off me the next day, even though the scale stayed the same. You really can't "break" a stall unless you're stalled because you're eating too much. Basically, our bodies are adjusting to the changes we've made. When we stop eating so much and start adding hydration, the body says "Whoa!" and tries to hold onto the weight because it thinks we are in a famine of some kind. Once the body metabolism resets itself, you will drop weight, and usually dramatically. Those stalls are when I lose sizes and inches, always. I'm learning not to dread stalls but to look for the NSVs (non scale victories) during them.
  11. Just a quick holiday update... we are on countdown now! The kids and steve are really excited and I am up to my armpits in suitcases and holiday clothes. I'm writing list upon list of 'to do s' and 'to gets' even got a list within a list...lol But I have had some light bulb moments whilst shopping for summer clothes for myself as my summer wardrobe is a little, well, shoddy! I needed some summer dresses etc. So, as I am shopping I am starting to 'see' my new size! I can now eyeball clothes as to whether they will fit or not and I have had great pleasure in saying stuff like 'oh no! That will be too big for me' *secret smiles!* So that has to be a nsv, right? ALL my new gear is a size UK14... no problems! Also I have bought me two tankinis (couldn't find any swim suites in my size, so I kinda had now choice but to try them)... I always hoped that one day I would be able to wear one! The one is a size UK 14 top and bottom and the other is a UK 14 top but a UK12, yes I said 12 bottom!!!!! When I looked at the 14 I just knew they would be too big! The best thing about it is the way my daughter reacted... if I put something on that she doesn't like, she is quick to let me know... very straight to the point and I mostly thank her for her honesty! So, when she saw me in the new tankini she said 'Oh Mam, that looks nice! It suits you!', I nearly fell over! NSV number two! Gotta tell ya, I am sorta walking on air at the moment and my confidence is coming back... and the scale is still sitting at 163! Hope everyone else is doing well...

I forgot a few NSV's. So on my flight to CA I almost missed my flight I had to run from security all the way to the farthest gate (of course) last year I would have missed the flight but I was able to run the full length & made it!! I also did not need an extension seatbelt and I didn't get that "your too obese to fly" look. I enjoyed my flight for the first time in 7 yrs!!

    First Adjustment

Wow - what a crazy few weeks this has been! It still feels a bit unreal how far I've come on my road. Going from a high of 458 to yesterday's weight of 395 has really helped me understand that I CAN do this. During the fill, my RN and NUT were both stunned at the amount of weight I've lost since starting the pre-op diets (the NUT's exact words when he saw the scale were "holy ****!"...seemed like genuine shock). When asked what I've been doing, I just told them that I've been following the plan they laid out; cut out the sugar/carbs, amp up the protiens, watch the booze, walk a little, and take some vitamins. I think the biggest reason for the initial success has been cutting all of the beer/soda out of my diet (I was having ALOT of each). Now that my body is adjusting to not having the crap in me, I realize my progress will certainly slow, so i'm not trying to get too excited over it, but it certainly is encouraging. I've also experienced my first NSV - I fit into some shirts that I haven't worn in two years! I hope the rest of the July bandsters have had as positive experience in their journeys as I have. I wouldn't trade this for anything! My personal mantra throughout my journey has been, and will continue to be "kick the weight's ass!". So far, everything's going to plan - shibby!!!
  15. I understand your frustration! I think of how MUCH I ate before - and when I stalled at 2 weeks out for 10 DAYS!! - it felt unbearable!! I think we just have to look at the NSV - how do you feel? Look at your water intake and know you ARE doing better than before. I think I am like you, I sometimes can't believe this is ACTUALLY going to work for me....because I failed at everything else concerning my weight! I am TRYING to weigh only once a week, and be thankful for the weight I have lost and how much better I feel.....you will be fine.....good luck!
  16. The scale vistory is that I weighed 229 this morning - which means I am now simply 'obese' - no longer morbidly obese, no longer super morbidly obese either Overweight here I come! Non scale victory - Sunday night the family was sitting on the sofa all watching Breaking Bad and I realized that my legs were crossed - I dont think I have been able to do that in at least 15 years. Slowly the big stomach is going away - when we would go to restaurants I was too big to fit in a booth, now there is plenty of room, plenty of room with the steering wheel in the car as well. The clothes are starting to get really big - so big that my husband tells me that I cant go out of the house in 80 percent of my wardrobe lol. I never thought I would be a success, I always thought that this is something I will never win, this fight for a healthy weight. Now it feels possible!

Down 55, 55 More To Go!

That's called an "NSV". None scale victory and aint it great? tmf
  19. I TOTALLY relate to this NSV, Dooter! This is the best part of eating out, in my opinion...measuring how many inches of free space between me and the table! I used to fear and hate booths. Now I choose them because I can! Yippie!

    Labor Day Challenge 2012

Week Four post op Challenge weight: 203.4 Last week's weight: 192.8 Today's weight: 191.0 (down 1.8 pounds) Goal weight: 180 After last Monday, went up 1.2 pounds then into a stall until yesterday. Looking forward to a bigger weight loss week. Lots of NSVs every time I wear something. I LOVE my sleeve!
  21. I expected all the worst, and got all the best! The first 24 hrs. after surgery was rough because I was STRICT NPO, not even a single ice chip! That made me gag a few times. After that it was all uphill. They want us to sip an oz. of Fluid every 15 minutes after that first 24 hrs. Well, in a couple of days I was doing FOUR oz. every 15 minutes, and my pain was well managed by the meds prescribed. (I had a pretty good sized hernia repaired, so that caused some discomfort.) My healing progressed in a textbook fashion and I've not had a single complication (Thank you GOD!!) And I can eat any and all foods without problem or pain, and I've not thrown up once since surgery, and I've never "slimed." This could not have gone any better. I'm just amazed every day. I've lost almost 85 lbs. since February. I've got absolutely nothing to complain about. One thing I've noticed around here- aside from the "NSVs" we never really report when we "feel good." It doesn't seem that interesting or require a response. Most people post when there is trouble, or can wear a smaller size pants. We just don't think to say, "hey, by the way, I had a really non-complicated surgery." And maybe we should, just so all you noobs can see that it's not just doom and gloom in your future. I think there are a great number of us who had a terrific experience. Hopefully you'll hear from more....
  22. (size 22-24 / size 12-14) Just sticking my head in. Things have beed SO incredibly crazy for me and haven't had time to really sit down and pull all of my thoughts together. I'll post the short version here: Have accomplished quite a bit since the last check-in. I finally scale moving, but my body is being sculpted at an amazing rate, due to my love of running. (left pic: from my first 5k in April. right pic is from 2 weeks ago) (Only about 5# gone, but LOTS of inches GONE) The inches are disappearing, but STILL haven't hit One-derland, and I'm almost 2 years out. More important to me though, have become the NSV's... This coming weekend, I will be doing a 5k race up at Yankee Stadium to raise money for Cancer Research (something extreamly near & dear to my heart). The course takes place inside the stadium, and incorporates the concourses, ramps, and stairs. STOKED, but nervous...and ever-ready for a challenge. I also took to the challenge of doing BOTH the Marine Corps 10k and the Zombie 5k obstacle course in the same weekend at the end of October, so I am in training mode. That will surely show me what I'm made of! In other news: my eating has been pretty good. I'm focused. But I'd be lying if I didn't say how frustrated I am with the scale not showing all of the effort I'm putting in. I guess it shouldn't be important...but it is. No matter - I plan to keep going. Something will eventually have to give, right!??!? SO...MORE IMPORTANTLY: how is everyone doing?!?!?!? What challenges have you been having?? What NSV's have made you smile the most?

    Labor Day Challenge 2012

Started two weeks ago, been up and down a little but lost another two pounds this week. Total lost since starting the challenge: 5 1/2 pounds. Almost ten months out and it's slow (but sure) from here. NSV: Able to do sit-ups again! Am exercising daily and that's helping a lot. Only 29 days left in this challenge though, and I still have 14 1/2 pounds to go to meet my goal. Arggh.
